The Soup Kitchen

Bedlam is half dozing in front of the security screens on a hot afternoon a few days later when the attack begins. He see ranks of porkers and their strange hybrid lizard-dogs, motorbikes belching smoke, and a huge track-mounted piece of ancient heavy machinery, a formidable drill mounted on armoured tracks. They will be in the square in scant moments!

Imagine the linked picture, but covered in welded sheet of steel and spikes. http://www.istockphoto.com/sto...vehicles-at-work.php

The others, working outside, can hear the distictive chop-chop of the approaching porker helicopter. Battle is about to be joined, and you must execute you defensive plan swiftly.

Please roll Init and tell me where you are on the map.

She moves inside and takes up a spot to observe the porkers and how they are deploying themselves for the attack.

Re: The Soup Kitchen

Bedlam grabbed his lamppost and charged for the stairs, his thoughts fading in the minds of some of the crew as he moved out of range.

~They're coming from north, west and east, with the heavy equipment on the east. Remember the plan. Focus our defense on the warehouse. They have to come through the doorways where their numbers won't be an advantage. And once the flyer is down, we can fall back across the roof to the kitchen where we repeat the process.~

~Crinkles and T-Bird, you have the warehouse roof. Take out their flyer as soon as possible.~

~Roach, take the alley between the buildings. O16 Be ready to climb the walls when things get tight.~

~Tom, you've got the eastern alley. O22 One or two shots, then fall back to the doorway. U21~

~Flora, you have the north door of the warehouse. O19~

~I'll draw some of them into the dining room, then join you from the back alley. So we'll be out of telepathy range for a while.~

~Socket, lock down the kitchen as soon as you see I'm clear. Let us know if they get to the stairs.~

The giant takes the stairs three at a time, heading for the front door. O06

OOC:
Bedlam:
Remember the plan.
Which, of course, has not been around to be remembered :)
If it's in character, feel free to go your own way.

Basic idea is to have some of the porker forces waste time trying to get through the doors into a mostly empty soup kitchen while we engage the rest of the forces through the bottleneck doorways of the warehouse.

If the GM is feeling generous, Bedlam's priorities for defensive measures are:
1. Soup kitchen doors fully functional.
2. Ballista on the warehouse roof.
3. Sandbags / rubble walls for cover on the roofs.
4. Sandbags / rubble walls on roofs can be pushed/pulled over to block trapdoors.
5. A minion droid in the dining room (to draw fire / delay).

Again, characters are free to diverge if their player feels it is appropriate.

Re: The Soup Kitchen

You get into position just in time. From the east comes the porker heavy drill, roaring like a tornado and belching foul black smoke. Hordes of porker foot soldiers spill into the square with it, the first in line moving to engage Flora and Tom.

From the north come a pack of the porker plizogs - pig/lizard/dog hybrids that have a nasty habbit of running up walls with their gecko feet.

Finally, half a dozen porkers on large low-slung motorbikes cruise into the square and begin the classic "drive around in a wide circle revving their engines intimidatingly" move. The lead porker drives right past Bedlam, but instead of swinging his battleaxe, the porker draws his finger across his throat in the international language for "you're dead".

The helicopter carrying the gun platform is still outside the combat zone but will arrive soon to provide air support...

The bad guys won init, so I gave them a free move into position. Combat begins now with you acting first.

Round 1. Init Order: Delvers, Porkers. Combat map updated.

Regarding the rooftop barricades - anyone next to the X at the roof edge gains cover.

Bedlam quickly scans the Porkers on motorbikes. Ignoring the lead bike, he focuses his attention on fourth rider, the one with a gun drawn instead of a battleaxe.

Round 1:
Standard Action: Mental Push vs (whichever) rider with gun.
Bedlam Jones rolled 13 using 1d20+6. Mental Push vs Warhog w/gun.
That is an attack vs Will.
If successful, the target takes 3 damage (psi) and shoots the rider at M4.

If no riders have guns, target the plizog at I11 to attack the plizog at H10.

The giant then steps back into the kitchen and closes the front door.

Move Action: Shift to P06 (does not provoke AoO)
Minor Action: close door.

Re: The Soup Kitchen

In short order the crowd of oncoming porkers is hit with a wave of psychic despair, a bowel-churning sonic assault and finally an exploding compost heap that sends red-hot bits of fibrous matter scything through the ranks. Tom shotgun blast seems almost tame in comparison, especially as it doesn't hit anything. Bedlam's psychic attack also falls short.

Fourteen porkers are send to the big bacon sandwich in the sky, while a half dozen others are wounded. The bits of Flora swiftly twist themselves into the life-giving earth, looking for a chance to sprout...

Flora, you must make a standard save every round to return i.e. 10+ on d20. This round you missed.

The six porkers than managed to dodge the explosion rush inside the warehouse. Outside, two stragglers head for Tom, and one for Roach.

Roach tries to grab one straggler, but the slipper pig is hard to hold. Instead, the porker lashes Roach with a length of chain, pulling the flaming roach off the wall and into the alley.

5HP damage Roach and you are now at O16.

Thunderbid perches triumphantly on the top of the drill as it continues to move forward, rocked somewhat by the blast. The porkers are too far down to reach him, but three plizogs, directed by their trainer (I13) bound up to  the roof beside him. One bites Thunderbird's wing, but the other plizogs miss as the Servo-Assist Armor kicks in, jerking the bird out of harms way.

7HP damage Thunderbird. BTW you can see the helicopter and dangling gun platform. It will arrive next round, around 30 squares vertically above you i.e. you will need 3 or 4 rounds to climb above it.

The other plizog trainer sends his hunters up the side of the warehouse to the roof where Crinkles waits. As they scramble over the makeshift sandbags, two of them manage to snap at the yeti. One of them connects.

3HP damage Crinkles.

Three bikers continue to circle the square. The last three park their bikes and start hacking at the front door with their battleaxes.

Two porkers confront Tom, lashing out with their chains. Tom's tough skin protects him from serious damage.

1HP damage for Tom.

Round 2. Combat map updated. Init Order: Party, Porkers. BTW, for your Init you will act in posting order to simplify things.

Crinkles' ray of light scorches four of the plizogs, but one manages to duck back over the edge of the roof and dodge the damage.

Roach scorches the porker in front of hi, which is already roasting in the fiery roaches aura. It's almost down.

Now the porkers attack. The three plizogs on the cab of the drill, deprived of Thunderbird's tasty legs, are directed by their handler to mob Roach. They use the walls, two attacking him from each side and one from behind, while the embattled porker in front gets in a good one with his length of chain.

However, the sparlking, shimmering shield that Roach has manifested absorbs around half of the punishment.

14 HP damage Roach.

Five plizogs mob Crinkles, but the yeti heroically fends them off, only suffering a nip on the leg.

4HP damage Crinkles.

Crusty Tom is hit by a chain flail once more.

6HP damage Tom.

The drill moves up next to the Soup Kitchen, flanked by four porkers. The engine roars and belches smoke as the drill starts digging its way through the wall.

The three bikers at the front door continue smashing at it with their axes. They will soon be inside...

The three bikers still on their  hogs complete one more circuit of the square and then roar off round the back alley.

The gun platform, dangling below a large military helicopter, moves into range. Next round anyone outside may be subject to a hail of bullets.

Round 3. Combat map updated. Init Order: Party, Porkers. NB If I don't mention your attacks, they missed.

Roach and Crinkles both wound one of the plizogs, but the weight of numbers bears both of the stalwart fighters down...

Crinkles and Roach, you are both on -ve HPs! Make a Death Save every round, 10+ is pass, natural 20 is stabilise and 3 fails is death. Would either of you like to take over Crusty for the rest of the battle? Since Roach has mother-in-law issues perhaps you could do the duty Crinkles.

Thubderbird flies ever higher. Unfortunately he is spotted by the gunner, who directs a hail of bullets in the bird's direction. Luckily, after the first bullet hits, Thunderbird's armour jerks him out of harms way.

1HP damage Thunderbird.

The drill starts hammering into the Soup Kitchen in earnest. A few more seconds it will have made a big enough hole to allow the porkers inside!

Crusty hears Bedlam's warning to retreat, but almost runs into a porker on a hog roaring towards him in the other direction.

One of the boss porkers stops off at the back door and starts bashing it with his battleaxe. The front door will be matchsticks next round from the other three bosses doing the same thing.

Luckily Flora reappears at the door to the warehouse. Above her the porkers are on the catwalk, trying to force open the trapdoor to the roof.

Round 4. Combat map updated. Init Order: Party, Porkers.

Something I forgot to mention. The cook has a one off defence, can flood the front area of the Soup Kitchen with knockout gas. Will pretty much put asleep anyone inside, but only is active for one round.

Bedlam's mental push causes one of the plizogs to turn on its neighbor. The two animals, out of sight of their handler, start fighting.

Moved you to R19 as the ballista takes up a whole square.

Flora rushes out and swings at the porker that just took out Roach, but her blow goes wide.

Thunderbird keeps on flying up, the gunner tracking him with a trail of bullets that just graze his tail feathers.

Survive next round and your in position!

Tom fires his shotgun at the porker boss powering towards him, but the wily pig swerves at the last moment and the pellets go wide.

Crinkles and Roach lie oozing from their many wounds.

One strike each, 2 left.

The drill breaks through the Soup Kitchen wall, leaving a gaping hole, and with a crackle and deafening sceech of feedback the leader of the assault sitting in the cab of the drill switches on his loudhailer.

"Attention Petrolheads! Form up and execute operation Housewarming"

The two porkers at the rear of the drill open a large freezer-sized pannier, and proceed to take out two large jerry cans. The six porkers inside the warehouse double time it outside and queue up for one of their own! Things might be getting hot soon...

The two plizog handlers direct their charges on Flora. Three attack from above on the wall, three drop down on the plaza next to her. The giant plant is bitten by half the plizogs and raked by the porker's chain.

You took 27 damage Flora and are bloodied.

The lead biker rams his hog into Tom, who activates his alpha tech shield at the last moment. The shield absorbs the motorbike's momentum and the porker boss sails over Tom's head to crash into the pair of porkers coming round the corner.

The second biker pulls up and heads back to his buddy hacking at the back door. The three boss porkers at the front door smash it open just after the drill collapses the wall.

Apologies for the delay! Round 5. Combat map updated. Init Order: Party, Porkers. Take a look at the map, have differentiated some of the porkers. Crusty, go ahead and post for Tom from now on

Re: The Soup Kitchen

Taking advantage of his invisibility and the conflict between the two plizogs remaining on the roof, Bedlam moves around the ballista. Stopping on the trapdoor he quickly kneels to see what he can do to stabilize the fallen yeti. ~Hope you have sterile fur, big guy.~

About the time he finishes his ministrations there is a huge explosion from the square below. Fortunately (hopefully?) the giant is shielded from Flora's blast by the warehouse wall. As he picks up his lamppost and rises to his feet he realizes the plizogs can now see him.

OOC: Round 5
Move to P19 (via Q20)
Standard (and minor) action: Science skill to stabilize Crinkles. (p. 23 rulebook)
Bedlam Jones rolled 21 using 1d20+12. Science Check to stabilize Crinkles.
Note: Bedlam's current alpha mutation is "Know-It-All" giving him +10 on science checks and making him even more obnoxiously smarmy.

Re: The Soup Kitchen

Flora explodes in an even more powerful blast. Anyone who doesn't duck in time is scythed out of existence. The wall next to Flora is blasted apart, and standing on the roof Bedlam feels the building lurch alarmingly.

The explosion kills lots of porkers but only two plizogs were slow enough to get caught in the blast. It also blew the side armour from the mechanical drill, revealing the porker leader, Boss Hog!

The blast also catches Roach, pushing him further towards death...

That's one more strike, you are on 2 out of 3. However, if you strike out you have one last racial power this time: Roachlike Survival. You need to roll 20, add you level to the roll. If you make it, you are back to zero strikes, if you fail you are dead.

Crusty fires his shotgun at point blank range and catches the porker boss square in the chest.

Thunderbird is winged by the machine gun, but again his armour jerks the bird out of the way of the stream of bullets. Now he is out of range of the guns and soon will be in a position to attack

1HP damage. Next round you can try and throw you junk to foul the rotors. You need to hit AC15, and have three pieces of junk. Good luck!

Bedlam manages to stabilise Crinkles, but as soon as he re-appears the two plizogs nearby stop fighting an eye him hungrily.

No more rolls necessary Crinkles, unless the building collapses or something... ;)

Now the porkers act. Boss Hog backs up the drill and jumps out. He s a huge, corpulent pig of a porker, weighed down with armour and weapons, which include a chainsaw and flamethrower. "STAY AWAY FROM THAT PLANT!" he bellows.

The boss porkers at the back door continue battering it - they are almost through. The three at the busted front door rush in and begin hacking at the serving hatch in the dining room.

The few surviving porkers outside race to the back of the drill, where they start to pick up jerry cans from the stash in the pannier.

The boss porker fighting Crusty gets in a good hit with his battleaxe, but Crusty's Omega Tech shield, wielded by his two stubby tentacles, absorbs with blow without shorting out.

Both the plizogs fighting Bedlam find gaps in his armour and take a bite of meat each. Then two more plizogs join them, attracted by the sound of combat.

14HP damage Bedlam.

Round 6. Combat map updated. Init Order: Party, Porkers.

Realizing he doesn't want to be surrounded by a bunch of slobbering, fanged plizogs, Bedlam touches a button on his belt. There is a whiff of ozone and the crackle of electricity as his image flickers and then vanishes.

"Try to bite this, little doggies," he laughs, and the whoosh of a heavy lamppost sweeps over the gathered plizogs. This is followed by the sound of giant footsteps retreating across the roof.

Thunderbird's cast ricochets harmlessly off the copter's blades. It starts to gain height, forcing Thunderbird to follow.

You can attack again Thunderbird.

Bedlam kills two of the plizogs outright. The other two slink back to their trainer when the giant disappears into thin air.

Tom trades blows with a porker boss, sledgehammer against axe. Tom gets in a good one and dodges the porker's response.

Four porkers have grabbed jerry cans. Two are inside the soup kitchen waiting for the porker bosses to axe open the serving hatch. Two more stand on the rubble of the wall.

Meanwhile at the back door the porkers bosses smash it open, only to reveal a small vestibule and another door. The first porker piles inside and hammers away.

Boss Hog equips his monstrous flamethrower and lights the pilot light...

OOC: Round 7
Move: to R20
Minor: Change Weapons

If he can see Boss Hog from the rooftop, he takes the shot.

If he does not have an angle on Boss Hog, but the helicopter is in range, he takes the shot.

If the helicopter is still out of range he crouches down, grabs his lamp post and moves up to where he can sneak a peak over the sandbags into the courtyard. (Stealth)

Bedlam Jones rolled 6 using 1d20. Some sort of action in Rnd 7.

Don't know what the mods are for firing the ballista, but figure that'll miss everything.

If it's a Stealth roll, the total is 10, plus any bonuses for concealment.

Re: The Soup Kitchen

The ballista is raised high enough for Bedlam to draw a bead on Boss Hog, but sadly the heavy bolt flies right over his head. With a whistle, the plizog trainer sends his four plizgos up the wall to the roof. Two have enough time left to attack, but neither hits.

Boss Hog gives a roar of rage and frustration. Most of his soldiers are dead or unconscious, and there isn't even an enemy in range. Then he notices the thousands of shoots sprouting where Flora last exploded. With an evil grin he stalks over and waits for the plant-lady to reform, revving his chainsaw impatiently.

Thunderbird misses the rotors once again as the copter slews to one side; the gun platform underneath is swinging about too much to target anyone on the ground.

Crusty gets in another meaty thwack with his sledgehammer, and the porker boss totally fluffs his riposte.

In the underground control room, Gasket sees the porkers about to break in to the Soup Kitchen proper. Knowing that once they are inside nothing will stop them trashing the place, he activates the defensive knockout gas front and back. The Five porkers bosses and four foot soldiers carrying jerry cans all slip into a dreamless slumber.

Roach Coach goes the way of all flesh and expires, his flame going out forever.

Bedlam takes down one plizog, but the other three have him at bay. The giant takes another bite on the leg.

3HP Damage Bedlam.

Meanwhile, one boss is duking it out with Tom, who gets in another good blow with his sledgehammer while dodging the axe once again.

Re: The Soup Kitchen

You remember a bright light... and then you regain consciousness in the warehouse next to the soup kitchen with Crusty Tom and Gasket hovering anxiously nearby. The front half of the warehouse has collapsed and the air is thick with foul-smelling smoke, for reasons that soon become apparent when Tom fills you on in recent events.

It seems that Socket, once he saw that Boss Hog had penetrated the Soup Kitchen's inner defences and was preparing to torch the building, buggered off through the escape tunnel after setting the self destruct sequence. Thirty seconds later the barrels of explosive buried under the cellar went off while Boss Hog was merrily dousing the kitchen in petrol. The whole place went up like a box of firecrackers, incinerating all the porkers sleeping inside as well as the hapless plizog-handler who was sent in to get them. The blast collapsed the front of the warehouse, sent Bedlam and Crinkles tumbling to the ground in a pile of rubble and blasted Thunderbird across the plaza. Tom, who managed to heroically take down two more porkers and the remaining plizogs, recovered the bodies and was preparing to bury them when Gasket turned up. He was hiding out in the escape tunnel panic room and emerged from a secret trapdoor nearby, with a backpack full of advanced medical tech. Roach Coach was too far gone to revive, and Flora had totally decomposed, but the rest of you were brought back from the brink.

"Funny thing is there's a funny-looking pod growing like crazy where Flora died. Perhaps she seeded herself" Tom finishes.

Ophelia had followed the smoke and was now looking down on chaos and devastation. One thing you had to give porkers credit for when they threw a party they really threw a party.

Below her she watched a few survivors moving about, she noticed a bird man stand and stagger off looking for something in the rubble and a large man talking to a smaller person.

Her yellow cat eyes were studying them accessing if they were approachable. Then again anyone who took on a porker pack and survived were definitely people to know.

She dropped off the building with all the grace of a cat, which was not too far off the mark. And crossed the broken ground towards the collapsed warehouse building and the survivors.

She moved with an unhurried grace and agility her long mane of red brown hair blowing out gently in the breeze. She had leather on covering her athletic looking body hugging it in all the right places but allowing her ease of movement. Across her back was a sword and strapped to her left side a holster with what looked to be a hand crossbow. Slung across her shoulder and hanging down her right side was a leather hold all that though full seemed to be light enough so as to not hinder her movements.

As she drew near she stopped "hey you in the warehouse I wish to enter .... I mean you no harm and I might be able to help you" she shouted in a clear voice and then waited for a reply

"Name's Bedlam," he says, offering a hand to the felinoid. "Porkers were after the soup kitchen. It was a sweet setup. Guess nobody gets it now."

Bedlam glances at Crinkles and Thunderbird.

The giant moves to the front of the warehouse before displaying a sardonic grin.

"Least I don't have to duck to go outside anymore."

The grin vanishes when he sees the seed pod. "Well, sis, whatcha got planned now? Guess you can stay out here in the sun for a bit longer."

"Right," he says, looking back at the others. "Nuff rest for now. Let's grab what we can and get hid."

"Ophelia, was it?" the giant turns his gaze to the felinoid. She gets the distinctly uncomfortable sensation of being scrutinized on a very deep level.

The next few days are spend resting up in the safe room, scavenging all you can from the dead porkers, keeping an eye on the Flora pod and studying to the Cook's notes.

Bedlam, Thunderbird and Crinkles level up please. Once you have rested up, the supplies at the safe room will be exhausted. You can start a new delve healed of all you wounds, but after the next adventure to will need to return to Compton as usual. I will shortly be updating the Maps and Rumours thread with all you have learned from the Cook.

Re: The Soup Kitchen

The party keep a close watch on the Flora pod and, after a short gestation, it hatches. Luckily, Crusty, who was on guard duty at the time, managed to fetch the others from their underground hidey-hole just as the pod was fully opening. Inside the fibrous interior is another plant looking much like her mother, but smaller. The newborn sits up and, with the softest of sighs, a fine network of tendrils unfurls, extending out several metres from her body in all directions...

Still got a day's work on the Maps thread so I thought you could roleplay this while you wait :)

She rose up and flicked her long feelers out to touch those around her as the other "arms" reached down to touch the remains of what had been flora, with a wrench she undid the armor and began to dress in it, "Mine now" it was a bit surprising since this new plant woman was shorter then flora the armor managed to fit her close enough for protection. The arms/feelers worked their way around and drug out the heavy maul, she lifted it with ease and tested its weight before proclaiming softly, "Mine also".

This version is only around 6' but shows signs of being tough and Ophelia can sense Rose has strong mental powers that is just now beginning to show up. She looks over the wreck of the old kitchen and shivers at the idea of cooking plants to feed others.

She works the ballista down to work for her, (she has a high mechanical ability) to make a heavy crossbow.(DM approved).

ZE-5 rolled into the opening dressed in its usual get-up. A long to the ground, brown trench coat, and a blue, wide-brimmed fedora hat. The trench coat swayed in the wind making it seem that whoever wore the coat was very malnourished. As it stopped several metallic orbs rolled from underneath the coat. The orbs had mirror finish to them with a hue of blue. The orbs stopped five feet away from the figure, spheres began flashing and humming in unison.
"Nought-Phelia?", came an inquisitive voice from within the coat. The voice sounded metallic, scratchy, and too numerous?!

She glanced at the robot man and stared at the duster and hat, before shrugging her vines around and nodded once at the metal man with neither smile or frown. "Now, what do Floras friends do?, go kill more porkers?"...yes that was the name flora used for the fat pig like beings.

This happens over and over, until Z makes a full 360 degrees turn. "We are Z. You spend one more day gathering up all the salvage from the battle, piles of armour, guns and ammo and lots of spare parts that survived the destruction of your hideout. You load the loot onto your cart until it cannot carry any more. Sadly, Ordus Rattus, who declined to stay at the Soup Kitchen, took his beast of burden with him. You'll have to haul it yourselves.

Bedlam addresses the new party. "I think we need to bank this haul back in Compton. Tom and Socket will have a big enough share to start their business, and the rest of us will be set up for years more delving. We're going to need the two strongest to pull that cart. I reckon myself and Crinkles can handle that, the rest of you keep your eyes open. Sounds like a plan?"

She looked wide eyed at the big man who somehow she knew was friends with her host plant and slowly nodded, though she was not at all sure about these new friends. She could guess that the dead bloated corpse's were the bad guy...er pigs and those still here were the good guys, was she a good girl or bad girl?.

She looked at the machine with a detached stare at the metal parts and how everything fit together into a mobile machine. Walking over she looked at the controls and went over how everything was suppose to work and she straddled the seat of the heavy machine and turned this switch to the center and took a second to find the button on the handle bars which she pressed down on. A sharp whine began as the starter pushed the machine forward a step before she let go the button.

Pausing she worked thru what she had already figured out about the motorcycle and glanced to the side to see a short lever on its left hand side..Transmission lever, so there should be a clutch near the rider. She could see the two levers under the handlebars, she pulled one back and tried the starter again. This time the engine started up and did not move, nodding to herself she began playing with the gears to see which way should be the first gear. Pulling the clutch tight she pressed down with her toe on her boot and slowly let out the clutch with a tiny bit of throttle and the bike began to roll slowly forward. Now she knew that she would have the hang of how this machine worked by the time they reached this compton.

All were neatly stacked, attached to each other in a manner bones and muscles would have been in a human body. It effortlessly stepped over and sat on top of the motorcycle. The creature started to hum, spheres detaching themselves from the skeleton and rolling into the depths of the bike. With only partial lower torso remaining rest of the spheres started attaching themselves over the controls of the vehicle.
"All readings nominal, temperature nominal", came a voice from within the motorcycle. "Clutch check", the bike roared up, "throttle check" and moved some distance before braking hard, "brakes check".
"We believe that this vehicle can be safely delivered to our destination, proceeding".

The dabber looks disappointed that you have not noticed the two dozen well-armed dabbers lining the rooftops on either side that now reveal themselves. Even Thunderbird, flying a dozen metres up, was looking somewhere else entirely. Hands open, the dabber steps up to Bedlam.

"Good work with the porkers, I must say. Shame about the Kitchen, but maybe it's for the best. Anyway, good to see you don't have our missing comrade with you. He's worth a lot to us, he is. Any you never know when you might need a friend" continues the dabber, eying your new-found wealth.

The look of consternation on Bedlam's face is quickly replaced with a hearty laugh.

Bedlam's thoughts to the crew carry a mix of amused sarcasm. ~Nice work, scouts. And just because they are small, cute and fuzzy does not mean they are not dangerous.~

"Greetings, Big Tail," the giant slings the lamppost onto his back before moving forward, also open-handed, to meet the dabber. "It is always a good day when one is surrounded by... friends."

"I am particularly pleased," he continues, significantly eying the dabber cohort before returning his focus to the Big Tail. "That you recalled your pledge meet us on our way back to Compton. I would like to recognize our... friendship... with a few tokens."

"If I may?" Bedlam indicates he wants to get something from the cart.

When the Big Tail gives a nod, the giant goes back to the cart to retrieve a bulky parcel, wrapped in a singed and stained tablecloth. Bringing it forward, he sets it down in the road before the dabber and opens it. In addition to various electronic components and shiny kitchen utensils the jumbled pile includes the boss porker's flamethrower and several gas masks.

"And for you, especially..." Bedlam takes a small bundle from his belt. It clinks pleasantly in the palm of his large hand as he unties the string which binds it. Unfolding the cloth he reveals a half dozen unspent rounds from the porker gun platform, the lens of a security camera, and a small energy cell.

Re: The Soup Kitchen

Big Tail takes Bedlam's gifts, making sure the dabbers lining the roof get a good look.

"We accept your unexpected and generous gifts with thanks, friend. Stay safe, and if you need to contact us we usually have someone watching this stretch of road, just wait over by the old fire station there and we'll find you"

Big Tail gives Bedlam and knowing wink and the dabbers melt back into the scenery. The rest of the journey to Compton is without incident.
