Re: Belanor vs Saellie in the Labyrinth

Saellie bowed respectfully to the referee and her opponent then stepped into the starting area. This was it, her first big duel, in which she could win honour and fame and enhance her ki. First she muttered a prayer to the spirits of this place of battle and death, begging their aid and warding off their curses.

As the time counted down, she lifted her weol do and spun it around herself in a quick practice pattern to limber, going through basic attacks and working out what range she had in these corridors, before twirling and chopping the air in front of her. "Ace!" she shouted, her kihap or spirit shout.

Re: Belanor vs Saellie in the Labyrinth

Belanor moved into the arena confidently. His first debacle of a of a match still fresh in his mind. The young elf drew his bow while reaching to the quiver he wore on his back which always seemed to be empty until his hand was there, drawing an arrow as if it were from thin air. The ranger then sized up his opponent and entered his area. With a wave of his hand to signal he was ready he waited for the gong.

"Shijak!"

At the start order, Saellie took off at a jog, racing straight down into the centre of the maze, her weoldo held level beside her.

Re: Belanor vs Saellie in the Labyrinth

Hearing the sound of the start gong Belanor padded off down the tunnel he was in and made his way to the center junction, his bow at the ready. Once at the junction the elf used his keen elven hearing to listen for any noise that might tip him off as to which direction to go next.

Re: Belanor vs Saellie in the Labyrinth

Upon reflection, as she jogged done the hall and around the corner, a maze really was quite pointless when one could see where one was going.

Re: Belanor vs Saellie in the Labyrinth

In this arena, you should always use your move Silently and Listen checks...  Even if you are not trained, or not really trying to move silently, this will give you the ability to determine if you can hear the other moving.  Since ACP applies to Move Silent, it will be harder to move silently with armor.

DC for a listen check increases by 1 for every 10 feet away the "sound" is.

If you beat the Move Silently by more than 5 you can pin point the location of the sound, or figure out the direction of the sound by meeting the move silent check.

Re: Belanor vs Saellie in the Labyrinth

OOC: Sorry. I think it was -10 we worked out last time. So, Move Silently... -10. I rolled a 1.

It looks like you take -4 on Listen for distance, so I imagine it's impossible for an elf ranger to fail. :)

Also, for me: Listen 9.

Re: Belanor vs Saellie in the Labyrinth

Thanks to his years of training in the wild Belanor picked up the sounds of his opponent coming down a nearby hallway. The elf moved as silent as a shadow to the edge of yet another junction and drew back his bow, aiming at the junction he could hear Saellie coming down.

Re: Belanor vs Saellie in the Labyrinth

OOC: Ah, diceroller says you rolled a 10, a miss

Where is he? she wondered she stepped around the corner, and an arrow whizzed past her helm, neatly answering her question. "Ace!" she roared, rushing down the corridor at the elf, her long weol do leading the way. As soon as she had the room, she turned and waved the axe-head and red tassel around him in a lightning-fast distracting display.

OOC: 10-foot reach, so I'll be threatening you

OOC: So, from all my recent battles with the reach weapon population of ROA I can take a5foot step out of the threatened area without provoking an AoO, correct??

Re: Belanor vs Saellie in the Labyrinth

OOC: This is not going well already!

Belanor cursed under his breath when he missed with his first arrow. When the white haired woman closed the gap quickly the young elf decided to try and step out of the range of the wicked looking pole arm she wielded. The young elf stepped back and fired an arrow, reached over his shoulder to his empty quiver and drew another arrow and fired. Both arrows glancing off the woman's armor made Belanor curse even louder in elven.

Re: Belanor vs Saellie in the Labyrinth

OOC: How do you draw an arrow from an empty quiver? :p

Saellie swayed from side to side, avoiding the two arrow shots. Then she quick-stepped forward and out, bringing the sharp end to bear against Belanor's arm. "Ha!"

Re: Belanor vs Saellie in the Labyrinth

Belanor let out a loud cry of agony as his arm was almost sheered clean from his body. The elf stumbled away from his opponent out of sheer panic then limped away down the corridor holding his ruined arm. Once he ducked around the corner Belanor leaned against the wall and hoped he would be able to heal himself soon or this was going to be ANOTHER short match.
