Re: Combat (Surprise Round)

"yes sir"  Sheila aimed at the second floor opponent carefully, using as much cover as she could from the wall around the window, since the shots would be giving her position away.  Dohr was right, she couldn't hit anything from here, but perhaps the shots would help the assault team get through.  Then she thought, once she was done firing, maybe there was another shield in the trash, although there wouldn't be much time  to look.

Re: Combat (Surprise Round)

CC9 moves with the efficiency of a thing made for combat and yet the clunky movements of something made for combat quite a number of years ago.  Nonetheless his damaged leg has been repaired sufficiently - first by Mika's hand and then Cor's own - and he keeps his bulky form as low as he can as he moves, providing covering fire as best he can; if he hits someone, great.  If not, doesn't matter as long as they keep their heads down.  Crouching next to Kyvarr he nods minutely.

Combat (Rounds 1 & 2)

Idaya shouts for a change of cover and her and Flash dart right at rapid speed, blaster fire erupting all around them.  Idaya notices that Flash seems to be thoroughly enjoying himself.  Could the Duros possible be so happy in real combat?  It was something that bore watching.

As the group ran, Assault Team 1 lay down a scathing fire.  Kyvarr sprayed the third floor while Devon aimed for the fifth and CC9 tried to suppress the sniper.  Fire rained down all around them and a number came very close, but none set off their sensors.

Suddenly through the tumult the loudspeaker announced "Player Red Seven has been terminated."  Down in the open zone, neither Assault Team could tell who had been killed, nor did they care.  All that mattered was one less enemy was shooting at them.

Assault Team 1 kept up its fire, and were joined by Assault Team 2 as the pair reached cover.  Idaya and Flash opened up wildly.  Unable to get an angle on the repeater wielder, Idaya instead poured fire at a fifth floor enemy whom she narrowly missed.  But her shot was a winner none the less.

Distracted by the new fire, the fifth floor combatant has stood exposed for five seconds, which was two seconds longer then Dohr had needed.  Lining up his sniper rifle, taking aim and letting off a shot, just like he'd been trained.  He watched with satisfaction as his shot it centre torso, right where he'd been aiming.

"Player Red Ten has been terminated." came the ominous voice.

Inside the command centre, Mika had snatched up the two rifles and was about to head out.

On the first floor, Sheila took careful aim and opened fire with her pistol even though it was an exercise in futility.  Her pistol shots barely carried as far as the Assault Teams, they fizzled out before they came close to the enemy building.  She needed a weapon with better range if she hoped to hit something.

**GAME CLOCK - 11 minutes 18 seconds remaining**

OOC:  Assault Team 2 has made cover and is laying down supressive fire.  If Idaya wants AT1 to advance she just needs to give the order.  Or she might have decided to change the plan.  Either way, it's up to you!

The Talons have taken down two of the enemy but they are getting whittled down themselves.  I'm running the combat simply.  If you take any WP damage you are 'dead'.  I should point out that while you only killed two enemies, some of the others are taking VP damage.  Then again, so are you!

Remember two day turnaround on combat posts.  Give 'em hell!

Sitting quietly amongst the warzone, Fiarr was gratified to hear that some of the enemy were being 'killed'.  Somehow knowing that others were dead made her feel a bit better.  She watched her friend pouring fire from her repeater into the enemy building.  The Cathar would be in her element.  She grinned as she imagined what would happen if Kyvarr got into close range combat with the enemy.  They would really regret not invoking the 'no melee strikes' rule then!

Re: Combat (Rounds 1 & 2)

"Two-Zero, Three-Zero", Idaya said through the comms, "Concentrate your team's fire on the sniper on the tenth floor to keep him covering. We'll take on the repeater." She braced herself in to a good firing position. "Two, we take alternating turns to fire upon the repeater to keep his head down, if not take him out", she transmitted to Flash. "Two-One, once we start firing, get moving."

So far they had only lost one where as the enemy had lost two, but they were tactically at a disadvantage for now. The whole thing was not lost, though, as the enemy would have to redeploy, once at least one team reached their side and entered the building. There would be four more enemies unaccounted for at the moment, so odds were, they could still beat the enemy, fair and square.

Quickly, she dodged her rifle out of the cover and squeezed off two shots at the repeater, ducking in to the cover again. "Your turn, Two!" The reckless alien was a good shot, she had to admit that, and if anyone, he could take the enemy behind the repeater out.

"Three Zero, Two One ackowledges."

Kyvarr looks to her team.  "Next cover, that speeder ahead.  Assault Team Two couldn't make it, but we'll show 'em what we can do.  If the enemy is suppressed we will charge straight for the building.  On my order."

She let out one more volley from the repeater then called  "Charrrrrge!"

Kyvarr rushed out of her cover and run full pelt for the speeder.  As she said, if the Idaya and Dohr's team can keep the enemy suppressed she'll charge straight for the doors of the enemy building.

Re: Combat (Rounds 1 & 2)

With two enemies down versus one of their own, the game looked slightly better, but was still far from won. Both Assault Teams were in a bad position as the cover was scarce at best and the hostiles were laying down heavy fire. Dohr hoped their recent success would have another kind of effect on their opponents. Perhaps they now realized the Blue-team was not full of newbies either and decided to keep their heads in hiding. It could naturally make Dohr's job more difficult too as his targets would be even harder to hit. But at least the ATs might have a better chance of getting across 'alive'.

Iday's order was not bad, but unfortunately "Dohr's team" currently consisted of only him as the others did not have rifles. That had been a clear mistake on his part him, but right now the Kel Dor put it on the lack of planning time and pushed the thought away from his mind. He would need to give it more time later, when the game was over.

"One Tango on floors Three and Five down. At least one on both remains." While talking Dohr relocated to another window with his rifles. "Roger that, Three-Zero." The sniper would be either easier or harder to hit than the others depending on her (or his) skill and experience. She had to brace her rifle well to line up the shot as the E-11s couldn't take advantage of the multifire option it's assault twin had. And that meant she would have to stay still for a wee bit longer. Then again a trained sniper would know how to keep out of sight. With that in mind Dohr raised his own weeping and started scanning the tenth floor for his counterpart. Though not the best sharpshooter out there, the Kel Dor believed he could take the enemy out, if the other didn't beat him to it. Now that he had scored a hit once, Dohr had without a doubt gained the attention of a hostile or three.

"Ten and Twelve, you heard her. Ten, pass the rifle to Twelve and then proceed to Floor 1, right side and pass the other to Three. Meanwhile Three keep on eye out on the Tangos and call them." Dohr would also focus on the Tenth floor enemy, but he needed to keep on swapping positions to make himself harder to hit. Should he hit the target, he then planned to give the bad news to the second hostile on the third floor. Mika would have to act as a runner right now as Sheila was clearly the better shot. They were not able to help much right now and that was on him, not on either of the women. Having observed all three on the range, it was clear that only the Medic was skilled in using a rifle. Mika had been better than the Zeltron, but it would take too long to have both her and Sheila in position with the rifles. Dohr trusted Vyn would be able to point the E-11 at the windows and squeeze the trigger.

"Charging," CC9 intones in his grating monotone, barely three steps behind Kyvarr and ready to shoot any opposing players that might show their faces.  He feels that lacking suitable oversight of the battle layout in unfortunate; if they had aerial observation support and the constant updates such observation would provide this would likely be a great deal different.

Or perhaps it wouldn't, the droid considers, having been present for the Talon-only meeting.  Perhaps it wouldn't.

CC9 sets an internal reminder that he must see about a servo-motor upgrade.  His model line was designed for mass combat, not small unit manoeuvres.

Devon nods his understanding of Kyvarrs instructions again, and whilst she fires off the final volley with her repeater he hunts around on the ground around him for a moment before scooping up a fist sized rock, which he pockets.
"Throw that through a defended door and yell 'grenade', might get them ducking." explains Devon as he readies himself for the next sprint.

When Kyvarr yelled 'charge', Devon was hot on the Cathars heels, wondering if this time he would catch an incoming shot - both he and Kyvarr had had a a few near misses already.

He then began looking for the tenth floor sniper Dohr had told him to target.

"Thanks."  Sheila accepted the rifly and tried to aim it at the enemy she was trying to hit the first time with a out of range weapon, while trying to not be a target.  It made it more difficult to hit.  She shot once, then moved to the side of the window, and tried to locate enemies in the building and on the ground.

Combat (Rounds 3-5)

Assault Team 1 jumped up and charged for the next cover.  Kyvarr led the way with the force of a stampeding Bantha.  CC9 and Devon were on her flanks.  Laser fire exploded around them, some coming extremely close or even hitting parts of their bodies not festooned with sensors.  All three collapsed behind the speeder that was only forty metres from the enemy's front door.  Only the battle droid was not out of breath, he'd never had any to start with!

Idaya and Flash had continued to lay down suppressive fire.  The Chiss aimed and fired off two rapid shots in succession then the Duros would sit up and fire while Idaya took cover.  Both kept this up watching and willing the other team to make it to safety.

Back in the defense tower, Dohr was engaged in a sniper battle with the enemy across the way on the tenth floor.  Both of them would shoot, then duck to another window before shooting again.  It was a game of hide and seek that neither was winning.  Then to Dohr's annoyance, his rifle jammed and he wasted precious seconds fixing it.  As he hid behind cover fixing his weapon he heard the overhead voice.

"Player Blue Ten has been terminated."  It took Dohr a few seconds to register that Blue Ten was Heigren.  How the hell had he been killed?

Mika who had been running down the stairs, stopped in surprise at the message.  She'd seen Heigren only a few seconds before.  She'd handed him a rifle, slid down the ladder and had been rushing down stairs towards Sheila's position.  Now the Zeltron had somehow been killed.

Only Sheila had caught a glimpse of it.  She'd been firing ineffectually at the enemy on level 3.  He or she had ignored her and continued to fire at the assault teams.  A moment before the announcement she had seen a single shot from up high, either the tenth level or the roof shoot out.  Logic suggested the 10th floor sniper, not seeing Dohr had managed to shoot down Heigren.

**GAME CLOCK - 11 minutes remaining**

OOC: Assault Team 1 is only forty metres from the door and has yet to lose a team member.  They have taken cover behind the speeder.

Assault Team 2 is still behind their cover 80m from the enemy base.  They could cross the distance in two rounds.  AT1 could do it in one round.

Defence Team has Dohr and Sheila on level 1.  Dohr has just un-jammed his weapon and Sheila is still firing her pistol.  Mika is in the level 7 stairwell heading down towards Sheila.  Heigren is probably busy trying to chat up some simulation technician!

Re: Combat (Rounds 3-5)

Vyn is down? Who the hell… Maybe they have got another sniper on rooftop. Dohr had been contemplating whether he should order Vyn to come down to the tenth floor to pick up the rifle. But as it would have taken a lot more time than having K pass one to him, he’d decided against it. Better yet, he’d considered the Zeltron safe as no shots had been taken at him so far. Mistake number two. Then again, the mercs were supposed to be professionals and professionals knew how to take care of themselves without a babysitter telling them how to. No. He couldn’t take the blame for everything, but neither could he place it on Vyn for being shot. The man hadn’t been trained as soldier. And the enemy sniper… She (or he) was good. Anyone see what happened to Twelve?”, Dohr called on the comms.

The exercise had been quite a bit of fun for the Kel Dorian so far. Of course he was not happy about two of his teammates being out already, but once more he reminded himself it was only a game. The exchange of shots he’d had with his counterpart reminded Dohr of the games he had played with his friends as a child all those years ago. He hadn’t always won back then, but he was certainly going to come out on top this time unless weapon decided to jam again. But he was running out of shots fast. ”Three, cancel that firing order. With the reduced power your shots do not reach the building.” The call gave him an idea…

But he quickly decided against it. Running across the 1st floor to Sheila instead of moving to new a spot to take a shot had initially seemed like good idea. Staying away from the windows for a longer period would have made the opponent wonder what he was up to and a new angle might have given Dohr a better chance to hit her. But it would also have meant putting the ATs back into the sniper’s line of fire. With one target gone, the enemy sharpshooter would not waste time wondering, but would pick another one to aim at through her crosshairs instead. ”Three. I am almost out on the sniper rifle. While waiting for Ten, save your shots as I may need your pistol clip soon.”

Idaya’s call interrupted Dohr’s move to the next position. ”Affirmative. We have been sending love notes back and forth for a while already.” Not laughing at his weak joke, the doctor moved a bit further to get a better view and fired off another blast.

She leaps up and starts running.  If the door is any way barricaded she'll fire from the hip, not slowing and ram into it.  Somehow she doesn't think Devon's 'rock grenade' will help here.

Following Kyvarr once again in her charge, Devon eyed the approaching doorway to the enemy building.  If the enemy was waiting in defensive positions, the lobby would be a good place to do it... he, CC9 and Kyvarr would have to think on their feet once they were inside - if they got that far.

Combat (Rounds 6&7)

Kyvarr led the charge with Devon close on her heels.  B2-CC9 not built for high speed straggled behind.  The trio ran for the door which seemed so close yet so far.  Blaster fire poured around them as they covered the final distance.

Flash fired off a shot at the enemy repeater then ducked as Idaya took up the aim.  Unfortunately her gun jammed at that moment and the Assault Team was left without cover.  Flash spotted the problem and took up the defence but he could not stop a flurry of repeater bolts striking CC9, who was slower then the other two.

"Player Blue Three has been terminated."

Having made it inside the building, Kyvarr and Devon looked around, realising having made the building did not make them 'safe', far from it.  It took them a few moments to realise that their battle droid companion was no longer with them and that the lobby appeared deserted.

Back on the defense team, Dohr had managed to determine Heigren's assassin.  While he had not spotted them, he had seen single shots fire out from the enemy building roof.  There was clearly a well concealed sniper up there.  Whoever it was they were not rushing their shots, only taking a shot when it seemed they might hit.  Dohr had kept an eye on that one but continued to try and take out the sniper on the 10th floor whom he could actually see from time to time.

Mika continued to rush down the stairs, the rifle over her shoulder.  She'd covered two flights when the announcement had said another Talon had been killed.  Things weren't looking so good.

Sheila had ended her attempts to distract the enemy, conserving her ammo.  After another look at the open battlefield and seeing only friendlies, she moved to look out over the stairwell.  The moved saved her from what would have likely been certain death.  To her surprise, as she passed a corridor near the stairwell she saw three enemy mercs coming towards her.  Two immediately took cover in doorways, the point man, who already had his rifle at his shoulder snapped off a shot that missed Sheila by millimetres.  As Sheila reflexively ducked into cover she realised there were three men, two had rifles, one had a pistol.  How they had got inside the building when both stairwells AND the open ground was being watched was a mystery.

**GAME CLOCK - 10 minutes 48 seconds remaining**

OOC: Another Talon down.  This time our fearless battle droid.  On the bright side, the remainder of Assault Team 1 has made it to the temporary safety of the enemy lobby.  They seem safe for the moment.  Assault Team 2 is still under fire from the building, even more so now they are the only ones they can attack!

However a new problem has emerged.  Three mercs have just been spotted in the Talon's base on the first floor and are attacking Sheila!  Dohr wouldn't know about them yet, nor would he have line of sight (there are numerous rooms and corridors in this office block.  Mika is still on the stairs and if she keeps running will reach the first floor in round 9 (able to act in 10).

Well at least all 10 mercs are now accounted for!

Deploy your troops in the stairwell and slow the enemy down, if not taking a few of them out. It falls to your team to slow them down if not completely stop them from getting in to our base."

Re: Combat (Rounds 6&7)

Kyvarr again kept her surprise in check.  "Understood Three Zero.  Call out any position changes of the enemy if you see any.  Good luck."

She looked at Devon.  "Looks like we're clearing house.  We'll head up to level 2 and clear it.  Keep in cover.  I'll suppress any enemies with the repeater, you pick 'em off.  Lets have this place spotless for when Team 2 turns up."
