Re: More Delightful News

I think my roommate stopped the washer.

I went to the laundry room and saw the washer in use. I returned an hour and a half later. The washer was empty and the dryer was in use. I got my laundry, popped it in and turned it on. I use a kitchen timer when I do my laundry because I can't hear when the machine stops from my end of the house. When I got back to the washer, it was stopped on the wash cycle and the clothes were soaking in cold water. The dryer was empty.

I am annoyed, but I don't want to ask him about it now. I think he's asleep.

Re: More Delightful News

I knew it was coming, but I'm still annoyed about it...

Trying to get enough of a midnight snack to be able to sleep through the night without going to the trouble of making a full meal...bit down on something, felt an unexpectedly hard chunk of something in the middle of what I was chewing.

Turns out it was the one filling that I've had for most of my adult life (it's recently gotten quite a bit of company, but twenty years with no insurance and not enough income to pay dental bills will do that to you...)  I have an appointment later this month, already, and I was going to have them take a look at that tooth because it had chipped behind the filling...now debating if I can wait three weeks to get it fixed or if I should set up an earlier appointment (not like I have a lot of time for it right now, anyway...)

Re: More Delightful News

Huh...ironic, this one follows directly on the last one...

Just got home from the dentist...regular six-month check-up.  Since I'm still dealing with periodontal issues, that involves a periodontal check-up, along with the cleaning.  AND I had to get an X-ray for the tooth with the missing filling.  AND it had another cavity in it.

So, after forty-five minutes of alternating periods of watching Kung Fu Panda 2 (with no sound) while listening to the 'soothing strains' of whatever easy-listening channel they'd found (better than what the dentist we had when I was a kid would listen to, but still nowhere close to my favorite musical styles) and the sounds of the other patients, I've arrived home with two fillings in the same tooth...and for some odd reason, I feel numb in places I don't ever remember being numb when I came home from the dentist before.

Like, my ear.  Which itches, but because I can't feel it, I can't scratch the itch.

To top all that off, I found out I have a bunch of NEW cavities (yes, I know, I really should stop drinking soda).  Seems like every time I'm almost to the point where I can start to stabilize my finances, I have some kind of emergency...my car breaks down, I have dental work done, my horse needs veterinary care (no longer a problem, as I don't have a horse anymore, sadly).  It'd be nice to get ahead for at least a couple of months...

Re: More Delightful News

His ashes were scattered today, since they weren't ready by the time we had the service. So his closest friends opted to wait until his birthday. Today.

This was ripping a scab off of a wound...but the wound underneath isn't bleeding anymore. It's healing, slowly but surely, and I can tell a time will come that this won't affect me anymore.

Putting this here because it's the topic I put his suicide in. I can't tell if this is a vent or a good thing or...just something else entirely.

Re: More Delightful News

Well...replaced the clutch in my car.  We weren't sure that was the problem...took it apart and found out it was.  Or, at least, we thought it was (it was a problem, the old clutch was all but completely gone).  But when we put everything back together, it was still doing the same thing it was doing before.

And I won't have time to work on it until next week.  And my friend needs his garage back VERY soon because he's gotta fix something on his show-car before he hauls it to Vegas in a couple of weekends.  I hope the rest of the repairs can be done in a night, because I hate feeling like I'm the one people are waiting on.

Went gaming at a friend's house this evening and when I got ready to leave I discovered that all 4 tires on my vehicle had been slashed.

I didn't think my GMing was that bad.

Ah, yes, when a coworker -who has nothing to gain- stabs you in the back and costs you several days pay....it's just so special.  When the same coworker gets caught by you NOT doing their job properly....it's not important to management at all, is it ?  Double standards, what fun.  Whatever did I do in a previous life to deserve this kind of bad luck ?

The idiot puts the lotion on your bread basket....

Zephydel: I need to return the bagels I bought a few minutes ago. They smell and taste funny.
Baker: I see. You are the ninth customer who told me that.
Customer: I also need to return these bagels. They smell like lotion.
Baker: Lotion? Oh crap!
Zephydel: What is wrong?
Baker: I hired a new baker a few weeks ago. I caught that baker putting lotion on his hands before kneading some dough.
Customer: That is serious. You should fire him. Someone might get food poisoning.
Baker: I will. He is starting to ruin my business.

Re: /Facepalm

In September of last year my work went into bankruptcy, by December I was without a job, I decided to move to another country to look for work in January, because a lot of stores, chains and firms either went into bankruptcy or downsized in my old country. Anyway, New country new opportunities right

First thing that happened, chipped a tooth, it doesn't hurt, but I have to be careful when I chew, I cannot afford to get it fixed, been applying to many many jobs, not gotten any.

Now it's April, suddenly my old country decides that I have a job (I do not) so they won't pay without work support. I still have no job, today I realized my bank-account is empty, it's so empty it doesn't even have dust in it.

*Bangs head in wall repeatedly*

Credit card still has a few euroes on it, but not enough to get myself home

I am to blame, I took a risk, doesn't seem to pan out, but I still get to curse at whomever has been messing with my future, who the fruiting banana decided I needed to be without a job to go to? I need to banana split someone with a rusty rake soon, because I can't take it, the soul-crushing frustration of knowing it all wen't straight to banana

Some people are just needlessly jerky on RPoL. You can't just say you don't like a concept in an RTJ, you have to throw personal insults out too.

The funny part is, your unnecessary jerkishness lost you a really good player(not me). I just wish RPoL rules didn't forbid me from putting you on blast publicly for being such a.... well, you know.

Re: /Facepalm

Look, if you're going to try and recruit local help with your big project at the convention, you REALLY need to actually communicate with them in a timely fashion...

I sent the pics you asked for...to the email address you gave me four times on the phone AND texted to me that night.  And I haven't heard a thing from you since then...no acknowledgment of receipt, and now that it's two days after you said you were going to make decisions and I STILL haven't heard anything from you, I'm finding myself questioning whether you've got the level of professionalism that you're trying to sell to people.  I realize you're probably crazy-busy with getting ready and organizing stuff and all...but the rest of us also have schedules we have to plan and we can't just up and change things at the last minute in many cases.

I'm willing to wait one more day...and then if you contact me after that, I'm just gonna say, "Sorry, I assumed, since you said you were deciding Friday and I hadn't heard anything by Monday--and I have to be ready to go by Thursday, that you'd ruled me out of consideration...I'm not available anymore."  That's a lot of money to walk away from...but if this is any indicator of how you treat the people you work with, the money's not worth it.

There is such a thing as Common Sense.....

A secondary job with minimal income potential had better not be two hours driving distance for a 45 minute task....  Surely the friend who requested my help would look up the locations on a map, or google it or something, before accepting a task that pays less than the fuel required to transport us to the location ?

Your RTJ with a dash of Fatalistic Impatience

I know it's difficult to believe... but some people here on RPOL don't sit at the keyboard refreshing their game every five minutes just waiting RTJ applications.  Some of us--I know it's hard to believe--have to go away to work.  I know!  Shocker!

Hey!  I'm pleased you submitted a RTJ!  Applying to a game is cool!   Following it up less than ten-hours later with a message chiding me for not responding... Not cool.

At least give it a day before you get all impatient.  And, hey! A polite inquiry almost always works better than a passive-aggressive poor-me inference.
