Sembia: Rules and Guidelines

Well met, dear travelers, and welcome to the merchant kingdom of Sembia.  Strategically situated on the northwestern shores of the Sea of Fallen Stars, the cities and villages of Sembia straddle a major supply route between western and eastern Faerûn.  The adventures to be found in Sembia are perhaps more subtle and nuanced than those found elsewhere in the Realms, but that only means the dangers are more difficult to spot as well!

Herein you will find some notes to help you get started:

Character creation guidelines

As a game running within the Realms of Adventure, all standard creation guidelines found here

Posting guidelines and rate

(Thank you, DM BadCatMan)

Please post regularly and often. Even if your character is waiting patiently without speaking or acting, please post something to that effect so we all know it and need not wait on you.

During the game, and especially in combat, please regularly include the effects of spells and special abilities that affect your character in your posts so that I can easily find and remember them. These can be in a private line, or public if they affect other players. Please update this information every round.

Most battles and important events will use a battle map of some kind. Please remember to include co-ordinates when moving around, attacking, or casting spells. Ordinary pen-and-paper D&D rules are in effect.

In general, I would ask for at least 1 post per day during the week and I will attempt to do the same.  I recognize that for many of us, weekends are filled with activities which might preclude posting and am not concerned with weekend/holiday posting.

Final Thought

In the interest of full disclosure, it has been many years since I have run a Realms campaign (think 2e here).  I am not fully versed in the history as are the other excellent DMs here.  I don't read the novels and never will.  If I make a mistake of some sort, be gentle with me and I will do my best to correct it.  It is my goal to have a long-running game with engaged players.

Have fun and please communicate with me if you are having issues or there is something specific you would like addressed.
