Prison Cell 8

It had been two days since the ship had arrived here.  Wherever here was.  After a flight in cramped, stinky quarters with three times the appropriate numbers of passengers the group had arrived at this slaving compound.  With a precision that suggested experience the prisoners were herded off and moved into prison cells.

There were 16 cells in total, 8 a side.  Each cell was big enough to comfortably sleep two.  This was problematic as each cell contained a minimum of 4 and up to 6 slaves.  A magcard was needed to open each lock and these were carried only by the guards.  These same guards carried blaster pistols and stun batons to keep prisoners in check.

Most of the slaves were emotionally broken down and sat quietly and dejected.  Their fires had burned out.  They did not wail as this would only call down a beating from their Trandoshan guards.  There was always at least one patrolling the facility and more outside.

Cell 8 was different than the others.  It had the same dimensions and minimal amenities and also contained 4 slaves.  Two of these however still had eyes that burned with fire and minds that dreamed of escape.  So far the pair had not found a way but neither had they given up hope.

They had no idea of the day or time.  It was assumedly night as only one guard stood watch.  They had no obvious item to use as a weapon.  Even if they got out of their cells only two doors were visible.  The one they were led in on their first day, the one that led outside.  The other was just outside their cell and led to the medical facility.  Both doors required both mag swipecard and keycode access.

Some of the slaves who had been there longer spoke well of the doctor who practiced there.  Unlike most of the slavers he did what he could to aid the injured.

They would find a way.  They would taste freedom.  Or they would die trying.

OOC:  Welcome aboard guys.  You're sharing a cell with 2 other slaves.  The 2 with you are broken and of little use.  Your cell consists of two double bunks and a whole in the ground for a 'fresher.  A Trandoshan guard periodically does his rounds.

Welcome aboard!

Daniel watches the quard go by. He scowls in disdain and looks towards Roy, nodding in response to his question. "And you're Roy right?" He thinks for a second about Roy's plan and then speaks again. "I don't like this place any more than you do but we are going to have to be careful. I'm good enough with my fists that I think I can take him but we've got to have his card and the keycode and trandoshans aren't generally known for their willingness to talk...." Daniel cracks his knuckles and looks in the guard's direction to make sure he is out of ear shot. "However, they are pretty stupid so we might be able to trick him some how...."

Roy looks around some more. Waits for the guard to move way after one of his rounds.  leans over to Dan "Okay I think it will be best If I play sick when he opens the gate  and steps in you rush in from behind.   Roy looks around to make sure the guard is not in ear shot. "if he calls for a doctor or others to help I will just keep playing sick Like I just fainted or something and we can try something else later.    Roy keeps Looking down the hall to make sure the guard isn't coming.  If there are two or more I don't know what we can do.  I don't think we will be able to over power more then one at a time untill we get some weapons.

"Ok if we do get out of our cell I suggest we head through there." Daniel pointed at the door leading to the meidcal facility. "We aren't going to last 10 seconds out in the open once we get outside unless we've got some weapons. It's not much but maybe we can find something in there." He chuckled. "Plus that doctor might just prove to be a useful hostage. He should know the layout of the base and could tells where we need to go. If all else fails he would still be good as a shield too."

Re: Prison Cell 8

When Daniel calls out for the guard it doesn't take long for the scowling Trandoshan to arrive at the door.  Looking in through the observation port in the door he snorts and then backs away.  You hear him muttering something in Dosh, presumedly through a commlink.

About 5 minutes later a swipe card is heard being passed through the lock.  As it does a stern voice yells.  "SLAVES ON BUNKS.  NOW!"  All the slaves bar Daniel ran to their bunks immediately and lay down as ordered.  Roy, already on his bunk plays the role of the fainted man to the hilt.

As this is said, a human, probably in his mid-twenties walks into the cell.  Seeing Daniel still standing he pointed to the bunk.

"Better do as they say.  They wont let me look at the sick man until you do as your told.  They tend to get testy."

OOC:  You can both see that there are two trandoshans standing outside the door with blaster pistols drawn.  They don't look too friendly.  The human stands just inside the door.

Seeing the situation is not working out in there favor Daniel begrudingly climbs onto his bunk. He doesn't relax however instead he sits in a state of readiness just in case the opportunity presents itself or something goes wrong. He watches the doctor carefully from his bunk, looking for anything that might be a useful weapon, and says in the most caring voice he can muster. "I don't what happened to him. He had been complaining about some shooting pains in his chest so it might be something serious."

Jek looks over to Daniel.  "Yes, I'm sure he'll be fine as long as he rests and does nothing silly.  Its so easy to hurt yourself around here.  Problem with that of course is that you can get others hurt with you."

"I'll just get that medication."

The doctor leaves the cell and returns to the medical centre.  After preparing the injection he retuns.

"Benthalazine.  Its wonderful stuff.  Acts as a muscle relaxant, analgesic and sedative.  A jab in the arm should give you suick relief and probably make you sleep for a few hours."

He jabs Roy in the arm with the drug (assuming nothing else happens or someone tries to stop him).

He nods to Daniel.  "The fascinating thing about this drug is the oral form.  It dissolves in most liquids and is undetectable to taste or smell.  Unlike the injection it takes hours to work, building up slowly.  When it finally works though it leaves you paralysed and sedated for hours."

"Still.  You don't want to hear me yabbering on about pharmacology.  I'm sure you wont to get some sleep.  Who knows when you'll need your strength."

Roy could feel the drug entering his system.  He focused on fighting its sedating effects but it proved stronger than him.  His legs and arms felt like they had turned to jelly.  He could barely moan before he fell into a deep sleep.

With nothing left to do, Daniel took his bunk and fell into a light sleep.  He awoke later when he heard a distant rumbling noise which was probably thunder.  Still it was similar enough to an explosion to cause the soldier to sit up immediately, all semblence of sleep gone.  He looked over to Roy who was still fast asleep in his bunk.

About 5 minutes later the doors opened once again to admit the doctor.  Once again the two guards stood in the door, thought looked far less alert than last time.  Obviously it was hard to stay alert when you were on duty in the middle of the night.  Still their faces were determined and their pistols held in steady hands.

OOC:  Critical fail on your fort roll to resist the drug!  The dice must hate ya!

Re: Prison Cell 8

As Daniel brings his weapon to bear, Jek is already in motion, lunging at the guard on the right.  He slams into the guard and drives him to the ground.  The guard's blaster clatters away as the Trandoshan bashes his head on the corner of a bunk.  Jek falls on top of the guard, temporarily stunned.

Wether he had picked up on Jek's signal to shoot the left guard or not, Daniel nonetheless correctly shot at the other guard scoring a direct hit.  Unfortunately the hold-out pistol lacked the punch to kill the guard in one hit.  The guard retaliates and Daniel feels the blaster burn across the side of his face, missing him by milimetres.  The ex-imperial feels the flash burn and gasps at the closeness of the shot.

Not wasting time, Daniel shoots again this time hitting the guard in the throat.  The guard slumps to the ground dead.

Daniel takes a breath and turns to see Jek pick himself off the floor, retrieve the stunned guard's blaster and pump two stun blasts into him.

OOC:  One guard dead, one guard stunned.  One techie sleeping, a doctor who since he's a star rugby player and a soldier with a nasty razorburn!

You are now armed.  Each guard had a light blaster pistol and a stun baton.  You also have the hold-out pistol.  The guards also have swipe cards.  And the door is open!

Re: Prison Cell 8

While Daniel moves down the corridor quickly,t rying to get out of sight of the hallway camera as quick as he can, Jek returns to the medical centre and prepares an intravenous sedative and a stimpatch.

Returning to the cell he places the stimpatch on Roy's arm.  Then he turns the man's arm over and quickly finds a vein.  He quickly and competently injects the drug into a vein.  Within a minute the drug takes effect and Roy wakes up.

Daniel meanwhile stands outside the guard room which is the sole 'blind spot' in the two camera's range of vision.  Taking a breath he dashes in, grabs the blaster rifle and dashes out of the room again.  He hopes anyone watching the cameras does not spot the movement.  However the risk is worth the reward as he holds the extra weapon in his hands.

Daniel returns to the cell to find Jek supporting a groggy, but now awake Roy.

OOC:  Well the cameras are still operational (Daniel has been merely trying to minimise his time in the camera's LOS).  Roy is now awake.  He is groggy but the stimpatch is helping (will take some penalties to his rolls for a while).  YOur arsenal now consists of:

Stun Baton x 2
Blaster Pistol x 2
Blaster Rifle x 1
Hold-out Blaster x 1

You also have 2 security passes (1 from each guard) as well as Jek's pass.  The guard's passes will open guard-appropriate doors and Jek's will open doctor-appropriate doors.

There has been no activity from outside.  The rest of the slaves seem largely subdued and are not saying anything.

You are out and armed.  Too bad you are inside a slaver compound with lots of  trained and armed Trandoshans who wont be happy when they learn of your escape.  Hope you guys have a plan!

"Firstly your friend is out securing weapons for the escape.  Secondly if I was  tryly helping the slaves then why are their two unconscious guards lying at your every feet?  Thirdly I drugged you because after you little tirade before I needed to keep you quiet until the right time.  There was a time to move but not when you thought it was."

"Perhaps working for slavers makes me a 'bad guy'.  Me personally did what I could do.  I'm no soldier, I have no army.  Slavery is legal on this world so when I learned of these poor souls what did I do?  I came to work here so I might see that these people could at least get some food and basic medical care.  I lacked the facility to save but at least I could provide some more measure of comfort."

"Fortunately I recently made contact with a group of mercs.  They were planning to raid this base anyway.  So I helped them out with passcodes and they agreed to help me free the slaves.  They're assaulting the slavers even as we speak.  So learn to keep your mouth shut and you might even live to taste your freedom."

Daniel then turned his attention to Jek. "Are we ready to get out of here? I know they have my equipment here somewhere so if you know where it is we could stop and pick it up on the way out."

Re: Prison Cell 8

Jek stared at Roy flabbergasted for a few moments.  'Is he taunting me or is he really that stupid?'

Instead he turns his attention to Daniel.  "There is an assault happening on this base as we speak.  I was contacted by a mercenary group a few days ago who planned to attack the base.  I think they want to steal some equipment but I agreed to help them if they helped me rescue the slaves too.  They agreed but that doesn't mean they will keep their word."

"Your gear I managed to acquire from storage.  Its in my quarters in the medical centre next door.  Any credits you had will be gone sadly.  Any armour or weaponry you had will undoubtedly be in the armoury in the security centre.  I doubt we can reclaim.  Sorry, I did what I could."

Jek pulls out a commlink and flips it on.  "The mercs gave me this to keep in touch with.  They assure me its heavily encrypted.  I hope they're right."

He thumbs it on.  "This is wild card.  Have arrived at the party.  All of the partygoers are drunk.  I have two friends with me waiting to crash the party."

Jek shrugs.  "Some code their contact gave me."

"Since we have two pistols and one rifle we should split them up between us.  I'll keep the hold-up as a backup.  Daniel you look military.  Perhaps you should take the rifle and give your pistol to Roy there.  Assuming he knows which end to point at the enemy."

Daniel frowned at the news of the lost equipment. "Oh well you win some and you lose some and it's not worth risking our lives over."

Taking the blaster rifle in his hand getting a feel for the weapon. "Yeah this brings back some memories...." he mumbles to himself as he examines the familiar weapon of any stormtrooper.

"Well I guess our first our first order of business is contacting this mercenary group. Once we know where we are going we can move out. I'll keep watch to make sure we don't have any unexpected company." He said as he turned his attention back to the others.

He then turns his blaster on Roy.  "Or I pump a few stun bolts into you and leave you here.  You can then tell the slavers you weren't a part of this if we fail.  Either way, you can either start providing productive comments, shut the hell up or I give you another nap.  Am I clear?"

He takes a step back and bring his blaster up so there is no way Roy can miss it.

"Sorry Daniel if this guy is your friend but he clearly can't comprehend the magnitude of what is happening here.  Everything I do is to keep the slaves alive.  ALL of them."

Daniel, who had been paying very little attention to the argument of Roy and Jek, stood at the cell's entrance and watched for enemies. At the sound of blaster fire he whirls around with his weapon ready.

"Couldn't you two have just worked things out?" He said as he looked at the unconscience Roy. "We need as much help as we can get you know." Pausing for a momenthe turned back to the situation at hand. "Oh well what's done is done. We've got more important matters to attend to like getting out of here. What's the news?"

Daniel turns back around as he waits for an answer. "I guess I'm going to be the one carrying him out...." He mumbled to himself unenthusiastically.

"As for Roy. . .Look, I'll talk to him when he wakes up.  I had hoped he'd catch on to the situation faster but I guess I'm assumed to much.  You guys have been locked up for a while.  He does need to know when to keep his mouth shut though."

With Jek leading and Daniel trailing, the trio make their way through into the infirmary.  Daniel locks both the cell door and the door seperating the jail and the medical centre.

True to his word, Jek has most of the group's belongings in the room.  It seems they haven't deeply examined it all, only taking weapons, armour and credits.

As the group restock, a loud explosion is heard somewhere outside to the north.

OOC:  You know have access to all your gear barring your weapon, armour and credits.  That 'may' come later

The medical centre consists of a treatment area, a storeroom and a private office/sleeping area for Jek.  There are two exits.  The south door leads back into the jail.  The east door opens intot he main compound

He said as he pointed to the entrance to the medical facility. "We can turn over some of the equipment to provide us with some rudimentary cover and try and draw some of the slavers in here."

He paused for a second and continued. "The main problem though is that if they wise up to our plan they could easily force us out of our hole and into the open. By eliminating some of the slavers though, we might able to speed up your friends' arrival by tieing up some of the slavers who would otherwise be attacking them.

Looking around the room for anything that could be used to their advantage he motions for Jek. "Do you have any chemicals are or something in here that we could use as weapons? Anything explosive, flammable, or anything like that might be useful. The more confusion we can cause for the slavers the better off I think we will be."

Re: Prison Cell 8

Something is up - Darak could swear he was hearing weapons fire from the outside and there were no guards coming around.  He looked at the other prisioners and what there was at hand to try effecting an escape. Though the others in the cell with him looked like broken men, but as his training had told him many times that kind of compliant state meant he might be able to just give them orders - set them to work ... in a forceful tone, the tone of a man with a mission he says

"OK. You and you. This is it ... this is our chance for freedom. Lets break up these bunks, get table legs, metal bars, whatever we can break off. We have to start working at this door. Move people! GET A MOVE ON!"

While doing everything he can to get the others in his cell busy helping to effect escape he surveys what they have to work with. 'With a little luck these facilities might be poorly constructed', Darak thinks to himself 'as the occupants are borken and the cells are guarded. Maybe the combined muscle power of all here can somehow be applied'.

OOC: Mostly questions pertaining to making an escape.

Can I see the hallway?
Is it metal bars on the inside of the jail or is it a sealed door for each cell?
What means or method of escape seems possible at the moment?
Did I see the other 3 skulking about earlier?

Re: Prison Cell 8

Jek and Daniel watch impatiently as Roy works on the computer.  The security protocols seem fairly simplistic and it takes only a minute for him to access the AA gun protocols.  The gun is currently powered down with a security lockout.  Roy changes the protocols so only he can power it up again.  Satisfied he prepares to tackle his next task when several things happen.

Firstly the sound of blasterfire gets uncomfortable close as shots can be heard hitting a wall to the north.  It sounds like the medical centre is taking hits from an autofire weapon.

From the cells someone can be heard attempting to rally the prisoners.  There doesn't sound like there is much response from the slaves but at least one prisoner is clearly ready to fight.

The desire of one to fight is valuable as the sound of people shouting in Dosh is heard clearly to the North.  Roy punches up the security camera in the medical centre and sees two guards have taken refuge inside and are setting up tables and cabinets as defensive measures to protect them from the eastern door.

Re: Prison Cell 8

Darak cursed how lax he had become. It was difficult to keep track of time and regulate sleep. He must have missed something becuase now he can hear people talking in common - and they are in the guard room. Maybe he had slept through the escape of some other prisoners? A nice thought if it turned out to be true. In common he calls out loud enough to be heard in the guard room but not loud enough to be heard outside the building:

Hey! Let me out of this cell here! I can help, I am a Junior Officer of the Bothan Exchange Conglomerate. Darak Aeleth, Crew Grade 9A, Service Number 23-72-11. Hello in the guard room! ...

'I hope these people aren't some other slaver gang who are just gonna kill me for my efforts ... oh by the Light let this be a path to freedom' he thinks to himself.

"Sithspit!" Jek cursed as he watched the monitor.  It looked like the battle was getting closer than he wanted it to be.  At least there was only two of them.

When he heard one of the prisoners begin shouting out he was surprised and annoyed simultaneously.  It was good to know that one of the prisoners had found some spirit but his timing couldn't be worse.

"That prisoner is gonna have the guards coming down on us if we're not careful.  If we can hear him so can they.  Lets just hope the mercs have them too busy to check."

Re: Prison Cell 8

Darak took another look at the cell and the door. Though he had done this many times before during his captivity, he still had the slim hope that he had missed something. The sad fact was that these cells gave prisoners nothing to work with.

For all his training he had nothing beyond a plea for assitance to people who might or might not be allies. Again, with his voice directed at the guard room but not loud enough to be heard outside the building, he says "Whoever you are I can help ... or I can contact the company offices and get you a reward for rescue."

...

Hearing the audible 'click' of the locks being sprung Darak immediately quiets down. 'They are in the guard room and likely it is they who set me free' he thinks 'or this is a different brand of slaver just toying with me. In any event they are the greatest chance for my survival.'.

Waiting a moment to watch for any guards that bad luck might send his way Darak quickly dashes to the guard room. The other men are probably better off in their cell at the moment, but he will get to the guard room door and (just loud enough) say "I am coming in. Thankyou for opeining the cell ... please don't shoot"

With that Darak will slowly try opening the door and will come in with both hands presented - showing he is unarmed. He is partially crouched though, in case he has to dive for cover on the other side of the door.

Speaking in slightly hushed tones Darak says "Right - so I'll give the room a once over and see if there isn't anything we can use".

Darak proceed to search the room for any weapons or other interesting items that might be stashed away. He will avoid making noise. If possible, he will quietly arrange the furniture so that he and the others have some cover in case guards come bursting in. This arranging of furniture will occur as he searches (i.e. things like flipping a desk onto its side, or something similar if the contents of the room allow for such).

Darak takes up a defensive position near the door. If those Trandoshans are going to storm the room then he will be in a postion to use his stun baton should they storm in. He will avoid taking a position where they could fire on him from the hall if they were to kick in the door and then try to clear the room with blaster fire (i.e. he would be using the wall next to the door for cover against fire from the hall-way).

In hushed tones he says "So are we waiting it out in here? Your the ones who know the merc plans not me ... but I for one think we should try to give them support in some form. Do we know the situation outside? ... What is the merc plan - what intel do we have exactly?"

Re: Prison Cell 8

Darak nods to Daniel. Even though he looks young it is clear Darak has had some paramilitary and leadership training.

OK. So assualting them has one tactical obstacle I can see - we all can't pile through the door at once. It is a choke point.

Now, we could turn that choke point into our advatage. If we were to swing open 2 cell doors in the hallway, three of you could take cover behind them. We keep the slaves in the other cells for their safety - even though they will be crammed - their discomfort is worth some fighting cover for us. On that note, we should get the slaves to huddle on the floor anyway - as some of that weapons fire might punch through from outside and hurt them.

Then, given I have a stun baton or a hold out blaster - but the least firepower anyway - I will go and open the door really quickly and stay behind the wall on our side for complete cover.

You three then concentrate fire on the most visible target. Given they are setting up against an enemy coming from the other direction you all shoudl be able to down a guard in the first volley.

This way we use the door as a choke point in our favor, and the swung open cell doors give you all some cover for the firefight. Now they will react, and if we are lucky get hit by some of blaster fire we saw on that monitor - becuase they will have to give up position.

If anyone has anything roughly cylindircal and palm sized I can also throw it through the door. It will look like an incoming grenade for about 4 seconds ... that is the approximate time their brains will need to process the info that it isn't. They may even be fooled if they don't see where it lands becuase I will shout 'grenade'. Now that will happen after you all get your first shot off. Just a little trick I saw used against pirates - gets you another shot becuase of confusion.

I suppose I could pry the cabinet-handles off the cupboard. Then wrap them tight in a strip of cloth. It will look like some sort of improvised explosive device. A container of some sort might be better still to look like a grenade, but the door handles will give it a good clatter as it hits floor and I yell 'grenade'.

When they do come through the door, we should rig a good old fashioned trip-wire with some of this camera hardwiring (He points out the hardwires that link the camera systems). They will likely be too busy to see it and fall. I will also be behind the door jam giving you guys a falnking attacker when they come through.

Now, if they choose not to come through the door, there are two side of the door. There are two possible lines of sight through the door jam - the people on the left of the door will have an angle of fire into the right half of the room. The people on the right into the left. Two of us for a side, and one kneeling to make room for the other. That firing position divides our fire into two targets on a 60 to 90 degree separation, but also gives us a little cover behind the door jam - and we keep the choke point in our favor.

How does that sound? I am likely not the only one with some training in the regard, so lets hear constructive input from everyone before we attack. Even if you agree, we all to need hear verbal confirmation of understanding from every individual before it becomes a team action.

OOC: Are the door swing style? If the doors are sliding doors then Darak would not be talking about swinging doors - and the reader of the post should mentally edit as appropraite.

He sighs.  "However I agree we need to look after ourselves.  The mercs may not keep their word or may even lose the fight.  We need to use the time we have."

He hold out his blaster pistol to Darak.  "I'm a doctor not a soldier.  You sound like you have a greater grasp of tactics than I.  You can probably put this to better use."

Once Darak takes the pistol, Jek pulls out his hold-out blaster and checks the charge before turning to the security camera.  He watches closely, trying to see if he recognises any of the guards.  He tries to note their armaments and any signs of injury.

Re: Prison Cell 8

Darak nods and takes the blaster pistol.

"Alright. Good. Well if you are light on combat experience and only have a hold out you should open the door. You might use a stun baton for mechanical leverage so you don't have to lean out across the door jam. It will expose you to the least amount of fire from the room - no fire at all if they don't have heavy weapons to pierce the wall - but you will still be valuable with a stun baton or for back shots as they pass you or trip ...

That is if we can rig up the trip wire. Roy, can you find us a few good lengths of that wire and tie it off?"

"If they do the smart thing and don't come through the door to attack us then we can use that grenade-trick time to get in. I will be throwing it and putting on an act during those few second - and it will only be a few seconds they are fooled by a blurred object in fast motion. Daniel, you see to be military. Can you handle point into the room? I can follow right behind you and then both Jek and Roy will have the door for a firing position to help us out ... that is an last option if we absolutely have to storm the place.

But I would prefer to stick to the double firing position for all 4 of us taking shots through the door at crossing angles..."

"Jek - do you have a spare container or small thing in your medical kit that I could use as a grenade prop instead of the cabinet-fixtures?"

OOC: Again please edit in your minds if these are in fact not swing-style doors.

If there are no swing style doors we might still be able to use the open cell door jams as two cover points. WIth no internal layout in front of me to see the angles it is all kind of guess work - so I do my best as a player :)

Darak hands his stun baton over. "I'll be fine with a blaster, and I'll clear two appropraite cells of slaves - get them to safety in other cells."

Darak will ask Roy to unlock the apporpriate cell doors then he quietly goes out into the hall, and arranges the slaves. He will basically drag them around by the hand into the safer cells and then seal them in for their own good. He will guesture with his finger to his lips and whisper 'shhh quiet' and make them cower on the ground.

OOC: Yes, it is a bit of a time-waster handling the slaves but they could really get hurt out in the open of a fire fight and Darak is just one of those caring types.

Info from the med centre camera

There are four Trandoshans:

The tallest Jek recognises as leader of the guards.  He knows he has combat experience and is capable.  He is wearing a combat jumpsuit that looks well used.  Slung over it is a belt with twin heavy pistols at the hips and a bandoleer with various blades and grenades on it.  A wicked looking knife with a metre-long blade hangs on his back

The other three guards are all equipped with blaster rifles, blaster pistols and stun batons.  Two have vibroblades and one has several grenades.

Three of them are setting up defenses in the room whilst the leader issues orders.  He continues to point this way and that (camera does not have audio).

After a minute or so he seems to notice the camera for the first time.  He quick draws with impressive speed and fires off a shot.

The camera goes black.

Re: Prison Cell 8

Darak quickly moves the slaves to other cells through a mixture of diplomacy, threats, cajoling and brute force.  It takes him a minute or so but finally he has his two empty cells.

At around the same time Roy finally finishes his 'grenade'.  By securing several of the power sources together he'd prepared a crude device that he hoped would work.

Roy took cover behind the left door while Darak mimiced him to the right.  Jek and Daniel took positions to the left and right respectively closer to the cell and prepared to fire through the top half of the doors.

Just as the group gets ready a loud explosion erupts just outside the medical centre door.  To Daniel's trained ear it sounds like a grenade exploded in close proximity to the door, though probably not close enough to do damage.

Moments after the door to the medical centre opens and a lone Trandoshan rushes out.  Seeing the open doors he pauses and brings his rifle up to fire. . .

OOC:  Feel free to adjust your positions but the following seemed apparent to me.  As the doors have bars to the upper half and solid to the lower the only way for 4 people to take cover behind 2 doors is for 2 people to kneel and shoot around the doors.  Roy has to be one of these people as he can't throw the grenade through the bars and acheive distance.

The people shooting through the bars will have less cover than those shooting around the edge of the door.

I have Daniel armed with a blaster rifle, Roy with blaster pistol and grenade, Darak with blaster pistol and Jek with a hold-out pistol.

If this is all correct then let battle commence!

He steadies himself and trains his gun on one of the obvious leader of the trandoshans. Just as the new slaver rushes into the medical bay Daniel motions Roy to toss the explosive. "Alright Roy before the rest of them notice us. Now is the best chance we are going to get at taking them by suprise."

Hoping to get a quick shot in before the grenade is thrown he tries for a hit on the trandoshan leader or which everyone he can get a clear shot off of. With his blaster rifle steady he fires a shot and then ducks behind the cover of the cell as the grenade goes out.

A yell of "Grenade" causes everyone to freeze a moment, not the least the Trandoshan standing in the doorway.  Roy tosses the makeshift grenade which lands just inside the doorway of the med centre with a thud.  Guards inside the room dive to the sides as the grenade hits the floor.

In the doorway the exposed trandoshan reflexively snaps off a shot at Darak, who was taking aim on the guard.  The shot struck the door only millimetres from the man's head, the heat wave singing his eybrows.

The return fire was more on track.  A pair of shots hit the guard in the chest and he fell to the ground nonmoving.

Inside the medcentre shouting in Dosh commenced.  Unable to speak the language you didn't know what was being said but the gist was clear.  The leader was rousing his men to battle.  Roy's grenade was clearly a dud.

A volley of fire erupted into the hallway as the Trandoshans returned fire.  The sheer force of the volley caused the group to duck behind cover.  Through the fire a metallic clunk was heard as something hit the ground just next to the dead Trandoshan.

"Grenade!" yelled a voice in broken Common followed by a loud chuckle.

OOC:  Well battle has commenced.  Your grenade didn't work.  COnsidering Roy has no skill points in demolitions you're actually all lucky the thing didn't blow up in your faces!

You suspect the grenade thrown by the Trandoshans will not be a dud!

Darak hearing the grenade fall next to the dead trandoshan in the hall will duck for cover behind the wall, taking a shot at a target if he can - but cover is first priority.

Ducking behind the wall he looks over at Roy. "Well I suppose it was worth a shot. I hope you are better with your blaster though." He says cracking a smile.

Daniel waits for the grenade to go off and gets ready to return fire. After the grenade has gone off he will immediately start returning fire from his cover.

The grenades lies motionless for a few moments.  Seconds seem to take hours as everyone ducks behind cover awaiting the impending explosion.  Finally a new sound breaks the silence but it is not the sound of an explosion, rather the sound of hissing gas.

Peeking around fom cover the grenade is spewing out a metallic-grey gas quite rapidly.

"Stun gas."  Jek offers, having seen the guards use them before.  One of those can completely envelop a cell in the gas.  Strong stuff."</b>

As the two start to break a run Daniel yells out in an attempt to get some control over the situation. "Wait! get at the back of the cell. Running through the gas isn't going to do us any good, it's too concentrated, we've got get as far away from the spray as possible and cover our mouths."

Hoping that everyone hears him and knowing that if they don't two guns are better than one he tries to make a grab at Darak to stop him and pull him to the back.  Covering his mouth with the sleeve of his shirt so as not to breath the initial fumes he hopes that he can atleast hold out long enough to get to the back where the fumes might be able to dilute

Re: Prison Cell 8

Darak heeds Daniel's warning of staying in cover before making his break - not leaving cover. Daniel does not have to venture into the fumes.

Instead he will try to shield his mouth and take another breath in a high or low corner of the cell - or from under a bunk ... any area where pockets of dead air tend to form, the gas hasn't spread, etc. Since he can see the greyish gas perhaps he can cruedly judge conentrations and determine where to breath. If need be he will even take a breath from the waste hole ... nasty yes ... but a resovoir of 'clean' (not exactly fresh) air that won't stun him.

Since they are getting to the backs of the cell to keep distance from the gas Daniel will try to sit on the waste hole ... preserving the air down there. This position also allows him to keep a barel trained on the doorway.

OOC:  I am going to base what Roy and Darak do on an initiative roll.  Since Daniel yelled Wait I'm assuming people would take notice.  However if anyone beats Daniel to initiative they will have already made their move (ie run for the guard room).  Jek (who has yet to post) still has the luxury of choice.

Additionally Daniel will spend a round in the fumes because his speech will take a full round (takes me 6 seconds to give that speech, even when hurried!).  In his post he states he says all this BEFORE he ducks abck into the room.

Re: Prison Cell 8

As Daniel yells "Wait!" all three of his comrades grind to a halt.  Hearing his explanation they instead try to shield their mouths and run for the back of the cells.

Having been furthest back, Jek easily manages to outpace the gas.  Danak and Roy are slower off the mark and take a lungful of the gas before they escape to the rear of their cells.

Daniel meanwhile is caught full in the gas cloud and becomes helplessly coughing and retching.  He falls to his knees as the gas begins to overpower him.

From the medical centre a command in Dosh is made and the sound of advancing Trandoshans in heard.

OOC:  The hall and the entry to the cells is filled with the stun gas.  Roy and Jek are in the back of the cell to the left, Darak the back of the right cell.  Daniel is just inside the door of the right cell and is standing in the gas cloud.

Re: Prison Cell 8

Jek stayed low and against the wall of his cell.  He rifled through his medpac for some stim patches.  Already the gas was affecting him, and likely the others.

He kept his hold-out blaster on the ground in front of him for easy access.  It wouldn't be much use in a firefight but it was better than being caught unarmed.

Jek will place a stim patch on himself and then one on Roy (if he wishes it) and then take up his hold-out blaster again.  If at any time the others open fire he will stop what he's doing and start shooting.

Re: Prison Cell 8

As Roy aims his blaster towards the door, Jek slaps stim patches on the two of them.  The effects don't hit immediately but Jek assures ROy it wont take long.  Meanwhile Darak grabs Daniel and pulls him towards the back of the cell.  The pair cough and splutter as they retreat.  Whilst Daniel continues to splutter, Darak drops to one knee and aims his pistol at the door.  Seeing Roy in the opposite cell in a similar position he reminds himself to aim carefully lest he hit a team mate.

The shots never come though.  The Trandoshans don't run in front of the doorway.  Instead with a grunt the push the cell doors hard causing them to slam shut.  Muffled laughs are heard from the passageway.  It sounds like the guards are wearing some sort of air filter.  A voice is heard shouting, probably from the medical centre.  The basic is broken but understandable.

"You all dumb.  Now you locked up again.  Drop weapons in hall or we kill all of you and take weapons."

Something is shouted in Dosh and someone can be heard moving past the doors.  As nobody is visible they are clearly ducking down so you can't take potshots at them.

OOC:  Oopsies.  You're all back where you started.  Granted your armed but you're all locked in the cells you were taking cover with.  Though now the door is shut the gas should dissapate in around 15 seconds or so.

Re: Prison Cell 8

The Trandoshan leader laughed and muttered two simple words in Basic.  "Kill them."

The group prepared their weapons and took aim as the two guards aimed their rifles and fired, one into each cell.

Blaster fire erupted in a dazzling display of light.  Roy's shot went uselessly wide while Jek and Daniel both hit the door close to the bars.  Darak's shot flew through the bars and caught one of the guards in the shoulder.

The return fire was of more concern.  With no room to move there was no chance to dodge or take cover.  Yet somehow Roy managed to step aside in time to narrowly avoid taking a bolt in the chest.  Darak also had a narrow miss, a blaster bolt burning through the fabric of his right shoulder, missing by mere millimetres.

The blaster fire continued.  The advantage of cover worked in the Trandoshan's favour as most of the heroes' bolts continues to hit the doors or the bars.  The few that went between missed their intended targets.

However amidst the returning of hot light, Jek took a blaster bolt in the chest and fell to the ground with a gasp.  The doctor's hold-out blaster clattered uselessly to the floor.

Still coughing from his run in the with gass Daniel rises above the effects and takes a shot with his rifle aiming through the bars and hoping to make contact. Knowing that remaining out in the open is not going to be the best way to keep himself alive. He makes a run for the other end of cell taking cover beside  Darak. They had to work with what they had and in this cell the door was the only thing preventing those guards from having perfectly clear shots.

Re: Prison Cell 8

Almost as if there minds are working in unison, all three prisoners decide that taking cover to the sides of the door is the way to go.  Rushing forward, the three hope to make cover safely.  They fire on the run, their shots hitting the door, hoping to buy them the time they need.

The guards seem to have other plans. . .

Roy takes a rifle blast to the chest that hurls him over backwards and leaves him lying on the floor, smoke rising from his chest.  Daniel, likewise takes a blaster bolt in the chest that sends his flying to the side and crashing into the side wall where he lies unmoving.

Only Darak makes it safely to the cover of the front wall.  As his eyes took in the fact that Daniel had been hit, he also realised that there was still blasterfire occuring.  It sounded like it was coming from further down the hall.

OOC:  Courtesy of a critical hit to Darak and a regular hit to Roy, the intrepid escapees are down from 4 to 1.  Without prompt medical attention Roy, Jek AND Daniel will all die.

Ignoring the distant blasterfire Darak set himself more important tasks.  Creeping as close to Daniel as he could without exposing himself, he dragged the soldier to him.  He then set himself to the task of stemming the flow of blood.  Fortunately he had done this sort of thing numerous times before and had his medkit with him.  Soon Daniel was stabilised. . .at least for the moment.

Commands were shouted from further down the hall and Darak could hear one of the guards run off to join the leader.  One of the guards could be heard chuckling outside the cell.  He also heard the unmistakable sound of one of a swipecard being used.  There were multiple swipe attempts and curses in Dosh as the door failed to open.

Darak steadied himself before swinging himself up and bring his blaster to the opening between the bars.  He quickly spotted the Trandoshan to the side, distracted with trying to make his swipe card work.  He did not know, could not know Roy had changed the passcodes.

The Trandoshan spotted Darak as the human brought his blaster to bear.  Dropping his card in surprise he swung his blaster round in desperation.

To Darak, he seemed to almost move in slow motion.  He had no trouble firing two shots in rapid succession that drilled into the guards chest and neck, killing him instantly.

Further down the corridor, Darak could just make out the other two Trandoshans.  They were busy shooting down the corridor that led to the outside and seemed not to have noticed their comrade's fall.

If possible (if he can get the door open) he will leave Daniel under cover - out of sight - behind a partially open door (slowly, quietly opening it just enough to get out). Then he will slowly, and carefully make it over to the other cell and inside to check on Jek and Roy.

Re: Prison Cell 8

Darak's ministrations soon have Daniel on the mend.  Whilst his wounds were still grevious and would likely require bacta therapy he was at least now functional.  Darak had still heard nothing from the other cell so it was hard to be fully positive.

Indeed, the sounds outside the cell sounded little better.  From what he could hear there were at least two people in the medical centre when the Trandoshan's charged.  There were the sounds of both blaster fire and autofire from there, suggesting at least one heavy weapon.

As the Trandoshan leader reached the medical centre door there was a loud gasp and the dropping of a weapon.  The Trandoshan was still shouting and cursing so it was likely one of the mercs who had just been shot.  It sounded like the help was having as much trouble as his own group was.

The second trandoshan was a little further back.  He was a little past the cell doors, heading towards the medical centre.  His flank was clearly exposed to Darak and Daniel.  However if a shot was fired it might be heard.  The autofire from the medical centre was loud but it certainly didn't guarantee anything.

OOC:  Welcome back Daniel!  You're sweriously wounded but active.  The situation is that the Trandoshan leader is now in the doorway of the medical centre.  He has clearly just downed one of the mercs.

The second trandoshan is a little past the cell doors, heading for the medical centre.  A shot at him from the cells would be a rear/flank shot at point blank range.  However not killing him could really ruin your day.  Also it is possible the leader might hear the shots (though he does have other things to worry about at the moment).

Jek, Roy.  Hope you're still with us in spirit.

With a combination of near-standard (Bothan military) hand signals and finger painting with a little spare medical paste of some variety Darak breifly 'explains' the situation outside.

He outlines one 'Big' enemy and one 'small' enemy with our 'allies' not doing so well. He notes that the 'door is jammed' he is exhasuted but if Daniel wants to provide 'flanking fire' Darak is 'thumbs up and smiles' when it comes to helping. He finishes by pointing to Daniel's patched up wounds and then makes a 'shoot at the enemy' motion with his blaster pistol with a 'yes or no go' query to Daniel.

Darak begins to outline the situation, but faster than he can explain, the situation changes.  The whine of autofire is heard and the unmistakable sounds of energy bolts striking flesh is heard.  A gasp is heard and the clattering of bodies to the ground, followed by silence.

A few moments later the sound of somebody running down the corridor from the south end is heard.  Someone shouts in common "Two report."

It is hard to make out but the shouter is clearly not happy about something.  Phrases like 'let eight get shot up' and 'lock us in'

When Darak and Daniel finally move to the cell window they see a Duros with a heavy repeater in his arms standing in the doorway of the midcal facility.  In the room a human (the guy giving the orders) is knelt over a human with a nasty blaster shot to the chest.  The victim is unconscious but Darak spies the rise and fall of his chest.  The human leader is treating his wounds with a medpac.

The two Trandoshans can be seen lying on the ground.  The Trandoshan leader's chest looks like he went a few rounds with a blender.  The other has a blaster shot that took him in the eye.
