Definitely not for eating!  A mother brought her crying little kid to me once when I was working as the medical person for a camp.  She'd caught him chewing a glowstick and smearing the glowing stuff around on his face on the 4th of July and now she was worried that he'd chewed up glass and he was worried that he might die.  I called 1800-222-1222, a number that everyone should have memorized, and they told me that he'd be fine.  So I told his mom and then told him what his mom wanted me to say, that since he hadn't died yet he might be ok, we'd have to wait and see, but that if he did live he should never ever chew on a glowstick again.
