At the hospital, anyone for chatting?

Yep. I actually paid attention in my Combat Lifesaver courses. Surprisingly amazing my fellows by giving an iv without spilling a single drop of blood. Scares me that I was the only guy in the unit to do it, much less do it reliably.

Edit, bah, I'm still an adventurer. Real heroes aren't stopped by a simple arrow to the knee. :)

so only my knee and pants got caught.

Enough with the knee, are the pants all right?

Oh, and what kind of pizza was it?  Details man, details!

Pants are wearable but have been upgraded to +3 Holy Slacks. :)

I have no idea what the pizza was. It was hidden away from my sight. Customer reports it was undamaged.

Well at least the pizza made it unscathed.

Did they get the moron who hit you?

Thanks. I expected to spend all day in the hospital, as that is what usually happens to me, but yesterday was a whirlwind of speed and far busier than expected.

Today, I still have to work, but I'm going slow and easy.

We could ... maybe... send you a pizza?

If I wasn't so busy laughing, I'd send my kobold minions after you. I call them the Tucker clan. Can you guess why? }:)

Second-best food fight "weapon":

2. Pizza
Strengths: Grease factor.
Guaranteed to leave a mark.
Size.
Guaranteed to leave a big mark.
Weakness: Desirability.
Especially considering you only get it on Fridays, it's tough to part with. Luckily, no one orders just one slice of pizza.

Don't they sell pizza by the slice there?  Of course you wouldn't likely be getting that delivered.

Last I heard only pregnant women get to order stuff at hospital. Everyone else only gets hospital food.

I think that's the same everywhere.  You'd have to be someone to smuggle the pizza in, and the nurses would probably smell it.

I wish someone would have told me.  I was regularly forgotten about and left hungry after my kidlets.

Re: At the hospital, anyone for chatting?

Our local hospital actually has a food station open to patients. But the choices are limited, turkey sandwiches (2 slices of turkey on wheat), fruit cups, tiny soda's, water sometimes coffee (depends on floor for the coffee). Just have to ask a nurse first. Being diabetic that has been a good thing for me on occaision.

I had my oldest at 3a so they weren't prepared for me on the breakfast rotation.  Lunch was missed because I don't know.  My mother in law (nurse at said hospital who worked 3rd shift) came in at 7p the next day to check on us and when I asked her when I got to eat she looked horrified.  The food was shite.  My husband was with me for delivery, but then he got up and went to work at 6a that day and he was a manager so he didn't get back to me until around when his mom did.

Second kid I had just before midnight.  I had gestational diabetes and they delivered a regular breakfast, then seeing my chart took it away.  I didn't get anything until late lunch because finding 'diabetic' food is hard.

In reply to littlegoth (msg # 31):

Good grief, that's a horrible hospital, they should be able to find something for a new patient to eat, even (especially!) if there are dietary concerns.

So glad overall the experience went OK, while not being particularly pleasant.

Seven days past, I'm almost over the limp, and otherwise just bruises. Thanks for the support, even though I didn't actually get a lot of alone time.

It was much better than a military hospital. :)

Re: At the hospital, anyone for chatting?

You made me remember my time, long time ago, at a military hospital, an old monastery converted to hospital ages ago, when the most military thing I did for a long time was waxing long, long corridors...

I'm glad the limp is almost gone.

I can't imagine anything that wouldn't be better than a military hospital.  Eeugh..
