Re: Orisis - Capitol City Hospital

Wei-Li gave Rhaef a questioning look and then blinked once.  Turning she fished some lip balm out of her pocket and applied it to her lips before putting it away.  She was glad that she at least had her own pants with her own items in it.

She took a calming breath then wiped her eyes, getting a little of the lip balm in them, helping give them a nice irritated red look.

Rhaef smiled, and said quietly, "You're just full of tricks. You ever consider joining us full time. I think Kale could use an ally like you."

Wei-Li gave Rhaef a slight smile then slipped back into character.  The last thing she wanted to have happen was for the owner to see the 'greiving sister' smiling.

She bowed her head and gave a slight nod.

With Wei-Li prepared, Rhaef began running through the story in his head, while he waited for the store owner. They would not wait too much longer, standing in one place for a prolonged period was not the best idea for them at this point.

Re: Orisis - Capitol City Hospital

The paper shuffling finally stopped and they could hear footsteps coming out of the back room.  The foot steps stopped and they could hear him open something, then a popping sound and a sigh.

The man appeared from the back room, soda in hand.  He had long dark hair that hung in clumps.  He gave them an unseemly smile.

"So, how can I help you folks?" he asked.

Rhaef shook his head, the man would probably be desparate enough. Affecting his disguise, "Well, our kid brother was working for the Alliance and got killed by some Indy's, and well, they made come claim and identify the body. When we did they gave us his effects, including this blaster. My sister does not want this anywhere near our family, she thinks its cursed. Yet, I'm not about to go traveling out to core to deliver the body to our parents, unarmed. Wondering what kind of trade we can do?" Rhaef paused to let the man digest the story. "I know enough about guns to know that you can move that piece of hardware fairly quickly, and that its worth about as much as those two shooting irons, the deringer, and few spare credits."

"War might be over, but you been out on the rim lately, many of them Independents don't seem to think it is, and they been taking pop shots wherever they can. A place like Ulysess, where a brother was, is just about one long continued guerilla war." He paused, his voice filling with anger, "These bastards keep killing innocents boys sent out to keep the peace, they weren't even fightin' in the war when it happened."

Wei-Li looked up at Rhaef's outburst then sobbed.  "That's what...h...h...e.... thou...ght..."

She burried her face in her hands, allowing a little more of the balm into her eyes, then started crying.

The man backed up a little, then held his hands out, trying to stop the trouble.  "No, hey.. I...I'm sorry... I .. "

He turned to Rhaef, his expression desperate.  "Can't you... he gestured towards Wei-Li, indicating that he wanted Rhaef to do something to get her to stop.

Rhaef put his arm consolingly around Wei-Li's shoulder, "It's okay, Amanda, we're almost done. Then we can take Michael home to Mom and Dad." He said tenderly, like a brother consoling his sister. Looking up at the shop attendent, "So man, are you willing to help us out?"

Wei-Li nodded moving in so that she was crying into her 'brother's' shoulder.  She gave a soft sob, then looked up at the man, tears streaming down her face.

"Please...mis-ter... I..I just want to go home..."

Re: Orisis - Capitol City Hospital

Guido looked over the weapon, knowing full well that the Alliance would never willingly part with such a weapon.  He studied it, spressing a smile.  He could easlily sell this to one of several contacts and make three times the 'greiving brother' was asking.

He had to give them credit though, if he didn't know the weapon they were selling, didn't know Alliance Policy... he'd have bought it.

He looked at it and then.  "Seein' how your brother gave his all... its the least I can do... I got these, " he said pointing towards the show case to the left of where Rhaef was standing.  "Not much in the line of derringers but we have these... "

He looked at Rhaef.  "You picke 'em out... we'll talk..."

Re: Orisis - Capitol City Hospital

The weapons were impressive, including a couple a blasters he'd known in the past. As much as he wanted to fight it, his hands were drawn to these, the familar weight and heft, the natural, fluid feeling they had in his hands, and at the point, he knew he'd made his choice. He also picked a small, but reliable gun for Wei-Li, hoping that she would not have to use it.

Rhaef set them on the counter, and knowing that it was likely greed and not their story that gotten the better of the attendant said, "I think these, ammo for a trip to the rim, and 100 credits should be a fair trade."

Guido checked the weapons and nodded at Rhaef's offer.  It was more than fair, almost too fair.  The man definitely knew what he was selling, it was obvious by the way he looked at the weapons, but in the end it didn't matter.

"Seein' as how you and your sister are still getting over your loss, an' you got a long ways to go... he smiled and nodded.

"Deal."

"Sounds good, and I'd like the ammo and the creds now," Rhaef said, buckling the all too familar feeling holsters to his legs. The guns slid in, like he had never let them leave his side. "Oh well," he thought to himself, "can't run from my past, from what I am forever."

Guido nods and hands Rhaef the credits.  "Hopefully your return home will be uneventful..."

He was temped to say something more, but since the man had a loaded weapon, it probably wasn't worth it.  Besides, one wave after they left and he'd be a rich man.

Rhaef collected their goods and departed the store with Wei-Li. Once outside, he turned to her, "There's probably a good chance, he's already reporting us, although he'll probably try to sell the gun first, considering he won't want to be in possession of stolen property when the Alliance arrives." He paused and hailed a taxi, "That said, we still need to get moving." He opened the door for her, "After you Amanda."

Wei-Li nodded.  That was pretty much her take on it too, but with weapons and money, things were looking better.

She slipped into the taxi and let Rhaef run the show.

The cabbie looks at Rhaef for a moment and then shakes his head: its their funeral.

He heads out, driving at a cautious speed, pausing as a car, followed by a police cruiser run through the intersection.

"Hai ya!" he growls as he slams on the breaks.  "Sorry 'bout that folks..." he added as he eased into the intersection and continued on his way.

A few minutes later they'd reached their destination.  "Credit and a half, he announced.
