Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

Mika brings over more ingredients, giving both her and Katy a stack of tortillas at least a foot high.  She starts rolling them along side her.  "Oh, this doctor.  He is that white gato with the wings, isn't he?  He's kind of cute, no?" she asks smiling faintly while rolling her flautas.

As she hears someone heading into the kitchen she does her best to maintain a straight face.

Samuel frowns and looks slightly annoyed that his suggestion was shot down. However he doesn't waste time trying to argue his case since that would only increase the chance they are noticed before they can get out.

Samuel heads off with the rest of the group, while making sure that the gear he has picked up is secured and not rattling as he moves.

After informing Katy of the situation, Valin heads off as he wants to get a few things ready for when he's dealing with the afternoon chores with Lucky and Maverick, since having the extra tools and supplies ready in advance would keep things simple while he's giving instructions.

Nautilus is especially careful as he leads the group out of the armory and partially back the way they came to start on the path to the meeting point.  He knows that any trouble they encountered going in would most likely still be there on the way out, so he keeps himself alert.

The added weight of the equipment is something that he mentally prepared for, and he's not loaded enough to hamper his movement too much... but it's still a touch more difficult to be stealthy when carrying more than one came in with.

At regular intervals, he looks back at the others, especially Mittens, to make sure that they're staying close and not being distracted.

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

Hart lets Angel take the lead moreso than himself, not being nearly as familiar with Channelwood as she.

When they get to the mess hall, the deer gives a short chuckle at Angel's question, "Heh... guess we don't need any more description than that, eh?" He looks out to the Mobians listening to them so far, "He should be looking for Katy, so we'll settle for bein' nudged in her direction if you haven't seen him."

Upon seeing Angel's reaction to Philip, Hart raises a brow but shrugs. He hadn't gotten to know all of the other Freedom Fighters well enough to know who was super new or not. Philip didn't look all that familiar to him, at least not enough to particularly stand out.  When Philip stands up, however, and hurries his way out of the room in an almost primal fashion, the deer watches after him carefully.

"Huh. Nice guy..."

Emerald thinks on Joe's question. "Minor personal snags? Hmm... not off the top of my head. Major, well, I keep to myself for the same reasons anyone else would; personal reasons." she arrives at the mess hall only to see Angel. Phil passes her by and she wonders what that was about.

Raichel hears Hart and calls out, "He's upset, that's all. He *is* a nice guy. You just caught him at a bad time. C'mon over here." she would proceed to tell them about herself and her dad during the time skip. But eventually, all are fed and ready for the mission. "Well... guess I got a mission to go on."

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

Thomas is glad Mittens' insanity at least has one perk: amusing him with thoughts of a fatter Robotnik being used as a pinata. He has decided, though, not to talk until they are back at base. If Mittens knew this, who knows? Maybe she would poke and poke until he was forced to reply. Thankfully, when you decide to be quiet, that means you don't announce it.

Shelly meets up with the others and quickly gets with the escape plan with Nautilus. She and Milloni give a thumbs-up, indicating they were successful. Shelly whispers to him, "How were they? Did they do OK?" obviously she means the group Nautilus was stuck with.

Timothius enters the kitchen and smiles, waving. "Hi, Katy." he also gives a nod to Mika. Then says, "I'm here to check if you're ready to get off those crutches."

(Time jump!)

Timothius led Katy (and Joe and Emerald) over to Katy's hut for the examination. Joe and Emmy would be told to kindly wait for 10-20 minutes.

After examining Katy, Timothius says, "Well... you can be off the crutches. But don't go jogging or anything just yet. Here... I'll get you a new set of exercises."

After he shows Katy her new exercises, she agrees and then Timothius lets Joe and Emerald see Katy. Katy looks over at them. "Right. So what's up?"

Angel chuckles at Hart's comment. Upon hearing Raichel, she sits down, relaxes, eats, and gets familiar with the newbies (Raichel and eventually Philip) while getting caught up on Daemon. She keeps Hart company and browses Channelwood taking the scenic route to Katy's hut so that they could be with Timothius again by the time Tim's done his examinations.

Mika waves briefly to Tim when he comes in to fetch Katy.  She remains in the kitchen to finish lunch.  She's next seen at lunch, putting out the food for lunch, along with several batches of combat rations and water bottles for the team who is out on a mission.  Once the lunch work is done, she takes an afternoon break in the mess hall.

Joe wonders what the deal with the flying fish are... I mean Joe can't see those, no.  That would be crazy.  "Ah, a fellow practitioner of 'Stairs? What stairs?' I see."  he comments in regards to Philip's method of departure.  He shrugs in regards to Emerald's answer. "I figured as much."

TIME WARP! WHOOOoooh.  More waiting.... TIME WARP AGAIN! WHOO!

"Oh, near inconsequential stuff.  I was mostly wondering if there was anything I could help out with more the times I'm here and not busy stabbing robots.  I don't want to end up as one of those sorts who only provides banter when not on missions."  Hey, Sonic.  What is it exactly that you do here in Knothole again?

"That and things are busy for you as always.  So I could just quietly hang out while you get a moments peace and pretend you're busy talking to me about something."

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

Philip hasn't eaten this well since before the war.  In the city you eat what can survive there.  It's been a steady diet of vermin and bugs seasoned with dandelions, stinging nettle, and grit.  You know those food commercials where there's a chorus of angels, a sunbeam, and a breeze that blows your hair back?  Yeah.  It's like that.  Sure, the fish are making rude commentary, but Philip's not paying any attention.  The flavor is taking him back to a better time.  His eyes begin to water.

"My compliments to the chef," he says, his voice breaking, "Reminds me of mom's cooking..."

Philip's a strong willed guy.  It says so right there in his character sheet.  But it's taking every ounce of his willpower to keep from crying like a baby.  He keeps quiet after that lest he embarrass himself more than he already has.

Mittens grins and gives a thumbs-up whenever someone glances her way.  Since Shelly's question wasn't directed at her, she offers no reply other than to proudly show off one of the items retrieved.

~O...K...~ she prays silently as the team makes with the escape, ~So...  Where's the part where things go terribly wrong?  Where's the moral dilemma where I have to stop my allies from murdering a villain's relative?  Or the part where some miracle happens and everyone is shown that you're the one true God and all they gotta do is wish upon a star and all their dreams come true?  Not really all that interested in making converts of these people, after all, are you?  Hey, now!  That's different!  I'm a fallen sinner full of selfishness and evil!  You expect me to be perfect?!  Right.  Honest enough answer.  I do so enjoy these conversations of ours...  Not!  Yes, I realize that.  Thank you for pointing that out.  Just for that, I'm going listen to devil music like the immature child that I am.~

The eccentric teen begins to nod her head, dance, and lip-sync like she's listening to an iPod at full blast.  If anyone happens to be able to read lips, she's imagining herself singing, "The Devil's Son has just begun to shine."

Maverick Off Panel:
Maverick wonders about that. They were in line together. They were both going to be Roboticized. They were both orphans and both trying to fit into a new home. But Maverick understands distrust, not knowing who you can rely on, and all the self-absorbed feelings that come with that. "Eight." he replies.

"Almost 13 myself," Lucky answers Maverick with a proud smile before going for a side hug, "So if ever you need any big brother advice, just ask."

When Valin shows up Lucky gives him a happy smile and wave.

"Hi there, Mr. Valin."

Valin raises an eyebrow. Those two getting along for the first time. Maybe they played a game they both like? He allows himself a small smile in return and waves that large hand of his. "Hello. I came to check on you two. Are things going alright?" after all, while the smile on Lucky's face should say it all, Valin's question is more of a question to make sure and hopefully find out what went right.

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

Samuel's gadgets allow him to overhear Shelly's question and for a moment he looks rather angry. In order to continue to appear to not be listening in on the conversation, he pretends like he isn't listening by double checking the bags of equipment he has scavenged to make insure that all the seals are watertight, hoping that anyone who noticed his face would suspect him to be just doing a paranoia check to make sure the equipment is secure.

Since Samuel suspects that he is one of the people being spied upon, keeping himself busy is his only means of not blurting out something in anger, as the suspicion of being spied upon derails Samuel's train of thought as what remains of his conscious invades his thoughts, 'And this is why I can never trust the natives of this planet. They refuse to trust me. But then again that may be warranted considering that I make it clear that if I have to sacrifice everyone on this planet to save those I love, I would...but would doing that leave me no better than Robotnik? Would Alexis and the others think less of me if I resorted so such extreme measures? Markus, what would you do in this situation? I need your advice now more than ever. No ... He'd say that I can't afford to be distracted, I must complete my objectives and get Alexis, him, and our captain off this forsaken planet and home to Tanelorn space station and return to the Elsydeon. There is no point in wondering about what if, especially while in the field. That is what he would say, and what I must do.' Samuel's face returns to being expressionless as he finishes double-checking the seals on the bags while refocusing back upon the mission while continuing to listen in on Shelly's conversation.

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

Michael is ready and has what he needs. With Daemon nearby, Michael addresses Philip and Raichel. "It's time to go." he says simply, having gathered one other freedom fighter to go with. This was a purely stealth mission, after all, so the fewer he took, the better.

(Note from GM Tim: The one other freedom fighter can be Joe if he likes. But I left it nonspecific so anyone who wants to join Michael on the "false energy for Ra" mission can do so. That and Joe can continue RPing in town with Mika and Emmy if needed, instead of going on this mish. Lemme know on OOC, people. Even if you can just take hold of an NPC.)

Nautilus gives a salute of greeting when they meet up with Shelly's group, allowing himself a smile of approval when Shelly and Milloni show that they were successful.  He wastes no time in following through with the exit strategy they've prepared for, looking ready already.

At Shelly's question, he gives a firm nod and answers in a quiet, calmed tone, "As expected, and much more. Everyone was fairly on task with no interceptions along the way. All of them were quite efficient, and I look forward to returning to Aquarius with our cargo." The old sea bear keeps his eyes alert as they begin the move to evacuate from their former kingdom, though he doesn't see Samuel's brief show of emotion, "... Of course, there are things I would like to speak of with you, Princess, but they would best wait for a better time."

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

At Raichel's beckoning, Hart joins her with Angel and listens as she tells them a bit about herself and the tiger that he just saw, looking surprised to hear that he's her father. During their conversation, Hart himself remarks that he hasn't seen many father/daughter pairs since the trouble with Robotnik started.

He gives a smirk to Raichel's comment about having to go on a mission, "Just got here and they're already sending ya out, huh? Best of luck out there, Raichel."

After leaving the mess hall and taking the scenic route around Channelwood with Angel, they arrive at Katy's hut with little incident.  As they walk, Hart does his best to greet the freedom fighters he recognizes from his last visit, but he otherwise stays mostly quiet, looking around at the trees with a relaxed gaze now that there doesn't seem to be all that much of a rush.

"Sometimes, when you see all of the trees and greenery around a place like this, it's hard to think that there's a fight goin' on..." He says as they arrive at Katy's hut.

Katy nods to Joe. "There's plenty that can be done around here. You know that... so how about you join me for that peace and quiet you suggested? Then if you are needed for the mission, you'll be rested up. And if you aren't needed, well, you can put to practice what you mentioned. What kind of things you good with besides stabbing?"

She then sees out her window that Hart and Angel approaching. "Looks like Hart finally caught up, Tim."

Emerald hrms as she earpirks from Katy pointing out Hart coming. "I'll keep him company." she eyes Joe. "So you two can talk at least a little. You might be going on a mission, so now's the time." she hops over to the door and goes just outside Katy's hut. "Hi there, Hart! Hi Angel! Been a while. Nice to see you again." she says with a bright smile, tail swishing. "Katy's talking with Joe for a little before Joe takes care of some other stuff. So he's on a slight time crunch. So... can I help you with anything in the meantime?"

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

Shelly can't read lips any better than the next person so Mittens just looks silly. Wait... that's not new. Shelly nods to Nautilus and moves out with the others. The exit plan seems to go flawlessly as they don't even encounter a single alerted bot! It does seem like low security for Robotnik, just as Shelly mentioned earlier. She takes the group home. (Time skip to Aquarius if you all are ready)

Once in Aquarius, she would have everyone from the mission unload at the main room, where a bunch of other Aquarians have gathered to see how the mission went.

(skipping my other alts for my own sanity. Maybe when things get rolling more, I can give better posts. But suffice it to say, Raichel and Philip are going on Mike's mission to poison Ra. If Joe wants to do that, he's welcome to. If not, he's welcome to RP in Channelwood also. Either works for me.)

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

Joe says "Out of practice compared to the others, but can repair the broken stuff around here decently enough.  As for the mission, considering it involves Ra and Mike is the only other one we've known more than five minutes I figure I should go along."

He shrugs, wondering at what point 'hey people are messing with large killer robots maybe they need help' became part of his basic thought process again.  "Though considering what's involved, taking it a bit more easy with you until then would be a good plan yeah."

OOC Style: Joe will go with for the mish.  Just because he's trying to figure out ways to be more practical during downtime doesn't mean he's going to leave Mike alone as only known person in a mission involving Ra.
