Question

hey myky I saw what you did for my Character sheet. Do you want me to go through and choose the feats and place skill points or where you planning on doing that? by the way I don't have access to any books right both in RL (real life) and online so I can't place skill points effecttively. I did read the feats though and it sounds like its all on the right track. I want the both necro presence feats that buff my undead warriors. I want that undead leadership feat. Also want the instant light wounds and the feat that allows me to use heal my self with negative energy. Hope I didn't pick too many let me know how that comes out. I think I can check back here later or tomorrow.

Actually purple is my texting colour so maybe we'll have to fight over it. If you are human you would have four feats by 6th level. If Wizard is one of your classes you would get a bonus wizard feat at level 5 so if you are human or wizard you would be able to get those 4 feats. If you are both you would have another feat as well(1st level, bonus feat for being human, 3rd level, bonus wizard feat and 6th level). If you tell me you class and level i have a little more time than myky now plus i have internet at home i could polish off the character for you just tell me where myky put the original and give me some guidelines and ill do it tonight.

Guys my workload has tripled over the last two weeks. I had hoped to be able to actually do something today but I was wrong. I plan on going over to scotty sometime tomorrow so that I can get the game moving and stuff.

Kayode: I actually wanted you to choose the skills you want and stuff. I'll compile a list of everything you need to choose and what your options are and shit. You can find all the info from the three main books at these sites. The first one has info from the three core books and the Psionics handbook. The second one has only has the three.

What do we do next.

Hello there fellow players. This is Lewis. For those of you who did not know, I am one of the DM Kindred. Now here is the deal. I want this game to work as I do not know when I will be coming back to Jamaica. In terms of that, I need to know what it is that you want from this game, and would like to see in the game. At the moment a common storyline is in play. PCs save the world type deal is what is happening now. There will be a few skirmishes coming your way and you will be given the opportunity to handle them as you see fit. After that we will see....

I also want to add environmental features, like rain and snow and the sort. Not sure how that will go, but please do keep me informed as to what you like or don't like.

Kayode is in Jamaica now. Is it possible for one of you to help him complete his character. Thank you that would be much appreciated. Also can someone contact Taebo and ask him if he will be playing, and if so when. Right now Diana is doing exams and so won't be able to play or learn the system for a little while to come. I will tell her that you all wish her the best. I am truly sorry to hear that Max is unable to join us for this wild ride, that between Myky and myself, we are DMing. It would have been nice to have the whole group together again for some PG.

Myky I will no longer be working on Redblade. Dawg it will take too long to complete. I think I will be focusing on just DMing this game. At any point in time that you would like to play, please fell free to ask me to DM.

Sup niggaz, I fucking posted my new character in the Concepts thread so take a look see. Now I don’t mind if my current one gets maul by the frost giants and if he lives, well I'll have me a new NPC killa for you punks ha ha ha... sorry about that.

What I really want is for some to look at it and tell me what they think. That is Magi, some of you may know that name if you have read my short story. I'll post all the characters I make here. Most of the characters I will be making will be for my short stories so your input will be appreciated.

Yow guys remind to make a game where everyone is Warforged. I was thinking that you could maybe make the Character and post in Concpets and I could use those as characters in the Story.

And then we could use them to adventure in the moun lands trying to figure out who fucked over cyre.

And then we would go find them and fuck them over.

Alright guys, since we are all busy at the moment and I would like this to start moving onwards in terms of storyline, I am going to summarize the fight based on what I have seen happening in the other encounters as well as play style to this point. Sorry for the inconvienience caused by the summary. I believe whether we run or fight we still get the XP. As such I will post the relevant XP in the XP thread. Correct any mistakes that are made please. Scotty I see on your character sheet that you have not added the XP from killing the orc. That was so because I had not posted how much you got. Sup Niggazzz; I've been throwing some ideas around in my head about what makes a good D20 Modern game. Now I have found stuff on Resident evil which looks promising, nothing like a good Zombie-shoot-em-up.

But then I found the Halo D20 http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=50937. So its up to you guys now what you want to do.

I could always make a Homebrew game to your specifications as well, just no mutants.

Story:
I was created 4 years ago in Metrol by the Scions of House Cannith. I was designed and created for the Cryian army. They wanted Waforged capable of supporting other Warforged units; namely with repairing and "buffing" their abilities. I was also designed to locate and neutralize enemy spellcasters. I was placed in an all 'Forged unit as a result. I fought with my unit for well over a year and we were victorious in every engagement we were involved in. In time we were sent to hold the eastern front from for the Kaarnathi. My unit was utterly destroyed on assignment. Only a handful of us managed to survive. The war ended soon after that and we were given our independence. I have been wondering the Khovaire ever since.

 I was created 3 years ago in Metrol. The Scions of house Cannith were perfecting a new design at the time, one that would allow Warforged to draw on their inner power and unleash devastating spells, much like a flesh and blood sorceror. But where they could unleash and wide variety of magic, we can only manifest spells meant for destruction and war. I was placed in a elite unit of Warforged in the Cyrian army, but on my first assingment, my unit was decimated. Only myself and two others made it out alive, mostly because the Artificer kept us whole, while I blasted anything that moved and the other cut huge swaths through the enemy lines so that we could win free. The war ended soon after that as Cyre was destroyed on the day of Mourning and we were given our independence. I have been wondering the Khovaire with my comrades ever since.

All the info we had were from PDF files if I remember correctly. Check to see if you have a CD marked DnD stuff or something. It should be on that or on your Lap top. If not; you are screwed :(

I think I will be going out on the road and buying the Tome of Magic so that I can build an ogre mage shadowmage. I was reading the Eberron main book and it suggests that PCs stay away from playing Dragons in Eberron. So I will be staying away from that. I will send the ogre mage character for you Myky. I would like to have a DM for the character, but not laying this out for Myky alone. I not sure who else among us has access to RPOL or who else actually comes here, but its just a throw out there. Tailas rode easily through the jungle, his cloak billowing behind him as Dawn thundered down the ancient road. By sheer luck he had come across it while traveling through the jungles of Q’barra. The road was wide, easily 30 feet across, made from stone and overgrown with patches of grass and small bushes. The trees grew thick on either side, emitting the strange calls of jungle wildlife. Tailas rode as if he were born in the saddle; both the horse and rider were perfectly relaxed as they raced to their destination. Dawn’s long legs effortlessly flew over the ground as she raced on faster than a Vadalis Magebred mount. The steeds of the Valenar are peerless horses on the face Eberron and Dawn was better than most. Most Valenar elves use riding horses, albeit trained for battle. Dawn was a true Warhorse bred and trained by the Valenar Siyal Marrain (Horse Watchers), and she was bonded to Tailas in a way few outsiders could understand. To put it simply; the elf and the horse were one.

Tailas was a mercenary who had turned his back on his people after the war leader Shaeras Vadallia betrayed Queen Mishann of Cyre and formed the realm of the Valenar on Khorvaire. Before that dark day, Tailas had been a Calvary Charger in the Tairnadal Army that had answered Queen Mishann's call for aid. He had fought honorably alongside the Cyrians for over 40 years before the betrayal and that dishonorable act forced him to make a decision; stay on Khorvaire and hail Shaeras Vadallia as his king or return to Aerenal forever. At first Tailas had planned to stay in Cyre, but the day of mourning changed that. So he decided to tour the continent of Khovaire for a few decades before going back to Aerenal. He had been on this continent for over four decades but all he had seen was ruin and war. Now he planned to see what else the humans had to offer.

So he set out on a quest to do just that; see the sights and meet the people. It had been an enlightening journey so far with the usual ups and downs; a comely wench here, brigands to deal with there, but all and in all Tailas was glad he stayed. He lived in the saddle and meditated under the stars when he needed rest. He earned money with his sword and bow. He lived off the land for he was an excellent hunter. It was a good life and one he found he liked very much. The Tairnadal were highly disciplined Elven warriors who lived a regimented militaristic lifestyle. It was refreshing to be able to choose where he would go and what he would do without having to report to anyone but himself. Never the less, everything he did was to glorify his ancestor and bring honor to the Tairnadal, for he did not consider himself Valenar, as he would not call Vadallia king.

As he sped through the trees, he pondered the new direction his life had taken. Before that faithful day, Tailas was proud of his heritage as a Valenar Elf for they were fierce and honorable warriors without equal on Khorvairian soil. If not for their relatively small population they could have ended the last war by conquering the continent themselves. Tailas had no problems with that, what upset him was the manner in which Vadallia had seceded the southern portion of Cyre during the last war. It would not surprise Tailas to find that Vadallia’s actions had ultimately doomed the country and set in motion the events that led to the day of Mourning where Cyre was utterly destroyed in a horrific display of arcane might. Now he wanted nothing to do with Vadallia and the Valenar that followed him, for in his eyes they had lost all honor.

Without warning Tailas pulled hard on Dawn’s reins to stop her in her tracks. She reared and whinnied angrily but stilled as soon as her front hooves hit the ancient pavement.

[Elven]“Did you hear that girl?” Tai asked her not really expecting an answer. He stayed motionless for a moment and listened… there! A faint scream drifted on the wind from the east, there was a slight thumping sound as well, might be drums. Then he heard it again, clearer this time, a scream so filled with torment that it made his blood run cold. “It sounds like someone is being tortured or worse. We can’t have that now can we Dawn.”

He wheeled Dawn eastward without a second thought and galloped into the Jungle. The going was much slower now and he frequently stopped to listen, using the sounds of the drumming to guide him. The screams abruptly stopped after a few minutes and so too did the drumming. But it was replaced by the sounds of battle; metal striking metal and the indistinct shouts of warriors on a battlefield. This too ended after a minute or so but he had his bearings by that time and made his way forward cautiously to investigate the matter.

He was greeted by a strange sight a few moments later when he came upon a Warforged battling a macabre construct. There was also a dead Half-Orc (not sure if carve is still alive) on the ground nearby. He watched the battle only for a moment and then decided that the macabre construct was in the wrong as well as being deadlier opponent. Good, it had been a while since he faced a challenge. Without another thought Tai draws his morningstar and charges forward with an undulating war cry...

What do I do?

Big man I was just reading the PHB2 and want to use a variant in that book. That means that Kyr has no familiar. So can we just call the familiar quits? And also if i wanted to create epic spell, that require money should I take it out of my 2.5 million for being a lvl 26 character?

Can an unarmored warforged be imbued with the special abilities for armor? For exmaple Greater Shadow and Greater Silent Moves. I am building a Warforged Fighter-Ninja. Of course the level is 26. I am making him as more a swordsman using a katana. (Going back to my roots. :-)) The character will also be a shadowdancer (I like the whole moving thru the shadows bit).

At work now. Whats new in life son? As you can see in the character development and concepts, I am building a new character. A warforged fighter-ninja-shadowdancer, forged by the living forge. He uses a Katana that is connected to his left hand by the sheathe (in other words the scabbard is attached by a chain to his left hand). If you like you can watch the character take shape as I go. But I will be at work until 2345. Post here if anything. Latahz.

Action Points
Action points give character the means to affect game play in significant ways, by improving important rolls or unlocking special abilities. Each character has a limited number of action points, and once an action point is spent, it is gone for good.

Metagame Analysis: Action Points
Action points give players some control over poor die rolls. Although this has little effect in an average encounter, it makes it a little more likely that characters will survive extremely challenging encounters and less likely that a single character will fall to what would otherwise be a balanced foe because of bad luck. A reserve of action points lets even careful players expose their characters to more risks, heightening the game’s tension and opening the door to even more heroic action. This variant also makes it less likely that an entire adventuring group will fall victim to one powerful effect, such as circle of death or cloudkill.

Action points also make it more likely that the use of a character’s most potent abilities will be successful. For example, although its overall effect on an encounter might be minimal, few things frustrate a paladin more than missing with a smite attack—an event that becomes less likely when using action points.

That said, action points can also lead characters to routinely get in over their heads (relying on action points to save themselves), and for GMs to unconsciously increase the difficulty of encounters (since characters are more likely to succeed against foes of equal power). This is as fine as long as the characters have a reserve of such points to spend—but if they run out, encounters that would otherwise be merely challenging can become incredibly deadly. Keep the number of action points available to your characters in mind when designing encounters.

For GMs who are worried that action points increase the power level of characters without an offsetting cost, there’s an easy solution. Just think of each action point as a one-use magic item with a broad range of possible effects. With that analogy, it becomes easy to justify reducing the amount of treasure awarded to balance out the accrual of action points. Note that this is merely a tool for GMs interested in carefully monitoring character power levels; action points should never be for sale.

An action point is roughly equivalent to a magic item worth 100 gp per character level (since the higher a character’s level, the more potent the effect).

Acquiring Action Points
A beginning (1st-level) character starts the game with 5 action points. A character above 1st level starts the game with a number of action points equal to 5 + 1/2 his current character level.

Every time a character advances, he gains a number of action points equal to 5 + 1/2 his new character level. Some prestige classes might allow a faster rate of accrual, at the GM’s option.

Action Points and Existing Games
Adding action points to an existing campaign is easy, since characters don’t need to make any special changes. Each character simply gains a number of action points equal to 5 + 1/2 his character level.

NPCs and Action Points
Most NPCs probably shouldn’t have action points, due to the added complexity this would create. In the case of important villains or other significant characters, however, the GM may award them an appropriate number of action points to use against the player characters. A number of action points equal to 1/2 the NPC’s level is a good baseline.

Using Action Points
You can spend 1 action point either to add to a single d20 roll, to take a special action, or to improve the use of a feat.

You can spend 1 action point in a round. If you spend a point to use a special action (see below), you can’t spend another one in the same round to improve a die roll, and vice versa.

You can’t use an action point to alter the result of a d20 roll when you are taking 10 or taking 20.

Depending on character level (see table), a character might be able to roll more than one d6 when he spends 1 action point. If so, apply the highest result and disregard the other rolls. A 15th-level character, for instance, gets to roll 3d6 and take the best result of the three. So, if he rolled a 1, 2, and 4, he would apply the 4 to his d20 roll.

Special Actions
A character can perform certain tasks by spending an action point. In addition to the actions described below, some prestige classes or feats (see below) might allow the expenditure of action points in order to gain or activate specific abilities, at the GM’s option.

Activate Class Ability
A character can spend 1 action point to gain another use of a class ability that has a limited number of uses per day. For example, a monk might spend an action point to gain another use of her stunning fist ability, or a paladin might spend an action point to make an additional smite attack.

Boost Defense
A character can spend 1 action point as a free action when fighting defensively. This gives him double the normal benefits for fighting defensively for the entire round (+4 dodge bonus to AC; +6 if he has 5 or more ranks in Tumble).

Emulate Feat
At the beginning of a character’s turn, he may spend 1 action point as a free action to gain the benefit of a feat he doesn’t have. He must meet the prerequisites of the feat. He gains the benefit until the beginning of his next turn.

Extra attack
During any round in which a character takes a full attack action, he may spend 1 action point to make an extra attack at his highest base attack bonus. Action points may be used in this way with both melee and ranged attacks.

Spell Boost
A character can spend 1 action point as a free action to increase the effective caster level of one of his spells by 2. He must decide whether or not to spend an action point in this manner before casting the spell.

Spell Recall
Spellcasters who prepare their spells in advance can spend 1 action point to recall any spell just cast. The spell can be cast again later with no effect on other prepared spells. This use of an action point is a free action and can only be done in the same round that the spell is cast. Spontaneous spellcasters such as sorcerers and bards can spend 1 action point to cast a spell without using one of their daily spell slots. This use of an action point is a free action and can only be done as the spell is being cast.

Stable
Any time a character is dying, he can spend 1 action point to become stable at his current hit point total.

Improving Feats
The use of action points opens up a whole range of possible feats. However, it’s easier on characters simply to improve existing feats to take advantage of action points—that way, characters needn’t spend their precious feat slots simply to gain the ability to use their action points. Below are a few examples of how action points can be used with existing feats. Unless otherwise stated, each effect requires a free action to activate and lasts 1 round.

Blind-Fight
You can spend 1 action point to negate your miss chance for a single attack.

Combat Expertise
You can spend 1 action point to double the bonus to Armor Class granted by the feat. For example, if you take a penalty of -3 on your attack roll, you gain a +6 dodge bonus to AC.

Dodge
You can spend 1 action point to increase the dodge bonus granted by the feat to +2. The effect lasts for the entire encounter.

Improved Critical
You can spend 1 action point to double your critical threat range. Since two doublings equals a tripling, this benefit increases your threat range from 19-20 to 18-20, from 17-20 to 15-20, or from 15-20 to 12-20, including the effect of your Improved Critical feat. This benefit stacks with the benefit from Improved Critical, but not with other effects that increase threat range.

Improved Initiative
You can spend 1 action point to double the bonus on initiative checks granted by the feat, from +4 to +8.

Metamagic Feats
You can spend 1 action point to add the effect of any one metamagic feat that you have to a spell you are casting. The spell is cast at its normal level (without any level adjustment because of the feat) and takes no extra time to cast.

Heighten Spell automatically raises a spell’s effective level to the highest level of spell you are capable of casting. For example, if a 7th-level wizard with the Heighten Spell feat casts burning hands and spends 1 action point to heighten the spell, the spell is treated as if it were a 4th-level spell in all respects even though the wizard prepared it normally (as a 1st-level spell).

Power Attack
You can spend 1 action point to double the bonus on damage rolls granted by the feat. For example, if you take a penalty of -3 on your attack roll, you add +6 to your damage roll.

Spell Focus
You can spend 1 action point to double the increase to save DCs granted by the feat, from +1 to +2.

Spell Penetration
You can spend 1 action point to double the bonus on caster level checks granted by the feat, from +2 to +4. The effect lasts for the entire encounter.

A couple of the players I wanted to invite aren't logging on anymore so it might be us four for now. Because of that I am going mnake the game Gestalt to fill the gaps.

Good news, I have a PC at home now but it still needs some work and I still ahve to get an internet connection. I should have that sorted out early next year. Until then, I can post at work so its all good.

I should have this game started by next week Tuesday.

So great GM what are we working with? 36,000 or 60,000? I munchkin you FRET, so I want 60,000. I have made the 9th lvl version of my epic Katan using the starting gold of 60,000. If I have I will modify it for 36,000.

Myky the Katan character would like to obtain some magic items. I am willing to go adventuring for the items. I will be following the progression of the epic lvl katan to progress with the lvl 9 Katan. I plan to make money to buy the items. Tell me if this is possible in your game.

The eberron group I was inviting is an interesting bunch of players. they are fun. the only problem is that they may not want to play a gestalt game.  - Campaign Year 1000 YK
 - The Draconic prophecy has been revealed in full for two years now; it states that Wyrms are destined to rule the lesser races of Eberron lest they destroy the world. Events like the Last War proves the Dragons are unto something…. or are they?
 - The Dragons have launched a campaign, they learned from their mistakes and used espionage and economy to weaken their foes before attacking. They actually coerced the Scions of Whats-his-face to start the last war and thus weaken Khorvaire severely.
 - Few people know about what is going on, you are one of those few.

Good stuff. If all this is still a go it might help develop some background for our PCs.

Bare with me, I'm just getting started on my guy. I'm looking to go 9 lvls of Soulknife with some Kensai and Pyrokineticist or something. I may look at a more movement based PRC though.

A DM in a game I play is using this option.

Speaker for the Tale:
As for combat and dice... I will sometimes start a fight and let you use the dice to get a feel for how things would work out and then run the rest with roleplay.  In more important confrontations or more uncertain ones, it will probably be run by the books.  This will keep from dragging fights on forever except when they are actually dramatic and require strategy.

I saw that one too. I wish it was lower level because it would be more fitting. I'm not a huge fan of starting higher level and was hoping to only do this one at 9th.

Granted, I wish our Eberron mercenaries one would get the hell going. I like our characters there.

I'm still figuring out my shit. Min/maxing a 9th lvl PC takes a bit longer.

I think I will play a human psion gestalted with dread pirate. What class are you thinking of? I am a little busy at work. I will post in the arena soon. The ring of blades is a nice trick. I am wondering if using a reach weapon would be better than a true melee weapon? What do you guys think? If I used a reach weapon, it would be a scorpion chain. Is that munchkin?

I created a new sign called bambolou just so I could play the game as a player and not a GM. So the new guy called bambolou is me using the same Katan character.

Ok but I am waiting for him to come to me. I also want that ring of blades spell to dissipatate. Scotty made me think about changing my main weapon to a scorpion chain for situations like this where I cannot get to the enemy. The scorpion chain with me being large would give me a 20ft reach. What do you think?

Dude you want me to come to you? Lets think about this. My character specialises in range attack spells. Kind of like an Archer but using spells. Besides I can stay where I am and hit you with lightning bolts all day! :P But funnily enough I am moving towards you now. By the way dude The ring of blades spell is 1 Minute per level. I have like 80 something rounds left. You aren't gonna be alive long enough for the spell duration to run out.

Ok I didn't know that. But most people keep a secondary weapon just in case. If you use piercing weapons and end up fighting skeletons for example.

Gonna play a shifter druid, not sure of what the other class is gonna be. Maybe druid-barbarian, or druid-ranger or druid-scout to start, though that one makes the least sense with regards to what I want the character to be like. Ok thats it; we start this weekend and I mean we start even if I have to post the NPCs interacting with each other.

I like the Arena fights as it will give yo a chance to get to know what you're character is capable of so I suggest that you all fight each other for time being. Plus it will allow me to run the less important fights with roleplay and save us some time and effort.

It will also keep you busy when posting is slow.

Tae showed up and then disappeared, I will have to tie him in when he returns, Max and Puffy too. For now it will be the three of you.

Oh this game name Eberron - Q'barran Jungles - DnD 3.5, I been playing in for a while now. But the Dm recently fucked over my Valenar Elf man, that Elf be dead! Like I need a true ressurection or miracle to not be dead and we be level 7 meng, so you know thats not happening anytime soon. Enter the new guy, I never played a Kalashtar before so I figured "why the hell not", I always wanted to use a Psi-blade ever since our X-men days when I "fell in love" with Psilocke, that Ninja Psi-blade wielding chic. Dude, how can an assassin not be evil? The only other alignments I can see having that class would be either CN, or N. And even then it's a stretch for the true neutral.

nah. We're 9th level, which means a lot of min/maxing but you still have to stay true to your concept. That's where I'm losing my PC. There are so many stats and skills and gold pieces to spend that I've been concetrating on that, rather than a heroic character that will be battling the mighty Dragons of Eberron.

BTW, has anyone seen the Teflamar Shadowlord PRC in Unnaproachable East. You get a free Full Attack after you teleport. Abusive. Move Action-Shadow Walk>Full attack, 2nd action in turn = Move Action (coz you can take 2)-Shadow Walk/Dimension Door/etc...>full attack. Psychic Warrior can Hustle and get a 3rd move action. good lord.

The Shadpwdnacer PrC has the shadow walk ability, but you cannot take an action in the same round. And you say that the shadowlord PrC can make attacks after the shadow walk? Well well.

Ok. Let me explain the concept. Katan is known for his use of 1 weapon, the katana at the outset of the creation of the character but now it is the scorpion chain. When I was building the character I was playing around with 2 ideas; a character named Noose who used the chain or a character named Katan who used the katana. Now swords are pretty common in games so after the fight with you in the arena I decided that:

1) I would like a melee weapon that I could apply my DEX bonus to
2) A reach weapon keeps me away from my opponents, covering in a very basic way a range and melee weapon, in terms of its usage

Now as an underlying concept, Katan is a character of stealth. I wanted to make a stealthy character that could take hits as well, hence the warforged fighter. His increased size to large gives him a disadvantage when being stealthy. You know me Scotty, I like to have a character with "flaws". The large size also gives me more reach with the chain.

In terms of the Shadowdancer PrC and the Shadowlord PrC, I was using them as a means of "moving", utilizing the Shadow jump from Shadowdancer. I had a problem with the whole not being able to use any actions after the Shadow jump, which is why I jumped to the idea of a Shadowlord who would be able to attack after a shadow jump. So the Shadowlord does not really interfere with the Katan concept.

A full epic version of Katan is posted in the Character Concepts and Development Thread, with the modifications of the scorpion chain. Each level indicated in that post is the progression I plan to take until Katan gets to level 26. After that I will be looking into taking levels of artificer, shadowblade and shadowlord after I look at that class in more detail. Take a look at it.

Any suggestions and comments on the character are welcomed and appreciated.

Myky ain't at work today so I don't know if youll get an answer but I don't see the problem. Only one thing, don't say 4 companions just say a few because we don't know that all those guys will be playing. Max I won't hold my breath for. He ghas never played on rpol really except when we just started like 3 years ago. Then he lasted only a couple weeks. Puffy I'm not sure about and Taebo doesn't get on often enough top be a surety either.

I have the Pimsleur lessons and, man, Russian seems a lot harder than Japanese. My sister tells me that it's tough because just a slight variation in your vowel sound can change the tense of a word. I knew it was going to a challenge when the 1st lesson tells you that "this is a sound not made in the English language".

I downloaded the Night Watch movies a while ago. Well, the first a couple years ago, Day Watch this last year. I'll learn enough to get by on the basics. Need the jack to actually travel over there first. Illustration isn't really the highest paying gig you could find.

Nope. I think we should concentrate on the Prophecy game because its the same campaign.

Lewis I need a 10th level Drow Shadowcaster but I havent had time to make it can you hook me up. Also choose a good PrC for it. I am thinking a Drow that uses darkness to kill, the Ultimate Drow assassin. So choose those things (spell like ability shadow shits I forget what they are called.) And I memember a PrC that gives you a Shadow Elemental Familiar, I like that one.

...um, as far as I'm concerned, it could be both. The notes and background info or whatnot that's lying around, doesn't make it into the novel, or is not fleshed out fully (based on the requirements of the novel) should be more than enough to put together the setting framework. However, everything is in VERY early stages right now, and it all depends on what my co-author, and head of the project, believes. But for me, I don't see why not, one lends itself to the other.

Feral
Feral is the most popular druid leveling build, mostly due to low downtimes. This is a list of talents to choose while leveling in order, and why to choose them.

Ferocity 5/5
Essential talent. Reducing the cost of skills means you can use them more, which means increased DPS and therefore into faster leveling.
Brutal Impact 2/2
Can get you out of sticky situations by giving you extra time to heal or flee. Fewer deaths = Faster leveling!
Feral Instinct 3/3
The stealth bonus makes it easier to get to quest objectives more quickly. The threat increase is useful for tanking, especially in early instances.
Feral Swiftness 2/2
Faster movement speed means faster leveling!
Furor 5/5
Having 40 energy when you shift into cat form means you can immediately use an ability. Having 10 rage when shifting into bear form means you can immediately use Bash. Both of these mean higher survivability and lower down time.
Sharpened Claws 3/3
A big increase to crit change means increased DPS, which translates to faster leveling.
Primal Fury 2/2
2 combo points every time you crit with abilities that combo point abilities is excellent; finishing moves come much more quickly. The rage bonus makes endless Swipes possible, which is both good for tanking and killing multiple mobs at the same time.
Feral Charge 1/1
Useful as an interrupt and a way of preventing fleeing mobs from aggroing the ones around them.
Predatory Strikes 3/3
May not be a big attack power increase early on, but it's still something, and it's a requirement for one of the best Feral talents, so it's a must have.
Faerie Fire (Feral) 1/1
It's good, it's ranged, it's free from all costs. GREAT.
Shredding Attacks 1/2
At this point you're level 36 and have gotten Pounce. Taking this means you can open with: Pounce, Faerie Fire (Feral), (tick), Rake, (tick), Shred, which gets you three combo points before you've taken a hit. We'll take the other point in this when we get Mangle and replace Rake in this sequence.
Savage Fury 2/2
Straight DPS increase for faster leveling.
Heart of the Wild 5/5
One of the best talents in the feral tree. Good for both tanking, dpsing and solo leveling, at the same time! MUST HAVE!
Leader of the Pack 1/1
One point for 5% crit is great, plus your ranged and melee party members will thank you.
At this point you need 9 more points in the Feral tree to get Mangle. Make sure to get that last point in Shredding Attacks along the way. It may be worthwhile to respec at 50 for Mangle, then re-acquire Furor for the next five levels. At this point it's useful to pick up Naturalist and Omen of Clarity.

You know, I would really like to. It's been a while. I might do some reworking though as it would possibly be only you and Hugh. Pat/Cytiss would be the only other one to play. The other two are out for sure.

Mainly it's about time for me. Between my IT job and art projects (I've had a ton of full color work for the L5R card game), plus having moved in with my girlfriend, there hasn't been a ton of writing time. I have plans though and the Shalanzai story is something I would like to incorporate into that future novel dream that I, along with every other DND player has=)

I hear that, I would love to play even if it means posting once a month. As to the project, I would recommend that you keep that dream alive; the difference between dreaming and doing is... well doing lol.

I recently moved out too and once I have PC moved which should be very, very soon, like today or tomorrow if-I-can-help-it-soon; I plan to do just that.

I’m glad to hear that you still have art gigs, your artwork rocks! But in any case you let me know what’s up and I will definitely work with it.

Guards do not kill other Guards very often and when they do it is by hanging. Treason is the only reason Guards are hung and lying on the border is treason. Even a small lie could endanger lives and it simply was not tolerated. Besides only cowards lie.

I'm actually a Scorpion fan myself but all the posters I found had the Crab. I have been scouring the net looking for good L5R art, but all I can find are the CCG pics and I don’t necessarily want CCG stats on my Scorpion Pics. Not feeling that at all.

With Jamaica's murder toll spiralling past the 1,600 mark, a recent study has shown that close to 300,000 Jamaicans are arming themselves with protective devices, especially sharp implements.

According to the Health and Lifestyle Survey II (2007-2008) one in 10 Jamaicans carry a sharp implement such as a knife, with more men carrying protective weapons than women.

The study also showed that these implements are being used to injure and even kill at times with just about 10 per cent of the population reported having witnessed a stabbing incident most frequently, followed by a shooting incident and then domestic disputes.

"Shooting was witnessed more by females, while more males witnessed stabbings," Damian Francis, research group member, said as he presented the injuries component of the survey recently.
Statistics from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) show that over 170 people were stabbed to death since the beginning of the year. That same data also cites the knife as the second most common weapon used to carry out murders. The gun is the first.
The study, which surveyed 2,848 people between the ages of 15 and 74, said nine per cent of the population reported having serious injuries. It also revealed that 30 per cent of serious injuries in the past year required hospitalisation.

"These injuries represent the largest preventable cause of use of the health care service and therefore present a problem," Francis said. "Violence-related injuries are now the third major cause of death in Jamaica and account for 10 per cent of mortality worldwide. According to the Jamaica injury surveillance system, 52 per cent of injuries reported in 1999 to 2000 were violence-related and 15 per cent motor-vehicle related."

At the same time, Francis said unintentional injuries occurred more frequently among males than females and more frequently among the 25-44 age group.

"Twelve per cent of Jamaicans reported having a serious injury in the past five years and eight per cent reported a serious injury in the past year," he said. "Serious injury in the past five years and serious injury in the past year was more frequent among males than females."

Meantime, the study showed that less than two per cent of the population said they participated in a violent act, with more male perpetrators than females. Seventy-three per cent of persons who had participated in a violent act reported that this was a fight, followed by domestic disputes at 24 per cent.

Ironically, only two per cent of Jamaicans reported that they considered their community dangerous and the majority, 67 per cent, considered their community to be safe.

Ok, minor points out of the way.

As with all first drafts, needs editing for grammar and some points of spelling.

Moving on from that...

The sentences and flow are abrupt. They seem to stop in mid thought, pick up in mid thought and the transference from sentence to sentence is abrupt. Don't be so literal when describing items from the setting rules, such as the belt of giant strength, or talking about Wondrous Items or whatnot. This takes the reader out of the story, reminding them that they ARE reading a piece set in a pre-conceived game world for which printed rules exist, instead of pulling them in deeper. Suckage. Same with the Kundarak vaults, as well as fixing that sentence to explain why they were so special.

LOVE the way you explain his nickname, very slick.

Avoid using adverbs, words that end in -ly. They are adverbs of manner, and pepper the works of inadequate authors who can't/won't let their writing get the sense/manner intended across.

clearly you were writing this in haste, you skip some character actions and entire chunks of sentences. Not a criticism, just noting it.

'They were a motley crew of disparate souls.' I get what you are saying here, but the two adjectives give separate ideas about the group that clashes in my mind, they're both dominant, where I think one should be dominant and one enhancing.

Okay, flow. Your ideas come across all jumbled up with each other. Example: 'Three humans were seated in the black settees that were strewn about the room creating an orderly and pleasing décor.' This is a lesser example, as this actually manages to flow into the next few sentences about the Aberrant dragon marks, very nice, and then the description of the humans. You need to separate these ideas, in that set the scene then let your characters inhabit them. If you were trying to set the scene and the characters as you go, a little more nuance is needed.

'They were all carried an Aberrant mark, each with (a) different ability that would leave their prey dead or worse.' - Love that sentence, says what it needs to say in style and moves on.

'He gestured with his right hand and a Spyglass appeared out of thin air in his fist.'

or

He gestured and a spyglass appeared in his hand. DnD and all these books teach us about fluff. All the reading I've done encourages concision. ;)

He put it to his eye to get a closer look at the ship they were about to rob. The name emblazoned on the side was “White Swan” and indeed it was white with a Swan’s head at the prow and stylized upswept wings at the sides, doubling as the support of the bound fire elemental that ringed the ship to provide locomotion.

TOO MUCH IN THESE TWO SENTENCES. CLOGGED WITH INFO, REVISE PLEASE. Thank you. Spread it out, work it into the ongoing descriptions or rework these two sentences.

Aeden is the elf one minute, Aeden the next.

Again, ideas jumbled together in the last paragraph.

I like the crew, and the clear set up for high flying hijinks that are sure to ensue. I like skip, though his mother is a bit stereotypical. I like the little we see of his uncle as well and his character. It has a lot of potential, can't wait to see the characters interact, particularly the goblins and the bugbear. All in all I like it, please finish it and send it on once it's done.

HISTORY / BACKGROUND
- As the only child of a gunsmith Kerin grew up as quite the tom boy she was always
facinated with her fathers work and from an early age would sit with her father and
eagerly get him to try to teach her his craft. When she hit puberty her facination
with guns developed further and she convinced her father to teach her to shoot.
Once he had shown her the basics she quickly eclipsed him in skill and it was
rumoured that she once shot the wings off a fly without killing the tiny creature.
As she matured further her strange abilities began to manifest through her gun play.
Fearing for the safety of his daughter in the rural superstitious little village
Her father used his savings to equip Kerin for the road so she would be as safe as possible
and presented her with his finest pistol that they had recently worked on together.
Kerin left the village to become a gun for hire hoping to earn her fortune and develop her skills
so that one day she could own the one thing she desired most, a legendary Magelock pistol.

- I dont know if it would fit into the story but I would like to see dark reflections

A sobering experience
I'm usually pretty thorough as a DM when it comes to world building, but some NPC's you kind of invent on the spot.

Once, while DMing a long campaign, I accidentally gave two bartenders the same first name.

"Wasn't the bartender in the LAST town named Caleb?"

I knew I'd stepped in it, and I knew that these players weren't going to let me live it down anytime soon. So I did the only logical thing I could do as a DM: I improvised.

"All bartenders in this area have the first name of Caleb." I stated as a matter of fact.

Then I started to spin a backstory so crazy that it had to be true.

"It's a tradition, you see,  that all apprentice tavern keepers take on the first name Caleb and give up their surname. A symbolic gesture of dedicating their lives to the craft. After their apprenticeship ends, they set out in search of adventure and hopefully one day can earn enough gold and respect to find a community in need of their services and open their own bar. Only then can they choose their own surname, which will also be the name of their tavern."

"THIS particular Caleb," I told them "was just ending his apprenticeship and looking for adventure."

My players were so enthralled with the idea that they asked if they could take on Caleb as a party NPC and aid him on his quest. Caleb joined my group on several adventures and eventually earned enough gold to create the Stoutwarden Inn, my party's new base of operations.

That was an old character from a previous game. I was thinking about finding a game myself, as I re-reading the series now that its finally done. I'll let you know if I find anything promising.

Myky read below. This reminds me of something you would do.

I ran a campaign for my best friend and my little brother once. My friend was a clever Ranger/Cleric and acted as the brains of their operation. My brother was an Orc Barbarian who provided the muscles.

Partway into the campaign they got their hands on a Bag of Holding; you know, bigger on the inside, standard adventurer gear. Only they put it to some rather nonstandard uses. The Ranger would often sneak into restricted areas using a Hat of Disguise with the bag on his hip and the hulking Orc hiding inside. As long the Orc found time to get a breath of air every ten minutes he was fine. They bought some wood furniture and actually built an interrogation room inside of the Bag of Holding. Whenever the Ranger ran into someone he thought might know something important (or just wanted out of the way) he'd say,

"Embrace the darkness!"

This would signal the Orc to reach out of the bag with his beefy arms and forcibly yank the unsuspecting victim inside with him. There he would commence ‘interrogation’ with all the subtlety an Orc Barbarian could muster. Needless to say, not many of the kidnapped survived questioning.

The duo’s final mission was to infiltrate the King's palace, which had been secretly taken over by a crafty Necromancer. They managed to sneak in their usual way, with the Orc hiding snugly in their bag of holding. Soon they ran into two of the King's councilors, alone in a dim and empty hallway off the beaten path. The Ranger sized up their frail, old, and pale bodies and quickly decided they had interrogation potential! He casually struck up a conversation and quicker than you could say "grapple check" he had given the signal and the Orc gleefully pulled in the surprised councilors into the bag.

At home in his dimly lit interrogation chamber, the Orc took one of the councilors by the shoulder with his meaty hand. The councilor looked at his companion, shrugged, and sunk his teeth into the Orc’s hand. Shortly after that he realized that he had managed to trap himself in an enclosed space with two extremely thirsty vampires. Vampires who were also very good at grappling, and eager to show my brother their own "Dark Embrace."

The moral of the story: if a sneaky tactic is working out for your party and you start abusing it, then the DM will inevitably use it to screw you over.

Too funny.

Before I share this Tale, I should point out that we were actually trying to help the whole time… we just sucked at it.

Our party was supposed to help a mayor who was being blackmailed by bandits. While looking for the bandit’s hideout, we burned down a warehouse full of goods belonging to various merchants. Then our Ninja got a little carried away while interrogating a bandit we’d captured because he failed a Bluff check, causing us to have to physically restrain him. After the ‘incident’ he switched from Ninja to Drunken Master because his character couldn't deal with what he’d tried to do to the poor prisoner.

Finally, while trying to gather information, we accidentally spread rumors that the mayor was committing adultery; ruining both the marriage and reputation of the person we were trying to help. No matter what we did, we just seemed to make things worse. In the end we just paid the bandit leader 2,000 gold to go away, because we couldn't find their hideout.

The really sad part of this story; our party was aligned lawful-good…

I was DMing a long-term (about 3 years) campaign for several friends, and my brother. It was the only Forgotten Realms campaign I've ever run and it took this motley group of characters from feeble level 1 PC’s to level 18 world-saving heroes.

I consider myself a pretty fair DM. I roll all my dice rolls out front in the open, I loathe ‘save-or-die’ situations and spells, and if a player is about to do something stupid or foolish I will always ask “Are you sure you want to do that?” as my indicator that perhaps the stated plan is not the best idea or has a real chance to cause player death. (This is not entirely altruistic. I tend to build storylines on character backgrounds and I hate having to revise stuff.) That said, I WILL kill your character if he does something stupid, and no one know this better than my brother.

Most of the players at my table were possessed of a great deal of ingenuity and skill, and managed to maintain the same PC’s for the entire campaign... except my poor brother. He’s a good person, but let’s just say that he is not possessed of a great deal of common sense.

The other team members were a Rogue follower of Mystra with a few wizard levels who eventually went Arcane Trickster, a fairly bad-ass Cleric of Finder; and a Fighter without much in the way of brains but quite a bit of brawn and a well-used pair of Boots of Speed (lime green!). And then my brother. He was encouraged to play whatever he liked, because the other three had all the core roles covered and he already had a reputation for being unreliable, so he started with a Barbarian.

He managed to (in the very first quest) lose all his hair to a freak accident with some acid, lose all his clothes and non-metallic possessions in a fire, break his ancestral greatsword, then finally die impaled on some stalagmites.

Each of these incidents were preceded by myself asking, “Are you sure you want to do that?” and him replying, “Yes!”

His second character, a Rogue, lasted much longer but managed to provoke ALL the attacks of opportunity, and spent as much time rolling to stabilize as anything else.

He finally went from full HP to corpse in a single round with “I tumble through the pack of shadows.”

“Are you sure you want to do that?”

“Yes!”

Mind you, this is a character that had never succeeded on a Tumble check. Not. Once.

I do believe the rest of the party took some relish in whacking the shadow that rose out of his corpse.

His third character, a pyromaniac Wizard, only lasted one session.

“I cast Fireball at the trees to scare off the Stirges!”

“Are you sure you want to do that?”

“Yes!”

*BOOM!*

“I cast Gust of Wind to put out the fire!”

“Are you… are you sure you want to do that?”

“Yes!” (There were many facepalms that day.)

Everyone else managed to escape the ensuing forest fire. Pro tip: if you wanna play a pyromaniac, you probably oughtta prepare Resist Fire.

He went through a number of characters after that as the campaign proceeded; another Barbarian, a Sorcerer, a Paladin. Even after the party reached higher levels and gained access to Raise Dead, he repeatedly managed to find ways to die that made being raised impossible. Such as a repeatedly triggered disintegration trap, an out-of-the-way orb of annihilation that wouldn't have hurt anyone if it had been left alone, and a lava bath in the heart of a volcano.

However, his most memorable death was the time he just about managed to take the entire party with him.

He rolled up a Cleric of Mystra (the Cleric of Finder had been consistently and remarkably bad-ass the entire campaign and everyone was a bit jealous by this point) and was doing fairly well. The team had managed to find a way to abuse the time-travel mechanic provided for great wealth (in exactly the way I meant them to, mwahahahah) and was very well equipped at this point.

So the party was in the mountains fighting a tribe of Fire Giants and had come to the final battle against them. It was a long, knock-down, drag out fight, and the Fire Giant Chief (with fighter levels and excellent equipment) was the only enemy left standing. The party was badly hurt, but so was the giant, and the giant had just used his turn shaking off a Hold Monster spell.

"No problem," said the party leader. "Everybody’s got a turn before he goes again and he’s about to drop."

“I want to move HERE,” said my brother.

“That’s going to provoke an attack of opportunity, are you sure you want to do that?”

“Yes! I’ve still got 25 HP. He can’t drop me in one hit and I want the flanking bonus.”

Everybody at the table sighs and facepalms as he moves his figure across the map and I roll my dice.

*CRIT!* 47 damage and the Cleric of Mystra’s head is rolling down the mountainside.

“Cleave,” I said, to a table of groans.

The giant hits the Rogue. 22 damage. The Rogue is at -9 and is down.

“Great Cleave,” I said, and this time the moans of surprise and panic could be heard as everyone realized that this could, in fact, be IT.

The giant hits the Fighter. Crit! 45 Damage.

The Fighter is dead before she hits the ground.

“Great Cleave,” I said again, and there was no noise at all this time... you could have heard a pin drop as I loosed the die against the last standing party member.

Aaaaand… a one-round TPK is narrowly avoided when my giant rolls a 1 to miss the Cleric of Finder.

The poor guy was forced to watch the Rogue bleed out and die while he spends his action finishing off the giant.

While that was definitely not the last time I ever asked my brother “Are you sure you want to do that?” it was definitely the last time he ever answered the question “Yes!”

I'm currently playing a 5e game called The Dreaming Heralds, its okay, kind of slow though. I'm playing a few IRL games but that doesn't help you.

If you are interested I was thinking of running an RPOL game, it would be D&D 5e. Now all I need are a few good players...

Off the top of my head, it would be easier to make the Gun the focus of the character, it would be enchanted to add the spell damage/effect to the weapon damage perhaps... use your Dex for Spell Attacks of that nature... I don't know; that sounds O.P. but maybe something to that effect.

I wasn't even thinking of anything that intricate. Here's what I mean by re-skinning:

The Warlock shoots Eldritch Blast over and over again. I just call it a magic pistol or pistols and have sweet looking guns that "channel", or whatever, the blast and it's effects.

It's all in the writing and description, nothing mechanical changes.
-Action: Eldritch Blast for 1D10 damage.
-Description: Gun Mage spins on a heel and fires his elaborately carved pistol. Arcane runes flare from the silver barrel and the bullet leaves a faint trail of azure light as it curves towards it's target.

etc...

Same goes when he casts Scorching Ray or Fireball if Fiend.

There's no need for horrible gun mechanics up in here=) (I haven't read 5E's yet but no one has one them right yet.)

So I'd play the "Warlock" class, call it something else and forego the whole trite evil, devil-worshipper angle they always give the Warlock and make it into something a whole lot more flavorful and awesome. It doesn't need to be in the IK either. Any setting you want as long as there's a little bit of technology, even if it's magical tech like Eberron and not steampunk.

I tend to use a pseudo-Forgotten Realms Type setting, with influences from Eberron and Iron Kingdoms.

The campaign I have in mind is a influenced by the Rise of Tiamat but more along the lines of she has already risen and now you have to deal with the consequences.

I will also start the party off at level 4.

I found that on Google as I was researching Gun Mages. I have no experience with Warmachine, I know its a miniatures game set in the Iron Kingdoms, but not much more than that.

You ask about my life but there isn't much to tell. I was left on the doorstep of a rural church when I was only a newborn. The old kindly cleric who ran the church took me in a raised me until I was ten summers old. He died that year after falling prey to deadly illness that ravaged the country side. A new cleric was assigned to church and although he was also a kind man, he opted to send me to the city where the Church maintained an orphanage.
It was there that I spent most of my life and where I learned the tenets and practices of the church.

I was expected to be a good and obedient child being the offspring of a celestial and I was constantly held to a higher standard of behavior, which also served to isolate me from the other orphans. My only friend was Mykiel, a fierce and vengeful angelic being who often appeared to me to offer advice or reprimand me when I was up to some childish mischief. This led the other children to tease and bully me because they thought I was making up the whole "Guardian Angel" story as they could neither see nor hear Mykiel. So did most of the clergy for that matter and I soon learned to keep those conversations to myself.

The Archbishop knew about Mykiel, I'm not sure how exactly but its entirely possible another celestial told him. He paid attention to my education, if not to me directly and ensured that I ended up in the Martial Arm of the church. That is where I was trained to find and eradicate evil, well fiends mostly as well as the undead. We were also trained to expunge the evil of men and to protect the innocents from harm.

I spent my entire life in the church both spiritually & physically and it is now time to experience the world while protecting it from harm, now that I have completed my training. I am to patrol the land, in search of people that need help and root out supernatural evil wherever I find it. And of course to spread the word of "god" to the masses, bringing more & more souls under his Divine Protection.

Mangy was born in the CS's Lone star Facility. His as a natural birth but he never knew his mother. Instead he was raised by caregivers both human and Psi-hound until the age of two when he began his training and indoctrination into the CS's Psi-Hound Program. There he was trained to hunt and destroy the enemies of the CS in order to protect humanity from the depredations from the Rifts.

On his first mission he tracked a Ley Line Walker to settlement along a ley line. The settlement was filled with men, omen and children and the officer in charge ordered them all to be killed. But Mangy couldn't harm the children he as order to kill and refused to follow the order. The officer ordered him shot. But before the order could be carried out, a Cyber Knight appeared and cut down the entire squad. He spared Mangy hen the children begged for him and Mangy followed him when he left the settlement.

That was three years ago, Mangy now goes by the name Excalibur and followed his friends footsteps to become a cyber knight himself.
