Looking for oWoD recomendations...

Naturally, I'm a few years behind the rest of the world, and just noticed that apparently the entire old World of Darkness series is available for purchase online in PDF format, and for half the price. Guess I can get some of those books I wanted after all. Of course, before blowing what little money I can hold onto these days, I figured I'd see what people recommend.

I've got enough core books (which is pretty much all I used to buy). The only one I considered that I never got was Mummy. It just seemed off to have these games for classic horror characters, and be missing the mummy. Of course, now I'm wondering if it's worth buying the core rulebook to stare at a computer screen for so many hours at a time to learn it (I certainly don't want to print the whole thing).

As far as other sourcebooks, one of the ones I always considered strongly was the Dark Ages books. Like many other players I've met out there, I've had that dream of starting a campaign in medieval times, and having it run through all the major time periods, and end with the Time of Judgment. Unfortunately the books cost too much to just buy back in the day. I'm wondering if it's really worth investing in now (especially since once I start I can't stop, I'll get the Dark Ages, Renaissance, Victorian, and Western age sourcebooks as well, and end up very broke). There's also the fact that chances are by the time I get around to running that ideal campaign, there's always that really good chance that the game just won't last long enough to visit all the eras.

Lastly there's the sourcebooks to further flesh out games I've already got. Hunter books that cover Wayward and Hermit would be good, if I could find one that covers the basics for both (hopefully among other things) rather then the two individual sourcebooks. Also getting books that help flesh out Demons would be nice, since more then half of their book was for the story (and that still left a lot of details out. I'm all for making up my own details but I'm at a bit of a loss when it comes to the War of Wrath.)

So any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Re: Looking for oWoD recomendations...

Hmmm... well, it might help you keep your spending down if you keep in mind that Dark Ages, Kindred of the East, Sorcerers Crusade, etc. are not sourcebooks. They are individual gamelines where each of the main books is a core. You don't have to buy every single one of them. ;)

My own personal approach is to only acquire and use corebooks. Material in sourcebooks are optional, in my opinion. Also, I really hate it if I come up with some backstory that I think is clever, only to find that White Wolf has come up with something completely different that contradicts my version.

Yes, I have regretted buying every sourcebook in Mage: the Ascension line even if it cost me nothing more than megabytes on my hard drive.

I would recommend Demon: the Fallen, though and its Players Guide though.
