Slot Machine Game: The Movie. Except for two things, it's actually titled
Sunspring, and there is no slot.
Back in 2016, some guys decided to see if a computer could randomly generate an award-winning movie script. This is how they did it. They started with some AI-like software which auto-completes sentences in smart phones. Then fed the software with scripts from dozens of classic and also cheesy sci-fi movies. They named it Jetson. Then they seeded it with the name "Sunspring," one line of dialog, and one stage direction.
Here is what happened. First, the software announced that it had renamed itself "Benjamin." Secondly, it spat out the script for an eight minute long short film of three characters. Thirdly, it generated the lyrics to a theme song for the movie.
The producers of this experiment gave themselves forty-eight hours to film the script. The result? Pretty darn awesome. Granted, the story makes no sort of sense. The cast, director, and musical composer, however, really poured a lot of talent into this project. Robert Laws (gamer designer & author) described it as "a computer having a dream." It's well worth the nine minute investment to watch this movie.
