"Yes but he decided to take a flamethrower to me after I took out his helo. Do you know how long its going to be before I can fly again?" Thunderbird says. "What is so important that he threw all of his buddies at this place trying to take it?" he asks, wonder what he go himself into.

Socket pipes up. "Anyway, we can stay in the panic room for a few days and rest up. I've got some food, my tools, and the Cook's files. You'll need 'em now after what you did to the piggies, you have to start getting clued up on the power bases around here. Hate to say goodbye, but Tom and I decided we're going into business back in Compton. I don't want to go back to my so-called brother dabbers, and I think he's had his fill of excitement"

Re: The Soup Kitchen

Bedlam rolls to his side and studies the new felinoid arrival before nodding a greeting.

When Socket mentions the panic room the giant frowns, then carefully climbs to his feet.

"Yep," he sighs. "Better get out of sight before the rest of the Sprawl comes a-lookin'. We're in no condition for another fight."

"Name's Bedlam," he says, offering a hand to the felinoid. "Porkers were after the soup kitchen. It was a sweet setup. Guess nobody gets it now."

Bedlam glances at Crinkles and Thunderbird.

The giant moves to the front of the warehouse before displaying a sardonic grin.

"Least I don't have to duck to go outside anymore."

The grin vanishes when he sees the seed pod. "Well, sis, whatcha got planned now? Guess you can stay out here in the sun for a bit longer."

"Right," he says, looking back at the others. "Nuff rest for now. Let's grab what we can and get hid."

"Ophelia, was it?" the giant turns his gaze to the felinoid. She gets the distinctly uncomfortable sensation of being scrutinized on a very deep level.

" Thank you for the welcome" reply Ophelia as she took the large man's hand.

"Now then lets see what we can do to collect salvage from the battle site." with that she dropped her duffle bag and rolled up her sleeves and started to look round for anything useful

Re: The Soup Kitchen

The next few days are spend resting up in the safe room, scavenging all you can from the dead porkers, keeping an eye on the Flora pod and studying to the Cook's notes.

Bedlam, Thunderbird and Crinkles level up please. Once you have rested up, the supplies at the safe room will be exhausted. You can start a new delve healed of all you wounds, but after the next adventure to will need to return to Compton as usual. I will shortly be updating the Maps and Rumours thread with all you have learned from the Cook.

Re: The Soup Kitchen

The party keep a close watch on the Flora pod and, after a short gestation, it hatches. Luckily, Crusty, who was on guard duty at the time, managed to fetch the others from their underground hidey-hole just as the pod was fully opening. Inside the fibrous interior is another plant looking much like her mother, but smaller. The newborn sits up and, with the softest of sighs, a fine network of tendrils unfurls, extending out several metres from her body in all directions...

Still got a day's work on the Maps thread so I thought you could roleplay this while you wait :)

Re: The Soup Kitchen

The greenish skinned young girl looked around the area as she took in the others standing around her, if she felt threatened she did not show it but just watched and enjoyed the feeling of the sun on her body. The long tendrils seemed to coil and flex with a snakes easy of contortions and one reached out towards the stocky being there
(Crusty) and lightly touched his leg as if curious what it was.

 "Who?"

Ophelia moved slowly over to the pod and pulled out her sleeping blanket from her pack. Crouching down next to the young girl.

" hello there young one. Welcome to the world" with that she gently wrapped the blanket round her young shoulders

She felt a slight touch of fear as one of them placed a thing on her shoulders and words that he felt she should know but at the moment was working her way thru the strange sounds. Vaguely she felt she should know some of these new beings who seemed strange but the threat of danger had not blossomed yet for her to respond to that threat.

 "Who is flora?"

Re: The Soup Kitchen

She rose up and flicked her long feelers out to touch those around her as the other "arms" reached down to touch the remains of what had been flora, with a wrench she undid the armor and began to dress in it, "Mine now" it was a bit surprising since this new plant woman was shorter then flora the armor managed to fit her close enough for protection. The arms/feelers worked their way around and drug out the heavy maul, she lifted it with ease and tested its weight before proclaiming softly, "Mine also".

This version is only around 6' but shows signs of being tough and Ophelia can sense Rose has strong mental powers that is just now beginning to show up. She looks over the wreck of the old kitchen and shivers at the idea of cooking plants to feed others.

She works the ballista down to work for her, (she has a high mechanical ability) to make a heavy crossbow.(DM approved).

Ooc: So where is Bedlam?.

Re: The Soup Kitchen

Ophelia stepped back while the others attention was on rose. She moved to the opening to the building where they were camped and waved at someone or something across the street. Stepping back in

" guys I have something to say" she said her hand resting on the pommel of her sword not knowing how they would take what she was going to say next " before we go any further I have a confession to make. I haven't been totally honest. My team were attacked by the porkers a few weeks ago but I wasn't the only one that survived. My friend Z made it to. I came down here to investigate who you were and if we could trust you all. My friend is not, shoal we say, human looking" she chuckles slightly at what she'd just said

" anyway I had a friend to keep safe but I feel you are of no threat to us so I have just signalled Z to come out of hiding. I ask, no I plead to you to allow him to join the group" she said before waiting for their reaction

Re: The Soup Kitchen

ZE-5 rolled into the opening dressed in its usual get-up. A long to the ground, brown trench coat, and a blue, wide-brimmed fedora hat. The trench coat swayed in the wind making it seem that whoever wore the coat was very malnourished. As it stopped several metallic orbs rolled from underneath the coat. The orbs had mirror finish to them with a hue of blue. The orbs stopped five feet away from the figure, spheres began flashing and humming in unison.
"Nought-Phelia?", came an inquisitive voice from within the coat. The voice sounded metallic, scratchy, and too numerous?!

"My friend" replyed the felinoid in a tender voice "These good people here have seen off the porkers that killed our family.... The enemy of our enemy is our friends as they say."

She turned still with hand on hilt waiting for the others to decide if her friend would be allowed to join the group

Re: The Soup Kitchen

She had removed all of Floras equipment and found it fit somewhat close enough for her use, she did seem to have somehow inherited Floras knowledge of how things work in this strange new world of strange beings. Still she knew that they were friends of flora, so perhaps they were here friends also.

"Flora friends..is friends of Rose now..is so?, if so then Rose is not Flora but stem of stem, understand?. I think that you fought for that ruined building, why?, not so good i think."

She glanced at the robot man and stared at the duster and hat, before shrugging her vines around and nodded once at the metal man with neither smile or frown. "Now, what do Floras friends do?, go kill more porkers?"...yes that was the name flora used for the fat pig like beings.

"In the words of a movie that I saw years ago that one of the scientist liked watching over and over, We need the dues". Thunderbird says to the new team members, still a raw recruit himself.

Thunderbird looks around the building for some paint and paints on a figure of a helicopter with an "X" over it on his man-portable laser. After that, he pulls out the battery, take his fingers and starts to recharge the weapon for the next battle.

Z rolls through the opening and to where the group is. Approaching the spheres, they disappear into the coat. Collar of the coat is raised just so, it obstructs any view of the lower portion of the creature's face. Two cold, blue eyes can be seen peering from underneath the fedora, one of the eyes blink and switches to red. It blinks once more, producing a flash. This happens over and over, until Z makes a full 360 degrees turn. "We are Z. Majority had been reached. 89% of us are pleased to meet you, 5% abstained, 6% were against current ro...rou...route of ch-choice", previously heard metallic voice declares. A smaller, higher pitched voice retorts, "The results had been rounded to the nearest whole number".

Not sure if the metal robot is a friend of Flora or not she keeps her distance as she begins to look around the damaged porker vehicles, looking for any that might be repaired to running again.

Re: The Soup Kitchen

You spend one more day gathering up all the salvage from the battle, piles of armour, guns and ammo and lots of spare parts that survived the destruction of your hideout. You load the loot onto your cart until it cannot carry any more. Sadly, Ordus Rattus, who declined to stay at the Soup Kitchen, took his beast of burden with him. You'll have to haul it yourselves.

Bedlam addresses the new party. "I think we need to bank this haul back in Compton. Tom and Socket will have a big enough share to start their business, and the rest of us will be set up for years more delving. We're going to need the two strongest to pull that cart. I reckon myself and Crinkles can handle that, the rest of you keep your eyes open. Sounds like a plan?"

Rose, make a Mechanics roll for the modifications you wanted.
