Down in the cargo hold with the slaves, Jek did his best to provide comfort to the slaves while he handed out ration packs he'd found on base and offered any medical care he could.

"One this is Doc.  We're all ready but lets keep it smooth.  We've got a lot of people without crash harnesses down here."

Re: Act 4: The Escape

Jamie was back in his cockpit and ready to go when he got a horrible feeling in his stomach.
"No!  Two, this is Five; hold short in the hangar.  Four, come with me."
Jamie threw the canopy open again, grabbed his rifle, and exited the fighter.  Rifle held at the ready, he signaled for Xil to join him and moved towards the hangar personnel door.
C'mon, what's wrong with this...

Re: Act 4: The Escape

Exilim stopped what he was doing when he heard the call come over the comm.
" What...." he says involuntarily to himself. Taking a second to interpret the order he replies, "Understood Five"
Doing as asked, he gets out of the cloakshape, taking his rifle with him. Making sure that it it ready to fire, he approaches Jamie's position. He wonders to himself what has changed....and why was there an urgency to the order.

Re: Act 4: The Escape

Xil and Jamie move to the door.  Looking around the perimeter they can see nobody lurking in the open or on the rooftops.  It was possible someone slaver was still floating around inside but even so it was hard to imagine why one could be a threat.  Small arms fire would bounce off the hull of the transport.  It would take someone with a missile launcher or even an e-web blaster or a slaver to cause any real damage to the transport with its shields down.  With its shields up it would be even more ineffectual.

Re: Act 4: The Escape

Mark turns to Flash.  "So as he says Two.  Keep her fired up and ready to go but don't roll out.  Roy, be ready to activate our shields at a moments notice if needed."

He then steps to the back of the cockpit and mutters into his comm.

Re: Act 4: The Escape

Jamie pauses after scanning the base from the cover of the doorway, then holds his comm close to his mouth.
Jamie signaled to Xil to cover him, then readied his rifle again.  Crouching low, he glanced around the base again before moving toward the AA gun.

Re: Act 4: The Escape

Jamie and Xil quickly and carefully move to the AA gun.  They reach the weapon without incident or without spotting any trouble.  A quick glance confirms the weapon is powered down just like Roy had promised.

Re: Act 4: The Escape

Mark stared at Roy wondering what the man was talking about.  'What is a flyer and how could it be off their port flank?'

He moved forward to stand behind Roy and looked at the sensors.  Understanding dawned and he switched on the comm.

"Attention.  We have an unidentified craft exactly two thousand metres directly above us.  Its intentions are unknown.  Stay frosty."

Re: Act 4: The Escape

Hearing the comm call, Jamie immediately looked up into the night sky.  "Watch my back, please," he said to Xil as he examined the AA turret for controls.
It would be nice if there was a simple power button...
Jamie picked up his comm again and broadcasted, "This is Five, I'm going to try to power up the AA gun.  How big is this craft?"

Re: Act 4: The Escape

Having quickly glanced up after hearing the call on the comm, Exilim returns his attention to the compound. He continues to do systematic scans of the buildings with short glances skyward incase of other surprises.

"I really hope that you can get that thing working" he says to Jamie in the most encouraging way he can.

Re: Act 4: The Escape

Though they instinctively look upwards, the action is useless.  Even on a clear day, spotting a ship two kilometres up would be pointless unless it was the size of a Star Destroyer (in which case they were dead anyway).

Jamie quickly finds the manual controls.  They work similarly to a remote operated turret with a simple targetting display and joystick.  However the guns are powered down and require a password to re-activate.

Re: Act 4: The Escape

Jamie looked up from his fiddling to Xil.  "There's some sort of password on here.  Roy powered it down, maybe he set one.  If not, I don't think I can power it up.  I'm not exactly a top-notch slicer.  If you want to hope, you should hope your rifle can blow up a starship."
Jamie hopped on the comm again, saying, "Roy, if you put a password on this turret, I could use it about now."

Re: Act 4: The Escape

For simple expedience, Roy did set a password and so bypassing the lockout and powering up the weapon is no problem.  Soon the turret is powered up.  On your targetting display a dot appears.  It's somewhere between 100-150 metres in length.  Its range is 1985m straight up and its not moving.  The sensors aren't sophisticated to tell you much more.

Re: Act 4: The Escape

At the sound of Roy's warning Daniel immediately set's himself into a combat state of mind. The ship's weapons couldn't do much in the hanger but he would be ready if he was needed. Taking this time to get use to the weapon he moved the turrent around to get a feel for how much he would need to adjust his aim. Can we do a detailed sensro sweep of that thing to find out exactly what it is? He says to the others onboard the transport assuming that it was the only ship that might possibly have sensors strong enough to find out any detail about the unidentified vessel.

Re: Act 4: The Escape

Sorry the sensors can’t get a good enough lock on it, but from the profile I can guess that it is about 130m wide and that putting it in to either large transport on light cap ship. Either way could have a ton of weapons.

Flash keeps the transport actually hovering on the repulsors, ready to either drop or shoot out of the hangar as the need may be.
