OOC: Orophear, Nerissa has filled the corridor with webs starting in front of Gwendol. We'll need to burn the web first, perhaps by firing another bolt?

OOC Yep, floor to ceiling webs blocking access to where TArlassana and Nerissa are. Tarlassana loves it since she has freedom of movement that webs don't hold or slow her. She likes being hit with web spells.

by the way, if you force your way into the webbing to E5, you would appearantly see Tarlassana (well three of her actually down the hall. Orophear has no way to know that none of them are really her.

OOc Hold on while I check math, Tarlassana might actually be out cold.

OOC Yeah, Tar is out cold at the moment, that might change but she is out. so the mirror image is not cast and she is at Gwendol's feet at moment. (If we lost this match though, I think I will want a rematch.

ooc: Excuse me Orophear, how often have you Quick-Cast a spell now? Reading the PHBII it says you can do so 1/day at level 5 and 2/day at level 10. I've lost track of the quickcast spells due to all that ooc messages going on but I remember you used it against Tarlessana at least once.

OOC:  I think Orophear was just copying over his prior round, and I imagine he'll be editing that at some point to reflect his actions for this round, Nerissa.

A snap of the wings sends the spinagon into the southwestern tunnel, bypassing the webstrands.  In but a few heartbeats, Garath is at the intersection with the western tunnel, and looks about - in vain - for his remaining opponent.  Not seeing her, he launches into a web spell of his own.

ooc: Obviously it is a pointless exercise to try and win a match as an ECL4 character against three ECL 5+ characters. We all know that. Thus I'm giving up in round 5. Any struggle would only result in postponing the inevitable. I don't think Tarlessana and Nerissa with combined 11 levels are a tag-team match for a group of 16 character levels.

OOC We are now that I have a few new spells that can offset the difference and sightly different tactics.

This was not a pushover match! Had the scorpion not scored a critical hit Tarlessana would still be very much on her feet and I know she can deal out massive damage. None of us can take excessive damage (although Gwendol obviously can compensate if given the time to heal). I do think you would have fared better staying together, especially since we clearly signalled early on that we would be splitting up.

Massive damage, how much did you take? Nerissa would have gone down from a single Kelgore Bolt. Regardless what you say, I stick to my point: 11 vs 16 levels is too strong.

I think your team-mate would disagree on that, Nerissa...  ;)



And, I agree with Gwendol, this was by no means an easy match.  2 hp less damage, allowing Tarlassana to reach you and get healed up, and the match could very easily have gone the other way.  Kudos to both of you for effective builds and tactics.

Anyway.  To the DMs - please record the match as over, with our thanks for your patience and guidance during the fight.  To everyone else who participated in the match, drinks are on me in the Arena-Side Bar & Lounge.  Gwendol, your usual ale?

I just wish my head had been more into the battle. I might have actually have been able to perform a bit better with out constant prodding editing of posts. Good fight though, Nerissa and Tarlassana.

Yes Garath, I am positive Tarlassana disagrees with me but everyone is free to have his own opinion, just like you or Gwendol. The major problem is Nerissa lacking spells with oomph, dumping all responsibility of dealing damage on Tarlassana. And lets be real: If Tarlassana didn't have the freedom of movement ring you would have glued her to the ground or webbed her in place and dropped a cloud spell on her, effectively taking her out of the fight. Thank god for DM Lady Fate's generosity.

Yes, that is a rare piece of hardware! Still, had you worked closely together you could have webbed us in place with Tarlessana moving about and hurting us in every possible way.

Plus burning a web is easy for me so the cloud wouldn't not have been that big of an issue. We made one mistake at the start and Garath got very lucky. CRit from that summoned scorpion when it needed 2 20's to get a crit made the difference.

Nerissa had Protection from Evil prepared, hedging out that freaking scorpio. Though I didn't expect Garath would use the scorpio immediately. In his fight against Arlessana he commented

Yes, it did change over time, for Garath (the character).  As for me (the player), the metagame reason I was reluctant to use the item against Arlessana did not apply in this match.  Using prior fights to build a behavioural profile is useful but only gets you so far.
