On board the YT-2000

In an effort to streamline this thread I'm starting a new thread for those on board the ship.  Since you're now yelling at each other I feel its the time to stop working in PM.  I'll stick the last couple of posts in this thread.  Then enjoy!

Re: On board the YT-2000

Jace's call was only met with silence.  Waiting a few moments he waited to see if anything happen.  After thirty seconds, and no response, he shouted again.  The blood was starting to rush to his head and he was likely to pass out if he stayed upside down too much longer.

Jace was halfway through shouting when someone shouted back.  The proximity of the voice suggested someone was standing just beyond the closed turret hatch.

'SHUDDUP! the voice bellowed, then in a more normal tone:  'That's better.  Your ship is ours and we've locked the controls.  That means we don't need you alive to help us run this thing.  Better find another way to make yourself useful - and you can start by not trying to escape; sit tight and behave and you get to live, OK?  Now, anything you feel you should be telling us?'

"Other than that I was about to lend a hand in your escape by gunning down the guards with this turret?  They know where your friends are.  Most of the guards are inside the warehouse, as far as I can tell.  They were loading up a gift for my boss, but I can always tell him that things went south before they started loading.  If you want any other intel, you'll have to be more specific."

'oooookay... well, you seem like you want to co-operate, so here's the deal:  you promise to not try and escape, and we'll promise to not gun you down, okay?'

There was a pause.

'Say, buddy: whats this gift you were supposed to be loading?'

"Wasn't told, didn't ask," Jace replied.  "Most likely valuable though; the Hutts aren't exactly cheap.  Sounds like a good deal to me.  Don't suppose you could secure me somewhere where I won't black out from hanging upside down for too long, could you?"

Re: On board the YT-2000

In the pilot seat, Devon watched as Flash and Jamie cut down the two pirates from behind with cool precision.  He too could see the three pirates approaching along the west wall that Mark had reported.  So far Jamie and Flash had not responded to their arrival.

The shipjacker could do little but watch in helpless frustration.  The only weapons this crate had was its turrets and he was currently using the bottom turret as a makeshift detention cell which didn't help him.

Re: On board the YT-2000

Seeing the emergency on the ground, Devon brings the ship in for a landing, landing a few metres away from the edge of the landing zone.  Staring at Flash's smoking body, Devon reflexively powers down the necessary systems, whilst keeping the engines active.  He then lowers the cargo ramp before reaching for his blaster.

Re: On board the YT-2000

"Do you have any idea how uncomfortable hanging upside down is?" Jace asks dryly as he reaches Devon, making sure that he's too close for a blaster to be of use before he speaks.  "If we work together, we can keep your friends in one piece.  If not, I'll sit down somewhere out of your way and offer up a little prayer to the force.  Take your pick."

Re: On board the YT-2000

After staring goggle eyed for a moment, Devon chose his words carefully.
'Fine.' he said, standing up slowly, mistrust in his eyes. 'You wanna be helpful?  fine.  There a medkit on board?  show me.  But give my associates the slightest cause to doubt you and...' Devon glanced meaningfully at the blastercarbine he had left propped against the control panel.

'Now show me that medkit! he hustled out of the cockpit, shooing Jace ahead of him.

Re: On board the YT-2000

OOC: As one would assume that there would be at least one medkit on a transport ship of this type, feel free to disregard this if there isn't:

"Yeah, there's one in the cargo bay.  This way," Jace replies evenly.  He leads the way and shows where the medkit is; just five feet from the loading ramp.  "We always keep one here in case of emergencies.  You know how to use it?  I don't, so depending on how far you're willing to trust me, I can lay down suppressive fire to cover your friends while they bug out here."

Re: On board the YT-2000

Devon shrugged, 'Simple fact is, I've no reason to trust you:  after all, we are stealing your ship.' he grinned 'YOU hold the medkit whilst the others come on board, then follow all their instructions.  That way your not holding a weapon the first time they see you, and your being useful.'

Devon slowly brought his hand out from behind his back, holding a blaster pistol.  He didnt aim it at Jace, but it wasnt exactly pointed away either.
'The alternative is that your a threat to us, and my orders were to eliminate threats.  That means you and me end up having a gun-battle right here, right now.  Maybe I'd win, maybe not... maybe we'd both get shot.  I imagine neither of us wants to die today, so you hold that medkit and look harmless, OK?'

Internally, Devon fretted; a gun battle at this range would be deadly for all concerned... he prayed to the Force that Jace would choose the option that meant everyone stayed alive...

Re: On board the YT-2000

Jace shrugs.  "Your call," he says calmly, preparing the medkit for use.  "Just think on this; if I wanted you and your friends dead, you'd have died in the cockpit, I'd have returned power to the turret and I'd be gunning your friends down now.  By the way, I plan on ending my current employment after this job; my boss tells me that once this one's over, he's considering my debt paid.  Trust me; never get in debt with a Hutt.  Don't suppose your company has any vacancies open for someone good at sneaking around, does it?"

Re: On board the YT-2000

'Yeah, you got a point there,' conceeded Devon  'But it aint for me to say if theres vacancies or not'  answered Devon cautiously.  I try to steal his ship and now he wants to team-up??

'But, if we get out of this with us all alive, I can introduce you to the man who makes the decisions.  So if your on the level with me, lets trust each other enough to make sure we both get out of this alive, ok?'

Quite deliberately, Devon turned his back on Jace and headed for the ramp, his shoulder muscles tightening in anticipation of the blaster-bolt he was more than half expecting...

Re: On board the YT-2000

"Can't say fairer than that," Jace replies with a nod, crouching on one knee.  "So how about we go ahead and save those friends of yours before we're both looking for new jobs?"
