What If

This is a game where players post various situations (mystical or realistic) and ask what the other players would do in them. One player asks the question, then several answer until everyone feels they've had adequate time to answer, then someone posts a new question. You may answer the questions in character or out of character, whichever you think would fit better.

Example:

Player A - What if a strange little green alien walked up to you and said, "You're momma wears army boots!" How would you respond?

Player B - I would turn and run away screaming "Aliens have invaded!"

Player C - I would pick him up with one hand and look him in the eye and say, "You wanna repeat that?"

Player D - I would laugh and say "Actually, they're Navy boots. Try not to mix them up."

And so forth until someone posts a new "what if" question...

Ok, for the first question!

What if you received a phone call saying you've been drafted and need to report to the closest Army recruiting location. What do you do?

Re: What If

Crush thier army with my undead army...duh

What would you do if all of a sudden you were sitting at a table in a resturant and all of a sudden you hear the person behind you mention something about playing in ASWOT?

EDIT: oh pickle-fish everyone was supposed to have time to answer that army question...I like my question better though, lets do mine

Question A:  I'd tell them that I don't play football very well and that the Army team probably has made a grave mistake.

Question B:  I'd destroy them with my undead army of course :)

Question A: I would go.  As much as I don't like the idea of going to the army, if my country calls for me then I'll come.

Question B: I'd inturrupt at an appropriate time and ask if they play, and continue in conversasion as such.  Then of course come here and talk about it.

Question A: I'd go down there of course, then correct the mistake, I'm too old to be doing that.

Question B: I'd put my finger in front of my lips and whisper, "Don't speak of that outloud, you don't know if 'THEY' are listening" Then look around the room slowly.

Cody suddenly switched to voting for blue...

I was thinking.  If I randomly changed, would people change just to be on a different team than me?  Would they take out red because it was the enemy?  Or attack the new color I am on because they want me to lose?  Would they claim that I switched teams just because it looked like red was going to lose anyway?  Or would they have no problem with me changing?

What would you do if I switched.

I've played games similar. Never to that detail though. It all started with my father's commodore 64, even though I played it a couple times. It mainly consisted of: Me trying to get things done in the adventure game (The only one I was interested in) and getting tires of reading, then typing in swears to see what funny things would come up. I think I once typed F*ck and it said: She's in the corner.

Lol Tzuppy. I'd move some place where you don't have to drive 50 miles to wherever you're going. Small towns are good for walking or biking to local places. Why do we spread out all over the place? Maybe because it's there? Hmmm...

I wouldn't care too much.  The world would be in chaos, but I have a weapon, three months of food/water, Redlands (in Southern CA) is 407m above sea level already (so even if the polar icecaps melted, it wouldn't matter).  True, I'd miss the internet terribly, but at least I have plenty of books to read. ;)

I figure, after three months, the world would have either stabilized and things would be back to relatively normal or we'd be living in a Mad Max type of world.  Either way, I'm ready. :p

I figure there'd be enough interruption of basic services that my internet connection would be down and that most internet service providers would also be down.  So, the commercial-based "backbone" of the current internet wouldn't be around.  For a while, at least.

Anyway, I'm not saying that everything would be easy for me, just that I'd find a way to survive.

Re: ...Polar Icecaps Melted Away?

@Bart: Actually I wouldn't be too worried. If you think about it logically, the only pole we'd have to worry about melting would be the antarctic. Since the arcit is ice that's just floating on the water, if it melts into the water below it, there wouldn't be any change at all in sea level. The only difference would come from the antarctic melting, as it is the one with a landmass under it. However, even with all that ice that's down there, it would only be enough to raise the overall world sea level by a few feet at the most. So there would be some minor flooding along the coasts, but not enough to cause the mass decimation that the media is so fond of talking about...

@Tzuppy: People in Denmark already have a very efficient and cheap alternative to fossil fuel. It's called "Bio Mass" and is basically organic byproducts that are heated and churned into a liquid fuel that functions very similarly to gasonline and is infinitely renewable. If we did that here in America, the oil companies would go out of business...

I would watch as a new RPoL site rose from the ashes of its own demise, better and stronger and no longer called RPoL. It would be...

The Site Formerly Known As RPoL!

It's games would be remarkably similar, but it's gamers would swear they were new, experimental games that completely broke the traditional framework of an RPoL game. Except for the games where everyone just buggers each other, there's not much different you can do there.

And no, that last is not a challenge. horndogs

This game is the forum designed specifically for the type of question Emerald posted in the Lounge a little while ago. A "what would you do if (insert situation) happened?" Didn't you know that it was the Ugrishion aliens from Saturn XIV?  They first stimulated his front proprioceptive gland and then when he forgot to look at his hands they manipulated those to grab pills.  Everyone knows that the Ugrishionarians are notorious for wanting to experience the side affects of various pills from a safe distance of .3 micrometers away in the esophagus of a host.  How did you think Michael Jackson was able to hit those high notes, it was the Ugrishionarianalites.  Luckily, Doctor Who managed to use his sonic screwdriver and drive them out, but they, well, hurry up and catch up, Kagura! :)

Someone would let one rip and then Detective Vixcis would have to solve the mystery of who it was so that we could all get justice.
There would be many one on one interviews and crosschecking where Vixcis would use the many implements of torture she always carries around in her suitcase briefcase.
Eventually, after this avenue of investigation proves fruitless, with the exception of a few bananas Heath was hiding in his pants, she would seek another crack puzzle solver to aid her however firelizardkimi will be too busy arguing with Grant over which Bond movie was better to help.
Thus thwarted Vixcis would resort to making everyone play the silent game after each being force fed a can of baked beans, a whole cabbage and a raw onion to see who would break (wind) most easily however this proves ineffective when the only window in the room gets blown out due to the pressure of so many simultaneous emissions.
Ultimately though, Vixcis would come to the conclusion that he who smelt it in fact dealt it but no-one will remember who smelt it first and it will all have been a serious waste of time.

At that point Fiddles will grin widely and say quietly to Kagura: "Pull my finger..."

Power2 would do the only thing he could do- go completely, irreparably insane. The akward silence of the room would be too much to bear for Powers' feeble mind, and its only response is to act as any poorly-trained puppy would. Powers' mind collapsed, then proceeded to relieve itself on the carpet, followed by incessant whining for a strip of pig fetus-flavored jerkey.

Oddly enough, his body did not follow suit. Instead, Powers' life-confused husk stood up, and began making small talk with a particularly dark smudge on the wall. And for the sake of conversation, Power would often refer to his 'reverse-hot-tub', which was essentially a small pocket of incredibly cold air at the bottom of a massive pool of scalding hot water.

I would likely spend it on people...   people without foods, or clothing.  While I do like to be well off myself, the most I would do is perhaps set up a camping situation where I could fish, or forage, and than give the rest to real people in need in ways that would really help them.  I.E.  Teach the man to fish, not throw them a bone, and pray they leave you alone.

What if you could create a new element of your choice?

I'd call it Frogmatter, because it would stand out and people would look it up and then they'd learn about me and my ego would grow and I would feel good.

I guess in that vein, I could call it "Hydrogen Two Electric Boogaloo" or "Anime Funny Moments" because both of those things would also ruin a periodic table.

What if you could create a new element of your choice?

I would name it after it's atomic number minus one, so I could make it just a little harder for chemistry majors to memorize the periodic table.

For example, if the atomic number was 256, I would call it bipentpentium, instead of bipenthexium. If I ever got to give it a more permanent name (like how ununoctium became oganesson), I'd call it Element Two Fifty Five, because it would just be awful.

Icantrememberium: Don't know its properties, not sure where it would go on the periodic table and its atomic number is... wait, wait, I know this one. Also don't know the weight

What if you discovered a new element?

Being a longtime D&D player, I would call it Aleeval. Then I would build a religious structure and keep a sample of it on the altar. I would call it the Temple of Element Aleeval (Elemental Evil)...

Re: What if you knew you'd live to be 100?

If I knew I would live to be 100, I would jump off a 30 story building (or any other must-kill method) to see what would happen. Either a paradox would shatter reality, or I would end up as a spirit/ghost or disembodied consciousness for the remaining decades.

Either way would be way cooler than being a regular old person

I'd visit Fruggychum while he lies in a comatose state after his "accidental" fall of that 30 story building. The doctors say that he is 'technically' alive, but will never wake up.
