Re: Message

Geoff stopped at the door to the shuttle as he heard that and then turned to face Kyoko. Had he been saying it like that? He couldn't tell if he had been or not, but that didn't matter to him much. "Hmmm. Maybe I was sayin' it like that. But that's only 'cause I have a hard time seein' the difference between the two. I mean, companion, whore...ya do the same thing in the end. Ya just get more schoolin' fer it, way I see it. Don't make the end result anymore different.", he remarked in a neutral tone.

Re: Message

Kyoko looks to Geoff, her eyes turning really cold at this point. She pointedly puts the gun down and looks to him. "I was in training since I was six, sex didn't come into my training till I was a teen. I hold the equivalent of 3 advanced degrees, I'm certifed in life support, drive systems, and can pilot anything up to and including the weight class the Destiny is in. I was trained in the sword, martial arts, and can handle both a pistol and a rifle. I know four languages fluently and can make by with as many dialects. Aside from Lei, I am possibly the brightest person on this ship with all due candor. I am far more than a harlot or whore. Sex is secondary to the issue of helping a client find his or her center, though sadly sex seems to be the fixation of many folks who encounter the companions."

Re: Message

Geoff nodded as if he were listening very carefully to what Kyoko was saying, not saying anything until she was done. When she was done he continued to nod for a few moments. "Uh-huh. Yeah. I get all that. Yer all fancily trained an' educated. Ya got degrees an' ya know 50 different ways ta kill a man an' 4 different ways ta talk ta him while ya do. Ya got all these fancy clothes and belongings that make ya so much higher class than any o' us here. Yeah, yer job may be downright glamorous.", he said with a shrug,"But, in the end, there's money exchanged and then there's sex. Simple as that. It's expected an' it happens. So, ya can be as smart as ya want an' have as many degrees as ya want, but gettin' paid fer sex still says whore in my book. Ya jus' put it in fancier dressin'."

He shook his head and shrugged again then. "Oi, but don't get me wrong. I don't see nothin' wrong with whorin'. It's a job an' we all do what we gotta do. I ain't one ta be judgin' anybody's profession anyway, considerin' I beat people up an' kill 'em fer a livin'.", he remarked simply.

Re: Message

Kyoko smirks. "And if I said that I hadn't slept with anyone in several clients?" She shrugs. "I don't claim to be better than anyone, I just find it amusing everyone thinks I have to take money for sex. I provide confort, occassionally that entails sex, but not always. My last client, well we watched old earth cartoons and ate popcorn, and I only charged him the cost of shuttle fuel. It's about giving a client something back, helping them find their center. As for momey, I'm not on Destiny for money Geoff. "

Kyoko walks over to one of her chests and opsns the palm lock, puling out a dusty bottle and an pair of tumblers. <blue>"As for the real issue here, I won't make any promises concerning Lei. We both know that would be impossible to enforce, she's .. too unique.",/blue>

Re: Message

Geoff shrugged off Kyoko's words. "Look, what ya do is yer business. I don't care much, I'll be honest. Ya do sleep with men or ya don't, it ain't none o' my concern. I'm jus' sayin' what I think based on what I know. I'll admit that I don't know a lot, but it's all I got.", he said with a slight laugh,"An', jus' fer the record, it would be kinda obvious ya ain't on a ship like this fer money. Hell, we're the crew an' we ain't made no money in awhile."

"As fer Lei, it's pretty easy. Jus' don't give her nothin' 'til ya talks ta me. Simple as that.", he said with a shrug,"I mean, well, not all the time. Simple stuff is fine. Stuff that's gotta do with pilotin' an' schoolin', ya can show her whatever ya want. Jus' the sensitive stuff that may lead ta awkward questions later. I mean....well, she'd probably find a way ta find out anyway, but at least I'd have some warnin'."

"I'll try to give you warning Geoff, but I won't foolish enough to lie and say I'm going to screen her circulum though you. I am not even sure I can keep track of all she's learning. She needs a little of both from us I think. I can cover the mechanics of life, but I think your courseness is needed as well." she pours two glasses, the amber liquid swirling in the two tumblers. She offers one to him and puts the bottle on the chest carefully.

"One of my father's collection. It's possible some of the last single malt that came from 'Earth that Was' grains. Everything these days is made from engineered grain. It's quite.. unique and well over 100 years old. The last time it was drunk, my father had just asked my mother to marry him."

Re: Message

Geoff sighed and nodded, agreeing with what she said about Lei. "Well, I guess that's the best that can be hoped fer when it comes ta Lei. But at least she ain't gonna be learnin' out in the streets like I did. That's somethin'.", he said and then laughed,"Fer a long time, I thought sex was somethin' ya only got if ya paid fer it or if ya were drunk! Heh. Yep. It's good that Lei can learn the facts....though the tellin' o' those facts is gonna be hard on my nerves."

Geoff takes the offered drink, looking apologetic. "Aw, ya know, I really shouldn't. Cap'n tol' me not ta drink on ship an' we're supposed ta be talkin' 'bout the plan an' then I gotta tell Lei 'bout se...ya know, one drink won't hurt.", he said as he took a sip of the liquid,"Hmmm. Very good stuff. Thanks kindly fer sharin' it. Seems kinda valuable ta be wastin' any on a drunk like me though. Both in the money sense o' things an' sentimental sense o' things, judgin' by what ya said 'bout yer ma and pa."

"Technically you're not on the ship, you're in my shuttle." Kyoko says wryly. "As long as I pay on time, the shuttle is my domain."

She raises the tumbler to her nose and sniffs the frangrance. "I find it entertaining that the bottle is drunk only yards from where it was last time. It was on this ship that my father proposed, they spent the better part of a year touring the core on this ship. It's a close secret that I was born in medical, do keep that to yourself only one other person on board knows." She raises the glass and looks to Geoff. "To teaching your foster child how to live?"

Re: Message

Geoff smiled wryly at that. "Well, thank all the powers in the 'verse for technicalities then.", he said with a nod. He quirked his head curiously as she relayed the fact that Destiny was the very ship her father proposed to her mother and that she was born on. "Heh. That's quite a coincidence ta find yerself on this very ship again then, I reckon. Well, actually, I get the feelin' it ain't a coincidence at all, is it? Heh. Don't worry 'bout it. Yer secret's safe with me."

He then raised the glass in return and smiled. "Ta teachin' my little sister how ta live.", he corrected and then took a drink.

"True enough, it wasn't a coicidence." Kyoko says with a coy smile and returns the toast. "I'm doing all I can to protect her my way, and you do it your way. Between the two of us, we'll do what we can."

With that she sips the whiskey, savoring it's burn.

Re: Message

Geoff smiled and nodded. "Yep. I do guess that between the two of us, she'll turn out just fine. 'Course, everybody on the crew is a help there too. Heh. Like a family....", he said, a wistful tone coming to his voice for a moment. He shakes it off quickly and takes another sip of the liqour before placing the tumbler down on the trunk next to the bottle carefully.

"Well, much as I hate ta leave when there's alcohol ta be drunk, I gotta get goin'. Cap'n's gonna be bothered if I ain't there when he gets back ta the dinin' hall. I'll see ya later then.", he said and turned toward the door, pausing slightly,"Uh...an' thanks fer not shootin' me when I came in here like I did....uh...an' thanks fer helpin' with Lei..." The last had come out nearly as an inaudible mumble as he walked out of the shuttle.

Re: Message

Kyoko sighs as she finishes her journal entries and code locks it. Perhaps she should add in another level of security, after all Lei had access to her syetem.  Her finger lingered over the palm scanner for a second before adding her hand print to the lock. Her private thoughts and journal entries weren't something she wanted to have the others to have access to.

Finished she pulled up her mail, time to see how her contacts were helping the one person she couldn't save from the authorities.

Kyoko finishes up her messages and closes down the computer. She stood and streched. Time to do her work out, she mused as she collected her blade and headed down to the hangar to work out, tucking her katanna under arm as she leaves her shuttle.

Re: Message

After successfully delivering the stamp to the Professor and despite the loss of their first mate, the crew of Destiny headed back into the black.  Back to work.  A few jobs later has left them with a crate from Xiaygin to be delivered to Torrance Station.  They've just docked at the space station located on the rim.

Its now been almost a month since the museum job and Rhaef leaving - the wounds are healing but they haven't been forgotten yet.

Kyoko went through her kata, going slow and careful. Clearly she was gauging her limists as she did the routine. Not too hap if things could be read from her sweat covered face. The ribs had take sometime to heal, and truth be told se was lucking not to have gotten a punctured lung.

Kyoko looks up from her terminal, touching a sensor to code lock the files as she gets up. The klaxon means there was trouble, and the ship's doctor wasn't around so that meant sshe might be needed as a medic. She got up and headed into the shop proper, pausing collect the shuttles trauma pack and heading to the bridge to see where she was needed.

Re: Message

After their daring escape from Torrance Station the crew of Destiny was left broken and beaten ... and one crew member short.  The mourning had just begun for the crew but they had to press on.  They dropped the young boy which Kale, Geoff, and Wei-Li had saved off with his father and then turned to Paquin for Ren's funeral.  It was a short trip that left all of them with heavy hearts but Ren's death had effected no one as hard as Acacia.  So two weeks later found the crew of Destiny on Osiris saying goodbye to their doctor.

And although he was millions of miles away, as Destiny and her crew suffered ... so did Rhaef ...

Re: Message

Kyoko slipped into her shuttle with a sigh. Somehow, she mused, the ship's family enviorment had changed. She knew the big cause of that, the lose of Ren had hit everyone pretty hard. She doubted that there would be any easy way to let his memory fade anytime soon. Not that she felt it would do the fallen crewman any amount of justice if they did.

She shook her head as she lit some incense and sat down at her terminal, clearing Lei's last work out and pulling up her secured corresondence to answer. Hopefully it would keep her thoughts from returning to the fallen and others.

Re: Message

With the bay doors shut and Dake's capable hands at the yoke Destiny left Osiris behind - if only they could leave the painful memories there with it ...

The black was a welcome change from the core world which always made the crew uneasy.  But they all knew that peril lay ahead.  Rhaef was in danger and it there job to go save him.  However this was the most divided the crew had been since the first day Destiny took to the sky.  There was a lot of patching up to do before they reached Beaumonde and had to once again work as a team.

Re: Message

Kyoko sat in her bed, starring at the walls once more. All this death had brought back memories long ago put by the wayside. She sighed and leaned back. On some level, she'd cared for Ren...probably not the same way that the rest of the crew had, certainly not Acacia, but she had always liked him.

Rhaef was missing too, and Kyoko knew that weighed heavily on this crew as well.

This crew...was she part of this crew? Kyoko shrugged to no one in particular and fell all the way onto her bed, so that she was now staring at the ceiling. This crew, this ship. Technically and currently, her home. It was that she didn't care for all of them in her own way...it was just hard to show it to such, uneducated...

Kyoko paused again. No, they weren't uneducated. They merely had been raised and trained differently in their own capacities. Kyoko sighed, frustrated. She didn't want to belittle anyone on this crew. Not after all they'd been through. Well, excepting that newcomer...Drake? Dak? Whatever, he annoyed her, which was sad because she'd interacted with him once. Kyoko sighed and stood up. It was a confined space in here, and she wanted to walk...her correspondence had all been answered, and she had no other engagements.

Re: Message

(From Cargo Bay)

Kyoko sighed exasperatedly as she locked the door to her shuttle and stripped off the ruined outfit. Her meeting with the captain was very soon, so the best she could do was dry off and make herself look presentable. She grabbed a towel, drying her hair before twisting into a bun and putting a set of ornamental sticks through it to hold it in place.

She grabbed a nice looking outfit of crimson and gold, putting it on as she reapplied a light coating of make-up. She examined herself, then pursed her lips. Now to discuss the deplorable affair with the captain.

Kyoko looked over to the intercomm, somewhat startled. She'd been letting the whole Dake incident go, and grooming herself, and it was an unexpected interruption. She sighed, putting down her brush.

She picked up the intercomm.

"Understood captain, I'll be moving now."

She made sure everything that needed to be put away was, then proceeded to exit her shuttle.
