As often has been the case of late, the Kadesh seem preoccupied with internal chaos.  It is said that the Countess had gone mad and refused to authorize any additional discretionary funding: "It killed her... it'll kill him... I warned him.  I warn you too, " was her cryptic response to generals.

Quite unpredictably, or perhaps after the wake of the great battle on Eden, she has revived.  A message to the Gurati was simple, unaggressive: "Stay away.  Leave Eden."

When she hears that her old enemy, the Baron is on Eden, it is sad that the look on her face was downright frightening.  "Forget the other Gurati.  I want him!" she is said to have exclaimed.

The imperial sages report:

The winds of politics plow strong as ever. The shifting favor of the Emperor (or more exactly, the lack of a clear Imperial position on this conflict) results in the Imperial Secret Police siding with the Lortran, for now. Surely the enemies of the old leader of Lortran must be doubly suspicious now, for the Secret police has a certain kind of well earned reputation.

Baron Gurati himself visited Silex this month; it seems the ghoulish Surgeons have no shortage of suitors to attract their attentions. Be it as it may, the coffers of Solats and the impression the Gurati military left made sure the Surgeons accepted the invitation.

However, even as his personal dropship descended back on Eden the Baron's destiny appeared to be sealed. A large thermonuclear weapon was hidden on the outskirts of Eden's main temple. However, by an incredible stroke of luck, the allegiance of the Secret Police had changed mere days before, after the bomb had been prepared and planted. So the device lay there dormant, waiting for another chance to unleash its fury. The Baron and Eden's archbishop were both blissfully unaware of their luck.

On Griddox, a whole regiment of Prison soldiers was put out of action by poison and bacterial agents. Medical personnel estimate only one third to be able to make a recovery at all. The kinds of bioagents used were of typical Kadesh manufacture.

On Bazarium, the maintenance crew of a nuclear arsenal finds all the guidance circuits to be malfunctioning. The sabotage was subtle and well thought of - the warheads were not salvageable and thus the whole arsenal had to be sold for scrap. Duchess Catherine of Lortran was seen in the system shortly before the incident.

A Kadesh jumpship traverses the space between Bazarium and Bolavor. Another gift to the Nitrix from the Countess.

The imperial tactician reports:

After seeing the Nitrix mauled by the Gurati, Lortran decided to move in on the world of Hellish, using finally available jumpships.

Lortran:
2 jumpships, 2 damper fields, 2 psychic veterans, 2 clone soldiers
Nitrix:
1 suicide squad, 1 nuke

Nuclear exchange: The Nitrix crew reacts as ordered, forming a rain of nuclear missiles that close in on one of the two advancing jumpships. The swarm detonates, leaving bright flecks of nuclear fire hanging in the heavens. However, space is vast, and the skilled Guild pilots easily avoided the blast pattern. The two giant spaceships thunder down throungh the polluted atmosphere and crash through the domes of Hellish's capital city; Lortran soldiers stream out of the hatches, weapons already firing.

Round 1:
The single Nitrix unit offers embittered resistance to the Lortran. Outnumbered and outgunned, the suicide squad nevertheless inflicts a casualty on the enemy, removing a clone soldier unit from the attacking force.

Round 2:
Another clone unit is dispatched of easily by the Suicide squads - but the aftermath sees them drawn into a trap, the crossfire quickly mincing them to pieces. The suicide charges they wear go unused, as there is no more resistance by Nitrix forces on the planet.

A  gray-clad adviser rushes through the door to the Duke's quiet room, and whispers "M'lord, the duche--"

"Tycho!" shouts Duchess Catherine, storming in behind the adviser, and cutting off his quiet introduction.  "Eden, the cross-roads of this sector, was yours for the taking, and you went after Hellish?!  Some god-forsaken radioactive rock, when we could have grabbed the seat of the church, and control of the templars?!  Are you out of your mind?!  I did not come to this sector to rule over Hellish!"

Duke Lortran continues to stare out the window into the starry night, and allows the silence following his sister's shouting to hang in the air for a moment.

"Catherine," he says quietly, then turns to face her for the first time since her arrival.  "There is a reason we call this my quiet room.  If you wish to discuss my actions, I am more than happy to oblige, but please let us do so in a civilized manner."

The duchess throws her head back and laughs wildly, her eyes blazing.  "Quiet room!  Hah!  You have grown soft and weak in your old age, Tycho.  I should be running this House!  If I were, we would hold Eden now, and not some useless rock like Hellish!  Gods!  It's even called Hellish!  That should have been a clue to you!"

The duke lets out a long sigh.  "Sister, while I'm sure you would make a most capable head of House Lortran, fate has left it in my hands, and thus I will lead it as I see fit.  Hellish will bring us an income nearly equal to our other colony worlds combined.  And it serves as a nice buffer on our border with the Nitrix, who will be growing desperate for territory now.  More importantly, though, I have seen the baron overcome invasion forces twice now, when the odds were strongly against him.  I do not like the idea of attacking Eden while he is in control of the planet.  Let the Kadesh deal with him.  The Countess is hell-bent on destroying him, from what I hear from our new allies in the secret police."

The Duke pauses for a moment to glance out the window once more.  "Besides, we're not in a position to hold Eden at this point.  As you say, it is the crossroads of this sector, and all four houses have access to it.  Defending our border from the Nitrix is hard enough.  Adding both the Kadesh and the Gurati to the list would be foolish at this point."

The duchess sneers angrily at the duke.  "What of your precious Zenceti, Tycho?  The baron could attack it from Eden at any moment.  Why don't you worry about that border?"

The duke smiles a tired smile.  "The natives there are more than capable of defending themselves.  And more importantly, they cost us little to maintain.  If the Baron wants to waste solar templars taking Zenceti, he is welcome to try.  However, I imagine he has a better grasp of the economics involved than you do, dear sister."

"So, what then?  You have no intention of ever taking Eden?  You are content with your tiny corner of space?" the duchess asks.

"Of course not," answers the Duke.  "But the time has not yet come.  As I have said many times, patience will win this sector.  Patience, and calm.  Now, as we are in need of funds, please attend to your assigned task of increasing production here."

Catherine glares at her brother angrily for a moment.  "Oh, I shall, Tycho.  I shall wrench these peasants for all they are worth.  You shall see how much 'funding' I can raise, and compare it to those imbeciles on Marx.  I don't see why you even tolerate them."

The duke lets out another sigh.  "Marcos, Carly, and Alex do as they are told, at least.  And from Marx they cannot shout at me." He offers a weak smile towards the Duchess.

The duchess sneers a final sneer then stomps angrily out of the room.  The gray-clad adviser bows once to the duke, then follows Catherine out of the room.

The Duke sighs yet again, and chews his lip in thought.  A moment later, a voice crackles from the communicator on the Duke's wrist.  "Excellently done!  I don't think she had a clue!  I watched it all from here, and I don't think she noticed a thing.  And if Catherine didn't notice, I doubt anyone will."

"Indeed," answered the Duke, a smile returning to his face.  "Though, she was quite angry.  Do you think she might try to kill one of us, and take control of the house?"

"It is a distinct possibility, I am afraid.  That's part of why you're here, of course."

"And why you're not," answered the Duke wryly.

"True enough.  One of us may fall, but the other will go on, and the plan will continue."

The Duke nodded slightly, then spoke once more into the communicator at his wrist.  "She raises some valid points, however.  Our allies in the church press us harder each day to take Eden.  We will have to take it eventually."

"Eventually, yes.  But as you told her, now is not the time.  The church can wait.  They have done little for us of late, despite our continued efforts to open up Bazarium to their influence.  Let them wait along with Catherine until we are ready."

"Indeed.  What is our plan for the immediate future, then?"

"The spacing guild will eventually leave us, as the surgeons did.  We must make best use of them while we have them, just as we did with the surgeons, eh?  Place orders for more ships, and continue to reinforce our holdings.  Patience will win the day for us."

"Yes," replied the Duke.  "As you wish."

Hot damn!  I keep getting lucky with that roll!  ICly, I have a rather cool idea for this one:  With the help of the temporary alliance with the surgeons of silex, the clone-masters of Marx were able to create a body double of the Duke (who is fearing assassination, hence his enlisting the help of the secret police).  This noble will be called "Duke Lortran (clone)," and rather than explicitly say there's another noble, I think the IC fluff should be that Duke Lortran is being seen in public a great deal lately, seemingly doubling his previous apperances, and working more than a man his age would seem capable of.

On the Nitrix Homeworld, two sabres crashed against one another in a rapid fire staccato.  Dekko glared from beneath his mesh wireframe mask as Karth stepped forward without attacking, closing the distance to where the younger man prefered.  Dekko took a step back, battering the man's guard to the side, but finding it back in place before he could take advantage of it.

"These last few months have been quite the pathetic affair, don't you agree?" the younger man hissed as he feinted with his lead foot, Dekko deftly turned aside the true attack before answering.

"Indeed.  The Gurati's army is well trained indeed, I never thought that Zibble would fail to kill even a single unit of Solar Templars." he said, his breathing keeping level and steady even as he threatened with the tip of his blade before bringing it down towards the inside curve of Karth's arm.  Karth moved his arm across with a slash towards Dekko's midsection, but he'd brought it in too tight and the attack came up short...Karth always had been too worried about potential losses to press a counter attack.

"Blame the good Baron.  He's an excellent field commander, and it's so difficult to keep track of the position of Nobles when they do not want to be found.  He failed to compensate for him in our strategy, and so, our plans to smash their unity with Suicide Squads and pick them apart piecemeal failed utterly.  Perhaps if any of our attempts to sabotage their defensive efforts had been successful, the story would have been different...Faradi is enjoying her new post too much, I think. another series of quick strikes which only find a blade interrupting their attacks.

"It seems she's lost her edge, that is true.  Now Lortran smells blood in the water, after so much effort to take Hellish in the first place to keep him from stockpiling Nuclear Arsenals, he just swept in and stole it effortlessly after Zibble's failure on Eden.  It seems we're locked in a cage match with Lortran, and Gurati holds the key to the only escape." with a flash, Dekko steps aside from one of Karth's attacks and smacks his blade against the side of the young man's helmet.

"That's three of three matches." the High Lord said with a dark smile, "Though, I suppose if you intended to remove me from your path to High Lordship, you wouldn't involve yourself directly.  Getting your hands dirty has never been your style."

If Dekko's words had any particular effect on Karth, the young man didn't show it outwardly as he took of his helmet.  Sizzling just below his polite smile, however, a storm of psionic energy bubbled with impotent rage.

"Well then, now that you've warmed up, let's get to the business onhand." Karth said, gesturing towards a hall.  It was time to ennact damage control measures, reinforce borders, and make a few examples.

The imperial sages report:

The Discordian heretics, troubled by Gurati alliance with the church on Eden, look closely at allying themself with another House. This might happen in a future season.

On the world of Frost, the Surgeons of Silex went about their ghastly business. While outwardly they were as respectable as any medical community, we, of course, knew better. Using genetic material preserved from Countess Kadesh's niece (who fell in battle on Frost a few months ago, and whose mutilated body is still displayed on Frost's starport encased in eternal ice) and Baron Gurati's own seed, they constructed a chimeric clone. Force growing it took only one month due to the exceptionally potent combination of genetic materials from two of the finest noble houses. The result, Gratius Rephiliad, opened his eyes with full comprehension this month and assumed the role of a noble of the house Gurati.

Andorus Gurati, the former Baron, invited Spacing Guild representatives onto Eden. Awed by the beauty of the planet, and quite disgusted by the scars left there by the recent attack, they agreed to shift their alleigance to house Gurati.

Over Mercurium, a Kadesh jumpship ceased communication with ground control. When rescue crews managed to dock with the ship, they found the crew ripped apart and the ship itself irreparably damaged. Traces point at several cybernetic commandoes as the likely perpetrators; moreover, the private skimmer of D'Silvia Gurati was seen leaving Mercurium's orbit in great haste.

To add insult to injury, and in a move quite unprecedented in this conflict, Gratius Rephiliad (the chimera as some have called him) was sent on a diplomatic mission to Kadesh's homeworld. It is not clear what exactly happened; reports are fragmentary and conflicting. What is konwn is that he managed to bypass Countess Kadesh's security and assassinate her in a most gruesome way. The palace officials wouldn't say more, even to the imperial sage apprentice collecting data. It remains to be seen how the rest of Kadesh's nobility will react to the deed.

The Lortran nobility spends agreat deal of time this month consolidating their estates' economic qualities. The new wealth of Lortran courts outshines even Kadesh's.

Yet another jumpship was granted to the Nitrix by the Kadesh. One could almost suspect the motives of the mos powerful house in the sector.

Despite his age, our Duke has been making more and more public appearances of late, and shows no sign of struggling under the busy schedule.  Some attribute this to the recent arrival of his sister, the Duchess Catherine, saying that she has taken over much of the governance work that the Duke formally handled himself.  If this is the case, perhaps the citizens of Lortran will gain a new appreciation for the Duchess, who has received a rather cold welcome so far.

The imperial sages report:

Two nobles join house Gurati this season, as Florentine Gurati, cousin of the current Baron, returns from the halls of Aristocracy schools to assume a position in House hierarchy. The Surgeons, too, present their newest masterpiece - this one named Gratius Hellius. Once more scavenging the genetic material of Countess Kadesh's niece, and combining it with the current Baron's, they produced another biotechnological travesty. Rumors have it that the clone was unstable, and had to be implanted with Gurati's own cybernetic commando wetware to be viable. He was posted as governor of Pyreen - surely a rather clumsy measure that needed some deeper thought on the Baron's part.

House Gurati extends its influence further. The rather greedy representatives of the Mercantile consortium were rather quickly bent to the will of the second most powerful House in the sector. While some might see Gurati's continued use of Silexian clones as unpalatable, the Consortium certainly doesn't seem to mind.

The Nitrix nobles are cursed with an utter lack of successes this season.

House Kadesh seems paralyzed this season. Surely the loss of the Countess has bee a heavy blow to the house, but one would expect them to rebound far more quickly than this. As is now, whole planets are idle, working towards no particular goal. Even the nobles of this House are nowhere to be seen. Kadesh base itself is wreathed in ritual black smoke, a sign of grief for their Countess.

The imperial sages report:

This season has seen the heads of the Black market agreeing to join House Gurati's efforts. No doubt their agreement was liberally lubricated with financial gain.

The overtures of House Lortran toward the Discordian Heretics bore fruit this season. Irritated by the Baron's good relations with Eden and continuing recruitment of Solar Templars, the Discordian antipope declared amidst huge pomp and festivities that he would from now on support house Lortran instead.

The Nitrix nobles again come out luckless this season, all the planned sabotage for which the house is famous coming to naught.

The Kadesh, however, are not quite so luckless, as the seemingly unrelated catastrophe aboard a Gurati jumpship over Quayat demonstrates.

Also, anothe Kadesh jumpship get donated to the Nitrix at Bolavar, continuing the practice the now deceased Countess instituted.

It is unclear what the new countess, a unit of transhuman supersoldiers and hordes of amazonian pleasure slaves do on the pleasure planet of Punah. But it is rumored to be... invigorating. We speculate that it must be some sort of celebration.


The imperial tactician reports:

After a season long pause, Duke Lortran continues his offensive against the Nitrix in the east of the sector. His target is the peaceful world of Aquaria.

Forces:
Lortran: 3xjumpships, 4 clone soldiers, 4 psychic veterans, 1 nuke
Nitrix: 4 sea monster, 1 nuclear arsenal

Nuclear phase: Lortran chose not to imperil Aquaria's ecosystem with a nuclear attack.
The Nitrix arsenal fires at the incoming jumpships. And the results are rather astonishing, as two of the attacking jumpships disintegrate, the brilliant blossoms of nuclear explosions hammering them into clouds of molten scrap.

The few remaining Lortran forces perform a combat drop onto Aquaria's floating cities.

Forces: 3 psychic veterans (6AD) vs. 4 Sea monsters (16AD).

Round 1: The attack started as a disaster and continued so from the first minute. The elite Lortran troops were just too few and far between; unused to the environment, they got mangled in many horrible ways by the sea monster defenders, ranging from the ever popular "tendril around the ankle" trick to whole cities suddenly submerging a few feet and leaving Lortran troops in waters infested by piranha like fish.

None of the veterans survived.

The surviving Lortran starship quickly activated its emergency drive and slipped into jumpspace.


All over Gurati holdings Discordian Heretics rose up in open rebellion. On Eden, they were quickly slaughtered by the hated Solar Templars. On Frost, they were simply doused in water and thrown out of the domed cities to freeze to death.  On Quayat an even worse fate awaited them, in the hot deserts of the merciless world. In the narrow streets of Seedeen's hives, they were hunted and put down quickly.

An unusually stern-looking Duke Lortran sits accross an antique table from his sister, Duchess Catherine, sipping slowly from a cup of tea.  The duchess smiles cruelly.  "I hear your little invasion of Aquaria did not go to plan, brother.  You should have let me handle the planning.  I certainly would not have sent out the fleet without damper fields."

The Duke frowns ever so slightly before taking a sip from his cup.  Another moment passes before he replies.  "It is true I underestimated Lord Nitrix.  I had not figured he could afford nuclear armaments on Aquaria.  I should have brought dampers.  The Nitrix live their lives expecting an attack.  I should have known better.  Too many died in that invasion."

Catherine's malicious grin widens at her brother's admission.  "And Gurati has convinced your allies in the black market to change their allegiance as well.  The Baron has proven as skillful a diplomat as he has a tactician.  Our coffers run much lower than they did just a few season ago."

"I know this only too well, sister."  The Duke's reply is calm, but it comes quicker than his normal replies.  He lets out a sigh, and takes another sip from his cup.  "You worry about our coffers, Catherine.  You have been doing very well at it.  The Baron will be dealt with in good time.  These are minor setbacks.  Nothing worse than I have overcome in the past."

"Only because you have such a long past!" cackles the Duchess.

"But not so much as you, dear sister." retorts the Duke.

The Duchess' smile drops from her face.  She glares angrily at her brother for a moment.  "Well, tell me then, brother when will you deal with Baron Gurati?  His forces on Eden grow stronger every day, while ours are whittled away by a pointless conflict over useless worlds like Aquaria and Hellish."

The duke set silent for a long moment.  One sip.  Another sip.  The feintest touch of a smile at his lips as he noticed Catherine's rising impatience.  "In good time, Catherine, as I said.  In good time."

"Hmph!" answered the Duchess.  "Which is as good as never!  You think convincing those worthless Discordians to defect was a victory!  Ha!  They failed to kill a single Gurati, and what good are they to us?  They do nothing but anger your allies in the Church."

"Let them be angry, then," the Duke answered.  "The church has had little impact since we first arrived in this sector.  Perhaps a bit of theological discomfort will encourage them to work harder.  The heretics will be needed, in good time, if you catch my meaning.  Though it will not come soon enough for your liking, there will at some point, be a battle for control of Eden.  At that point, we will need all the allies willing to fight against the church that we can find."

The duke took another sip from his cup before concluding, "Now, if you would excuse me, Catherine, I have some commincations I must make.  It has been lovely, as always."

The Imperial sages report:

We hope the allegiance chart is finally correct now. A junior sage has been executed for inaccuracies.

Gurati nobles work hard on boosting their worlds' economy Solats pour into their House coffers, swelling them to the point of bursting.

The Gurati jumpship over Eden disintegrates into a cloud of glimmering metal, courtesy of a minor intervention by officials bribed by house Kadesh. However, the Gurati seem to have their usual luck, as their internal security forces detect no fewer than five other failed sabotage attempts by house Kadesh.

Skillful diplomacy conducted by Duke Lortran himself results in withdrawal of much needed support of the Spacing Guild from the Gurati. The Guild shifts its allegiance to Lortran... for the time being. However, seeing that the Guild has had more ups and downs than a prostitute in zero-G, another change of allegiance is likely soon.

This season also sees Gurati worlds wreathed in black funeral smoke. Thousands of pyres are lit all over the planets. Holovids of the young Baron's corpse and the execution of Imperial Secret Police troops are circulated far and wide. It is no secret that the Lortran persuaded the Police to follow through with the assassination plan that led to the baron being cornered and killed by Imperial Policemen in disguise. Some see it as cashing in on a karmic debt, for was it not on the young baron's orders that the Countess was assassinated? Be it as it may, the head of House Lortran might not have long to live...

The Nitrix, a House almost pushed out of the sector, manage a diplomatic victory, and secure the support of the Black Market for themselves. Most probably, they will use this to build up a stockpile of nuclear weapons.

Indigo Montoya, a noble from a minor Gurati family joins the ranks of th Gurati. Rumors ofthe involvement of the Surgeons again course among the court; certainly the pale complexion and an almost inhuman efficiency the young noble displays do nothing to dispel those rumors.


The imperial tactician reports:

This season sees another attempt on Aquaria by the Lortran forces.


Aquaria:

Lortran invasion force: 3xjumpships, 1 nuke, 1 damper, 1 subterranean mutants, 3 mercenaries +noble, 3 house troops
Nitrix defending force: 1xSea monsters

Nuclear exchange: the Lortran let chivalry and good PR rule over their judgment again, and abstain from nuclear bombardment. The Nitrix have no nuclear arsenals left.

Psi phase: The Lortran noble is unable to bend psychic forces to do his bitting; however the subterranean mutants seem eager to end this fight as soon as possible (perhaps being unnerved by all the water) and summon up a molecular disruption effect.
First strike phase: The Lortran spearhead lands on the biggest floating city and secures a base of operations. No casualties inflicted or suffered.
Regular combat phase: Prior experiences on the planet and the holovids brought back by the retreating Lortran jumpships serve Marquis Alex well. The sea monsters are quickly found and exterminated by depth charges rigged from easily found materials. The Sea monsters didn't manage to retaliate before they are wiped out.


While the Lortran invasion landed, a Nitrix relief force was already en route to Aquaria.

Nitrix relief force: Jumpship "Ingens", 3xSuicide Squad
Lortran invasion force: 3xjumpships, 1 nuke, 1 damper, 1 subterranean mutants, 3 mercenaries +noble, 3 house troops

Nuclear exchange: The Lortran arsenal fires; but apart from a nice firework it fails to delay the combat drop by the Nitrix troops.

Psychic phase: No joy for either psi-capable unit.
First strike phase: even as the Nitrix suicide squads land a trap is set for them. However, it fails to incur any damage onto the armor clad soldiers hurtling to their deaths.
Regular combat phase: With unprecedented zeal the suicide troopser throw themselves at the enemy. Narrow metallic bridges of the floating cities quickly become slick with blood, as vicious fighting erupts. For the loss of two-thirds of the attacking force, the Nitrix manage to destroy but one house troop regiment.

Psi phase: A minor effect by the subterranean mutants comes into being.
First strike phase: With the Nitrix outnumbered and outgunned, it was an easy matter for the Lortran noble to coordinate his mercenaries into a deadly rearguard attack. He almost singlehandedly wipes out the remaining Nitrix troops.

And that is how Aquaria finally changed hands, oceans red with blood around its contested cities.

"You suprise me, brother," says duchess Catherine, pouring the Duke a cup of tea.  "I did not think assassination was to your tastes!  A brilliant move eliminating the baron like that!"

The Duke frowns slightly, but nods to his sister, and thanks her for the tea.  "Apparently the trap was already largely set.  The Kadesh had planned for them to eliminate the Baron just before we gained their support.  It was merely a matter of giving the word.  Not normally the way I prefer to do business, but Eden is presenting a larger threat to us every day, and the Gurati seduce our allies continuously.  A message needed to be sent."  Duke Tycho Lortran takes a sip of his tea, but finding it too hot puts it down on the antique table.

"The Gurati are not the only ones seducing allies, though, brother!  You did well to bring the spacing guild back into the fold.  And all while wringing every more out of the Lortran economy!  Where do you find the time?"  Though the duchess clearly doesn't intend for the question to be answered, there is a hint of...something in the voice.  A thought being pondered even as she speaks.

"By enlisting only the best help, dear sister," replies the Duke, a hair quicker than is his habit.  "Speaking of which, Baron Donald will be arriving soon.  Do fill him in on the details, and help him get started with his work, won't you?"

Catherine snorts and frowns.  "More fair weather family.  Nothing brings in the help like a military victory, does it?  I'm sure you will remember who has been here the longest, when it comes time to divvy up holdings."

The Duke smiles, and waits his usual long pause before responding.  "As I recall, Marcos and Carly came with me to this sector from the start.  And even Alex came before you, dear sister.  But worry not, there will be plenty for all of you, I promise."

There is a few moments of silence while Catherine considers this with a frown.  The Duke takes another sip of tea, finding its temperature more to his liking this time.

"So, brother, when shall we be invading Eden?  You have your little back-water worlds in hand now.  Isn't it time you started the real campaign?"

The duke takes a sip from his cup, and stared off into nowhere for a few moments.  Just as Catherine is about to ask if he had not heard her, he speaks.  "In good time, sister, as I have I told you frequently.  Are forces are stretched thin at the moment.  It will take time to solidify our position.  We need more troops, and we need more ships with which to carry them.  And that will take funds.  And as you've been doing such a good job at generating funds, I hope you will keep up the good work.  The Kadesh will keep the Gurati busy for the time being."
