Jeopardy III

Just like the popular television game show except that you won't have to compete against Ken Jennings.  Someone asks for a specific category and then someone else thinks up a question for that category.  Just like Who's Line is it Anyways? the points don't count for anything.  If a puzzle has gone unattended for more than a week, assume it's dead and start a new one.

Here's the first statement, come up with the question for it...

Al Pacino and Burt Reynolds both turned down this role in Star Wars.

A movie based on a George Lucas script (he also made the movie).  The movie was great but the following trilogy that Lucas had someone else write for him was just really annoying, in my opinion, since pretty much none of the characters that we'd grown to love were around in it.  Amazingly enough, the question to this answer wasn't "What is any of the Star Wars movies or anything to do with Star Wars".

Re: Jeopardy III

I sympathize with that sentiment.  I did the same thing with my WoW account.  The nice thing about WC3 (and DOTA) is that it comes in one hour chunks; there is no continuous build up, just start at level one and play a game for an hour to level 25 and you're done.  The next game will start over with new teams at level 1 again.  It's sorta like the battlefields in WoW, but without the overarching progress between battles.

As with most games worth playing over and over, DOTA has a bit of a learning curve, so be ready to spend the first games sucking.

So I installed DOTA today and gave it a whirl.  I died endlessly with no clue how to even play the game.  Most of the time when I would ask for help people would complete ignore me.  Not impressed.

I'm sure it's fun, but I have little patience for something like that, and I had forgotten how annoying people on Battle.net can be.

Re: Jeopardy III

Yeah, I was afraid that might happen.  If you set up a time with me I can help train you.  After one or two training sessions you'll be fine.  I had never played the regular WC3 when I started DOTA; there's not much carry over.

One of the first things to learn is the items system that the map uses.  Unlike the normal game, items can be combined to form better items.  You may have noticed that there are shops with items and other shops with recipies.  The recipies tell you what items combine with what in order to create certain stronger items.  Let me see if I can dig up a beginner's FAQ from the web.

Try this:
http://forums.dota-allstars.co...php?showtopic=119608

You're right that many people on battlenet are a-holes.  I know you're comfortable with using your computer and mouse for games (you beat me at all the 1001GG stuff), so I know you can be a great DOTA player if you want to be.  Getting over the newbie hurdle is the hardest part.  Once you have the general idea, you can start to learn the details of different heroes.

I recommend that you pick one hero to learn, read up on that hero at dota-allstars.com, and then only play games with the mode "-apem" so that you can always pick the hero you chose.

If you'd like help picking out an easy starter hero, let me know.

Alladin was based upon and also a movie adaption of Arbian Nights, the story in particualr Alladin and the Magic Lamp.

it was also made into a trilogy of movies that were direct to video.

Took you so long to guess though, you may pick another category of the three remaining ones.

Very well, the correct answer was George Carlin.

In 1998 He spoke of things that he would like to watch on TV, fire truck tires and pieces of buildings falling from the sky. TV he would like to watch. three years later 9-11-01 happened, one year after that he was interviewed and asked, "How did you know?" Carlin had predicted 9-11 to the minute of what would happen in that small bit of his show

You are a good guesser.

Would you like to take a break or continue with one of the last two categories?

Final category is Medicine:

Final Jeopardy question: When used the least, it actually helpes the most. However when used it must be taken at least fifteen minutes before or fater any food or drink has been eaten or drunk. However it is not a common medicine. This medicine is used mostly by small offices that put their work into cheper and more resourceful forms of medicines. Yet this type of medicine is overlooked.

The "Corvette" of birds, it has been revered as a spiritual god by some cultures.  Other cultures have viewed it as some sort of demon.  It's been seen above the 20k marker on Everest.  Most of these are pretty similar, but the California varient is a weird varient that, although it looks the same, is genetically different enough to almost be another species.

I'm leaving the answer for the GMs, in case I'm not around to anwer it.

Yoss made 93 claims, thus holding the board of 2005, whilst Heath merely accomplished fifteen claims having only just started his claiming that year, and even then barely claiming but three times every other month.

Hint; The claim wars included thirty two players, only six players made it over even twenty posts.  Among them were Yoss, Fourlegged, raz, doulos, tintin, and cody coriva...  Try again

wow...   lost merely by exhausting options.   In the year 2005 Yoss knocked FourLegged down a peg, but in it's later days Tintin also downed FourLegged a pillar, attaining 68 crowns, leaving Fourlegged with 67

After his two year streak FourLegged was finally knocked down from being the ruler of the royals.  Finding true competition in Yoss.

It would come to be known as the war between the Owl and the Koala...   a great war written in every history book of ASWOT.

In reality whether they say who is, or not what I asked for was "William Hartnell from 1963 to 1966 played this BBC alstar" which is not the doctor, doctor who, or who is the doctor, but who is the first incarnation of the doctor.  While this means Athena was right, she really should have worded it as a Jeopardy answer :p
