So, I've read through the Chronicles of Darkness book quite a few times but for the life of me, I haven't been able to come up with an answer to a concern I have. Specifically with regards to Armor. In CoD there are two types of Armor, Ballistic and General.

Ballistic downgrades attacks from Firearms for each point it has.

General Armor applies to all attacks and reduces the damage from the highest severity to the lowest,  by one point for each it has.

ANd if the armor  you have has both ratings, you apply Ballistic first.

So my confusion is thus; Does this mean Ballistic Armor downgrades non-fire arm attacks as well? Does it only apply to firearms if not then?

I mean it makes sense, that with a gun, it'll downgrade the damage first and then reduce it, but what if someone is swinging a bat or other potential non-firearms damage ensues?

Admittedly it's probably a really simple answer, and I'm just not getting it, but to elucidate I've recently had an encounter where a character with 4/4 Armor was attacked by a big monster with it's claws, does that mean, if the monster had dealt, lets say 4 lethal..that it would first be downgraded to 4 bashing, and then reduced to 1 bashing (since a character always takes at least 1 bashing from shock of the attack)

General applies for everything NOT ballistic only.

Ballistic applies to everything ballistic only, some armor has temporary ballistic rating thats only good for one use though.
