Re: OOC

And I am Vestrial.

No, no wait.  That's who I was in my last life.  This time around I think I'm, hmm, the First Governor of Thera.  Yes.  Yes, that's who I am.  Oh, no!  Wait!  Wait!  Can I be Queen Varulus?!

Edit: I hate the windling pictures.

Re: OOC

Windling elementalist, at your service.

When we get to that point, are we doing random attribute, or point based?

Re: OOC

ah... I thougth you just changed the picture but were still going to be a windling (that could just be a close-up where we can't see the wings :)

either way, cool...

(personally, I prefer elves, but that is only due to bad windling experiences :)

Re: OOC

My original character was an elf, then I changed my mind to be a windling, but then I (a) saw the other windling and (b) realized there were no really good windling pics, and so I went back to the elf.  I kept hoping for a blood elf, but, alas... <g>

Re: OOC

Nifty.  Looks like we've got our bases covered magically...and we've got one fightin' type.  A good combo.

Also, does anyone else out there think like I do in saying that Obsidimen really got the short end of the stick as far as disciplines go?  For several, other than the fact that their attribute mods don't naturally lean towards them, I don't really see any reason for restrictions.  Your thoughts, anybody?

Re: OOC

I can see a few reasons for restrictions -- mostly because of the whole "rocks don't fly" thing; but you're right in a few of the restrictions' cases yes.  I generally allow things that make sense IF they make sense -- ie, I had a Nethermancer windling once because of the way he was brought up (and he was scarey).  But Obsidimen Air Sailors? Ah, no. :)

Re: OOC

Yep, I can agree with a few such as Air Sailors and Cavalrymen.  Their weight and density does make them unsuitable for these disciplines.  Still, in the case of Archer and Swordmaster, I personally think that if a windling can be a swordmaster with a little sword then an obsidiman could handle it with a huge one.  The same goes with archer...although it would make more sense to me if they had their own discipline baised around the staff-sling rather than the bow and arrow.  For that matter, I've never understood why both obsidimen and t'skrang were restricted from the beastmaster discipline.  I can understand obsidimen to a certain extent because their biology is so far removed from most animals...but t'skrang would easily handle beastmastering...just specialize in reptilians and amphibians and so on.  What I wish is that the book provided some sort of rationalle for restrictions when they come up.  But anyways, that's just me.

My that was long-winded!

Re: OOC

We had a long discussion about that during the Play Test process; I'm not sure why they finally went with racial restrictions -- last I'd heard LRG didnt want to. <shrugs>

You can add an Ork Thief to your list.  Hello all.

And I think Obsidiman should be Sky Raiders.  Imagine one of those bad boys leaping onto the deck of your ship....

Onto your deck... through your deck... through your hull... into the landscape half a mile below...

Of course, if those ships will hold trolls...

Yeah...and then getting up, dusting himself off, and moving on.  Still...I have to agree that if those airships can hold trolls...mostlike they can hold an obsidiman...I think it's the leaping from one ship to another that might be the problem.
