This is for good.

Wyatt was a 17yo player who took his own life few days ago.
He suffered a concussion when he was 14yo, never healing fully from the damage.

He was a player, DM and LARPer.

Her mother wrote about him on Internet, asking people a simple thing: make Wyatt a NPC in your campaign.

That's a wonderful though, not only for people like Wyatt but for our beloved ones.

Just my 2 cents.

The problem I see is the 'took his own life' part. The death report I found on him was 'hit by a train.'

I know nothing about the case, but jumping in front of a train or large truck is a method of suicide.

This is a rather amusing
and catchy profile quote!

Sheesh, the cynicism in this thread is disheartening. Regardless of your dubiousness, it's a nice gesture.

I already made a Paladin of Shelyn (of the arts, of course!) with his name for the cause to appear in my homebrew game.

Report I found said he jumped in front of the train.

Shame to hear, though. I'm definitely on board for honoring the departed in a fashion like this.

In reply to GammaBear (msg # 9):

Can we not take the thread down this particular road, please?

The pros of being right do not outweigh the cons of being wrong in this case. Being right means you've accomplished nothing, while being wrong means you've just spent effort tearing into a mother's grief for no reason. Really, the best case scenario is getting to be smug. Please try consider the consequences of having argued against it should it be true.

In any event, the idea of making characters to honor a dedicated gamer is a nice sentiment.

Sure.  And not everyone is as cynical as you.  Some of us still take what people say at face value.

This isn't about a Nigerian prince asking for help to get his fortune out of the country.

If it turns out that the person was lying, or mistaken (assuming they took the post from somewhere else and posted it as their own), what harm has been done?

It's a feel good gesture that does no harm.
