Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Debriefing

Mika wasn't anxious to pull the commanders attention to hers,ef, but she'd never been one to know when best to keep her mouth shut, and she wanted to make sure the record got reported straight.

"What happened is when Darvin went missing.  Him and Merreck.  I don't rightly know what happened to them.  Shelia, A-9 and I were assignd trying to slice some data, so wewere working on that, using a tap cafe's net when we heard about local story, a frogman had got on the wrong side of the law.  That's when we heard that some of the others were in trouble.  we tried regrouping, but neither Sloan nor Toluga reported in.

We took a while figuring which way to go.  It was decided that Devon, A-9 and I would see about some transportation. We jacked the freighter and here we are.  I'm not the expert on what the others did."

Cor nods slightly at her astromech, translating for him automatically.  "A9 says that as Mister Nallis and Mister Jai were scouting together at the time it is Mister Nallis that has the most accurate information.  I was nowhere near the area, on a separate mission with Ms Jax."

A frown creases her brow slightly, glancing over to Mika.  "I knew Mister Sloan a little, though admittedly not overly well.  Not reporting in at all does not sound much like him.  If...  If Mister Toluga and Mister Sloan have gone rogue or defected they will need to be hunted down."

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Debriefing

Mark frowns.  "Well while we wait for Mister Nallis, lets examine the rest of the mission.  I'm basing this off the XO's report so feel free to add anything I miss.  She writes that after the troubles in Seba Grove, she ordered you all to head to Sorren.  She'd split you into three teams.  One group she assigned to harras an Imperial Senator, one was to acquire a starship and one to rescue a group of civilians from Imperial assault.  By the end you managed to acquire a Ghtroc 720 transport, escape off-planet with a dozen refugees with the loss of one team member in the process."

He turned to look at Cor.  "The XO speaks very highly of your exploits Ms Lambar.  She states that while the two of you did not achieve her primary objective that the pair of you, aided only by your super battle droid managed to infiltrate the residence of a highly placed Imperial Senator, downloaded his database, gained total access to one of his security droids and acquired a high level diplomatic clearance code to get off-planet.  She cites your ability to co-ordinate various teams and feels this may be an asset in the future.  We will have need of it."

He turns back to the group.  "Now the transport should be mentioned at this point.  XO states that while Mr Kismet and Ms Trake actually stole the ship it was a team effort.  Ms Lambar's droid actually got you into the spaceport, Mr Kismet's team provided needed support for the XO to get the clearance code needed to get you all off-planet.  Even Ms Master's efforts kept Imperial resources diverted.  As such the XO feels the decision regarfing the Ghtroc should be a group decision and I concur."

"The choices are simple.  We can sell the ship on the black market.  It's higher risk but promises the best return.  The credits would be equally shared between all Talons.  Secondly, we could return the ship for a 'finders fee' to the relevant insurance company.  It will be less pay but is low risk and could generate some goodwill with some local companies we can use in the future.  Finally, we can keep the ship for further operations.  There can be no reward for this as there will be no credits incoming, in fact it will cost money to modify the ship enough for undetectable use.""

"We should also consider the stormtrooper command speeder.  We again can choose to either sell it or keep it.  If we sell it the proceeds will be shared evenly.  If we keep it there can be no credits."

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Debriefing

Cor nods elegantly at the Commander's acknowledgement of her actions.  She looks thoughtful at his words regarding her work on the comms and glances briefly at CC9 as if reminding herself of something.

The Umbaran listens intently to the options regarding the ship and speeder.  "A simple answer that would also, unfortunately, result in less financial gain for all of us individually, would be to sell one off and use the money to fund the refit of the other.  Regarding the Ghtroc," she says lightly, "I would suggest that Ms Trake and Mr Kismet have a little more weight than most of us in the decision as they did secure it, but for my part I believe it is a matter of scope.  We could sell it now or return it for a quick and perhaps sizeable reward, but keeping it may - if we can determine a way - allow us to recoup a great deal more money over time.  If we can manage to devise a way to make money from it - perhaps doing supply and passenger runs or smuggling operations alongside our normal activities - we may be able to use it to further our common goals and make enough money on the side that it would make keeping and outfitting it more worthwhile."

She looks around, perhaps for an opinion, perhaps to see how many people she's managed to aggravate this meeting.  "If nothing else, having identification and credentials - if falsified - as a trader, merchant or commercial freight service would give us a ready-made cover for getting teams down planetside when we need them there."

Cor taps a finger thoughtfully on the table as she continues.  "Regarding the speeder, that is a very different issue.  It is recognisably military tech and outfitting it to seem more innocuous would be a waste of time.  However it may prove invaluable during paramilitary raids and assault manoeuvres.  It is armoured, yes?  Do we know the exact specs of the vehicle, its capacity, capabilities, armour quality and operating parameters?"

OOC: Nobody has gone over the speeder in detail but it wouldn't take one of the three engineers long to do so.  The speeder is essentially a variant of an A-A5 speeder truck.  Info is in the arms and equipment guide.

Grayrhynn can't help but hear the whisper of heigren, the only person he knows, and close his eyes. Even though he had known him a short time, he knew well his humor and his togune. And though he considered him a friend, he also wished that he'd sometimes keep his opinion to himself.

The woo ie, standing not a few steps from him, quietly shuffles behind him and places a paw on his shoulder. He looks at him, seriousness in his eyes, and shakes his head, again looking at the commander.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Debriefing

Sheial glanced to the side, where the three 'newcomers' were.  She'd been sitting closest to them, furthest from Mark, probably representative of her feelings about the whole thing, andshe'd noticed thewhispering, even if no one else had understood it.  She'd ignored it until she thought she heard the Zeltron say something about 'sleeping with'.

She glanced over at the Zeltron, eyes narrowed, in the classic expression of the movie goer looking at the rude kid behind them who on't shut up, then she turns her attention back to the leader of the group.  Sleeping with?  OK, MArk was good looking, even in furious, something she'd never really thought of.  She let her mind go in that direction for exactly 2 seconds, and brought it right back to where they were and were supposed to be.  Speeders and ships.  And explanations.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Debriefing

Arin gave Heigren a glance and nodded towards the wookie to indicate, he was on the same lines with the big fellow. And that was when his eyes caught Sheila, sitting not a very long way from him. She seemed familiar somehow. He knew, he had to recognize her from somewhere and that somewhere was probably the Imperial Navy. He could not really put a tab on it, but he could tell, they had been somewhere at the same time prior to this, which was impossible, had she not been a fighter jockey for the Navy.

Heigran returned Sheila's look with an appraising stare, devillish grin and a wink.  If he senses her frustration, it doesn't show on his face.  His looks suggests fun, good times and promises of fun.

When Gray and Arin air their frustration he sighs a little.  He could already sense their disapproval long before he looked at them.  He turned to Arin, and grinned.

"And you accuse the Umbaran of having no sense of humour?" he whispered.

"Some things you just don't crack jokes about", Arin whispered. He looked serious for two reasons. First of all, they were there as guests and it wasn't polite to begin the visit by insulting the host. And there was also the matter of being polite and not disturbing the debriefing.

Devon looks up from fiddling with his datapad.
"Cor, please..." he said  "the COPS call me 'Mr Kismet.'  I get nervous when people start calling me that."
He looks round at the group. "She is right though, at the moment our transport options are either the cruiser - sorta easy to notice - or hire someone to help us get places.  I'd kinda like to keep the Ghtroc and refit her for our needs.  Basic refit would be changing the transponders, and enough cosmetic work to prevent the old owner from recognising it if we fly past.  Say... a week."  Devon looked to Mika to see if she agreed. "A week?  Maybe two?  Transponders are the tricky part."

Devon paused for a moment whilst he checked something on his datapad.
"But if we did want to sell her... I'd guess we can get about 25,000 for her.  But what I'd like to do is keep the transport, sell the speeder and put that money toward refitting the transport.  That means we'd see no profit from the sale though..."

Devon  glanced around the table, he sorta expected that last option to not be very popular...

Heigran snorted.  "Of course you do.  There isn't a rulebook on humour.  And if there was, you should set it on fire and use it to light some fireworks."

Seeing that several people were staring at him, the Zeltron pulled out a datapad and pulled up a game of virtual pazaak.  Seriously, these people took themselves far too seriously.  He was tempted to go raid the kitchen for some whiskey but figured he could wait a while.  Maybe things would get more fun.

Mark looks around the room.  "Seems most of you have nothing to say about the transport and speeder.  Cor and Devon seem to agree they would like to sell the speeder to make modifications to the transport which we would keep.  This arrangement would result in no profit for any of you.  If the rest of you have an opinion on this speak now or live with the decisions made.  We have other business to discuss."

OOC:  Going to give people 1 more day to post to this (to keep with the 3 day posting rule).  Then we'll move on, especially so we can get Arin, Grayrhynn and Heigran involved.

Cor looks around curiously.  The near-complete lack of discussion seems a bit unusual to her.  She smiles at Devon before nodding slightly - the 'Mister Kismet' point has been made, certainly - and waits for someone else to put their opinion forward.

Her droids don't comment.  This is organism talk.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Debriefing

Mika finds herself a little uncertain on the whole thing.  On the one hand, it seems almost pointless to her to have gone through the effort of jacking the ship only to turn around and give it back, or sell it.  Still, it was a nice little pot of cash the commander was talking about and of course the main thing was to get off planet, not start building up a fleet of freighters.  Which reminds her, she'd offered quite a sizable loan to Sheila, she'd have to verify where things stood with that.

She didn't care much about the speeder, selling it wouldn't net any great windfall of cash, especially if the proceeds were used to update the freighter.  Her reverie is interrupted though as Devon speaks up.

"What, uh, yeah...  Well, I've never sliced a new transponder code, but I can't imagine it'd take more than a week.  I've also not looked over the speeder, so I can't really speak well as to what I think needs to happen there.  But I think before we spend a lot of time in figuring out what to keep or what to sell, we need to figure out what we'll need.  Anything on the books that calls for a freighter or a speeder?"

"No doubt with the flexibility of our organisation we could adjust our objectives to suit either," Cor suggests, nodding to Mika, "to take advantage of such or to do without.  And while I can imagine we all have quite a need for liquid assets we can certainly turn either the speeder or the transport - particularly the latter - toward gainful tasks."  She enters a few notes on her datapad as she adds, "If we were to keep one and sell the other I would say that as Mr Ki- er, Devon suggested the transport would be the better option.  From a business standpoint it is by far the more valuable unless we intend to raid small outposts for resources."

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Debriefing

Mark cut in.  "Perhaps we shall leave this discussion until after you have been briefed on our next mission.  I can assure you neither the transport or speeder will play a role and if things go well, I can promise you all a noticeable increase in your credit accounts.  By the Sith, pull this mission off and I'll treat you all to a week's leave, all expenses paid. . .That's all reasonable expenses paid Mister Kismet."  Mark deliberately uses the more formal name with the shipjacker.

He turns to the group comprised of Heigran, Grayrhynn and Arin.  "The three of you are not members of this group but you all have reason to hate the Empire.  I will tell you that this group is a hybrid paramilitary/mercenary group.  Our goal is simple, to attack the Imperial war machine.  If you join with us I promise you will never be asked to directly attack a civilian target, our fight is with the Empire.  Our next sortie will require all the skilled hands I can get so I make you this offer.  Join us now and help us attack the Empire.  If you do not wish to be involved, I must ask you to leave now."

OOC:  Since I don't expect anyone to leave, I've started the new thread.
