What is up with d6 Star Wars?

Is this system cursed on here, or something?  Every game I have gotten into on here since I first joined I don't remember how many years ago, dies.  Either during character creation and until posting, or once the adventure is underway.  Usually because of GM disappearance, sometimes announced with the intention to return, but more often just an X-Files style vanishing.  Anyone else have this problem?

It's not just Star Wars.  Most systems have similar track records.

I'll also state out of print systems are worse than most; in particular if they've been replaced. I used to play it years ago; but I was never enough of a Star Wars fan to grab me.

I also had this problem with d20 Star Wars games.

d20 is the Jar Jar Binks of Star Wars gaming.  :p

Licensed games are tricky. I've tried a few and the D20 attempts have never thrilled me. The ones that I have been happiest about have a relatively slow release schedule; and leave a lot more up to 'GM-interpretation' than D20 does.

What is up with d6 Star Wars?

I joined the site for a Star Wars game.  I've tried several over the years I've been here.  Only found one that's kept its legs underneath it (thanks, Ron!)

That said, I've had similar experiences with several freeform games, a couple of Shadowrun games (although I did manage to find one to play through to completion...or, at least, as far as the GM intended it to go.  I felt like my character was left dangling with a lot of unfinished business, but...that's life), two or three Scion games, a couple of White Wolf/WoD games, multiple Serenity games...

So, no, this problem is not system-exclusive.  It is, if you will, an occupational hazard of play-by-post gaming.

Thanks Ron, indeed.  :)  But then, Ron's games tend to keep going regardless, barring utterly massive player abandonment.

...which is darned rare in his games.

I betcha it's one of those statistics things (most of your friends have more friends then you).

Most GMs that continue games for years on end are already continuing games for years on end and thus aren't accepting new players.

In reply to phoenix9lives (msg # 1):

Has happened to me far too many times and I need my fix.

This is my favourite system and work pattern and family life mean I either do PBP or Solitaire Roleplay.

Need to find a Star Wars PBP to join.
