Just Once....

Get the fruit outta there as soon as you fruiting can.  Life's too short to put up with that kinda nonsense unless you're working a government contract.

I wouldn't burn that bridge, I'd hit it with as much C4 as I could lay hands on (figuratively speaking, of course...).

Chaos is fun.

ME!

My compulsive speech flaw kicked in as I clocked out last night, causing me to insult someone when I am probably the only one on the crew who does not like the guy lol. I just find it funny the way the one girl acted, I know she complains about me behind my back, so what's the big deal?

If you're not going to accept someone for a game, can you at least tell them? Ignoring people is so rude and disrespectful.

Jackfruit Boss part II

WEll was just informed that the big boss is going out of state on Wednesday until next Monday...Well just dandy.  That leave jackfruit boss in charge until Tuesday.  goody goody.  Anyone know where I can hire someone to smack him with a car? The boy is like a freakin' mosquito, no matter how hard you smack him he won't go down.

that and he's just a blood sucking parasite.

Jackfruit Boss part II

In reply to pitademon (msg # 883):

Be careful... someone will take you seriously about that request, and that would make it a crime.  I get your frustration, though...

Really, this sounds like my workplace to some degree - lots of office politics and skullduggery get in the way of just doing the ruttin' job.

The only reason I'm still at work is I have no better options for retirement just yet (and retirement is what's killed a lot of my friends).  If things don't change for the better anytime real soon, I see myself going into business for myself.  I have the skills - I need to acquire the business sense and the customer base.

Jackfruit Boss part II

It's why I made the mosquito comment.
did have a bit of revenge so to speak.  An old boss stopped by to say hi. Jackfruit boss came in and made a snarky comment.  old boss told him to get an anal-cranial impaction correction.  And followed up with either go all the way in or pull all the way out, either works.  He could not say anything because she was there as a guest (her hubby was in the ER).

Jackfruit Boss part II

In reply to horus (msg # 884):

90% of running a business is collections because clients hate to pay their bills. The whole Western world has a cash flow problem.

The other 10% of running a business is sales and marketing.

I'd rather die than run a business. Just completely outside my strengths.

People more like shmeeple

I found the secret to stress reduction is well... just distance yourself. Not everyone can do it, but just let the crap roll off your back. Now if more people would learn that.

Speaking of people... what the apples is wrong with people? Why in tar nation are people who waste so much time on the job, complaining about being unable to meet company standards? If they get off the cell phone and quit making excuses then life would be so much easier for them.

Oh well, maybe they like getting wrote up who knows?

Don't be rude.

In reply to GammaBear (msg # 882):

Some folks react... poorly to that rejection notice.  I've had a few characters say some interesting things when they get their rejection.  The essence of which is usually, "I hope your players abandon you, or that you suffer horrible injury such that you can't play here anymore."  It's far easier to simply send out acceptance notices and shut off the requesting players flag rather than deal with potential negativity like that.  It's unpleasant for both parties even if the rejection is amiable.

Or the GM may be flooded with RTJ's.  Why go to the trouble of sending out 10~30 rejection notices?  It's bothersome and unrewarding when you've got your actual players to talk to.  Not condoning the practice, but I see the other side of the coin.  Frustrating sometimes, but there's usually a reason for it.  I personally send out a general announcement if I'm flooded with RTJ's, but I do send out individual messages if I've got the time.

Good manners cost nothing. Honestly, how long does it take to copy and paste a dozen "Thanks for your interest, maybe next time" notices?

Remember that pretty but vain girl/guy with dozens of admirers, who blanked you when you approached her/him?

You really want to do that to someone else?

If someone has complemented you by indicating that they think your game looks good, the least you can do is thank them for their interest, no matter how many approaches you get.

And it's not that hard to turn the Accepting Players flag off and delete or disable your Wanted (Players) post when the game is full. That's also common courtesy.

In reply to W0LF0S (msg # 890):

Well,if someone gets mad, that's on them. Granted, you can't please everyone, but like ico said, good manners cost nothing. Also, 10-30 is kind of a huge gap. I have never ran a game (other than my west marches style game) that has ever had more than 10, if that, RTJs. If people run games that get more, more power to them, but I highly doubt there's a lot of games that get that many requests. Even so, copy and paste. I have in my scratch pad a standard reply. "Thank you for your interest, my roster is full at this time." It takes so little time to copy and paste, and even less time to actually type.

All I'm saying is it really sucks because it makes me wonder why my submission wasn't good enough. Ya know? I take the time to put a lot of thought in to a character, and then nothing. Not even a "Hey, we have enough X Class," or "Your background doesn't fit well with my setting," or anything like that.

Not entirely.  Site users can not disable a W-P post, or completely delete it.  All they can do is stop bumping the thread, or remove their own posts (the thread remains, since they will need it if they want to post another ad for the same game later).

Besides, they can always post "No longer accepting players," or something to that effect as well. Probably won't bump the thread b/c of the cooldown, but it's still a post people will see.

We prefer them to edit an existing post - we specifically say not to make a new post to announce that the game is full.

"Why should I read yours if you won't read mine?"

That's how I feel about some of the RTJ's I get sometimes.  You know.  The ones that send a submission in for something that is obviously out of place with your advertised game and indicates that the submitter hasn't read any of your public notices.  I worked hard on getting information put together for you.  If you can bother to read it, then I don't feel like reading your RTJ.

Easy nope.

Sadly, reading RTJs is a bit like reading a job application. It shouldn't be that way, and in a perfect world it wouldn't be, but the world ain't perfect. You ARE going to get completely unsuitable applicants, and you ARE going to get more RTJs than you can responsibly accept. That's just life.

I prefer several rounds of talk before accepting one. Open some discussion get the feel for someone before I try to toss them in my game worlds. After all, if you do not have the patience to do a little reading and discuss something, then why would I think you make a good player?

My vent is people who get mad over rtj requirements. No one makes you apply for a game after all.

Yep!  That's why I like the way I've constructed my own RTJ process.  It's broken up into three steps of back and forth between me and applicants.  It gives both parties a chance to get a feel for each other and prove that they aren't going to vanish immediately.

That's one of the reasons I started putting hidden words and phrases in to my Read First threads. If I'm taking the time to write all this out, the least you can do is read it to make sure everything is going to be kosher. Fail to give me the right word or phrase and I'll deny you with a generic reply.

You would be amazed how many people would throw a fit over being asked a simple question such as a damage formula. It is part of why my only game right now is invite only.
