Re: Act 6.1: Shore Leave (Take 2)

Seeing Devon looking for debriefing from the Blue Team, Kyvarr spoke up.  "Sir, Blue team appeared to execute your orders with precision and skill.  Of course I was too busy trying to fly my ship to do anything more then just fly straight sir."

Mika looks over at Devon.  "Hugging the missiles tails, well as much as a cap ship can, was Idaya's order, I just tried to follow it."

Re: Act 6.1: Shore Leave (Take 2)

Idaya gave a slight nod at Mika, who could have easily taken the credit for the idea but chose not to. It seemed, she appreciated the notion.

"I must commend the Blue team on a fight well fought. I am afraid, your initial barrages made it quite difficult to respond in kind, but only a few more seconds and I believe Mr. Cloudrider would have met his fate at the end of a turbolaser induced fireball. At least virtually, that is. The last transmission gave your position away reasonably well, so you were already in our sights. And I believe you conducted what we call 'Hammer and Anvil' - firing on a capital ship from both sides of the bow in an angle, making it impossible to dodge all the ordnance."

Re: Act 6.1: Shore Leave (Take 2)

Flash snorted, unable to control himself.  "So you knew which ship was the commander's?  Big deal.  You'd already lost.  Would killing the Blue Team Leader have made up for getting every member of your own crew killed?  Or did you believe killing him would somehow make the rest of us flee in terror?"

Re: Act 6.1: Shore Leave (Take 2)

"It was similar to a tactic called the claw punch, used in our military."  Kyvarr offered, trying to deflect Flash's comments.  "A modified form of pincer maneuver, the army splits into three main groups.  Two high speed units of tanks and fast walkers attack from the flanks of a mobile enemy to harrass and contain them while the main force of heavy walkers and artillery attacks from either the front or rear.  Goal is to keep the enemy massed together to give the artillery an easier time to inflict damage."

The Cathar didn't really think the group wanted a tactics lesson but she was worried about the direction the conversation seemed to be heading.

Re: Act 6.1: Shore Leave (Take 2)

Sheila sank back into her chair.  She knew what she'd done wrong, she'd managed to lose sight of what the team was doing, ending up in the wrong place and  missing chances to shoot, but otherwise, she thought blue team had done well, she was just surprised that the corvettes had had so much trouble.  But they were, from what the others were saying, weaker than she would have expected them to be.  She started on the third bottle, morosely waiting for Devon to call her out of her failures.

Idaya looked at Flash in a calm manner. "And what would you have done, Mr. Forim, if you were in my stead? Surrendered with torpedoes still homing for you? I am not sure whether the unbalance in the strengths between the two tems were on purpose or accidental, but I would very much like to hear any suggestions of what I could have done differently - if for nothing else, to educate me in capital ship tactics."

Flash moved to respond then looked over at Devon and Cor.  Nodding he tried to appear indifferent, though it was obvious he wasn't.

"That's up to them."  He said gesturing to Cor and Devon.  "It's their debrief."  His tone suggested he'd like nothing more then to give Idaya a 'lesson'.

Re: Act 6.1: Shore Leave (Take 2)

For his part, Devon had no intention of starting into that particular debate again.
"You guys wanna take that up later?  Be my guest.  Yeah, Sola - Send CC9 off if you want." Devon turned his attention back to Fiarr and Kyvar.

He grinned at the Bothans comments about changing tactics.
"Its the way we've always operated - we always have a plan when we go in.. but I don't think we've ever had a mission that went totally according to that plan."  he shrugged.  "Life throws you curveballs?  Adapt.  Improvise."

Fiddling with his datapad, Devon turned to Kyvarr.
"Dont sell yourself short," he told her "OK, so you got no formal training for fighters - but you did fine given that you'd never flown one before today. You're probably better off talking to someone with actual formal training on fighters - someone like the Boss - but I'm thinking if you put the time in for some training, you'd be a pretty damn good pilot.  Maybe not up to Forims level - but I'm fairly sure he poisons anyone who looks like they might be in a position to challange his spot as top dog."

Finishing his whiskey off, Devon set the empty glass down.
"OK, I'm running outta stuff to say; an' I'm betting you're all tired of listening to me anyhow.  Anyone got anything else they wanna say before we wrap this up?"

"Nothing more from myself," Cor says, directing the comment to Devon.  "I believe I have collated the information I required.  I have run both simulation recordings past CC9 to take advantage of his tactics programming and he will have a report for me soon; I will send it on to you, Commander, when I have it.  I myself will likely spend the next few hours tinkering with a beverage dispenser machine, in the unlikely event that I am needed for anything."

Re: Act 6.1: Shore Leave (Take 2)

Dohr had been sitting quietly in the back after he’d given his view on how the simulation went. At first it seemed there would be another argument between Idaya and some of the mercs, but the doctor was happy to see both sides were wise enough to let it go. Another clash would have been pointless and would’ve served no one.

The Kel Dor emptied his glass quietly and nodded to Devon and Cor’s image. ”I would like to thank you all for a very interesting and refreshing afternoon. No matter how things will go from now, I am grateful that you have given us an opportunity to try and show you what we are capable of. Not forgetting the ride off Akari of course.”

Mika glances over a Devon.  "So, what's the plan from here out?  We got any more sims on the schedule or what?  I guess there's still some decisions to be made about who we want to put on the payroll.  Oh, and how long you figure we'll stick around Nar Shaddaa?"

Re: Act 6.1: Shore Leave (Take 2)

Devon shrugged in response to Mika's questions.
"Well, we got this place booked for the next few days, but theres nothing planned for tomorrow - you can come in and use any of the facilities you want.  Run sims, try out guns, beat each other up in the melee arenas, paint a target on Forims back and chase him through the laser tag range.  Whatever you want.  Or dont come in if you dont want to - take the day to do your own things.  Your call."

The shipjacker sighed, he looked tired.
"As to how much longer we're gonna be on Nar Shaddaa?  Well, unless we got some pressin' reason to move on, I figure we stay here till the Boss gets back in touch."

Devon stood up and stretched.
"Anyhow, I figure we're done for today.  Made you guys sit here an' be serious long enough.  Go an' have some fun."
Still looking tired, Devon trailed from the room; his M4 humming along behind him.

Released from their 'official duties', the Talons begin filtering out, ready to enjoy shore leave, well their second attempt at shore leave.

OOC:  Okay guys.  You've got at least a week to yourselves so let me know what you plan to do with it ASAP.  Nar Shaddaa has next to no rules so there's not much you can't achieve here.  This is a good time to catch up on Craft or Profession skills, go shopping for that certain something, customise something, etc.
