Re: Prison Cell 8

Jek and Daniel watch impatiently as Roy works on the computer.  The security protocols seem fairly simplistic and it takes only a minute for him to access the AA gun protocols.  The gun is currently powered down with a security lockout.  Roy changes the protocols so only he can power it up again.  Satisfied he prepares to tackle his next task when several things happen.

Firstly the sound of blasterfire gets uncomfortable close as shots can be heard hitting a wall to the north.  It sounds like the medical centre is taking hits from an autofire weapon.

From the cells someone can be heard attempting to rally the prisoners.  There doesn't sound like there is much response from the slaves but at least one prisoner is clearly ready to fight.

The desire of one to fight is valuable as the sound of people shouting in Dosh is heard clearly to the North.  Roy punches up the security camera in the medical centre and sees two guards have taken refuge inside and are setting up tables and cabinets as defensive measures to protect them from the eastern door.

Re: Prison Cell 8

Darak cursed how lax he had become. It was difficult to keep track of time and regulate sleep. He must have missed something becuase now he can hear people talking in common - and they are in the guard room. Maybe he had slept through the escape of some other prisoners? A nice thought if it turned out to be true. In common he calls out loud enough to be heard in the guard room but not loud enough to be heard outside the building:

Hey! Let me out of this cell here! I can help, I am a Junior Officer of the Bothan Exchange Conglomerate. Darak Aeleth, Crew Grade 9A, Service Number 23-72-11. Hello in the guard room! ...

'I hope these people aren't some other slaver gang who are just gonna kill me for my efforts ... oh by the Light let this be a path to freedom' he thinks to himself.

"Sithspit!" Jek cursed as he watched the monitor.  It looked like the battle was getting closer than he wanted it to be.  At least there was only two of them.

When he heard one of the prisoners begin shouting out he was surprised and annoyed simultaneously.  It was good to know that one of the prisoners had found some spirit but his timing couldn't be worse.

"That prisoner is gonna have the guards coming down on us if we're not careful.  If we can hear him so can they.  Lets just hope the mercs have them too busy to check."

Roy unlocks the door from where the prisoner is.Some go get him his door is unlocked. Roy punches up the video feed on the med bay. If we hit them from the south we can get them by surprise.  Then take a peek out side to see what is going on.Roy unlock all the doors to the Med room.

Re: Prison Cell 8

Darak took another look at the cell and the door. Though he had done this many times before during his captivity, he still had the slim hope that he had missed something. The sad fact was that these cells gave prisoners nothing to work with.

For all his training he had nothing beyond a plea for assitance to people who might or might not be allies. Again, with his voice directed at the guard room but not loud enough to be heard outside the building, he says "Whoever you are I can help ... or I can contact the company offices and get you a reward for rescue."

...

Hearing the audible 'click' of the locks being sprung Darak immediately quiets down. 'They are in the guard room and likely it is they who set me free' he thinks 'or this is a different brand of slaver just toying with me. In any event they are the greatest chance for my survival.'.

Waiting a moment to watch for any guards that bad luck might send his way Darak quickly dashes to the guard room. The other men are probably better off in their cell at the moment, but he will get to the guard room door and (just loud enough) say "I am coming in. Thankyou for opeining the cell ... please don't shoot"

With that Darak will slowly try opening the door and will come in with both hands presented - showing he is unarmed. He is partially crouched though, in case he has to dive for cover on the other side of the door.

"Hurry up and get in here." Daniel said gruffly from his position at the door. "Roy over there unlocked your cell for a reason and it wasn't so we could shoot you."

He nodded as the newcomer entered. "We thought we were the only ones left in this whole that had any will to fight. It's good to see someone else who hasn't been broken by the slavers."

Darak enters, surveys the room, and looks at the three "Had to play it safe back there ... These slaver types have been known to pull some sick and twisted jokes and I couldn't be sure. Glad to know we're on the same side."

"OK. Whats the situation? Whats the plan? I am alright with a blast pistol and I am a Medical Officer."

Never taking his attention fully away from keeping watch Daniel responds with a short run down of the situation. "We are meeting with a group of mercenaries are currently raiding the compound. They have promised to help free the other slaves but we have no guarantees. We are running low on weapons right now so I'm afraid we can't help you out much there. This is a guard room though so they might have something laying around here."

Re: Prison Cell 8

Speaking in slightly hushed tones Darak says "Right - so I'll give the room a once over and see if there isn't anything we can use".

Darak proceed to search the room for any weapons or other interesting items that might be stashed away. He will avoid making noise. If possible, he will quietly arrange the furniture so that he and the others have some cover in case guards come bursting in. This arranging of furniture will occur as he searches (i.e. things like flipping a desk onto its side, or something similar if the contents of the room allow for such).

Jek watched the newcomer with a degree of suspicion.  He's examined the records carefully to check who might help with the escape.  How had this Darak slipped past his search?

"I doubt you'll find anything.  Both Daniel and I have searched the room for weapons.  Daniel did so twice so unless he's totally blind we have what we have.  There are plenty of stun batons if you care for one."

He continued to strain his mind to work out why he really didn't remember this guy.  Every slave got physicals fairly regularly.  How had this one been missed?

"Hmmmm ... oh well, if nothing turns up then nothing turns up. A stun baton is better than nothing - though I'll have no choice but to take cover in a blaster fight."

Darak takes a stun baton, but continues his search and makes cover (if possible).

As the trio watch, two more duck inside the med bay.  One of the new arrivals begin barking orders and setting up his three comrades to repel the intruders.  They keep low as blaster bolts from outside strike the walls and fly straight through striking walls, equipment and anything else that gets in their way.

Re: Prison Cell 8

Darak takes up a defensive position near the door. If those Trandoshans are going to storm the room then he will be in a postion to use his stun baton should they storm in. He will avoid taking a position where they could fire on him from the hall if they were to kick in the door and then try to clear the room with blaster fire (i.e. he would be using the wall next to the door for cover against fire from the hall-way).

In hushed tones he says "So are we waiting it out in here? Your the ones who know the merc plans not me ... but I for one think we should try to give them support in some form. Do we know the situation outside? ... What is the merc plan - what intel do we have exactly?"

Daniel nodded at Darak's comment. "We need to do what we can to help out and sitting here watching everything from a view screen isn't doing us much good."

Motioning towards the medical lab Daniel readies his blaster rifle. "Those guards are pinned down by blaster fire. We can attack them while they are being distracted by the mercenaries."

Re: Prison Cell 8

Darak nods to Daniel. Even though he looks young it is clear Darak has had some paramilitary and leadership training.

OK. So assualting them has one tactical obstacle I can see - we all can't pile through the door at once. It is a choke point.

Now, we could turn that choke point into our advatage. If we were to swing open 2 cell doors in the hallway, three of you could take cover behind them. We keep the slaves in the other cells for their safety - even though they will be crammed - their discomfort is worth some fighting cover for us. On that note, we should get the slaves to huddle on the floor anyway - as some of that weapons fire might punch through from outside and hurt them.

Then, given I have a stun baton or a hold out blaster - but the least firepower anyway - I will go and open the door really quickly and stay behind the wall on our side for complete cover.

You three then concentrate fire on the most visible target. Given they are setting up against an enemy coming from the other direction you all shoudl be able to down a guard in the first volley.

This way we use the door as a choke point in our favor, and the swung open cell doors give you all some cover for the firefight. Now they will react, and if we are lucky get hit by some of blaster fire we saw on that monitor - becuase they will have to give up position.

If anyone has anything roughly cylindircal and palm sized I can also throw it through the door. It will look like an incoming grenade for about 4 seconds ... that is the approximate time their brains will need to process the info that it isn't. They may even be fooled if they don't see where it lands becuase I will shout 'grenade'. Now that will happen after you all get your first shot off. Just a little trick I saw used against pirates - gets you another shot becuase of confusion.

I suppose I could pry the cabinet-handles off the cupboard. Then wrap them tight in a strip of cloth. It will look like some sort of improvised explosive device. A container of some sort might be better still to look like a grenade, but the door handles will give it a good clatter as it hits floor and I yell 'grenade'.

When they do come through the door, we should rig a good old fashioned trip-wire with some of this camera hardwiring (He points out the hardwires that link the camera systems). They will likely be too busy to see it and fall. I will also be behind the door jam giving you guys a falnking attacker when they come through.

Now, if they choose not to come through the door, there are two side of the door. There are two possible lines of sight through the door jam - the people on the left of the door will have an angle of fire into the right half of the room. The people on the right into the left. Two of us for a side, and one kneeling to make room for the other. That firing position divides our fire into two targets on a 60 to 90 degree separation, but also gives us a little cover behind the door jam - and we keep the choke point in our favor.

How does that sound? I am likely not the only one with some training in the regard, so lets hear constructive input from everyone before we attack. Even if you agree, we all to need hear verbal confirmation of understanding from every individual before it becomes a team action.

OOC: Are the door swing style? If the doors are sliding doors then Darak would not be talking about swinging doors - and the reader of the post should mentally edit as appropraite.

Re: Prison Cell 8

Jek listens to Darak's plan earnestly.  "I'm not sure I like the idea of going up against these guys.  They're not all fantastic combatants but some of them have been in the business a long time and know how to fight.  We could be taking on more than we can handle."

He sighs.  "However I agree we need to look after ourselves.  The mercs may not keep their word or may even lose the fight.  We need to use the time we have."

He hold out his blaster pistol to Darak.  "I'm a doctor not a soldier.  You sound like you have a greater grasp of tactics than I.  You can probably put this to better use."

Once Darak takes the pistol, Jek pulls out his hold-out blaster and checks the charge before turning to the security camera.  He watches closely, trying to see if he recognises any of the guards.  He tries to note their armaments and any signs of injury.

Re: Prison Cell 8

Darak nods and takes the blaster pistol.

"Alright. Good. Well if you are light on combat experience and only have a hold out you should open the door. You might use a stun baton for mechanical leverage so you don't have to lean out across the door jam. It will expose you to the least amount of fire from the room - no fire at all if they don't have heavy weapons to pierce the wall - but you will still be valuable with a stun baton or for back shots as they pass you or trip ...

That is if we can rig up the trip wire. Roy, can you find us a few good lengths of that wire and tie it off?"

"If they do the smart thing and don't come through the door to attack us then we can use that grenade-trick time to get in. I will be throwing it and putting on an act during those few second - and it will only be a few seconds they are fooled by a blurred object in fast motion. Daniel, you see to be military. Can you handle point into the room? I can follow right behind you and then both Jek and Roy will have the door for a firing position to help us out ... that is an last option if we absolutely have to storm the place.

But I would prefer to stick to the double firing position for all 4 of us taking shots through the door at crossing angles..."

"Jek - do you have a spare container or small thing in your medical kit that I could use as a grenade prop instead of the cabinet-fixtures?"

OOC: Again please edit in your minds if these are in fact not swing-style doors.

If there are no swing style doors we might still be able to use the open cell door jams as two cover points. WIth no internal layout in front of me to see the angles it is all kind of guess work - so I do my best as a player :)

If you grive me a few minutes with a club and the extra cells from the others I might be able to make a real bomb we could toss in there.  That is all depending on how much charge the rest of the battery cells have. I never had to blow my way into a ship but making a low grad bomb shouldn't be that hard.

"If you can pull off a real bomb with the stun power cells that would be fantastick. I guess there is alot of potential enegry in a standard power cell isn't there ... How about the rest of us get into position while you work on things Roy. Lets get into firing positions In case they decide to retreat into the hall in the mean time."

Darak hands his stun baton over. "I'll be fine with a blaster, and I'll clear two appropraite cells of slaves - get them to safety in other cells."

Darak will ask Roy to unlock the apporpriate cell doors then he quietly goes out into the hall, and arranges the slaves. He will basically drag them around by the hand into the safer cells and then seal them in for their own good. He will guesture with his finger to his lips and whisper 'shhh quiet' and make them cower on the ground.

OOC: Yes, it is a bit of a time-waster handling the slaves but they could really get hurt out in the open of a fire fight and Darak is just one of those caring types.

Re: Prison Cell 8

Info from the med centre camera

There are four Trandoshans:

The tallest Jek recognises as leader of the guards.  He knows he has combat experience and is capable.  He is wearing a combat jumpsuit that looks well used.  Slung over it is a belt with twin heavy pistols at the hips and a bandoleer with various blades and grenades on it.  A wicked looking knife with a metre-long blade hangs on his back

The other three guards are all equipped with blaster rifles, blaster pistols and stun batons.  Two have vibroblades and one has several grenades.

Three of them are setting up defenses in the room whilst the leader issues orders.  He continues to point this way and that (camera does not have audio).

After a minute or so he seems to notice the camera for the first time.  He quick draws with impressive speed and fires off a shot.

The camera goes black.
