Time-Waster Flea Market IV

You enter an enormous market lined with booths and tents and stores of all kinds, shapes, and sizes.  Many of the shops are empty and waiting for an occupant.  This is the Time Waster Flea Market.

The currency of the market is the wot.  Each player starts with a number of wots equal to his or her post count and will receive one additional wot for every post made.  This posting income is taxed at ten percent to pay for the extra work required to do the accounting for ASWOT.  You can see the current bank accounts in the third post in the ASWOT Hall of Fame.

In the next post, the ASWOT Market Manager maintains the current listing of items for sale in the market.  All sales are assessed a ten percent tax paid by the seller.  The tax is rounded to the nearest wot, so there is no tax on items priced 4 or less.  To place an item on the list, or to remove an item from the list, state in your post the item name, price, and description.

There are very few restrictions on what can be bought and sold here as long as the only currency is the wot.  Just make sure you abide by the RPOL terms of use.  Also, you can't copy someone else's item without their permission.

I will add further details to these rules as needed.

You forgot my War Lambs. 8 Left.

Edit: You have until Christmas Eve to buy before they turn into War Sheep. Also, adding new item:

Permament Lambitude (50 Wots)
Keeps your war sheep lovably cuddly forever! However, they still know how to battle.

Praguepride, the Who's Who is usually 150 wots, but I just announced a half-off sale starting today, so it's only 75 wots if you buy it before the end of the year. But it only has listings for people who have been around for two or more years. If you want the new one, you'll have to wait until after I've gotten to know all you new people.

No, all you have to do is PM me saying that you'd like to use your Who's Who to look up about a player, and tell me who that player is. Do keep in mind that if the player is someone who wasn't around before the Time Vortex That Ate RPoL then the Who's Who won't have any information on them.

I am selling

Pocket Appeals for 150 Wots/use. Any time a pocket judge rules against you a Pocket Appeal may be used to begin a new trial using a new pocket judge... perhaps your own.

Re: Time-Waster Flea Market IV

OOH! I'm gonna start selling:

Pockets - Handy little bags sewn into pants and some dress shirts, perfect for housing any number of pocket-based organisms, such as the Pocket Judge, the Pocket Attorney, the Pocket Jury, etc. etc.

50 wots for one organism
75 wots for two organisms
100 wots for three

And the special of the day: 1000 wots for a Pocket of Holding! (Functions exactly as if it were a bag of holding, simply sewn into a pair of pants. WARNING: Do not, under any circumstances, place a Chaos Orb into the Pocket of Holding!)

All sales are final.

Re: Time-Waster Flea Market IV

NEW ITEMS!!

Pocket Time Vortex: After more than a year of study, I have finally managed to replicate, small scale, the effects of a time vortex. Each PTV is one-use only and will dissipate once used. The PTV can stop one person posting for one minute*, but can only be used in the Lounge or a roleplaying thread. Using more than one PTV at a time is too dangerous, so ownership is limited to one at a time. Price: 2000 wots

Pocket Defense Attorney: It will defend you from your pocket against any allegations held against you. Price: 1500 wots

And of course:

Pocket Prosecutor: The Pocket Defense Attorney's natural enemy. He will bring forth allegations against the Pocket Defense Attorney's client and do everything in his power to make them stick. Price: 1500 wots

*When using the Pocket Time Vortex, the player being targeted does not have to agree to stop posting for 1 minute. If this is the case, then the PTV can be reused at a later date.

Do you have pocket attornies? Pocket prosecutors? Well, they need a place to attorny or prosecute, so why not let them play around in your handy-dandy Pocket Courtroom.

Yes, a hero with any single power costs the base price of 250 and then you add 100 for every additional power.

Re: Time-Waster Flea Market IV

No, no, Kitty's right... people get confused when you give them the wrong name for a game. Especially when it was one that they suggested... and most of us who are still active around here have suggested at least one game that ended up running for an incarnation or two.

Fewer of us have suggested games with more than 5 incarnations. And if you were wondering why I chose 5, I just happen to like 5 as a number. Its multiples are easily handled and always end in either a 5 or a 0. It's a nice round number. It also happens to be halfway between 0 and 9.

Is that my fault? I can always lend you some of my own personal samples. I think one of my AIDS section is mutating quite nicely. I can give out free samples to anyone who wants to experiment. I even have a virus which I just cooked up myself by adding EBOLA and the G-virus. Culturing it for about 6 months. and the end result was fascinating, it reanimates lazy people in getting off their couch and actually make them do something useful.

Soulvirus:
hmmm... I need to find a second poring... generation... poring.. digivice.. poring..

What do you need one of those for? But since you insist (and nobody else did anything about it)

Digivice (1st generation) 10 wots. It's a square of plastic about the size of a large wristwatch with a tiny LCD screen in the middle and a couple of buttons around the edges. If you're really lucky, you might be able to make something digivolve.

Digivice (2nd generation) 100 wots. Larger than the 1st generation digivice, this looks a bit like an oval walkie talkie. Actually, it might just be an oval walkie talkie, but you'd never know the difference, would you? (Comes in 5 different colors)

Digivice (3rd generation) 1000 wots. This digivice has a card-swipe slot along one side so that you can swipe cards. Somehow this makes monsters bonded to you stronger.

Digivice (4th generation) 10000 wots. It's like a brick cellphone with a DNA scanner on the top. Rumor has it that if you can find some special data and install it in this digivice, then it will let you turn into a weird monster for a little while if you swipe it across the barcode that appears on your hand.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
... okay that's bordering on ridiculous, so I'll stop there, although apparently there are at least two more types of digivice that I never saw the series for...

Re: Time-Waster Flea Market IV

I just found some things in the mad science lab.

DIMENSIONAL SNOWGLOBES (350 WoTs)
Contains a functioning alternate dimension, complete with inhabitants. Has USB compatability so you may hook it up to your computer. Created as a simulated environment for the testing of doomsday devices, your computer (with the included software) will utilize the snowglobe to monitor the effects of your machine, the number of deaths, whether it matched your intended effect, society's salvageability, and how likely the event of a resistance to your iron-fisted rule is.

DOOMSDAY DEVICE STARTER KITS: LI'L SILVANA EDITION (70 WoTs)
From the packaging:

Created by the MSO, this enjoyable kit for your little children (or other crimes against man and nature) will make sure they get into mad science early. Included in this kit are mini climate-changing rays, the core-clutch supermagnet, a gravity ray, and directions on how to build your very own lava-spewing volcano base in your back yard, in addition to many other child-safe (as long as they're the ones operating it) doomsday devices!

Re: Time-Waster Flea Market IV

I'd like to drop some new items on the market, direct from the strange land of Mayhem, formerly of EGS!

Mayhem Gear:
TF Gun                                               A variety of models.  All come with the standard forms: Cat, Fox, Wolf, Hawk, aaand... there should be
more, but I'm drawing a blank.  There is also the ability to store multiple variations of each form,
and change them at a computer.

Pistol                           50 wots           Your basic TF gun.

Rifle                           100 wots           Great for sniper shots.

  SMG                             200 wots           Rapid-fire FTW!

Extra forms                      50 wots           This mod lets you use any form you can think of.

Extra settings                   50 wots           This mod gives you settings such as random, delay, and repeat(keeps changing after being shot).

Tractor Beam mod                 50 wots           Pulls things towards you.

TF Saber                          100 wots           For close combat.  Only takes one hit!

TF Grenade                         25 wots           Explosive-ness.  Nice splash.

Uryuoum Work Suit                 150 wots           No matter what form you shift into, this suit will stretch to match!  It's also very durable.
For an extra 20 wots, comes in camo!

Enchanted Diamond Katana          100 wots           Enchanted to never dull or break!

6-pack Unlabeled Soda              20 wots           Variety of effects include shrinking, growing, and transforming into just about anything.

Unmarked Pack of
What Could Be Gum                  10 wots           Could do anything.  The first piece has a tendency to explosiveness.

Other Stuff:
Infinite Bag of Dice               50 wots           An extradimensional bag containing an infinite number of every die imaginable, d2, d3, d54, di...

Infinite Scroll of Doom-ish        40 wots           An infinite scroll.  Useful for keeping track of stuff.

Emu                               200 wots           Great for riding.  Bit of a temper though.

Super Bouncy Ball                  10 wots           It will never slow down, and sometimes even speeds up.

Magic Color-changing Slinky        10 wots           Changes color with each step!

Super Laser Pointer                25 wots           Really powerful.  Can pop balloons.  Comes in the color/s of your choice.

Cookies                             5 wots ea.       Chocolate chip, peanut butter, sugar, triple chocolate chunk, macadamia nut, salt-n-glass, or Chaos

Jar of Atomic Fireballs            15 wots           That's a big jar...

Random Junk:
Personalized Dewrag                 4 wots
Moodring                            2 wots
Blank Yo-yo                         2 wots
Set of markers                      3 wots
Personalized Pen                    2 wots
Towel                               5 wots
Mashed potato ball                  1 wot
Loaf of bread                       1 wot

Dead fish                           1 wot
Catnip mouse                        1 wot
Squirrel teddy                      2 wots
Used brick                          1 wot
Shiny hubcap                        1 wot

EVERYONE PLEASE NOTE: The bank thread is to be assumed as inaccurate!  If you want to know what your total wots would be, as if you had never made any sales or bought anything, PM me.  I have no way of knowing at this point what transactions took place when.  Post #810 in the Poster of the Week thread has a list of all wots gained from posting from December 12, 2008, through August 21, 2009.

Thank you.

Red Egg - 100 wots Quantity:30
Blue Egg - 100 wots Quantity:30
Yellow Egg - 100 wots Quantity:30

Secondary Eggs

Orange Egg - 150 wots Quantity:10
Purple Egg - 150 wots Quantity:10

Re: Time-Waster Flea Market IV

Now selling the Anti-Malarial Rifle. This vaccine dispensor will give you, your friends, and everyone around you a powerful dose of Malaria Vaccine ... with pinpoint accuracy. This baby can shoot a syringe eight-hundred yards down range into a target, only to release its payload of six ounces of dead malaria into the 'patient'. A thirty round clip, two fire modes (single action, three round burst), and a super accurate graduated sight will make anyone within a mile of you cringe at the thought of being immune to malaria.

With every order of one of our Anti-Malarial Rifles, we will throw in a Malnurished African Child Call Whistle. When you're vaccinating in Africa, let the africans come to you! The patented technology bounces sound around the village, making it sound like armed militia are attacking from opposite your position! The Africans will practically run into you're syringes with this whistle, made 100% all natural materials (Including Polar Bear Bone, Hawaiian Monk Seal Hearts, Ocelot Teeth, Giant Panda Skin, The Eye of the Tiger, and who would we be if we didnt add Moon Bear Claws?). The whistle is 100% biodegradable, and each has only one use. But don't fear, we are manufacturing these whistles faster than dick cheney is killing the animals they happen to be made of, so dont fret!

Now selling for 800 wots.
NOW MADE WITH 100% ENDANGERED SPECIES NATURAL MATERIALS!!!

You know, if something isn't being sold you can "invent" it and sell it yourself. Most people have product lines (Hammer&trade is mine, but there's also the Pocket&trade line and the Portable&trade line from different people) of strange inventions, but you can sell "normal" things too...

So bear with your GM team as we try to end the recession and hand you all the money you deserve.

In other words: let the government shut down the economy temporarily, and we will fix everything.

Not at all. All items sold in the Flea Market are still available for purchase, regardless of a person's activity level. Also, if you are looking for PortableTM products other than Yoss's, remember that I have 2 for sale as well, with royalties to him of course.

So anyway, hopefully in the next couple days I'll have the rest of this sorted. Like I said though, the hard part is trying to figure out who gets how many, because I don't have numbers for everyone as far as post increase since Dec 2008...

Re: Time-Waster Flea Market IV

The problem is the same as I spoke with the other GMs about a while back, and that is, since this was let go for so very long... I have no way of knowing how much money everyone should have earned from the time the economy was last updated (about 2 years ago) to now. I have asked for suggestions and ideas, but never got any. And frankly I'm stuck.

Those new people who have come to the game recently should be easy, your money will be equal to the number of posts you have. But everyone else... I have no idea. I know the total number of wots there should be in the economy, and last I calculated that means there's like 100k wots that should be added and distributed around. But I want to do so fairly, and not give too many to the wrong person, or whatever.

If I can get some good ideas on how to bring the economy up to date fairly, we can get this place up and running again.

Re: Time-Waster Flea Market IV

Well, figure out how many wots everyone should have right now.  Then you can go one of two ways.  Either subtract what they used to have (and figure they spent it all) or just reset their wots (and give them more if they did in fact spend it all).

I'll make it easy for you to calculate how many wots I personally have.  Figure out how many I should have now, then subtract 18,670 (because that's how many wots I've spent).  Edit: that's actually too many wots for me to have spent -- I must have earned more from somewhere.

Should we all take a vote on this or are the GM's going to fiat a decision soon?  Possibly give people less wots than they should have or possibly give people more wots than they should have?

Somebody could possibly play with the archive to figure out how many wots a person should have had when the last update was posted and then compare that to how many wots they were listed as having, but that'd probably be hours and hours of work and really not worth the effort, seriously, it's not worth it.

Re: Time-Waster Flea Market IV

I haven't heard anything from the other GMs on this. So I'm all for taking it to a vote.

I don't like the idea of resetting everyone's wots, cause those of us who have (rightly) earned more over the years from selling things don't want to lose it all. But I'm willing to consider it, as I don't have many viable solutions right now.

The numbers I have are: The amount of money everyone had when last the flea market was updated (about 2 years ago)
The amount of total wots that should be in circulation now (based on total post count)
So I could do a simple subtraction, minus what everyone used to have from what everyone should have and then just split that lump sum number evenly among everyone. That would let people keep the money they already have and bring the economy up to date. However, it would mean that some people get more wots than they actually earned, and others get less. But that at least would be better than resetting everyone's wots completely.

Ideas?

Dragon:

I thought Cody made a Google spreadsheet to keep track and so that we'd never lose the data.  Lemme go check the GM thread...

I think we should start off where they're last recorded and compare it against what a reset would look like.  For players with more wots recorded in the record than they have posts (the reset) will take their wots from those who have been z-ombified, assuming there are enough inactive wots to make up for it.

Re: Time-Waster Flea Market IV

From what I can tell by reading farther back here is that there is no way this is getting revived unless one of two things happens after we manage getting someone willing to work it's system.

A; they go back and relog everything from day one as I have under the RR, or reset from a set point (like the beginning of this thread) and relog from there.

B; we do a full on reset with fresh wots, and everything.  counting the posts made so far as unspent, and undivided per the according people that have made their posts. (i.e. FourLegged gets a starting advantage of 40k wots.

So far I honestly can't see myself working this thread, even if I were the market manager I would only log wots and tax them accordingly, but there is no way I'm taking the title until I've caught the RR records up.  Than I might catch the MM records up if nobody else has made any effort to, but I would not want the position permanently.  I'm only willing to pick up the slack once the keeper, and royal records are all up to date accordingly first.

I don't get the purpose of a market when there isn't anything to actually use the items on (i.e. buying a pellet gun to use in zombie apocalypse, or a rubber duck to use in the ASWOT dungeon) so it's not on my list of important info to update right this minute.

I don't know how much that would help, it would still require an archive check, which would still need to verify that, or if it were reset than it would act like nobody has sold of bought anything.  I can see myself checking the archive for this but we're talking a lot of time between now and when I finish RR updates.
