Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

Wei-Li smiled and flipped off of the netting.  "I'm about 90%," she answered with a smile.  "I can do my acrobatics, but my arm's not quite strong enough to catch folks."

She'd caught Geoff... helped him up.  They'd kept themselves going with the promise of being there for the other and now...

Now Geoff didn't want her to be there for him.  He sure as hell wasn't there for her.

Then she looked at Connor realizing her mood had visibly shifted.  "I guess somethings take time."

Connor nodded and set down the tool he had in his hands.

"It's the way of life sometimes...things you want to hurry seem to take centuries, meanwhile, the worst case scenario tends to sneak right up on you...."

Wei-Li shrugged then swung down and flipped over the tool bag and stood back up, simply completing the move.

"I think we've had enough worst case scenarios," she sighed.

Connor nodded and looked around the cargo bay before nodding.

"I'm not disagreeing at all...did the captain say something about dinner being soon? Or that we were having a guest?...."

"Both I think," she answered as she put the equipment away.

"I just don't know if this is a wash up meal or a get dressed meal..."

Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

Connor shrugged, helping Wei-Li put away the equipment.

"I think I'll probably wash up and get new clothes on...it's been a decently short day, but still..." He sighed, in all truth, it had been mostly depressing, so hopefully it turned around. "Right then...so I'll see you in the Dining Hall I assume..." With that, Connor turned around and headed up to his bunk, to wash up and get a fresh set of clothes on.

Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

Skidding to a halt in front of the Destiny, Dake bailed off the bike, hung his helmet, and pulled his backpack off.   He did a quick watch check.      Ai ya huai le.  I am late.  Way to make friends and influence people, dumbass.

He pulled off his gloves, retrieved two bottles out of his bag and replaced them with his gloves.     Single malt scotch because I think that is Kale’s favorite, and Stiller Vodka because it goes down smooth alone or mixed with anything.  I hope it makes up for my being late.

He approached the ramp to the Destiny.  ”Anyone home?”

Wei-Li watched Connor leave and set to work straightening the cabinet before locking it.

She was about to head to her quarters when she heard someone call from the gangway.

She turned and smiled.  "Hello," she said with a nod.  "Can I help you?"

Her smile drove the words from his head.    She's so beautiful.   He was speechless for a few more moments, and then he stammered, "Um, I am suppose to be here.  I, uh, mean, Kale invited me to dinner, but you are a much better looking reception then Kale would have been."

He switched the bottles to his off hand and held out a hand.  "I am Dake Collins."

Her laugh sounded genuine and made him grin.  He tried not to keep grinning like an idiot, but wasn’t sure if he was succeeding.      She is just a gal.  Gorram, pretty one, but just a gal.  Get a hold of yourself, so you don’t make a bigger fool out of yourself.

”Not half as pleased as I am to meet you.  Wei-Li is a beautiful name.”

His grin disappeared as the bottles nearly slip from his hand.   There was a short scramble until he was able to grab one in each hand.  His grin came back.  ”Ta da!"  He gave her a wink.  It would be a shame if your smile distracted me and I dropped my gifts.  Maybe you could take me to dinner?"

Wei-li smiled and laughed at Dake's comment.  "Please, this way," She said gesturing him to follow.

"Would you like help with those?"

She let him to the stairs and began the climb up to the main level.

He hefted the bottles.  ”Nope, I got them, but thank you.”

He followed her up the stairs.     Don’t walk too close, dun hun.  She’ll think you’re a pervert….    He also tried to keep his eyes from straying in case she looked back at him.  …and quit looking at her ass.

In an attempt to not make a fool out of himself he asked, “As I was saying before, you have a very pretty name.  Where did you get it?”

WHERE DID YOU GET IT?!?   What kind of a  Gou Cao De question is that?  So much for not looking like a complete moron.

”I mean, um, well, is it a family name?”

I am a dumbass.

Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

[From Destiny: Dining Hall]

Lei padded quietly out of the dining hall and into the cargo bay, her slippered feet making no noise on the metal catwalk - she was always amazed at how loud it was when Geoff or the Captain clonked through here but she never made a sound.  Lei wasted no time searching the ship for Charlie - there was only one place that the mechanic was likely to be and the was the engine room.  The door was shut, Charlie had been really quiet ever since Torrance Station, Lei didn't fully understand but she knew that Ren's death had probably hit her the hardest after Acacia.

Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

Charlie stepped into the Cargo Bay, her bare feet padding silently against the cool metal of the floor.  The cold raised up through her skin, causing her legs to gooseflesh slightly.  She didn't notice, however...her mind was still bouncing between events, and when she heard the recording play over the intercom, it just made her feel worse.  She glided down the stairs, walking straight to the bay doors.  The rear hatch was still open from when Deke and Kale originally came back on, and a warm breeze drifted from the Osiris sky, dancing along her skin and blowing her hair out of her face.

"Gorram, Rhaef."  She muttered to herself, sitting down on the lip of the hatch, her bare feet resting on the landing pad.  "You'd best be glad tha'cha not 'round, y'd be missin' all sortsa...all sortsa this."  She let out a sigh, pulling up her knees and crossing her arms around her legs.  Even though she knew she could never go back, there was nothing Charlie wanted more than to just go home...

Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

Charlie looked up when Kale's voice came on over the intercom, sliding up onto her feet quickly.  No matter what she was thinking...well, there had been too many "situations" over the past few months to treat something like that lightly.  She pounded a fist on the button for the hatch, just in case they needed to set sail in a hurry...wouldn't do well to blast the interior of the ship into the atmosphere.  With large strides, she made her way up the steps and towards the bridge.

Wei-Li swung down the stairs with practiced ease and sighed.  "Boss... 'bout earlier...."

She bit her lip, wondering what she was going to say but she knew she had to say something.

Kale looked back over his shoulder at Wei-Li who was following close behind him as she spoke, "Earlier?" he asked in a slightly distracted voice.  He was focused on where he was going to store the three large crates sitting in his bay.  He had no notion what Wei-Li was talking about having forgotten all about earlier.

Wei-Li looked at Kale for a moment, then grabbed a set of packing straps and draped them over her shoulders before heading for the lifter.

"Boss...Kale..." she started then let out a frustrated sigh.  "I don't know where my head is anymore."

She looked around the bay and paused, unsure if Kale wanted to run the lifter.  "You lifting or am I?"

"Wei, what in the world are you talkin' 'bout?" Kale gave the girl a quizzical look, not knowing what she was talking about, he had so much on his mind what with Dake being here and Rhaef being in trouble and all sorts of friction with Geoff causing tension everywhere the man went ... and Ren being gone ...

He shook that thought from his mind, "I'll lift." he grunted as he heaved the crate up, it wasn't too bad, no need to pull the lifter out.

Wei-Li nodded, working as a spotter in case Kale needed help.  When she saw where he was headed with the first crate she hooked in the tie downs and brought them over the crate.

Then she stopped and turned to face Kale.  She took a deep breath.  "I'm sorry I yelled earlier."

Kale set the crate down with a small grunt and looked over at Wei-Li with a slightly disbelieving expression on his face.  Then he smiled.  Then he laughed.

"Wei-Li, I hadn't thought nothin' of it.  Don't you go frettin' your head none 'bout it.  It's been a tough few weeks, all our tempers are runnin' high.  No one can really be blamed for sayin' stuff they don't mean." in the back of his mind he was hoping that was true, cause he knew he'd been doing his own fair share of sticking his foot in his mouth.

Wei-Li nodded as she squated down and hooked the straps into place and began cinching them down.  "Still, don't give me the right-- and I wanted you to know... "

She sighed and shook her head.  "Even after everything, even after how... we're hurtin'-- This is more home than Paquin ever was... and its the folks that make it that way."

Kale stopped what he was doing and looked at Wei-Li.  He didn't smile, but she could tell that meant something to him.  She could tell that that was what he needed to hear right about now.  He looked like he might say something but then a loud clanging sound entered the cargo bay.

Re: Destiny-Cargo Bay

[From Destiny: Dining Hall]

Geoff's boots clanged loudly on the stairs leading down into the bay.  He didn't know what he was interrupting, but he'd rather make his presence known then stand there sneaking on the balcony, "Ai ya, Cap'n, thought ya was needin' help securin' it all down.  Now you done gone and did it all yerself." he looked back to Lei who had followed him in quietly, "Looks like they won't be needin' our help lil' lady." he said, trying and smile on Lei which was weakly returned.  It crushed him.  The distrust in her eyes.  He tried to shrug it off but it just wouldn't go away.  He looked to Wei-Li, afraid to see it there too.

"Uh, good work ..." he said awkwardly.
