Re: Gurgun vs Korst - Goblin Battle Royale!

Gurgun strides into the ring, wearing only a pair of short, very tight fitting breeches. Scooping up some grease he then begins to cover himself with the slippery substance. Muscles playing under his glistening bronze coloured skin he nods at the larger goblin.

Gurgun is unable to keep his balance on the slippery surface and falls over. He manages to stand up, but not to avoid the strike from his opponent. Trying to aim a blow himself it misses badly.

OOC: Please review your position. C2 seems a bit far away for any melee attack...

I aimed a opportunistic punch as the the hobgoblin rose, then a quick one-two, but I regret to say slid off my own body and flailed in the air.

* Now I've looked up the prone condition, I don't think my last damaging strike should done you damage. Your prone AC is 14?

I aimed another quick one-two punch, but if anything, my aim was worse than before. Surely the grease was supposed to affect my wrestling capacity, not my striking?

Re: Gurgun vs Korst - Goblin Battle Royale!

"Looks like... we'll be here a while." I joked, as we were both doing so poorly. But of course, this was meant to the sacred sport of wrestling. Oghma was no doubt cursing us for our lack of spirit.

With that in mind, I hurled myself the hobgoblin, throwing my arms around him in a crushing bear hug.

Re: Gurgun vs Korst - Goblin Battle Royale!

The switch of tactics takes Gurgun by surprise and I'm unable to slip out of the vice-like grip Walter manages to get on me. Rather than trying to break free, I give in to the in-fighting and try to get a knee strike to the leg followed by an elbow to the chin. Despite feeling my chest being crushed by his considerable strength I can't help grinning as the elbow clearly sends his head spinning.

OGC: 21 fail! We're grappling!

Re: Gurgun vs Korst - Goblin Battle Royale!

OOC: Now you're speaking in first-person!

Can you Flurry in a Grapple? I assumed it was a single attack only. The "Attack Your Opponent" also applies a -4 penalty on normal attacks. But as Monks we have no penalty on the "Damage Your Opponent" option; which comes to the same thing for us.

My head span at his meaty elbow connected with my jaw; the numbing feeling blotted out all my memories of wrestling classes back at the temple. Oh, those grappling rules!

Moving my head a fraction, I raised my arms to attempt a lock around his head, then drew back a leg to spring my knee into his stomach, but the relocation made the tactic awkward.

Round 5:

Re: Gurgun vs Korst - Goblin Battle Royale!

Doh! We've been forgetting that Grease requires a Reflex save to be made each round or fall. Do you want start using it, or forget about it for this match?

I'll say the DC is 12, minimum value.

Re: Gurgun vs Walter - Wrestling for Oghma!

OOC: You can flurry even if both hands are occupied (or worse). Basically, a monk can almost always strike, and it states specifically that natural weapons are not part of the one strike limit when grappling. I do have to take the -4 penalty though (but that doesn't change the outcome of my last round). I also spotted the reflex save issue, but since we're grappling now it is of no consequence (if one falls the other should too).

Post a round action when I've had time to weigh my options :-)

Re: Gurgun vs Walter - Wrestling for Oghma!

"Aargh!" My muscles strained and bones cracked as the hobgoblin squeezed and folded me back. I was beginning to weaken, and now regretted attempting to grapple this big hobgoblin so earlier in the match.

Desperate, I jerked forward, and tried to slam my forehead into his face. Not quite what my intructors had taught back in the temple, but effective nonetheless.

OGC 17 - Highest modifier wins, right? In that case, that's you.
Round 6:

OOC: I think you should check your damage taken. I count 7 from my initial trip attack, 7 when I started grappling you, and what was the result of my Round 5 grapple attack?

Re: Gurgun vs Walter - Wrestling for Oghma!

OGC round 5: 27

OGC round 6: 23

The grease made grappling difficult and escaping from the grasp of the other easy. I attempted another hold, this time locking on to an arm hoping it would be harder to break.

OOC: You forgot to add +10 to the roll due to the grease. You did not take damage last round. As for the first attack I thought it missed (hit AC9?).

Round 6:

Re: Gurgun vs Walter - Wrestling for Oghma!

OOC: The +10 bonus only applies on attempts to escape a grapple: "A creature wearing greased armor or clothing gains a +10 circumstance bonus on Escape Artist checks and on grapple checks made to resist or escape a grapple or to escape a pin." I took that bit about resisting a grapple to mean GCs to avoid being grappled in the first place, and not OGCs. Am I right or wrong?

No wonder your OGCs have been so high!

Grapple Rules! Aargh! D:

Sorry, you're right, no damage on that trip attack.

Okay, I've gone through and mentally corrected our grapples (I kept saying OGC for all of mine, though some weren't opposed). I think only my Round 4 and Round 6 grapple-attacks did you damage (on Round 6, your OGC 23 - 10 = 13, my 19 beats it). I put us at:

Walter: 20 damage taken
Gurgun: 12 damage taken

If you agree, and we can sort out the greased OGC thing, we can carry on and I'll post my Round 7 action.

Re: Gurgun vs Walter - Wrestling for Oghma!

I tried to close in, snap my arm loose of his lock but Gurgun had a tight grip, and I could feel my joints pop and pull. My vision went black around the edges, my head grew light and dizzy. I was not long for this fight, I knew.

Oghma might praise the benefits of wrestling, but he also knew the benefits of running away. With that in mind I slipped my hand free, using the grease to my advantage and stepped away as quickly and as cautiously as I could back to the ring-wall.

OGC 22, highest mod wins - Gurgun :(

That stabbing pain in my side thwarted all my efforts; body reacting and spasming, I could not retaliate, and barely move. Knowing that I could fight no more, I stiffly and reluctantly bowed to Gurgun.

Fort save 25!
But knocked to 0 hp and disabled. Anything more will drop Walter to negatives, and I doubt I can do enough damage in one strike to fell you, not even with a maximum crit (I rolled just to see, ignore that :) ).

You win!
