Re: Act 3:  The Assault

"I don't like this.  I'll go down there and check this out; you look in there for a computer and see what you can do," Jamie whispered, indicating the empty guard room.
He raised his blaster to the ready and stalked off down the second hallway, trying to make no noise and ready to shoot any Trandoshans that appeared.

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

As Jamie and Nirro prepare to move up the hallway the sound of blasterfire erupts from the hallway to the north.  No laserfire appears so they are clearly not shooting down the hall but at somebody else.

As the pair relax slightly, a Trandoshan steps around the corner.  He is taller than all the other guards do date.  He is wearing a combat jumpsuit that looks well used and maintained.  Slung over it is a belt with twin holsters at the hips and a bandoleer with various blades and grenades on it.  A wicked looking knife with a metre-long blade hangs on his back.  He carries twin heavy blasters in his hands.

He hesitates for maybe a mircosecond or two, which demonstrates he is no stranger to battle.  He snaps off a hasty shot with one of his pistols and ducks back into the hallway just as Nirro and Jamie return fire.  All three shots miss their mark, but the Trandoshan's blast only missed Nirro by less than a handspan.

OOC:  The trandoshan is clearly not a common guard like the others.  It's likely he'll be a lot harder to take down.  He currently is hiding around the corner which provides him cover.  The hallway offers no cover to you.  A move action could put you back outside (allowing you cover) or move you up to the bifurcation of the hall (negating everyones cover).

On the bright side, if he maintains cover he can only shoot at you with one pistol rather than two!

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

Nirro bursts into action, firing a shot that strikes the wall near the Trandoshan.  Without pause, Nirro runs for the door and dives through it, expecting a blaster bolt in the back with every step.  Jamie moves into action a little slower than Nirro.  He too fires a blaster bolt that misses then runs for the door.  His departure is greeted by a blaster bolt that strikes the flank of his lower back but is turned aside by his armour.

The pair take up cover outside the jail door.

OOC:  Jamie and Nirro are now outside the jail door.  You both know have partial cover (as does the Trandoshan).  Flash you can obviosuly see Jamie and Nirro now (Exilim you can't see them).  Flash can't see who they are shooting at of course.

Jamie I've had to control your moves as you haven't posted.  Hopefully you'll be able to post this round.  The team needs their team leader.  Mark is not there so you're calling the shots at the moment.

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

As Jamie recognizes a trained soldier he makes the split-second decision to let his brain guide him rather than his feelings.  After firing off a shot at the obvious leader of the Trandoshans and muttering "Stand still so I can hit you!" he retreated to the outdoors to make a comm call.
See if I ever go anywhere without armor again!
"Five to all available units; converge on the detention center!  If you've got any of those grenades bring them with you.  There's a cowboy inside; Eight and I can't handle this on our own."
Jamie once more changes the setting on his blaster rifle to multifire, standing far enough to the side of the door to gain complete cover from anyone inside.

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

The commander sighed.  'Nothing ever ran smooth'.  He flicked on his comm.

"Belay that order.  Everyone hold your position.   If he's in the detention centre he's trapped and if he tries to leave two can cut him down.  Keep him contained until I get there."

He turned to Devon.  "Keep working on the ships.  Get those codes cracked.  I'll try to free up who I can to help."

Opening the hanger door enough to get out, Mark secured his repeater in his hands and jogged towards the jail.  Once he got there he stood against the wall near Jamie.  His eyes run up and down the team leader, taking in Jamie's injuries but he says nothing regarding them.

"Five.  Sitrep."

Nirro leans out just far enough to get a clear line down the coridoor. The moment the Trandoshan leans out to shoot he will fire.

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

Watching the courtyard from the overlooking rooftop, Exilim begins to feel frustrated at the situation. With Flash at the heavy repeater, Exilim allows himself a brief moment to scan the area surrounding the compound.

His attention snaps back to the courtyard as he hears Jamie ask for assistance. He focuses on the medical centre, realising even as he does so that he doesn't have line of sight. Cursing, his frustration builds knowing that at present all he can do is watch for further reinforcements.

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

Jamie breathed a slight sigh of relief as the Commander appeared.  As well as he could while keeping his rifle at the ready, he used hand gesetures to visually outline the interior for Mark.
"Hallway here; guard room at the end, was empty, probably isn't anymore; another hallway comes off the side and splits at the end; at least three guards back there in a firefight with someone else; one - probably the leader - is really good.  He's a little taller than the others, armored, armed to the teeth with grenades, and he uses two heavy blasters - at the same time.  I can't take him; I'm pretty much spent, Sir, and shot to Kessel."

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

Mark nodded as he listened to the report.  Every so often he fired a volley down the hallway.  He didn't bother to look and aim, merely fired shots to keep the enemies from charging.

"Very good five.  Now replace two on the repeater, you're no good to me dead.  I'll keep eight with me.  Then get on the comm and have four get over here if things are still clear.  Have him secure the facility then have him join me."

"Two.  Take position at the medical centre entrance.  You may get a chance to use some grenades after all.  Eight, turn your damn comm on or get your ears syringed.  Eleven and I have both been comming you.  Pay attention in the future."

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

Once Jamie and Flash swap positions he gets on the comm again.

"Okay here's the game plan.  Five, keep on the repeater and take down anyone you see.  We can't wait for four so we'll do it like this.  I'll keep them pinned down and distracted here.  Two, you enter via the medical centre and take eight with you.  If this guy keps using the corridor for cover from me, you should get an unobstructed shot at him.  If he moves to defend against you he exposes himself to me.  A classic flanking maneuver.

Move out."

Mark fires another burst down the corridor.  Whilst he tries to hit any Trandoshan who shows his face, he is happy just to keep them pinned down and exposed to Flash and Nirro.

"Sir!" Jamie saluted the Commander respectfully before moving off toward the repeater.
"Four, this is Five," Jamie proceeded on the comm as he reached the repeater.  "You have orders to join us and secure the facility, then to join One."
Jamie readied himself at the repeater, looking thoroughly around the courtyard for any Trandoshans.
Here you are, Jamie, on the turret, whilst others are on the front lines.

"Yes sir.  Eight..." Flash's voice fades off, then he motions for Nirro to follow him.  Flash slips into the med center and heads around to get a good view, pausing for Nirro to catch up.
"Finally, off to the front line!  Although, the turret's not so bad..."

OOC: Remember, that grenade launcher and its mini grenades are still next to the turret.

Re: Act 3:  The Assault

Flash and Nirro entered the medical centre without trouble.  The door was unlocked and the room unoccupied, save for a dead trandoshan.  Moving to the door connecting the medical centre to the jail hallway, the pair found that open too.

Peeking down the hall Flash had a clear view of three trandoshans.   One was dead, halfway down the corridor.  The other two were at the south end of the corridor where it branched out east and west.

One of the Trandoshans was against the wall shooting down the corridor to the east.  This was the one who was trading shots with the commander.  The other stood behind him.  He was pulling a grenade from his bandoleer.  Neither had noticed Flash yet.  Nirro was further back in the room having not reached the doorway yet.

OOC:  Mark is trading fire with the Trandoshan leader with minimal effect.  Jamie is on the repeater but is seeing nothing.  Xil is (assumedly) packing up his sniper rifle in preperation to move.

OOC: How far apart are the two Trandoshans?

OOC:  About 2 metres max.  One guard is leaning against the left (eastern wall) shooting.  The other is in the middle (in line with the last pair of prison doors).
