Fiarr looked over at Idaya's in confusion.  "Uh, am I a 'marksman'?  Am I still meant to be forward scout or are we holding position?"

Kyvarr gestures to Devon, a feral grin on her face.  "Get rid of that thing, the boss wants us playing fair today."

She turns to Idaya.  "So is my team advancing or have our orders changed ma'am?"  She wasn't sure what Idaya had planned.  The advance plan had been quite specific and now she was ordering people to shoot at taunting enemies.

Kyvarr nodded.  "Understood.  "I suggest we don't stay here long Ma'am.  Six of us in the same room is just asking for a concentrated assault.  We should attack or retreat to more defensive positions before too long."

She returned to her team.  "Okay Team 1 you heard the order.  Keep your heads down but stay ready.  We move as soon as Three Zero gives us the go ahead."

Re: Act 6.1a - Laser tag sim (co-operative)

Fiarr sighed and shook her head as she watched the enemy mercenary continue to appear in random windows on the second floor.  She called quietly to Idaya from her position near the door.

"It's a ruse.  They're trying to get us to shoot.  Either to give away our position or stop us from attacking or preparing our defence.  Possibly all three.  While we waste time with one of their people they're distracting us from the actions of the other nine.  At the same team most of our team is doing nothing other then taking random potshots.  We should save Two's ammo.  Maybe he'll get cocky if we ignore him and Two Zero can pick him off."

Devon nodded, shrugged and propped his improvised shield up against the wall without comment.  Taking up his rifle again he shuffled into position behind CC9 and waited for the go signal.

Re: Act 6.1a - Laser tag sim (co-operative)

"Negative, Three-Zero. I agree with Two-Two. They know what they are doing. No one is staying in the open long enough for me to hit at this distance. I only have six shots, so I need to make each count. It would seem to me too that they are trying to fish out our locations and make us waste ammo. When you start your approach, I will cover you. Twelve, on Three-Zero's mark, suppressive fire at the tenth floor windows."

While he spoke and he was trying to keep it short, Dohr moved to the next window, placed the sniper rifle beside him to be ready, picked up the E11 and resumed scanning the enemy he'd already noticed before. He was a good shot, but at this distance he didn't have high chances of hitting anyone without the scope. He hoped shooting at the windows would be enough to keep the enemies' heads down. He needed to save his ammo on the E-11s."Ready when you are, Three-Zero."

Flash's call did not come as a big surprise to Dohr. He'd already learned a thing or two about the Duros's character. As Flash was shooting at the second floor windows, the Kel Dor adjusted his aim towards the fifth floor.

OOC: I'm assuming everyone has their coms open all the time. And also assuming Flash is blasting at "Happy boy". If not, then Dohr will aim at him/her.

Re: Act 6.1a - Laser tag sim (co-operative)

CC9 scans the locale from his position, entirely ignoring the organic on the top of the building drawing everyone's attention away from potential stealth/infiltration teams.  He keeps his weapon up and ready to fire should the enemy show itself at ground level.  Otherwise he waits passively for orders that don't conflict, disregarding those given by the Talons; this training exercise is supposed to test the leadership skills of Idaya and Dohr, as far as he's been made aware, and it's not easy to do that if every order the pair are given is argued and countermanded (even if doing so makes sense).

Still, who is he to comment?  He's just a toaster with a rifle to most organics.

Re: Act 6.1a - Laser tag sim (co-operative)

As Idaya and Dohr disagreed on the operational plan, most of the doors held position quietly.  The only exception to the rule was Flash.  Cursing, muttering and complaining he shot at the mercenary on the first floor.  While his shots weren't erratic, none failed to hit.  The distance and cover, combined with Flash's small aim time, meant even the skilled sharpshooter was failing to hit.  Seeming to tire of the game, the merc throws a quick but jaunty wave and isn't seen at the second floor windows again.

Dohr watched the enemy structure's fifth floor, initially down the sights of his E-11 but when no enemy showed he switched to his scope.  As he swept the floor he occasionally spotted a shadow.  However he quickly realised this wasn't someone looking out the window, but shadows of people deeper in the building.  Dohr estimated at least two people were moving about the fifth floor, but nobody came near a window.

From their vantage points, Sheila and Heigren also saw these shadows.  Heigren also thought he saw some similar movement on the eighth floor.

Mika contined her work in the command centre on the computer.  It wasn't the easiest job in the world without some slicing gear.  She could of used her mechanical expertise to get into the guts of the machinery but she didn't think the owners would like her damaging their equipment.  She continued her work.

Re: Act 6.1a - Laser tag sim (co-operative)

Seeing the pesky human was no longer playing hide and seek, Flash sat next to the window and calmly swapped power packs between his pistol and sniper rifle.  Better to have a fully charged rifle and half charged pistol.  Once that was done he kept watch from a new window while waiting for the Chiss to do something.  He was eager to take the fight to the enemy.

He called over to Devon.  [Language unknown: "Tenot essconant com aclath?  Starte ad tr pread m reare ng Eauounugh thdipl m fo.  Utica e ivelarred!"]

Re: Act 6.1a - Laser tag sim (co-operative)

Three minutes down on the clock already and still no sign of the enemy attack. Dohr was starting to believe there wouldn't be any. And if there was no offensive from the other side, then their team did not need four people defending the code console either. Then again Idaya's Assault Teams were still inside their own building too. There was no telling if the opponents were thinking along the same lines. Even with the multiple people moving around on three or four floors they might still be planning an attack.

"Two-Zero. Movement on level 5.  Possibliy two Tangos. Cannot confirm number."  Dohr kept on eyeing the windows of the opposite building through the scope. The fact that he didn't see any snipers didn't mean there weren't any. It only meant they weren't complete idiots.

"Ten, what is your status?" If Kimy would be able to create some kind of an obstacle that would slow the enemies down a minute or two, then they might all be able to move into offensive in a couple of minutes. Out of fifteen or in fact thirteen, two would be a lot. Everything could be different by them. But Dohr would let her have the 180 seconds he had initially given her. It had been her idea and he had approved it. Telling her to stop now would be stupid, especially when the situation outside did not call for it.

Fiarr continued her watch, barely moving.  Years of training had taught her to remain motionless for hours, waiting for the perfect moment.  However at this time, she felt they needed to move and move quickly.  The team had set up and planned for an offensive action so they should move forward with it.  The only other choice was to make a defensive plan. . .quickly.  Sitting around in the lobby wasn't going to work, especially if the other team chose to attack.

"Two one acknowledges."

Kyvarr turned to Devon and CC9.  "We're up gentlemen.  You know the plan.  Hold fire until we make cover.  Once there CC9 and I will lay down supression fire as necessary.  Seven, you take aimed shots at any enemy you think you can hit.  Any questions?"

If there was none she moved to the door, gave Fiarr a wink.  Taking a breath she simply said "Assault Team One. Go!"  Then she ran for the cover of the nearest speeder.  Once there she swept the enemy building with her repeater shooting at the largest concentration of enemies.  She held fire if there was no sign of the enemy.

Once her team was all at the speeder and able to lay down cover fire she spoke into her comm again.  "Team Two. Go!  Defense Team, call out hostiles as you see them."

Re: Act 6.1a - Laser tag sim (co-operative)

When Assault Team 1 began running, Fiarr shouldered her rifle and watched for enemy, ready to provide supportive fire.  When she hears the call for Team Two to move she ran towards the second speeder, the one about 160m to the left.  As soon as she got there she resumed her covering fire if the enemy was shooting.

OOC: This is all assuming Idaya didn't change the plan.  If she does, Fiarr will follow the new instructions.

Re: Act 6.1a - Laser tag sim (co-operative)

Devon snorted at Flashs comment, but didnt answer.

As Kyvar gave her instructions, he nodded his understanding, gave his rifle one final check and readied himself for the run to the nearest cover.

As soon as he cleared the door, Devon put his head down and sprinted after Kyvarrs diminutive form.  It was usually about now that he began to get the someones-about-to-kill-me jitters and sure enough he could just imagine an enemy sniper drawing a bead on him.  The fact they were only playing laser tag took the edge off a little, but he didnt slow down from a dead sprint till he was skidding into cover next to Kyvarr.

Nodding to the Cathar, he twisted round to get into a firing position and waited for Kyvarr to open up with her outsized artillery before taking his own aim and hunting for a worthwhile target.

Combat (Surprise Round)

At Idaya's order Assault Team 1 rushed forward, Kyvarr in the lead.  The trio dashed to the speeder nearest the building and took cover without incident.  Once they were ready to offer supporting fire, Kyvarr called the second team forward.

Assault Team 2 rushed out, Fiarr was on point, Flash and Idaya close on her heels.  They ran fast, trusting the other team and the Defence Team to keep them safe.  When Idaya's team had run about 100 metres, still sixty from safety, Idaya heard the calls she'd been dreading.  The comm became a cacophany of voices as the defence team began calling out.

"Contact, fifth floor! Contact fifth floor!

"I've got a bogey on Third Floor, no make that two."

"Sniper on ten, he's firing!"

"Enemy on two, enemy on two."

As the calls came a massive volley of fire spurred out towards Idaya's team.  Down his scope, Dohr could only gasp in horror as Fiarr was struck by a steady stream of bolts courtesy of a heavy repeater.  A sniper hit her too.  While low intensity beams, the force of being struck by so many bolts, threw the Bothan backwards off her feet.  She hit the ground, thoroughly winded.

A voice came over the loudspeaker.

"Player Blue Six has been terminated."

Dohr turned his attention to the enemies.  There were at least six of them shooting.  They were good though.  Nobody was leaning out a window to shoot.  They were using cover or staying back in the shadows.  A quick glance downwards showed that somehow Idaya and Flash had managed to survive the initial volley unscathed.  But they were terribly exposed, their cover still 60 metres ahead.

In the command room, Mika finished her program.  A simple cypher that changed the text anyone wrote into gibberish.  It was crude but she figured it would take someone with computer skill a few minutes to bypass.

**GAME CLOCK - 11 minutes 30 seconds remaining**

OOC:  Well this just turned into a fight.  The enemy has opened fire and targetted Idaya's team who are in the open.  The attack was well co-ordinated, none showed their face until they opened fire.  AT1 and DT had no time to react (i.e. surprise round) but everyone can sure react now!

Fiarr, I'm sorry to say you took the business end of a repeater that ripped through your VP in one round!  Grab a caf and enjoy the show!  Your comm is dead as it deactivates when you 'die'.  Your weapons are still fine if anyone wants to be stupid enough to try and grab them!

Idaya and Flash are sixty metres from their intended cover, which will take two rounds to reach at full run (you can run 40m/combat turn at full run).  There is also a barrel about 55 metres ahead which could cover one.  Nearest cover is the rubble to the extreme right which you could reach in one round (but leaves you still 80m short of the enemy building).

A reminder there is 200m between the buildings.  So with AT2 at 100m from your own base you are also 100m from the enemy base.

Dohr, Sheila and Heigren have all seen where the enemy are.  Mika, you've just finished your handiwork with the computer.

Re: Combat (Surprise Round)

Dohr relaxed and focused his attention on the opposite building as he heard Idaya’s order. But no matter how ready he was, he was still not able to act before the enemy. When AT1 had reached their cover position without any shots fired and AT2 took its turn running across the strip, all of a sudden a group of gunmen appeared in the windows of numerous floors.

”Contact, fifth floor! Contact fifth floor!”, the Doctor shouted through the comms. At the same time he heard voices of Heigren and Sheila call out more hostiles. Before he had a chance to shoot, Dohr saw all of the opponents fire a concentrated volley at AT2. Others were fortunate enough to escape the shots, but Fiarr took the full load from the repeater on the second floor as well as a hit from the sniper rifle on floor 10. Seeing the Bothan fall made the Dohr grimace. It looked so bad that he thought the other team was cheating and had used lethal power on their blasters. Fortunately Fiarr looked dazed, but otherwise ok. The Kel Dor took aim at the one carrying the repeater determined to keep rest of Idaya’s team safe.

Dohr had to remind himself this was only a game. He and Idaya had agreed on going on offensive. In a real life situation he would never had ordered the attack over such a death zone with so little cover, covering fire and intelligence available. But this was a game and it could only be won by taking the enemy flag. More importantly it was a chance to see how the group worked together and of course an opportunity to show his leading skills as requested by the mercenaries. Dohr had made a miscalculation about the opposing team. He had thought they wanted to win the game as well, but it now appeare they did not. The enemy was on the defensive and simply planned to gun all Dohr’s teammates down on the strip. Of course if both ATs would be out early in the game, the opposing team would have no trouble overtaking DT.

The hostiles had obviously played together as team before and had experience of the same game-ground as well. And they were no beginners either. Dohr took careful aim and squeezed the trigger at the repeater-man. (or woman) ”Ten, grab the remaining rifles, pass one to Twelve and head to the windows on the double. Twelve target the sniper on floor 10, Ten’s targets are the Tangos on floor Three.” Dohr took aim again and remembered Janine. She only had a pistol and was too far away from any long-range weapons. ”Three, they’re too far away for you to hit, but fire at the window on floor Two as well.”

Re: Combat (Surprise Round)

"Two, break right! Covering fire!" There was no going forward and even less back, unless one wished to get shot in the back. The only chance was to hit the rubble and take cover there, possibly taking out the enemy from behind at least partial cover. She sprinted there at the best speed possible.

Reaching the cover, she would give out the order to advance to the other team while taking the enemy repeater under her fire and instructing Flash to take the sniper. Of course, they were fighting an enemy shooting from an elevTed position, which was tactically less than good, but it had to do. And the defensive team would hopefully give the enemy something to think about as well.

Kyvarr did not hesitate, but immediately targeted the largest cluster of enemies, her goal to get the most heads down possible.  If the enemy was evenly spread she targeted the enemy repeater.  As she fired she called out her target to her fellow team members so they didn't waste fire shooting at the same target.

When she saw Idaya divert to the side she spoke to her team.  "Looks like Team 2 is going to ground.  Be ready to move on my order."

She kept up her fire as she waited for Idaya to give the advance order.

Whilst he waited for the order to run like hell, Devon gripped his rifle and peered over the speeder, watching for any targets actually worth taking a shot at over this range.

Privately he was more than half expecting to get zapped the second he broke cover.

Heigren watched helplessly from the roof as Fiarr was gunned down.  Even though it was a simulation it brought back memories of his community being gunned down by stormtroopers a few weeks back.  It was maddening to know he was too far away to return fire.  Deep down he was glad that more skilled shooters like DOhr and Sheila were about.  They'd scored well on the range and would do well dishing out payback.
