Maverick skipped due to exiting scene. Candy is just helping with cooking as an NPC.

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

Katy looks over from Mika to Valin. "Actually, Valin, if you could just quickly double-check that Michael doesn't need you for the next mission and then come back and let me know his answer, that would set my mind at ease a bit. Besides, it shouldn't take long to prepare." she glances at Mika. "Lunch will need to be a little light today as we are going to have people going on a mission and they don't need belly-aches. We'll wanna focus efforts more on dinner so they have a nice reward to come home to." that and she's anxious for lunch to happen so people can go on this mission. She realizes at this point that Mika is a bit of a cook at heart and thus enjoys what she does and even takes pride in it, but Katy can not afford to let the artist in Mika go and spoil a mission when it could be used so much more effective as the proverbial "dangled carrot".

At the same time, Katy knows they can't skip lunch. Like Michael, Katy knows all too well hunger would be worse than a simple belly-ache. A simple lunch is all that's needed. But with no way of knowing how long the mission will be, skipping lunch is not an option. Still... "We'll also want to get Michael and his crew a bunch of rations to take on their mission in case they take longer than expected. Candy can do that easily enough; the instructions are on the bag..." she thumbs at the cabinet that has the ration ingredients. Candy checks and sure enough, there's a huge bag of flower that has some hand-written directions on what to use per-quantity. Katy adds, "Candy, all you need to is double-check with Michael exactly how many are going. Then make about 8 ounces worth of rations per person."

Katy's no cook. But she DOES know how to run everything. She has to. And that is why she gave the instructions she just did about lunch and rations. Katy is done chopping already and looks at Mika expectantly.

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

Joe is armarounded by the Foxy lady.  "Yeah, unfortunately if Julian is stabbed in the face as often as required that won't exactly get rid of the robot armies still around at the time.  Not to mention the inevitability of people going 'We save the world most, we should run things!' or 'We hid with our intact army until things blew over, we should run things'."

So. Many. Hidden civilizations.  And that's just counting the ones with working electricity.  "I think I will talk with her about it, though I'll try and see if I can ask both when she has a quiet moment, and had time to actually enjoy a quiet moment to herself first."

Which means, oh... Never?  That or waking her up in the middle of the night.  But that would be creepy.

Mika listens to both Katy and Valin.  As Valin offers his help she shakes her head, "Oh, no need, gigante.  I can take care of everything.  Have the boys help you." she says.  To Katy she nods, "Aye the meal will be simple, rolled tortilla fried with meat and vegitable filling.  It'll be as light or as heavy as anyone takes." she explains.

As Candy starts to work on the rations Mika takes over starting to make the tortillas.  As Katy finishes her chopping she hands Katy a plate of tortillas.  "If you could start rolling meat up in these?  They need to be like flutes.  It's why they are calle flautas, after all.".  she explains.

Given that Lucky wasn't given any specific new orders by the ladies, and that Valin implied that "you two" were supposed to go on the firewood mission, the cat figures it best to get out of the kitchen and help Maverick.  He hurries off to catch up with the overlander boy.

~Lunch?~ Devil fish snickers.

~Philip's wondering what's on the menu,~ Angel Fish agrees.

~Probably hoping for tacos!~

~And hot dogs!~

~Oh MAN!~

Philip headshakes.  What he had in mind to discuss with Katy would kindof require her to not be injured, so he's in no hurry.

~Yeah right.  Like that'd stop him.~

~Yeah.  Injured girl is hardly a new kink for Philip.~

"Best if we stay focused on the task at hand," he answers Michael, "And leave any other discussions till afterward."

Mittens of course loads up on anything specifically requested of her and anything else that seems like it would make for an epic awesome thing to have.  She can't resist the temptation to look at Thomas, put her finger over her mouth, and Shhhh with a sly smile.  She indicates to Nautilus that she's ready with a sharp salute.

Samuel not only takes stock of any equipment obviously not native to Urser, but the also recommends how it can be sabotaged or disabled if he sees an obvious means to do so for an item that they can't bring along with them.

It isn't long before Samuel has gathered as many items as he dares without weighing himself down to the point that he'd be impaired in a fight and signals to Nautilus that he is ready.

Samuel gets a somewhat sinister looking grin on his face as he glances around, saying softly, "A delayed explosion here could be a good distraction while we are making our escape from the city if we time it right." As Samuel is only thinking of how the explosion could hamper Robotnik's forces, not what damage it could do to the city.

Michael replies to Raichel, "Mostly having everyone make sure that their gear and equipment is ready."

Michael then turns to Philip and nods, "I agree."

Michael notices Valin's approach as the gorilla asks, "Michael, Katy was curious to know if I will be needed on this upcoming mission?"

Michael considers the situation before repling, "With Philip and Raichel going on the mission for backup, we won't need you for this mission. So you'll be free to assist Katy."

Valin nods and then heads back over to Katy to inform her of Michael's answer. Valin also knows this frees him up to instruct Maverick and Lucky regarding afternoon chores.

Nautilus gives Samuel the go-ahead to sabotage some of the equipment that they can't bring with them, so long as it can be done discreetly.  At Samuel's mention of leaving a bomb, though, the old sea bear looks quite serious.

"I would deny such an idea... Aside from the fact that we would like to leave with as little signs of us being here as possible, there is also the fact that this kingdom is still our home and the Princess's legacy. Our goal is to win our home back. Not to turn it to ruins."

As everybody seems to be mostly ready, Nautilus gives the okay to start moving again in the direction they were ordered.

Hart breathes a sigh of relief when they stop, sliding off of the bike and shaking his hooves as they touch solid ground again.  Calmly, he slides his hands into his pockets and collects himself as he looks at Angel, "Katy, eh? After seeing her going toe-to-toe with that giant robot last time, I'm thinkin' she won't go down easy.  I'm sure she's fine."

He looks up as he sees Tim fly off, giving a bit of a sigh. He looks again to Katy, "Ah well... think we should let someone know that we're here? There's not exactly much of a welcoming committe."

Katy does as Mika instructs. Easy enough. Benji peaks through the kitchen window. "Hey Katy! Timothius just flew up. He's on his way here to the mess hall."

Katy nods. "I'll address him when he gets here. He's hear to tell me I'm all better and stuff." Well, she hopes anyway.

Upon Valin informing Katy he is not needed on the mission, Katy simply nods.

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

Thomas makes a mental note that Mittens didn't really give an answer to why she wants lasers used on her and the group. However, to Sam's suggestion, Tom agrees with Nautilus and adds, "The explosion could kill roboticized seabears too. Robotnik hides behind hostages everywhere you turn."

Sure he believes the roboticized to be better off dead, but having their deaths on their conscious is still something he couldn't accept. That, in Thomas' mind, is just plain evil and inexcusable. But in Sam's case, the guy is an ALIEN, so Thomas writes off Sam's suggestion as just a foreigner who still isn't used to things.

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

Joe's brilliant plan of not actually bothering Katy about inconsequential (at least according to Joe) things seems to have hit a snag.  "The present, if trends keep up will involve over half a dozen people already trying for Katy's attention.  There are reasons I've never brought this up to her besides my usual degree of social skills."

Regardless, Joe gets led by the hand by Emerald Mess hallwards.  "While we're on the subject of minor personal snags never brought up because of not wanting to be a hassle, was there anything on your end?"

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

Mittens approves of Spaceman Sam's violent idea!  She grins and nods and double thumbs-up in said approval.  "Great idea!" she whispers enthusiastically, "Deny them the resources!"

But then Nautilus and Thomas rain on that parade.  She looks disappointed.

"Oops!  Hadn't thought of that!  Curse that villain and his foiling awesome plans!" Mittens says shaking her fist at the sky, "I guess we'll have to save the explosive for stuffing it down his throat later...  But knowing Dr. Beachballnick, he'd probably just inflate rather than explode.  Still would be worth it 'cause then we could use him as a giant piƱata!"

She idly swings at an imaginary inflated Robotnic as she continues to follow Nautilus's lead.

Re: Chapter 04: Higher Stakes

~Philip's equipment is always ready!~ Devil Fish points out in response to Michael.

~Oh look!~ Angel Fish says when the gorilla's offer to help the mission is denied, ~Philip's already making it so existing members get rejected!~

~Way to go, Philip!~ Devil Fish cheers, ~I knew you'd find some way to make the giant feel small next to you!  Nice revenge!~

~Philip'd make anyone feel small for the sheer volume and magnitude of his depravity.  Even Robotnick wouldn't go as low as Philip.~

~Not even close.  Robotnick's a saint next to Philip!~

Philip and the fish notice the arrival of Timothius.

~Now there's one flat chested girl!~ Devil Fish comments, ~The wings are cute, though.  C'mon Philip!  You know you want to be the one to make this angel fall!~

~That's a guy.  And he's here for Katy.  Not that that ever stopped Philip.  You better hurry up, Philip, or Katy might make your angel fall first!~

Philip and the fish then notice the arrival of Angel.

~Well well!~ Devil Fish says, ~New freedom fighters indeed!  Philip would love to fight your freedom!~

~Bunnies are so fun to play bondage games with, aren't they, Philip?~ Angel Fish asks, ~Especially when they don't like your games.  So much fun to chase and catch!  They make the cutest screams!~

Philip's head is throbbing with his pounding heartbeat.  Tunnel vision is taking over his bloodshot pupil-less eyes and he's literally starting to see in red.  Meeting new people is hard for him, and this has been a lot of new people in a very short time.  His hair stands on end as he manages to swallow a primal scream and instead stands slowly, the tension in every inch of his body making it difficult to move.

"I've some pent up Robotnic rage to work out," he manages to seeth through his gritted teeth, the growl in his voice making him sound almost demonic, "I'll be waiting bottom side."

He walks, jogs, then sprints to the edge of the platform and jumps off toward a tree which he uses to claw his way down to ground level.

~Bottom side!~ Devil Fish laughs, ~Your favorite!~

~Great lie there, Philip,~ Angel Fish commends, ~People will be soo impressed with your righteous indignation!  You'll be an inspiration!  Never mind that you left your baby girl alone among a bunch of good looking strangers.~

Philip races off to where he saw those SWATbot carcasses in order to smash their remains some more, roaring like a lunatic.

~Oh man!  Save some of that energy for your new friends!~

Both fish laugh at him.
