Greetings and salutations!
Hello any and all, I am new to this place. Just decided to stop by and say, "Hello". I have not participated in role playing for awhile, and wanted to get back into it. I recently moved and just a few hours ago found that it seems there are at least 2 awesome hobby shops near me, I am excited and a little anxious. I am unsure how hard it is to find a good, dedicated group. Mostly, I played in my childhood with my besties. So, I am here to hopefully shake some rust off, find decent people to make up some stories and have some fun. Toodaloo!

Welcome!  I think, from reading another of your posts, you might know your way around already, so I'll give you the short version:

Wanted - GMs gets you GMs willing to put together and run a game you want to play.
Wanted - Players gets you players for a game you already have ready to play.
Game Proposals, Input, and Advice gives you the opportunity to ask for feedback on any game-related matter, or to propose a new game concept to gauge interest.

What sorts of things do you play?

Hello, Horus. Thank you for welcoming me and explaining a little bit more about the subforums. I mostly delve in D&D stuff, mostly 3. I looked into 4th edition, but that looked fairly confusing. The new 5th one looks like a good bridge from 3rd edition.
What about you, Horus?

If you have any questions on Fourth Editon DnD, I'm happy to help - it's actually pretty straightforward which is why I like it, with basic mechanics working much the same across all classes so you don't have this weirdness of needing to learn how spells work all over again just because you're playing a different type of caster or whatever ;). It's also, or so I've heard, the most balanced of all the versions of DnD.

Anyway, welcome to the forums and all that - have fun finding some new game(s) to play/run, in whatever system(s) you find interesting :D.

Well, since you asked:  I started out with The Arduin Grimoire.  I stopped playing D&D with AD&D Second Edition. I play mostly Traveller (preferring Classic Traveller with a dash of MegaTraveller for background).

I love the milieu Joss Whedon created for Firefly, but I'm not a huge fan of Cortex or of Cortex Plus.  I wish there were something like system reference documents somewhere, because the presentations of it I've seen thus far seem too disjointed and disorganized.

For fantasy gaming, I like a neo-old-school rule set called Astounding Swordsmen and Sorcerers of Hyperborea (ASSH for short).  I've heard it described as "D&D without any nasty hobbitses".  Played it across the table back when I still had time, and found it to be fast-paced, evocative, and fun to play.

I also have an abiding love for role-play in M.A.R. Barker's world of Tekumel, presently favoring The Petal Hack, but I've played Empire of the Petal Throne, Tirikelu, and supported the Bethorm kickstarter.

I've been looking at Fate, and like some aspects of it, but don't really have the time anymore to give this system the work it deserves.

I'm an older fellow, so I've played a lot of other systems, but these are the systems and milieu I keep coming home to.
