Dear mods & everyone,

RPOL is an awesome community. I respect the values of upholding anonymity.

However, I'm sure RPOLites create content in the form of blogs, vods, streams, podcasts...

I'd love to consume this content; and share my own too.

Therefore, I propose this thread be dedicated to RPOLites to post their links, and connect with their peers on other websites.

These links should only be to online content; not other forums, or sites where games are hosted.

What say you?

I don't know if Community Chat is the best place for that...but, perhaps, a forum of its own, along the lines of the Offsite Gaming forum...?

I do like the idea...

A single dedicated thread wouldn't be too much of a strain on the Community Chat forum.

I think it's really supportive of the community to allow users to share their in this highly active forum. If it was in another forum, like Offsite Gaming, it would have significantly less views, and the potential exposure would be significantly diminished.

Not sure it belongs here either, Honestly, I mean if people monitize those vidoes even posting them would break the offsite gaming board rules as you can't get any kind of gains for your ads there.  I think a new forum would have to be created.

In reply to ashberg (msg # 3):

It's not a question of it being a 'strain'.  Generally, Community Chat is used exactly for that...to chat, discuss, confer, commiserate, celebrate, etc.  There are some pretty rigid restrictions on advertising stuff here, and it seems counter-intuitive to me that you can't tell someone the name of the game you're running on RPOL but you'd be able to tell them where to go read your blog or follow your YouTube channel.

RPOL does make accommodation for people who want to advertise games, both here on the site and off-site, and people who are interested in seeing those ads go see those forums.  Last time I checked, 'Wanted: Players' wasn't exactly suffering for a lack of people perusing it, even though it's not a thread on CC...

It's not my call to make, of course.  But you did ask for our thoughts on the matter...and my thoughts are, it would stay more true to the spirit of the Community Chat forum if activity like that was somewhere else.

Offsite Gaming is only for advertising games, or gaming sites, so links to blogs, etc, would be against the rules there.

For links to videos, blogs, etc... this is the correct location.  As long as those links do not go to locations which would violate the rules of this forum.

So the locations linked to can contain no commercial advertising (or monetised content), no Adult content, no links back to RPOL games, no links to offsite games, etc...

If you don't want to post your stuff in the thread, don't. :-)

If other people want to, they are free do so, so long as the sites linked are those that the site allows, as bigbadron said above.

As for the problems about third parties using content ... if you're already posting it on the web somewhere ...

It doesn't hurt to give it a try.  If the thread dies off and disappears beneath a pile of others, what have you lost?  If it takes off and stays active, then all the better.
