Re: Act 3:  The Assault

"I've passed the basic company exams for routine transport operations on everything except astrogation, and I've done about 200 rotuine shuttle hours ... but I have zero combat experience. As a pilot combat manuevers will be very shaky for me ... smooth runs should be OK. On the other side of the coin as Junior-Chief Spacehand I've had my ship running smooth as salak-cloth for a three month shakedown cruise."

"I'm with Daniel ... whatever I can do to help will be my 100%. You can count on it - One ..."
Darak says like he is very accustomed to a rank structure and  each time he says 'One' he is unconsciously pausing where a 'Sir' or a 'Captain' would go with it. Habits and proper military training stay with a person.

...

Unless he is driected elsewhere the first chance he gets (doors open, etc.) he will go to examine Roy, Jek, and the downed Merc. Along the way he will say to the Commander "One ... I have a limited supply of some custom medicine. This treatment is from my homeworld and it very effective ... but I only have enough to treat one more man right now. Lucky I managed to hold onto any of it at all really - given circumstances. In short, it is a booster that can usually do one better than medkit drugs. The S.O.P. I am trained in is to bring field cases that are non-critical back as close to operational as possible and to stablize the more serious cases for safe transport. It's your call if I do it by the book or if you need priority on one of these three patients. We might need stretchers from the medical bay ... if they have em."

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

It takes Jamie less than three minutes to blow the locks on the doors holding Daniel, Darak, Roy and Jek.  By then Flash has come back dejected.  Someone had changed all the codes and the Duros was unable to break them.

Darak wasted no time.  Grabbing up his medical gear he moved into the opposite room.  He worked as quickly as he could and soon he'd fixed the worst of Jek and Roy's wounds.  Slowly the pair started coming around.  Once done there Darak moved to Nirro and brought the slicer around also.

Current VP/WP
Jamie - 5/38 3/12
Mark - 68/82 12/12
Flash - 13/26 10/10
Devon - 13/27 12/12
Exilim - 23/23 12/12
Daniel - 5/21 2/13
Darak - 1/16 14/14
Nirro - 0/17 1/12
Roy - 0/10 1/10
Jek - 0/17 2/12

Roy here you must be the mercs that I was told about, good thing I knew I was dead.  Anyways I'm a programer I changed a bunch of the codes around here her to make our movement a little safer and powered down the AA gun. If any of you seen a heavy blaster around here I would like it the slavers took mine.

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

As he crawled back to consciousness his first thought was to seriously wish he hadn't.  His chest felt like it was molten metal.  Every breath hurt and caused him to cough, increasing the pain.  His limbs were shaky and the light hurt his eyes.

'I will never go lightly on the analgesic with any patient' he swore to himself.

As his eyes started to focus he noticed Darak sitting over him.

"Hey there.  I guess this means we won."  he managed a weak smile.

Flash gives him a look.  "So you're the one who messed with the codes.  Too many slicers spoil the system," he adds with a smirk.  He hefts his heavy repeater.  "Anyway, I don't know if this one is yours or not, but it's mine now."

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

As Darak treats people he says with a smile and freindly bedside manner "Welcome back. Yes, indeed Jek we won ...and I have to thank you again for risking everything helping us out. You got a little unlucky and cuaght some fire, but you'll live - without scarring if your lucky. Thank goodness you have strong vitals. Take it easy with quick motions ... does that feel OK? "

"Ah Roy, your trick with disabling doors worked out very well. Let me take out the Trandsohan straggler who was left to finish us off. How is that ... watch the wound there ... don't move too fast with that. To fill you both in the Captain? of the Mercs is using the handle "One" right now - he's not here but I suspect that Mr. "Five" here is going to be our squad leader for the moment, and "Two?" is it? He seems pretty handy with that big repeater - very reasurring to have a good heavy weapons man on our side."

"Hello there ... Eight? is it? Nice to meet you. You'll pull through but take it easy with this ... right now you need to make slow and careful motions only. Like the others ... slow and steady. That feel OK?"

OOC: Most of that is just bedside manner, you don't have to respond to it unless you want to emphasize that you are all basically being held together by wound sealant, burn patches, and pain killers of various sci-fi varieties :)

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

Nirro opened his eyes and the invasion of light suddenly made his head hurt. I wish I hadn't done tha he mutters to himself. Once his eyes start o focs he notic4es the newcomers and assumed that at least some of the slaves have been rescued.

Two, Five, would you give me a hand here? If one of the others gioves him a hand Nirro will ge to his feet leaving the discarded Blaster Rifle on the floor. I should never have thought to use that clumsy thing. He looks at Darek, Thanks, now I only feel a little dead and not a whole lot dead

Five, what are our orders?

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

Jamie finishes with his work quickly, having mostly ignored the others to concentrate on his task.  He had given One a nod, but that was it.
"I'm Five.  It seems I blow things up and give orders.  Let's see..."
Jamie looked around the room for a few seconds, counting the cells.  His happy demeanor fades and he seems suddenly depressed.
"Oh, no!  I don't have nearly enough to free all these slaves.  The last thing I want to have to do is leave some behind."
He looked back to the faces of his comrades, and those who had volunteered to help.  He grimaced slightly as he gave his orders conflicting with the Commander's.
"I'm changing the plan a bit.  I can't blow all these slaves out so our needs have changed.  Eight, proceed to the hangar to assist One and Eleven.  Two, go back to the security center and download everything you can; Jek, go with him and strip the place of anything useful in prep for departure.  Roy, I want you to go back to that computer.  Fix whatever it is you did and prepare to open these doors on my mark.  Do you have a commlink?  Daniel, I want you to take this and stick with Roy; keep him alive.
"Darak, I want you to come with me.  I'm going to blow up the barracks and I could use someone to watch my back."

Jamie removed two extra blaster rifles from his back and handed them to Daniel and Darak as he examined the faces of the mercenaries.
"Are there any questions?"

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

Jek stood slowly, the painkillers finally kicking in.  He still hurt. . .a lot but at least it reminded him he was alive.

When 'five' gives his orders Jek nods and hobbles over to the Duros he's named as 'two.'.

"Two is it?  Well sir, my name is Jek or you can call me Doc.  If we've got a lot of things to carry I've got a few trolleys in the medical centre which might help.  Just let me know what you need.  Not up for much of a fight but I can still carry things."

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

As his old habits from the academy started to kick back in gear Daniel snapped to attention as five issued the orders. Listening carefully to what was said  he responded with "No questions from me Sir." when five prompted him with the question.

Daniel took the rifle that was offered to him and went to a rest stance as he turned to Roy. "Let's move out Roy. There's plenty of work to do."

Five would you like me to try and slice thes doors open? If you can't blow them all open, I may be able to overide the locks. Every breath hurts but Nirro tries not to let it show o his face.

OOC:  Just a note for Roy.  As you set the passcodes on the doors it will take you about 10 seconds to open them once you get the guard room.  Jamie you might wanna assign him some extra jobs

"I may require your services, Eight, but One has requested your help in the hangar, and Roy changed the codes to start with; I'd rather have him on that this time around."
Turning to Roy, Jamie added, "If at all possible I want you to open the doors on my mark.  It may be a few minutes, but we don't want the slaves wandering around long before we can pick them up and get out of here.  Or, if you can give the codes to Daniel, first make sure he can get those doors open, then move to the hangar to help One."

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

Darak is with Five when it is time to head out.

In the brief moment that five is giving orders he checks over his medical supplies, and squars himself away. Though he can't use the rifle effectively, he does make sure to take along an extra power pack. Another standard power pack for his blaster pistol should guarantee he has ammo for task at hand.

Though he spent most of his life as a Doctor, several years of training in the junior officer program had left it's mark. In sorting himself out he spared no attention to detail - as if he were in unfirom. Quick motions spoke of drill, pocket flaps needed fastening, shoes needed to be tighter, and he really must look pretty shabby with his recent lack of shaving ...

Feeling his beard he does have an idea to grab any remaining grenades and the respirators from the fallen trandoshans. He will offer a respirator and all but one of the stun-gas Grenades (if any remain) to Five.

He will also loot any other useful gear from the fallen guards to better equip himself.

"No, I'm Five, and One is in the hangar right now," Jamie corrected the programmer.
"Don't open anything else yet, we need to keep these people in one place for now.  Alright, let's move out!"
Unless there are any more questions, Jamie will stow the extra rifle on his back again, ready his own, and lead Darak outside towards C&C.
"We should check the communications center first; there should be a few bound Trandoshans in there.  If not we'll have to watch out for them.  If they're still there we will proceed to the barracks."

Keeping an eye on both the barracks and medical centre doors, Exilim settles back into the role of quietly keeping a lookout for potential trouble, the heavy repeater ready to fire.

As before when things were more settled his mind recalls parts of his previous life and his reasons for joining up with the Commander. The thought of the Commander reminds him that there is still more to be done. He makes himself start thinking of what may be ahead and the plans that are yet to be completed.
