Maybe? Let me check....no you're right. It was the D&D Red Box kit. Had some basic rules and an beginner mission where you break out of a prison complete with a pretty decent prison dungeon map plus little cardboard standees for the monsters. Mostly goblins and orcs and such. I think it was for levels 1-3.

So this dates me, but originally it worked like this:

1) Red boxed set were the D&D Basic Rules
2) Blue boxed set were the D&D Expert Rules
3) In the early 80s, AD&D was introduced, and it was all through books, no boxes.
4) In the late 80s, AD&D 2nd edition was introduced, continued with books but expanding with many additional types.

I had everything up until then--still have most of it.

I joined RPoL on July 17, 2002--18 years. Wow!

How do you know when you joined RPoL? Do you just have legendary memory or am I missing something?
I apparently joined here in 2007, which is...wow. Not sure I wanna think about that too much.

I go to the first game I created and look at the first private message, which was my characters asking to join when we moved over from Playbyweb. There might be an easier way to figure it out, but that's what I did.

Ha, who even knows what the first thing I joined was...but the oldest one I'm still in says 2006 and that sounds about right. Which is only slightly terrifying.

Also, I'm not 100% sure about this, but if you hover over "user preferences" on the main screen, I believe it shows you your number in the order in which you joined RPOL. So, for instance, I think for me it means I was the 1909th player to join. That's my theory anyway...

FourLegged douses the entire Lounge in hand sanitizer and sets the whole place ablaze. "Can't be too clean."

Be sure to ventilate well, too.
