Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

Dake laughed, "I swear, Kale, it was an accident."  He dodge another of Lei's balloons which smashed up against one of the crates behind him and ran for cover before realizing that Lei was out.

"Oh you're in trouble now!" he called at her tossing another one in her direction.

"Wait, that's not fair, I'm all out!" Lei said as Dake's balloon hit her. "Someone tell him that's not fair!" she laughed and ran for cover as well.  She was wet and cold in the large bay, but she didn't care.

Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

"Enough!!!" Kale shouted over the sound of splashing balloons, laughter, screams, Kyoko shouting, and the clanging of boots.  Everything stopped, there was silence.  Most of the crew had never seen Kale this angry before.  His eyes moved from one person to the next and then settled on Dake.

"I'm assuming that this was yer smart idea?" he said in a hard voice.

Dake's fingers were still wrapped tightly around the buckets handle when Kale shouted loud enough to scare a bear out of hibernation.  He froze and looked up, then sighed as the Captains judgemental eyes ran over him.

"Ah, come on, Kale.  We were just havin'-"

"I don' rightly care." Kale cut him off, "I didn't let you stay on ta run around upsettin' my crew, soilin' my ship, and ruinin' my cargo.  What the gorram hell were you thinkin'?  Here I am tryin' to figure out how ta save one 'o my own.  Preparin' fer a dangerous job an' yer doin' what, Dake?  Playin'?" Kale shook his head in disgust.

Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

Lei stood silently behind one of the cargo crates in the bay, her eyes staring down at her wet feet, the sound of dripping water seemed to echo her guilt throughout the cargo bay.  She felt terrible now.  Terrible that they'd made a mess, terrible that Dake was the one getting in trouble for it, and terrible that she had enjoyed it so much.

Dake shook his head.  Kale was not the man he remembered at all anymore.  Well at least that makes one thing easier, sure as hell don't have to worry about him remindin' me of things I'm best off forgettin'.  He ain't like that at all anymore

"Well this ain't Santo, Dake.  This is a ship.  This ain't no game." he looked around the bay at the puddles of water everywhere and didn't even want to think about what they did to the dining hall.

"Now I want you ta clean this all up - both of you." he said, shooting a glance at Lei as well.

He looked up at Kyoko, "Miss Monroe, I apologize fer this mans behavior.  If you'd like to speak further on the subject we can speak in my quarter in twenty minutes."

Kale shook his head again, why the hell did he let Dake stay on in the first place?  Biggest mistake he'd ever made.  The man was runnin' around like they were still ... like they were still kids.  Like they did when Nate was still alive.  But Nate wasn't here no more ...

"Right.  Sorry to step on yer precious toes." Dake glared at Kale.  This man, this is the man that had gotten his brother killed and then ran off to start a new family onboard this here ship.  Dake hated him right now as he moved upstairs to grab a mop.

"Come on, Lei."

Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

Geoff watched Dake and Lei's retreating backs.  His face was unreadable.  But unlike Kale, Geoff didn't feel angry ... he felt sad.  Here he had thought playing a game of chess with Lei would make her happy.  Win her back over ... but Geoff had never heard Lei laugh like that before.  Not ever in the entire time that he had known her.  He'd never seen Lei happy like that.  He'd never seen her having fun.

The thought sent a chill right through him.  Who was he kidding trying to be like a big brother to Lei.  A guy like him.  He had no business being around children.  No business at all.

And in comes this new pilot guy, with his water balloon fights, and his being friendly with Wei-Li ... he was coming right in and taking everything that Geoff cared about.  The only things that Geoff had ever loved ...

"I don' like that guy." Geoff muttered.

Kyoko nodded curtly to the captain.

"I'll see you there, captain..."

Not even Kale, or Galway...just captain. Apparently, Kale wasn't the only one pissed off.

Kyoko stormed off to her shuttle.

Not wanting to get yelled at Wei-Li supressed a smile.  "I'll go get the mops and squeeg," she commented as she left Kale and Geoff where they stood.

She knew times were hard, but this place needed laughter, and even taking into consideration the mop up involved, it was a damn site better than the snarkfest that had been going on.

Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

Kale frowned as he watched most of his crew disappear to various parts of the ship.  He knew that he'd be regretting taking Dake on.  He wished like hell that boy was elsewhere.  He didn't have time to be worrying about him, not when they had Rhaef to deal with.  That was his first priority.

He looked back to Geoff, the only one remaining in the bay, "Bring what you need to.  It'll be you, me, and Wei.  This one can't go South - so be ready."

With that he headed out, now to deal with the companion.  Kale wasn't exactly Kyoko's biggest fan, but she had proved to be useful more then once.  He couldn't afford to lose her over some stupid mistake that Dake had made.  Kale sighed, just one more thing to worry about ...

Wei-Li set to work, checking the supplies that were anchored down, she quickly dried them off before anything could damage the contents before setting to work changing out the damp netting with dry netting.

She enjoyed this part of the job if for no other reason than the fact that it let her stretch her talents to their limit.  It was a combination of climbing, rigging, acrobatics and gymnastics.

Once she finished retying the crates, she surveyed the area for remains of gloves that could gum up the works.  The last thing they needed was for the remnants of Dake’s fun causing more problems.

Lei entered the cargo bay and spotted Wei-Li combing the area on the lower level, "Dake sent me to see if you needed help picking up out here." when she noticed she was picking up the pieces of broken gloves she added quietly, "I'm sorry about the mess."

Wei-Li smiled at Lei.  "Aw Lei, there's no real damage done here.  People's nerves are on edge's all.  And this probably wasn't the best place for a water fight."

She finished picking up the bits of glove she could see and then shrugged.  "The hardest part is going to be making sure we got all the peices.  I'd hate to have this come back and haunt us... "

"I could definitely use another pair of eyes to make sure there's nothing else laying around."

Lei smiled at Wei-Li for making her feel better, "I can do that." she said and began combing the bay floor for small pieces of rubber.  It really was a bit of a mess, but Lei had no difficulty spotting even the most hard to find pieces.  With Lei helping the process went considerably faster, her eyesight being so good.

Lei started at Wei-Li for a moment tilting her head.  The riot act, she remembered reading about it in one of the professor's history books, but there was no assembly here.  There was no...

She looked up a smile coming to her face as she realized Wei-Li was using the term figuratively.  She nodded slowly.  "You were very clear," she assured the acrobat.

"If you can finish up here, I'm going to see about talking to Dake... see if we can work our way out of this Ri shao gou shi bing""

She sighed shaking her head.

Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

Geoff, as was becoming a far-too-common occurance lately, stood in the cargo bay, looking from person to person to person, unsure of what move to make next.  He was completely unprepared for this kind of life.  Give him a gun, ammunition and a target and he could fly through with no hesitation.  Give him a crowded bar, a few drunks and a pair of steady fists and he could bull his way through practically unscathed.  But put him in the center of a group of people where pretty words and apologies were necessary and he was naught more than a babe lost in the woods; with a pack of ravening wolves salivating not two meters away.

With a sigh, Geoff just shrugged his shoulders and headed toward his bunk.  Gorram it, Rhaef.  Dunno if'n I'm more ruttin' pissed cause you're gone an' left me t'pick up yer weight or cause yer comin' back an' I ain't gonna be nuthin' but muscle an' a pretty face.

At least he'd been given carte blanche in the weapons department.  The thought didn't help.

Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

[From Destiny: Dining Hall]

Kale stepped out from the dining hall and onto the upper level catwalk of the cargo bay and almost ran smack into Geoff on his way to his bunk.  Taking a step back Kale looked at up at the younger but larger man.

"Sorry 'bout that.  Runnin' a ship ain't ever easy." he said, in reference to having to take a break from getting things ready to deal with the "Dake problem".

"You pick out yer weapons 'o choice yet?" he didn't wait for Geoff to respond before yelling down to the lower level were Wei-Li and Lei were, "An' you best be ready to Wei, yer comin' with on this one.  We're gonna need man power and we're gonna need stealth."

Kale tried to push all of his issue with Dake from his mind, he couldn't deal with that now.  He needed to focus on getting Rhaef home.

So not quite carte blanche.  Oh well.  Focus on the problem at hand.

"On the way.  Be ready quicker'n a fire in a who-... uh, well, quick."

Geoff ducked his head, seemingly backpeddalling and moving forward simultaneously.

Wei-Li smiled up at Kale.  "Stealth is my middle name," she answered cheerfully.

"Actually its Heloise," She confided.  With a shrug she returned to the weapons locker which she had abandoned for the great 'balloon round-up.'

"I guess my question is, are you going to need me more as a sneak or as another gun?  Perhaps a bit of both?"
