Loose Threads

As promised, this thread is for anybody to post... whatever kind of OOC reminders they'd like, really, but particularly plot-threads and that sort of thing.  Hopefully this can not only help everybody remember important bits over the kind of time-spread PbP can easily run, but also help me see what things you guys want to follow up on. grin  So anybody should feel free to post their own thoughts - anything they want to pick up on, or any NPCs you want to remember five years from now, or things you find that you want to check up on, or... whatever!

Allies:
Jazciel - Lightbringer contact, possible `patron' in battle against Night Kings
The Ghosts - Leader, Merkel.  Low-level connection, but made a favorable impression

Enemies
Night Kings:
 Omandras: Obsidiman
 Kethra: Ork, Nethermancer, Scorchers
V'kestes: "The Crimson Sail"; Ship Named Dark Tidings. T'skrang.
 Eventide: Windling, slaver
 Thalos: Human
 Thumus: Unknown

Therans:
 Falan: Elven Swordmaster
 Leruthu: Inquisitor
Anubith Re: Unknown; some kind of hunter thing, apparently

Jazciel: "Of the Night Kings, I know far less than I'd like... but far more than they know about me."

"There is Omandras, of course - an Obsidiman, he has been around for.. a terribly long time.  I find evidence of him prior to the Scourge, and at least two breached Kaers that bear his mark.  This would seem to imply that he was able to travel freely during the Scourge, which is in itself disturbing, and unique to Omandras.  Otherwise, the Night Kings, like the Lightbearers, appear to have been somewhat dormant, presumably passing their legacy in secret until the time came to rebuild.  His Discipline is unknown, but hinted reports over time imply he very likely follows more than one - not at all unlikely given the time he has had to study them.  Historically, he has vanished for very long periods and then returned... if he were any other Obsidiman, I would assume this time was spent in his Liferock, but in his case, I'm less certain."  She shrugs.  "Albeit only because of an early theory that the loss of his Liferock, and his Brotherhood, may be what drove him to his current path in the first place."

"Thalos, a Human... Thief Adept, I believe, but this is based more on his evident activities than anything solid.  Humans are always difficult that way - I have some reason to believe he dabbles in Nethermancy, but I don't think it is primary for him.  His history is rife with political interference; assassinations, forgeries, that sort of thing."  She looks at Drovin.  "Your friend in Bartertown, I fear, thwarted his aims one time too many, but I do not know exactly what happened between them.  His current whereabouts are unknown."

Eventide.  A Windling, who is one of the foremost slave traders in Barsaive."  She shakes her head sadly.  "I don't know his past.  I believe he is either a Wind Scout or a Wind Dancer."

V'kestes, a T'skrang who calls herself the Crimson Sail.  She is possibly the most open of the Kings; her ship is Named Dark Tidings, and runs the full length of the Serpent, anywhere between Iopos and the Aras, even along the tributaries.  But she is tied to her ship."  She pauses a moment.  "Her crew is a mixture of sailors and Cadavermen, and after she raids another ship, they string the crew along to trail behind the Dark Tidings until the bones are stripped clean.  Her primary goal, so far as I can determine, is to seek out clutches of T'skrang that have not yet emerged from hibernation, and either corrupt or destroy them. And of course, so long as she is running the route that she does, one who follows the burgeoning political scene will not be too surprised that she is involved in running slaves to Iopos as well.

Kethra, an Orc - Nethermancer, decidedly.  She is currently active to the northeast; she has organized several Scorcher bands, and is using them to raid towns and trade caravans from here to Throal.  I understand the Throalic military has them checked to the east and south, but they've just begun to respond, and, frankly, don't understand what they're dealing with.  It won't be any help to the towns already affected for quite a while.

Kethra has at least three full Scorcher bands drawn to her banner - unless you can convince the Riders to engage them in force, and not," she smiles wryly, "Join them also, then if you are beginning with Kethra, my recommendation would be to learn more about her forces and her tactics now.  Perhaps when we know more, a better plan can be devised."

Loose Threads

A charred journal from the lost Kaer of Tar'Deno whose burn damage matches up suspiciously well to healing scars on Black's hand.

Much of the journal is 1) charred and 2) boring, although it was written by someone named Meyera, evidently a member of the King's Council. The impression is that the King's Council was large - more like a Senate than a cabinet of advisers, and while the Council had some mechanism for overruling the King, they were clearly subordinate. There are some bits that are more legible, and perhaps even interesting, if you're interested in that sort of thing.
