13 or 14 I forget? I turned in my old account to the mods when I realised it was this site that I once used a LONG time ago in college.

Man 14 years, that was before all this facebook BS. I'm glad this site is still around, spreading joy and harry potter free form rpgs.

Nearly 1700 posts (at the time of this writing) is pretty darn respectable Undeadbob. It's already more than most of the people in this thread, if not the entire site ...

Your odds of ever catching up with BBR aren't helped any by the fact that he's probably the most prolific of the moderators when it comes to responding to questions and commentary within the various threads (at least in the forums I read...)

It's not just that he talks a lot...it's that he has an actual responsibility to talk a lot.  *grin*

You likely don't remember me but I remember seeing you before.
Be glad that you are still "around" many are no longer.

It is so hard to get people the stick with any game (online or face2face) that I mostly do Magic the Gathering.
On that note, my daughter just bought me an entire box of MtG cards for my birthday. :O

GreenTongue, that name does seem familiar. Well its good there a feel old hats still around. Funny thing is one of my new players IRL is someone I had met on rpol years ago that finnaly drifted into my town recently. So I am sure they are still around, they're just lurkers much like me. Waiting for the moment to strike!
MTG! I have so many of those cards and no players that I tried to make a magic system for one of my games using those cards, I never really used it though.

Mind. Blown.

I've been a lousy shot with a rifle for years. I used to be alright. Then I had some great training and got pretty good. Then I went back to being lousy. I couldn't figure it out since I was still "doing everything right" according to my friends and coaches.

Last week, I had a string of familiar headaches. It felt like it was time for new glasses. I got an appointment and had my eyes checked. Got a new prescription. Went to the range today and nothing had changed. I was pretty bummed when I got pulled off the range for remedial training. But then the trainer was the same guy from the optometrist's. He said, "I remember you. And you're going to be here all day if you think you're still Right-Eye Dominant."

And we went over the fundamentals again, except this time, I had to shoot with my left. I wasted a few rounds just figuring out what to do with my right hand. Mirroring my usual position wasn't comfortable. And shooting became awesome again.

Then he shook my hand (the left one) and said, "Welcome to the Secret World of Lefties."

Pocket money.

Due to a fruit-up in billing, hubby didn't get paid for the last two weeks. Needless to say this makes things tight for the end of the month. While doing laundry I was emptying my jeans' pockets and found $20 worth of assorted bills. Woo-HOO!  Time to buy Halloween candy so we don't get egged!

Re: Mind. Blown.

I've gotta say, one of the best things to happen to a bruised ego (mine) was to show up at a friend's party, have a guy I only see a few times a year introduce me to his girlfriend and practically gush about how highly he thinks of me, and have her look at me and say, "Oh, he's told me lots of stories about you.  And they're all good!"

Granted, the booze was flowing pretty freely, so he may have been feeling more generous and effusive than he would normally...but he's also a guy who has no reason to brag me up to anyone.  Funniest thing about it, to me, is that the first time I met him, about four years ago, he was going through a rough time (his marriage was going through yet another rough patch on the way to an eventual divorce), and he was kind of bitter and angry about a lot of stuff.  At THAT party, he got much too drunk and ended up asking me for a ride home, to which I answered that if I knew where he lived, I'd gladly do it.

His somewhat bitter response was, "Man, I thought every guy here knows where we live..." (because he was convinced, at the time, that his wife was cheating on him).  That highly unusual exchange turned into the start of one of the more unusual friendships in my life...

It was good, though.  I'd been having a rough time lately, and between the two events I made it to this weekend, and the stuff discussed with friends at those events, I feel a lot more at peace with the world.  The problems that caused my doubts and frustrations haven't been solved, by any means...but I feel a lot more capable of dealing with them.

Man I read the threads on here, and it makes me laugh. Half the time I just want to post some nonsense comment just so everyone knows how ridiculous their argument on the internet is. But i don't, I just sit and laugh so my family looks at me weird.

I found out that one of my old university professors has been handing out one of my old short stories to his classes as an example of a well-written story. No idea which story, but always a nice thing to hear.

Yesterday was a beautiful day and, for the first time since her injury in August and surgery in September, my dog ran.  This wouldn't have been possible without the help of those who donated money towards her surgery.  Thank you!

I have been trying to load a video in my Photobucket, but I'm having trouble with it.  If you really want to see it, rmail me and I'll link you to the Dropbox file.  :)

Re: Mind. Blown.

For my Halloween costume this year I decided to try my hand at making a latex "ripped mouth" prosthetic using Kiana Jones SFX YouTube video as my guide. Best costume reception ever!  I terrified children and adults alike, and was stopped more than a dozen times for pictures as I took my zombiefied son trick or treating.

Now to take what I've learned to prep for next year!

Re: Mind. Blown.

I just told my friends in a game about this.

An hour ago, I came home from a costumed fun run. I didn't know what to wear and I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on something that I'd run around in on a damp day, so I went as Fifty Shades of Grey. I got a bunch of paint samples from the hardware store, taped them together and safety pinned them to my shirt.

Someone asked me if I was really wearing fifty shades.

I said, "No, because like E. L. James, I didn't fact check."
