Re: Haiku Conversation III

What?  Haikus are Good.
What is nicer than poems?
They make the gods pleased.

Look at the Romans.
They had the muses, art Gods.
They empower me.

Muses, Give me strength!
From New York to Japan!
My haikus will Soar!

Cut the middle man!
Force Haiku into my veins!
I bleed 5-7-5!

Such Epic Effort!
Exclamation Points Abound!
Powerful Haikus!

Cower and Tremble!
Grug comes to destroy your dreams!
Haikus armed for War!

Left, Left, Left Right Left.
Haikus march up to your door.
They Knock.  5-7-5

They storm in.  Haikus!
Stomping your plants and children!
Coming up the stairs!

You hide in your bed.
Cower under the covers.
Wishing they would leave.

But they still find you!
They ready their Guns.  Steady.
Aim... Fire!  5-7-5.

You lie there bleeding.
All hope has left your nation.
Grug rules the whole world.

Thank you, sweet Haikus!
Even if you die in war,
I will just make more!

There once was a Waster named Grug
Who was viewed as an insolent bug.
He did go insane, and took over the game,
'cause Haikus are his favorite drug.

Re: Haiku Conversation III

The Royal goal
can be Explained quite simply.
Either all or naught.

(BTW:
In order to be Monarch/King/Queen/Despot/Dictator/Ruler of the Board, a player must currently have the last post for every game on the front page (Notice threads are NOT included).  Once you have done this, come to this thread and make your claim!  Please make sure it is obvious when you are claiming and obvious when you are not claiming (just chatting).  Royalty will be crowned on the honor system, so don't make a claim unless you actually own the front page.  If you can't play honestly, this game will be coming down.

Clarifications: Royalty is gained when a user sees all threads (minus Notice threads) with his/her user name on the front page.  Posting in this thread is just for bookkeeping, but must be done within a few minutes of gaining royalty.  Therefore, if a poster has gained the threads on the front page, but another post comes before the claim is made in this thread, the claim is still valid.

To ease the burden on the Keeper of the Hall (the one who counts these claims for the records), please make sure it is clear when you are claiming (and not claiming) the throne.)

Re: Haiku Conversation III

I think you are wrong
schools cut the music classes
during money loss

colleges won't for
a legitimate degree
like music theory

If they cut the class
they'd be cutting chances for
musical people

plus, students don't whine
when they pay for their classes
less cranky children

students also care
what they are learning about
they listen and work.

(I've debated it. Teaching the high school college level is a lot easier than teaching the younger ones, because you have people that will actually try at the class and also be willing to learn from what the teachers have to say.)

The best way to test whether something is a syllable or not is to open your mouth, like you're saying a word, then put your hand under it. Hold it steady as you close your mouth, then say/mouth the word like normal. Every time your chin hits your hand, its a syllable.

Using this method, "Hours" is only 1 syllable, "Several" is 2.
