Cthulhu: the Call of

Pardon the pun, but this topic has been long time coming, how does one merge/convert Call of Cthulhu with World of Darkness. It is clear the two simply fit together perfectly, just how does one capture the feeling best?

Re: Cthulhu: the Call of

I had a huge long post but I figured this would be better.

Interesting idea, but what do you actually mean by merging the games. Call of Cthulhu with mages, seems to defy the ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances that makes Call of Cthulhu so fun.

Same with Vampires, Changelings, Werewolves or any of the other WoD games.

Yet just doing it to change the dice seems pointless.

Re: Cthulhu: the Call of

I'd Recommend using regular Mortals core book, along with a combination of Antagonist/Book of Spirits for the Elder Gods or what other freaky psychological monsters they may be.

And Maybe throw in a pinch of Second Sight for the players for added RP and drama.

Re: Cthulhu: the Call of

There are two questions here, really. First one is how we implement standard quirks of Call of Cthulhu like madness and such into a mortals chronicle. The second question is how we add Lovercraftian nasties to supernatural chronicles (namely Mage, Demon or Scion chronicles), how we incorporate Faustian bargains (like a part of the soul for some power etc.).

Re: Cthulhu: the Call of

Use the Humanity bar as Sanity/Insanity one? It's a bit smaller than the one in CoC (if I remember correctly) but that could make it even more fun! :D

Re: Cthulhu: the Call of

Well First of all, as never being a GM these are ideas and may not work but here is what I think.

For madness, well use a CoC sanity bar and have it replace the Humanity/Clarity/Wisdom/etc, depending on the game. This is due to the fact that CoC, you Sanity is burnt though too fast for the WoD bar. The only weakness to this is that, at the start at least, loosing sanity due to the normal reasons will be slower.

For the second one... Adding Lovecraftian nasties I have no idea. If not done right it would seem pointless. As for Faustian Bargains, that would seem to be a case of balance. Yet how you would balance both sides, I honestly have no idea.

Good luck with the idea though. I shall watch this thread as if you get this worked out I would be interested in playing such a game.
