Lurker wanting to get involved
I have been dealing with the wonderful (painful) thing known as school, but I'm going to try and be involved in an RP or two here.
I've got lots of RPG experience, mostly D&D/Pathfinder and freeform RPs.
I generally play in voice chat, but text chat is good for creative writing practice.
I've been involved on roll20, which actually makes me want to ask (since roll20 has a bit of an issue with this): how long do I wait after posting an application before assuming it has been denied? On roll20 people often don't respond at all, but different sites have different communities.

In reply to Aleph Null (msg # 1):

Welcome to RPoL.  If you can log in and post, your application for membership here was accepted to the best of my knowledge.

Not to assume anything, I'll just ask: are you in high school, college, or what?  The answer to that question may have bearing on what types of content you can access here.

Hit the Help system (upper right corner of any RPoL screen) and read up on the policies governing adult and mature content if you have applied or want to apply for those kinds of access.  It typically takes two weeks to process such an application.

If you want to find a game, hit Wanted - Players and note the two different search tools there.  The ad search at the top of the page will help you search for recent game ads (as far back as eight weeks).  The search tool at the bottom left of the page will help you search for posts by author or subject in the entire ad listing.

If you have a game in mind, but want someone else to run it, check Wanted - GMs.  Here you can pitch your game concept, and GMs who are willing to run your game can reply.

Another way to get in on the ground floor of a game is to read and reply to Game Proposals, Input, and Advice.  You can also ask for and receive feedback, advice, and counsel about game-related methods and practices (though more general questions might be better asked in Community Chat.)

All these different forums have Notices posted at the top that make for good reading, as they explain what does (and what does not) go on there.

Dig in!  D&D of all stripes, Pathfinder, and Free-form games are abundant here.  Get you some!

In reply to horus (msg # 2):

I was more talking about how people on roll20 don't reply to applications to join a game, I was wondering if I should expect that to not happen here (i.e. if someone says no, they explicitly say "no, you can't join this game")
I believe I already at some point gained adult access.
I'm a college student.

If you don't get a response back and the game starts, give it a day or two and then assume it's a no

That's what I was afraid to hear...I really find it obnoxious when people blow me off instead of just saying no.
Regardless, hopefully that won't be an issue
I've already applied to join a couple games, so

I feel ya.  As a GM, I've taken the time to tell folks whose RTJ I don't accept, and/or folks whom I have had to remove from a game for non-participation.  (It's only happened once so far.)

I take it you requested to join a game and received no response.  Sadly, that likely means the GM did not accept your request to join.  Be guided by what RosstoFalstaff posted earlier.

Best to move on and find a game that's a better fit.  There are literally thousands of them out there.

I actually got an answer just now, to the effect of "Did not get the chance to look at your application yet, sorry for the wait I'll get back to you when I get a chance".

But yeah, I get that

And... our faith in human nature is somewhat restored.  Best of luck with your RTJ, and may the dice always be kind to you.
