Re: The Sprawl Delve #4

The Ripper explodes with a bright white glare. Bedlam dives behind a wall just in time, as it absorbs most of the blast and is blown away from the detonation, along with Bedlam. Rose and Crinkles are further out, but fail to react in time and take the full force of the blast. Even Thunderbird, high in the sky, takes a burst of microwave radiation.

When the dust clears half the block has been leveled and a deep crater is all that's left of the Reaper. Everyone walks away except Crinkles, who is in dire need of medical attention

Re: The Sprawl Delve #4

She wonders why the floor is on the ceiling as she lays in pain on the floor. Everything aches and demands comfort which was being denied.

Still she roiled over and came to the delightful discovery that she was on the floor and it was quiet...very quiet.

Clamping her mouth she struggled to sit up and then satisfied she was not bleeding to death she fought to stand up.

Mouthing to any other person she might see that she did not feel so good, what with the multitude of cuts and abrasions and tears in her uniform.

Blinking she recognized that big hammer looking thing on the ground as her's. she smiled at such bright observation and picked it up.

Now we were chasing a big cyber-ed creature...but she had no idea where it had gotten off to. she thought to herself but where were the others?.

Struggling to stay in the air, Thunderbird headed to help Crinkles. Landing next to him, a shock jumped from his finger tip to his fallen friend.

Bedlam struggles to clear his head and focus his thoughts.

~How is everyone? Who is missing? Regroup near the river if you can.~

The giant struggles out from under the bricks and dust. Surveying the devastation he starts searching for the rest of the crew.

Thunderbird's shock jump-starts Crinkle's heart, and in a few minutes the yeti is fit to stand up, albeit bloodied and trembling.

It seemed that everything hurt but while she moved slow, at least she was still moving despite all the bruises and abrasions covering her body.

She heard the message from Bedlam and wanted to yell at him for rushing but instead she just sent "Yah,yah. Give me a few moments. I am kinda roughed up at the moment."

Crinkles makes his way through the rubble toward where everyone else is.  He stumbles a lot more than he should, and he has a hard time keeping up any meaningful pace.

"I see that," the giant's grin shows through a heavily dusted mat of fur.

"But holding on to his thigh like that may do more to slow him down. Better let someone his own size take over," Bedlam moves to replace Thunderbird in supporting Crinkles.

"Why don't you get airborne and scout while we find someplace to hole up and lick our wounds. Those explosions are sure to bring some scavengers."

She was not moving very fast but she hobbled over to the big hole in the ground where the monster blew up. She looks around for any parts or items that may have survived the explosion.

She needed to find something for all the pain and danger they had gone thru with this thing that really should not have been alive at all.

"Looking for parts or somethings that may have survived the blast."

Thunderbird took to the sky when Bedlam helped Crinkles, scouting the area as the noise might have attracted unwanted attention. Once in the air, the dust from the explosion was making it hard to see.

Re: The Sprawl Delve #4

Most of the structures in the Riverside zone are boarded up tight to restrain the Ripper, but the explosion half demolished a few buildings, and a couple of them look safe enough to shelter in. With half the walls missing it won't be particularly defensible, however...

Re: The Sprawl Delve #4

She felt fairly sure that the monster was too far gone for any parts of it to be useful but since some of the blocking structures were destroyed enough for her to enter she takes the time to look around the rubble for any thing valuable for the group or her to be use able.

"There maybe something valuable in the rubble of these buildings, so i am going to have a look see before we leave this area."

Bedlam got Crinkles stashed in one of the newly opened buildings. With Rose scrounging and Thunderbird watching, the giant went to retrieve the crew's carts and kit. He pondered the destructive endings of so many of their projects. ~Hard to make a living when all the goods keep exploding. Better check in with the Skeeth before someone else claims credit for the Ripper.~

By the time Bedlam pulls the second handcart back to where Crinkles is resting the yeti is ready to get moving.

"Glad you're feeling better," he grins. "Leave the carts here for a bit. Let's join Rose in looking around for swag or interesting bits exposed by the blasts. Thunderbird has a high lookout, but we should be on watch, too."

Re: The Sprawl Delve #4

Bedlam hits the jackpot. The explosion has uncovered a sealed room piled high with supplies, energy cells, nutrition packs, tools packed in oil, hand-cranked charges and vital spare parts of all description. Even if some of the hoard has been damaged by the collapsing wall, it is still a major find.

Then your scouts see a small but heavily armed band of the Red Guard approaching!

Unless he gets more specific orders, Crinkles starts indiscriminately grabbing supplies and putting them in the cart.  For the moment he is unaware of the approaching Red Guards.

Since she was first into the room she was surprised when Bedlam found the small hidden room with all kinds of supplies. Not one to be wasteful she begins to shift some of the power cells  and the tools and vital parts into the cart but stops when she see's the red soldiers marching towards them.

She shifts some tools and parts into her pack along with one of the power converters.

"We got company, that just decided to show up after the ripper is dead."

"Crinkles, come with me. Let's see if we can deflect the guard before they see what we have found. Rose, gather up the shiny, but stay out of sight."

Bedlam moves to greet the approaching band of Red Guard.

~Thunderbird, make sure the Guard see you. Then fly down to me. Tell me you think you found something. Try to contain your excitement, so the Guard think it is important. We will lead them away.~

She nodded but kept her silence. If the red guard thought they were going to waltz in and take credit for killing the subway monster and grab any loot then they were worse then the monster.

Turning she continued piling up the good stuff and shoving it under stairs or places not easy to see.

Once she had several sacks of loot she covered it as good as she could.

Turning around she stayed hidden but watched Bedlam to see what was going to happen.

The Red Guard patrol consists of half a dozen hoops, heavily armed and well-equipped. The leader looks at Bedlam's suspiciously, and is about to speak when Thunderbird arrives. However, the hawkoid's news seems of little interest,

"Wait! You are the ones who killed the Cook. What happened here?" he asks, nodding at the plume of black smoke above the Ripper's lair a few blocks away.
