GM-tailored munchkining
A friend of mine told us he was going to run a game where Force powers exist in the real world. (They're super rare, apparently one Force user spoke to George Lucas, which is where he got the idea for the movies.) He didn't tell us what system we were going to use, he ran one-shots going through our characters' lives and created the characters himself accordingly. (It later turned out he's using Mage: the Ascension.)
I knew three things about this guy:
1) He doesn't see the dark side of the Force as "evil". He sees the two sides as input/output.(Shockingly, he's an Electronics Engineer.) When you give your energy to the universe, that's the Light side. When you suck energy from the universe, that's the dark side.
2) Whenever he's a player, he's a horrible munchkin who breaks the game unless the GM puts his foot down. Whenever he's the GM, he tends to make everyone go through hell, often killing PCs left and right, but any powerplaying you can get away with is fair game. (In his Vampire: the Masquerade game, he told players they would get xp for killing vampires. They started smuggling Syrian refugees by the hundreds, getting an allied NPC vampire to Embrace them, then killed them all for the xp. He allowed this.)
3) He believes that most women only live to manipulate men, preferably through the use of their sexuality. Of course he would never fall for that, but since most men are extremely weak-willed, this works very easily.
Knowing all these, I created a female character who constantly manipulates everyone around her and has no purpose in life other than instant gratification. She has a nerdy boyfriend, whom she cheats on (not for fun, but she sleeps with her college instructors for grades and whatnot) and uses for information, skills and money. From that boyfriend she found out that the geek community is quite fun, and also that attractive girls can quickly become super popular there, so she started cosplaying just for the attention.
As expected, the character works wonders in the game. She's not very strong in the Force, but it doesn't even matter. People do what she wants without resorting to Mind Tricks.(Which I keep rolling and failing anyway.) The group needed money; so she went to a bar, got a man drunk and went to his house, waited for him to fall asleep and robbed him blind. This worked even though I botched a couple of rolls, because the GM was convinced that an ordinary man would take a hot girl home no matter what and be stupid enough to get drunk and pass out.
Also, because we're totally playing M:tA and are therefore Mages even if we think we're Jedi, there's Paradox involved whenever we use magic. Except every time my character gets hit by Paradox, the Paradox manifests itself as someone spilling a drink on her chest so that her clothes become see-through. This gives me more bonuses.
I...I can't say I'm not a little ashamed here, but it's just so irresistible. Easy power, simply by sacrificing my basic humanity! And in the end, isn't that what the dark side is all about?
