Are there any systems set in the world of long distance truck driving?

Spirit of 77 tries to emulate the movie version of that.

Pallidium's Road Hogs from the late 1980s.

Edit: Think Mad Max, with furries.

When I read the title I thought to myself "No way. Who would play a game about long haul trucking."

I have been proven wrong.

In reply to Talon (msg # 5):

Road Hogs was a blast--early Palladium's best, IMO. Crazy cannonball runs with 18-wheelers and motorbikes through post-nuclear holocaust California, with a roadrunner at the wheel and a coyote manning the machine gun turret.

Unfortunately, the system suffered from bulky game mechanics, so it was never straightforward to play.

Maybe time for a re-make, what with this being the golden age of furrydom.

"Roadhogs" is a sourcebook for Palladium's "After the Bomb" setting. Think Post Apocalypse Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

They do have a second edition for it where they have separated it totally from TMNT.

Auto Duel?  It isn't Car Wars any more?  My, how things change....
Palladium's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness was (and is) an awesome game, though updating it or adding it to Ninjas And Superspies would have been a good idea.  The After the Bomb and Mutants Down Under supplements made it that much more fun.  The newer After the Bomb game seems like a good replacement.

Palladium, as a rule, just doesn't work, sadly, but the latest ATB comes probably the closest.  And if you're determined, it's not difficult to convert the other TMNT material, as long as you keep an eye on the math.

Exactly. A colourful world, exciting scenarios, multi-dimensional NPCs, fantastic artwork and... clunky game mechanics.

Clunky is a really generous assessment of Palladium's Megaversal system.

More on-point, I really have been looking for any game system that supports practical, non-map-based (or zone-based) vehicle combat.  I kind of like the principles behind the Chase rules in M&M 2e's Mastermind's Manual, but it doesn't have enough mechanical grit to support a really vehicle-centric game.

We haven't heard from silent hunter, but when I first saw a request for a long distance trucker RPG I have to admit I was a bit surprised. I like the rest figure Silent was looking for post-apoco game? But what if Hunter isn't and just wants to drive...... Wait eight hours then roll d100? ;)

Atomic Highway (title? Too many games) FREE and not bad at DriveThru RPG get it drive through.... especially good for PbP. Good luck Hunter and Hammer Down!

"Irradiated Freaks," the supplement for "Atomic Highway," is also available as a free download from the same site.

As far as I'm aware, Autoduel is the name of the GURPS setting book for the Car Wars universe. Long out of print, though I imagine you can probably still get a PDF of it. As post-apoc settings go, it's more "Mad Max" than "The Road Warrior" - civilization is still holding on, just weathering a bad patch of Grain Blight resulting in food shortages and extremely-loosened gun laws.

Palladium's TMNT was a riot to play.  We drove that system right into the ground with a cross country trek from Boston to somewhere in California, took at least a year to play it thru.  Then played the kids of the original characters. We basically rebuilt/cannibalized that system.

GURPS also comes to mind as an RPG possibility too.

In a mostly-unsuccessful attempt at a post-Apoc highway game, I learned that it's really difficult to do much roleplay when each character is mostly in their own "capsule" driving a separate vehicle. I'd suggest having two characters in each vehicle, maybe by having each player run a driver character and an accessory character, so there's always at least one other PC to interact with.

So having someone act as the driver and someone else the Navigator/Gunner. That works when you don't have radios between characters.

In reply to Rockwolf66 (msg # 18):

My game didn't provide for a lot of communications tech. Besides, just talking back and forth isn't the same as acting together as a crew.
