Re: Olivia vs Orophear

Orophear smiled wide at Olivia's tactic. This was going to be interesting. The Duskblade fired off the first arrow which deflected off the shield, the second arrow however found a small opening.

Re: Olivia vs Orophear

OOC: You rolled a 20 there. I can't believe you missed it. :p Do you want to see if it was a crit?

Olivia cursed as the arrow gashed her upper arm, but she had no choice but to weather the assaults until she could close the distance. Still slowly walking and hunching, she made her way to the bridge.

Re: Olivia vs Orophear

OOC: Naw, if I'm not smart enough to catch that then I don't deserve the extra chance to get more damage. No biggie.

Orophear watches Olivia as she ambles along behind her shield. The duskblade reached inside himself and began a quick chant. At the crescendo of the chant he raises his hand, a single finger pointing at Olivia. A purplish ray shot forth from the extended digit striking the orcish woman true, sapping her of a bit of her impressive strength.

Re: Olivia vs Orophear

OOC: You'd need to roll another 20 anyway. :P

And suddenly her armour and shield felt much heavier, weighing her down, slowing her down. She'd never reach him quick enough. She had to force herself on, push past the pain. With a great warcry "Skullcleaver!" she felt invigorated, and trotted at a greater pace towards the elf, caring less about defense and more about smacking him around. Soon she was upon him, ready for battle.

Strength decrease -> carrying a medium load, encumbered, 20ft move speed.

Re: Olivia vs Orophear

OOC: I just realized I have been shorting myself 2 points because I forgot about my Bulls Strength.

As Olivia approached the Duskblade Orophear drew forth his sword. As the blade left it's sheath the elf uttered a quick spell, a look of pain flashing across his face as the blade of his sword turned a blood red. Orophear struck out at Olivia scoring a hit, the blade flashing red as it cut causing more damage than usual.

Round 4:

Re: Olivia vs Orophear

OOC: I assume you're not actually casting ray of enfeeblement again?

Gritting her teeth against the painful attack, Livia stepped around, trying to put her shield in the way. She thrust her spear out hard, once, twice at Orophear. But her weakened strength and the cutting pain were throwing her aim off.

As Orophear backed away, Olivia took advantage and lunged after him, grazing the elf's arm before he vanished. Then she cast her head about, trying to hear his movements. Pity the spell concealed the dripping trail of blood.

  AoO: Attack 23, Damage 5
Round 6:
  [Free] Listen 14 vs your Move Silently - 4 + 1 per 10ft (DMG p295)

OOC: If you move then vanish, then Olivia should see where you moved to before vanishing. The cloak itself ought not to provoke an AoO, so you could have activated it then moved. If it's okay by you, I don't mind carrying on from where we are.

Seeing as Olivia was standing right next to him Orophear decided to take advantage of his invisibility and made a swift and deadly attack. OOC: Crap.

With those savage blows, Olivia knew she was reaching her limits. And also knew that this use of magic was immensely unfair. She backed off, and reached behind her shield to sup at a potion, which healed her a little bit.

Then, thinking to control her environment, she snatched her bag of caltrops from her belt and poured them on the ground beside her.

Re: Olivia vs Orophear

Olivia tried to block the bolt of fire with her shield, but it was too quick for her. She was struck and scorched with flames. Overwhelmed, she dropped to the dirt.

OOC: Reflex 11, fail, Olivia takes 23 fire damage, falls unconscious. Rage ends and dies.

Humbug! :(

Well fought. Without magic or ranged attacks, I suffered badly, and I could barely roll well enough to scratch you. The ray of enfeeblement forced me to Rage early just to get to you, but left me unable to do use some of my other tactics. Finally I had to break off just to heal before my Rage ran out and dropped me anyway.

Ah, you should update your bioline for your level.
