Re: Return

In reply to Devon Kismet (msg #670):

Mika chuckles, "I don't mind the hard work and the getting shot at, but not a lot of sleep...?  That might be a deal breaker."  She chuckles again, glad to be away from the mass of people and with someone else who knows which end of the hydrospanner to hold.

"What's the pay like?  And the requisitions?  If they provide solid pay and solid equipment, that's pretty sharp.  I figure if I sign on, I'll let Zyra know that I'm a fair hand with tweaking blasters, get a bit more range or a bit more damage, that sort of thing.  I built this one myself...."  She pats the blaster at her hip.  "But if I sign up, I've been thinking about an upgrade, something with more of a punch to it."

"Sturdy looking ship."  Setting aside the chatter as they study the R-41, she shrugs.  "I'm not as solid with these snubs as I am the cap ships, but I've sliced a navicom or three in my day.  If we get the serial numbers of the ship, or even just some of the major components, we might be able to back track but it'd take a long time, especially if they've made even a half-assed attempt to cover their tracks.  But hey, just looking at the life support system might tell us something if they don't scrub the local air too much.  I wonder if it's got anything in the cargo compartment?"

Zyra bows slightly to the droid.  "Thank you CC9, my Geonosian is rusty so let's stick to Basic.  Can you please ensure the hangar remains secure?  All entrances and exits are logged and only authorised personnel to be allowed out or in."

"Also if you see Jamie Webb or Rann Pertwee in your patrols, please inform them that our Z-95 Headhunters need to be moved into the hangar for maintenance and security purposes.  Thank you."

Re: Return

"By your command."  The droid turns on its heel and stomps out, heavy-footed but perhaps not as much as one would expect from a Baktoid combat droid.  On its way out it lets out a series of harsh beeps in Binary and the two B1s, who were still standing sentry just outside the door, follow it.

Stomp, stomp, stomp it goes, on its way to the hangar.  The huge battle droid's predecessors follow along behind without comment, their footsteps in perfect time with one another.  Their paintjobs might need touching up but there's nothing wrong with a single actuator or servo motor in any of them.

In reply to Mika Trake (msg #672):
OOC:  assuming theres no corpse in the cockpit

'Well, you already know about the bonus situation...' said Devon as he settled himself into the R-41s cockpit.  At first he simply sat there, studying the R-41s controls.
'Zyra's the one to give you the full run down on finances - that's her job.  Me?  I'm the walking lockpick and ship thief, although Mark was smart enough to realize that all my small-ship knowledge made me a good engineer too.  Been the Talons engineer since then.  If your not so hot on snubbies then I reckon you and I can work well together - until the Talons got hold of the Shrike, I never bothered with ships that I couldnt steal single handed.  So it looks like we cover each others weakpoints; how about you help me with the little guys, and I'll help you with the big ones?'

Almost hesitantly, Devon punched a button; then several others in quick succession.
'Ok, lets see what this navcom has for us.  Good idea on the life support system by the way - hadn't thought of that.' Devon tapped a few more buttons.  'Cargo compartment should be opening now - give me a shout if you find anything fun.'

Wriggling to get comfortable, Devon continued his work on the flight computer.

OOC:Devon Kismet rolled 26 using 1d20+12. computer use.

'Rann Pertwee,  Talons quartermaster.' Rann replied as he shook hands.
'Yeah - Typhon Energy: back before the escort run I spent a long night in the local bars talking to shuttle crews.  Solid rumour says that Typhon are bankrolling the pirates.</b>'

'<b>I haven’t had any sleep since before the escort run – Devon decided to catnap in his cockpit on the way back, but I haven't worked out that trick yet... so I need to get some real sleep.  I'm headed to sleeping quarters.  Happily show you the way, but after that I'm going to say goodnight.'

Re: Return

Mika gives a nod of the idea that she help Devon with the snubs and he helps her with the caps.  "Yeah, the bonus is sweet.  So you don't pull a standard wage then?"

As Devon opens the cargo compartment, Mika moves to explore it.  Clothes, documents, most anything would be useful.  As she looks, she thinks of another query, "So, what about salvage?  If you find a dead pirate, do you get to keep his stuff or do you gather up whatever and turn it over for orderly dispersal?"

Re: Return

When the exchanged had ended, Darvin had gone to check out the ships. First he tried to familiarize himself with the Nightshrike and quickly mapped out the ship in his head (bridge, engineering and occupied crew quarters). Outside, the Droids were busy bustling about performing maintenance, or running security and he didn't exactly feel like socializing. Flash had taken most of it out of him, and he'd sooner not talk to anyone else that night. Not even the droids.

When he got to the R-41, he found it being serviced by Mika and Devon. They hadn't noticed him, so busy were they in the work they knew best. He observed them, like a fatherly figure would two children to see how they were getting along. He had to smile at how well they were working together. He figured that they'd get it operational in no time. If it weren't for the missing canopy, they might be able to fly it tomorrow even.

Satisfied and happy that the two were getting along, he went off to look at the two Z-95's From what he could tell, they were in good fighting condition. The main problem he saw was that they had no concussion missiles or proton torpedoes. The ships had lasers but lacked the extra punch... he didn't like that, but what could you do? You had to work with what you got, and it didn't look like the finances were that hot on the surface. As he was walking back he stopped in his tracks. "Yeah... what about that body?" he wondered all the sudden. Maybe he should go check it out too.

In a huff, he rushed towards the medical ward, where he figured the fridges kept Mr. J. D. Pirate on ice.

Re: Return

In the medical bay a tall, angular droid is standing near a bench when Darvin charges in.  It seems to have been searching for something and sighs slightly at the human, turning to face him.

"Please state the nature of your medical emergency.  If you have one," the droid adds in a slightly put-upon voice.  It looks the man up and down briefly.  "Too much coffee, perhaps?"

Re: Return

Xil had missed the altercation between Flash and Darvin having already left the debrief. He had taken time to check and stow his gear, knowing that he wouldn't get a lot of time once out of the bacta tank.

Once satisfied, he headed to the medical bay. "Hello, anyone?' he calls out as he enters, stopping just inside the door as he notices Darvin "Oh, hello. You hurt yourself already?"

He turns to the medical droid "Exilim Nallis reporting for his assigned bacta tank treatment."

Sheila shows up shortly after Xil, Most of the supplies she needed to requisition were in medical anyhow and hopefully while She was waiting her turn, she could sleep.  Seeing Darvin in there burst that bubble.

"Ah yes," the droid responds to Xil, in that slightly rushed, slightly strained voice.  "Somebody who actually appears injured.  Your arrival has been expected, Mr Nallis.  Please, come this - and Ms Masters, I see.  You've arrived particularly promptly.  Abnormally early one might say."

As it leads Xil over toward the bacta tank it says, "Please strip down to your bare essentials, Mr Nallis.  Were you expecting to perform medical procedures whilst you wait, Ms Masters?  If this gentleman is entirely healthy," it adds, indicating Darvin Sloan, "then I'm uncertain there's anything for you to do; Mistress Lambar has given me instructions to follow your commands... for the most part."

2-1B-D3:
"Please state the nature of your medical emergency.  If you have one," the droid adds in a slightly put-upon voice.  It looks the man up and down briefly.  "Too much coffee, perhaps?"

Darvin blinked, surprised at the droid's conclusion, and then laughed once more at Xil's insinuation. "Hello! Exilim is it?" he said to Xil, recalling what Zyra had called him during the brefing. "and No... no medical emergency, and no coffee, though I could possibly use a cup. I didn't realise this place would be so busy..." he said scratching his beard. "I actually came by to find out more about the dead pirate. I want to have a look at the body, its personal belongings if any, and perhaps get your initial autopsy report if you've made one," Darvin explained turning towards the droid, "but you should assist the injured first. I will wait."

He smiled warmly at Sheila in greeting, though he left her to brood on her own. Darvin looked happy and energetic. He was on a lead and he was doing what he loved best, sniffing out dirt and investigating. So much so that his earlier issues seemed to have melted away. "Incidently, I was rather impressed with you changing the convoy's flight plan and your general observations of the pirates, " he told Xim, "and I'm very much looking forward to working with the both of you," he added as he stepped asside for him and Sheila to get treated.

In reply to Darvin Sloan (msg #684):

Sheila raises an eyebrow at Mr Sloan, her demeanor is anything but warm, in fact the temperature in the room may actually drop a couple degrees.  "Really Mr Sloan?  Your behavior back at the briefing really didn't lead me to believe that.  In fact, I really didn't sense all that much respect for us from you at all, to the point that I was kind of wondering why you were still here?"

then she turns to the droid. "Actually, I had hoped to sleep until it was my turn, but I forgot about medical bays, one can't sleep there.   I just need to make sure I restock the medical supplies, so I suppose this is as good a time as any."

Re: Return

"Ah, before you disrobe," the droid says, ignoring Darvin completely, "I have double-checked the bacta treatment lists.  We have no bacta," it says with a slight sigh, looking over a datapad, "though frankly it would be astoundingly useful as neither myself nor Ms Masters can be expected to tend to people in a glorified shed, and your treatments are scheduled for immediate commencement within the Phindar Petroleum medbay.  Looks like neither yourself, Ms Masters or Mr Jai are my patients.  There is an instruction here to report to the Phindar Petroleum medbay immediately."  He inclines his head very slightly.  "Have a nice day, and try not to hurt yourselves too greatly."

Then it finally turns to Darvin Sloan.  "I am uncertain as to which pirate you refer to, Mr Sloan.  There is no 'dead pirate' on board, though if you require one for some purposes I'd rather not compute you may possibly be able to requisition one from Ms Zyra Jax."

Re: Return

Darvin was surprised that the body wasn't at the medical ward, but he seemed rather unphased by Sheila's accusations, "Frankly Miss Masters, my opinion was solicited and I gave my usual blunt assessment. If you take offense too easily, just think of the show it'd be if I were summoned for ambassadorial duty. I'm not known as a krifing diplomat, and I wouldn't care for scraping snooty arses anyway. I prefer it when people are straight and to the point as you are being now. No airs, just what you see is what you get," Darvin said matter of factly. "Incidently, it's apparent to me after having taken stock of the fighters that I had grossly underestimated the Talons' capability of actually salvaging anything given the weapons that the pilots had at their disposal. It's a shame, really, there'd be good money if you could capture more vessels..."

Re: Return

The medical droid, predictably, has little to no interest in the non-medical interactions between organics.  It turns its back on the humans, heading to a bench and saying as it does, "If you need anything else please inform me, Ms Masters.  I am in fact taking stock of the equipment and checking it against the indexes of medical records, so if you wish me to transmit a copy to you in order to save you doing the work I am permitted and willing to do so."

With a chorus of metallic feet, and not at all the Imperial March by John Williams, B2-CC9 and its two B1 underlings march into the hangar.  There is a harsh beeping of Binary as the super battle droid directs the B1s and the three split up, taking their places in the hangar at strategic points around the space.  None of them pay attention to Mika or Devon, intent on following their orders.

Re: Return

In reply to Darvin Sloan (msg #688):

"What I took main offense at was you accusing one of us of being 'leak' with no evidence other than he disagreed with you on something, then when he attempted to remove himself from the situation, you became even more obnoxious and attempted to follow him so you could "watch" him.  Then when it was suggested that you back off, you denied what you had just said, and gave a song and dance about incidents in your past and blamed your assinine behavior on his defensiveness, when you were the one who attacked him without reason.  And it was an attack on him.  NOt a criticism on how we performed, but an actual attack on one of the team, an accusation that he was a traitor to the group, with no evidence. Yes, Flash can be a loudmouth blowhard, but right now, you're more of one, and you dont have an excuse, you're older, as you pointed out you have more experience leading people, and so you really should know alot better.  There, does that answer your question, Mr Sloan.

SHe looked at Xil, then pulled her padd out.  THere it was, in black and while, exactly where they were supposed to report for their swim.  "Shall we Xil, then, go for our swim at the place we;re supposed to be at."

2-1B-D3 doesn't interrupt but when Sheila asks Xil if they should go it says lightly, "The order was to report there 'ASAP', but even if you choose to find Mr Jai first I would appreciate if you could take this conversation out of the medbay.  I certainly can't contribute to it and unless you'd all like some kind of tranquiliser to settle your nerves I would suggest the medbay is not the ideal place to continue arguing the point.  Perhaps the mess hall, they have relaxants of a different kind."

"Quiet droid, your assistance in this matter is not required," he said tersely to the droid, "Miss Masters feels that she has a valid grievance, and you will not boss her about because she is inconveniencing you with it." He then turned towards the girl in question, his stance softening as he did so. "Your recollection of the facts, Miss Masters, is somewhat incorrect. I retracted my comment about the leak and had apologized during the briefing. Later, your friend incorrectly perceived my request to talk with him privately as an open accusation, and if you check the logs you will find that your friend actually threatened me first, not the other way around, and things escalated from there. I don't see that there's much more I can do at this point," he added.

"Scuse me folks, I'm going to go on a little tour with our friendly neighborhood Duros,  Might want to have them scan the channels, and tag us, I don't trust him."   She resumed her normal tone.   "Then you got stupid with him and didn't know when to leave a dead tired pilot alone.  You still don't."  She paused again. "Are you going over to the other medical bay?  IF so, would you mind going a different way, I'd rather not walk with you, be followed by you, or follow you, right now, unless it's absolutely necessary."  She looked at Xil. "It isn't absolutely necessary, is it?"  She pulled out her comm, to find the gungan. "8 it's 3,  are you headed to the PPA medical, cause that's where we're supposed to be for  the bacta."

He did threaten my life, some point that you fail to understand. Hate me if you want to Miss, but don't distort the facts."
